00:00Hello again. The dry weather across many southern areas will continue for a fair while yet.
00:06We have high pressure currently to the southwest of the UK.
00:09That's going to build and extend its way further north and eastwards.
00:14And as that high pressure shifts eastwards through Tuesday and into Wednesday,
00:18we see a change in our wind direction.
00:20So we drag in a bit more of a southerly.
00:22So not only is it going to stay pretty dry, it's also going to turn hotter here.
00:27A different story further north, you may have seen various frontal systems making their way in.
00:31So it is going to be wetter and with some cooler air coming in, markedly fresher as well.
00:37Back to the detail then.
00:39And there's already been a bit of cloud, bit of rain across northern parts in particular through today.
00:43There's more persistent rain sweeping in across northern Ireland and then pushing in across much of Scotland
00:48and also some parts of northern England through the early hours of Tuesday morning.
00:52Now, some of that rain could be quite heavy, especially towards western parts.
00:55As we go through Tuesday and into Wednesday, some places in the west of Scotland could see 30, 40 millimetres
01:02relatively widely,
01:03perhaps in excess of 50 millimetres in some places.
01:06Northern Ireland, northern England, Wales, much less rain here are only really looking around 10 to 15 millimetres.
01:12So not as heavy for sure.
01:14Further south and east, staying dry, clear skies and a warm night to come.
01:18Temperatures quite widely holding up in the mid, possibly even high teens Celsius.
01:22So yes, it is going to be pretty warm for all of us.
01:26So some blustery, wet, windy weather across much of Scotland first thing on Tuesday morning.
01:32The more persistent rain does push through and clear away towards the east,
01:36but there will still be some showery bursts of rain here and there, some bands of rain coming through.
01:40We kind of end up with two bands, one pushing into the northwest of Scotland
01:44and then another one lying across northern Ireland and pushing into more central areas.
01:48Some of the bursts of rain mixed in with this could be a bit on the heavy side,
01:51could even be some thunder mixed in with them as well.
01:55Further south, staying dry all the while and there will be some bright sunny weather to be had through Tuesday
02:00as well.
02:01We're going to see temperatures rising, highs of around, well, in the high 20s, possibly low 30s.
02:07Good chance that we're going to get back into the low 30s.
02:10It's been a couple of days since we've had that, most likely around the London area.
02:14As you would expect with the clouds, the rain and still some blustery winds,
02:19it is going to be a fair bit fresher than this towards the northwest.
02:22We're still looking at widely temperatures getting into the low 20s,
02:25so feeling pretty warm away from those blustery winds, away from the rain and where you catch any sunshine.
02:32Later on through Tuesday night into Wednesday, we still have these bands of rain over parts of Scotland and Northern
02:37Ireland.
02:38Front is edging its way a bit further southeastward, so that's going to bring some more persistent rain across parts
02:43of Northern Ireland
02:44and it continues to bring some wet weather to parts of Scotland as well.
02:48Still breezy towards the far north of Scotland, lighter winds further south, staying dry, clear skies and again, another warm
02:54night to come.
02:56Similar to this coming night, really, temperatures for many holding up in the mid to high teens Celsius.
03:00In fact, for many, it might even be a little bit warmer than this coming night.
03:05And then Wednesday, a north-south split to start off with and really that's how it's going to stay through
03:10much of the day.
03:11That front in the north over Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland does edge a little bit further southwards,
03:15so it is going to bring rain to more southern parts of Northern Ireland,
03:19pushing its way across the central belt towards the borders area where it could turn a bit heavy through the
03:24afternoon,
03:24but all the while towards, well, across much of England and Wales, especially towards the south,
03:29staying dry, lots of sunshine and it's likely to be the hottest day of this week, 34, possibly 35 Celsius
03:38around the southeast.
03:39It is going to be very hot indeed and a fair bit fresher than this towards northwest.
03:45Behind that front, that's edging southwards whilst we will see some drier weather developing across parts of Scotland.
03:50We have some cooler air, so temperatures really only peaking in the high teens, just about low 20s,
03:54so a few degrees down compared to Tuesday.
03:58That front edge is a bit further south, but it's breaking up as it goes through Wednesday and into Thursday.
04:04There's still high pressure nearby, so still staying largely dry, but there's still, that's mainly towards the south.
04:10Further north, there's France, there's low pressure around and so things more changeable here.
04:15So we sort of stick with the wetter weather towards the north, drier weather towards the south,
04:20albeit things are going to be turning a bit fresher, so temperatures dropping, still very warm or hot on Thursday,
04:27and then a little bit cooler than that by the time that we get to the end of the week
04:30and into the weekend.
