00:00What's our keys to this game?
00:01Well, it's really simple.
00:02It goes back to the scouting report.
00:03You've got to allocate more resources on first down to stop the run.
00:05Talk about the Browns having injuries.
00:07The best way to stop the run is having good corners that can play man.
00:10You've got to allocate those really good safeties down in the box
00:12to tackle Derrick Henry.
00:14You have not tackled well, but one thing you have done well
00:16is you've played physical and you've played fast.
00:19So get as many hats to Derrick Henry as possible
00:21and then keep Snoop Huntley in the pocket.
00:24Make him get to his second and third progression.
00:25You talked about what he did last week against Atlanta.
00:28He was throwing slants, curls, levels concepts.
00:31Very simple.
00:32Did it at a high level.
00:33Make him get to his second and third progression.
00:34That's the key.
00:35Now, on offense, you can't keep saying to yourself,
00:37we've got to get the running game going.
00:38You've got to try, but you've got to do what you've got to do today to win.
00:41And you keep working on the run game, but you can't work inside
00:44because of the size of these guys.
00:45So A and B gaps are going to be tough.
00:47You've got to make sure you get ahead on Roquan Smith and then Kyle Hamilton.
00:51Very good defense.
00:52But you can't attack Marlon Humphrey in the pass game.
00:55Boston can get after Humphrey.
00:56You can attack Rivers, the backup nickel, when they put him on the half.
00:59You can attack him with Casey Concepcion and Harold Fannin.
01:03So find your matchups.
01:04Don't run your head into the wall if you can't run it.
01:06If you have to get an extended run game with some simple swing passes,
01:10passes in the flat, et cetera, try to be physical.
01:12Try to get ahead on Roquan Smith and find Marlon Humphrey in the pass game.
01:15That answer tells me I know which one you're most excited for today.
01:18You're excited for the Ravens-Browns game.
01:20Absolutely.
01:21100%.
01:21I can hear it in your voice.
01:23I can hear it in the detail there.
01:24I can hear it in the conversation.
01:25I love that.
01:26All right.

01:32And the Fan Bud Light Tailgate Show brought to you by DAZN.
01:34Stream DAZN.
01:35Are you in?
01:36The Valley Automotive Group.
01:37Smiley One.
01:37Heating, cooling, plumbing.
01:38And Brian, doing whatever it takes.
01:40What are you planning on watching on today?
01:42I'm going to give you two.
01:43Or watching today, excuse me.
01:43I'm going to give you two.
01:44One is, what do the Browns do on first down?
01:46Do the Browns allocate more resources down the box?
01:48So what I mean by that, are you seeing those safeties?
01:51Are they playing three safeties?
01:52And do you see EMW, Hickman, Delpit?
01:55Are they down the line of scrimmage?
01:56And they put those corners in man against Zay Flowers and Bateman.
02:00That's what I'm looking for from the defense.
02:03Offensively, I'm looking, can they get the run game going?
02:06And if they can't, what is their answer?
02:08Is it a short passing game?
02:09Are they trying to work more run-run options, run-pass options?
02:13What are they doing if they can't get the run game going?
02:15Because you can't say to yourself, well, you can't get the run game going.
02:17You want to keep running your head into the wall, you've got to have an adjustment.
02:20I thought they did that really well last week.
02:22So that's my thing.
02:24How do you stop the run on first down, allocate more resources,
02:27and can you get the run game going?
02:29And if you can't, what do you do?
02:31All right, and that is what to watch for today, brought to you by DAZN.
02:34Are you in?
02:35We are 10 minutes away from, really, 6 minutes away.
02:38I don't know why I said 10.
02:3910 is like the end of the segment.
02:41We are 6 minutes away from the injury report dropping.
02:43It's a massive one, Coach.
02:44And obviously, we'll find out the status of, like, seven different important players for today's game.
02:48There was one update I did want to pass along before we kind of move forward here.
02:52And this was just from right before the show got underway.
02:56And Merrick C. Cabin is going to join us around 11.20 today
03:01and discussing some of the players she's already seen
03:03and some of the players that she's seen out on the field already.
03:06Because she gets there.
03:07I mean, Coach, she gets there 90 minutes before everyone else.
03:09And that's, like, three hours before the game gets underway.
03:12So she's got a good handle on this.
03:13But she says Quinshawn, who's questionable with that ankle injury,
03:16finished his workout with Deuce Daly, walked back into the locker room.
03:19Andrew Barry did watch that.
03:21He seemed to have discomfort on stops and starts.
03:24No high fives after the workout.
03:25Typically, when they do these workouts and it's, like, testing everything,
03:28they'll go around, they'll give high fives, they'll dab each other up,
03:30be like, all right, we're good to go.
03:31This is awesome.
03:32Merrick C. saying that did not happen.
03:34So that is not a good sign for Quinshawn, who's questionable with that ankle injury.
03:38We'll find out more in about five minutes or so
03:40as he went through a workout before the Ravens game.
03:42And obviously, the plan today was to have him play.
03:45But it didn't seem like it went particularly well.
03:48Well, and once again, I've said this all week.
03:50People have said to me, Judkins, what's wrong with him?
03:53And for me, I don't know yet.
03:55And what everybody thinks might be true.
03:57But if you don't get any movement up front, this is not on your tailback just yet.
04:01Now, the idea that he might be impatient or he's not seeing things,
04:04those are great, but right now there's nothing to see.
04:05There is no movement.
04:06There is no getting to the second level.
04:08There is no backside cutoff.
04:09There is no making sure your guy doesn't cross your face.
04:12All those things, whether you run from underneath center, in the shotgun, pistol, sidecar,
04:16all these things people are saying, they might be all true.
04:18But if you don't get any movement up front, it doesn't matter what happens with your running back.
04:22So whoever the running back is, now, that might play into the hands because it's tough to run.
04:28This Ravens defensive front is a get-off-the-bus first team, right?
04:32Klayas, Campbell, Washington, Travis Jones, they're all 350-plus.
04:35They're just huge humans, right?
04:36So you might struggle with the run game anyway, even if it was going well.
04:39So it might force their hand to work the short passing game today because you've got to find a way
04:43to win.
04:44You've got to find a way to win today.
04:45Estimate can give you pass protection.
04:47He can also give you three or four yards occasionally.
04:50And you find a way to make it work.
04:51Estimate is basically like a Rocket Sanders clone in many respects.
04:55You know, I think Rocket Sanders is 6'2", Estimate is about 5'11", 230.
04:59Like they, from a stand, from a, tell me about their running styles.
05:04I would imagine it's very similar to the, they both play that, that I'm big, built like a bowling ball
05:08type running back style.
05:10Yeah, there's, so it's one foot in the ground, get downhill.
05:12There's not a lot of shake.
05:13There's not a lot of wiggle.
05:15There's not a lot of suddenness left and right.
05:17It's very much read what you see, put your foot in the ground and get vertical.
05:20And that could be what you need today, running power, pin and pull, counter, where you're trying to get to
05:24the edge.
05:25This deep Ravens front is so big, but you can get to the edge a little bit against these guys.
05:29You know, they're okay.
05:31Travis Robinson, you know, is a solid guy, but he's not great against the run.
05:35So attacking the edges, if you can get to the second and four, regardless of who your tailback is, you've
05:40got a chance with your quarterback.
05:41So I think it's the idea of, I think he can give them today what they need against this really
05:46good Ravens defense.
05:47All right, coach, we got this news just a little bit early on.
05:49We don't have the full entire list, but anytime Ian Rappaport is tweeting out, it means you get a couple
05:53pieces here and there right before the 1130 time.
05:56Quinchon Judkins today, according to Ian Rappaport, will be out.
06:00Carson Schwestinger is good to go today.
06:02So it'll be no Quinchon Judkins today.
06:04If you're a fantasy football guy, adjust your lineups if you have Quinchon in there.
06:07Although if you've had Quinchon in, you've probably been taking a beating over the previous five weeks.
06:11But tell me what that means for the Browns today.
06:13No Quinchon Judkins today.
06:14We did the Mary Kay Cabot report.
06:16She'll join us at 1220, where she had said after his workout, they didn't do the high fives.
06:21They went through a drill pregame.
06:23It obviously seems like it didn't go particularly well.
06:25No Quinchon Judkins today for the Browns.
06:27Well, you're assuming that SMA would be your starter on first down.
06:30He's your carry the load guy.
06:31And then Jaleel McLaughlin's got to have a big game out of the backfield, that Dylan Sampson role.
06:35You can also look for things like power read, where you're going to use Casey Concepcion as the outside run
06:41guy with your quarterback downhill running.
06:43So the multiple runs, right?
06:45So maybe not point of attack, right?
06:46You're going to have run-run options.
06:48You're going to have run-pass options.
06:50You're going to use, if they give you a short open throw, you take it every time, as opposed to
06:55running power on first down.
06:57So short passing game, very, very vital.
06:59Casey Concepcion, Isaiah Bond, who didn't play well last week.
07:01He has to play better because he'll be a part of that extended run game, I like to call.
07:06So those bubble screens, quick arrows, hitches, slants, RPOs, all those things are going to be very, very important today.
07:13SMA has to be good on first down to the best of his ability.
07:16And McLaughlin, you're not going to block the blitz with McLaughlin, but you're going to beat the blitz.
07:21So Watson has to be very good at a short passing game today.
07:23I have no idea if this is going to make the Browns a better run game or a better run
07:28team today.
07:29Zero clue.
07:30Obviously, we'll find out.
07:30But SMA has been on the team for three minutes, okay?
07:32I have zero clue if it's going to make them better.
07:35But I know it's got a slight chance of making them worse.
07:41Quinchon has not been able to do over the previous five weeks has been evident.
07:45It's been pretty bad, all things considered.
07:48There's no other room.
07:49I can't sugarcoat it.
07:50Coach, it just hasn't been good.
07:51And so, although I want to see Quinchon out there, I do deal with it with the ankle injury.
07:56At 100%, we've had a problem with Quinchon this year.
07:58I don't know that dealing with an ankle injury was going to make it any better.
08:01This actually seems like this is not a blessing in disguise because I don't know that it's going to look
08:05any better.
08:06But, again, it's got a very, very tiny chance of looking worse than what it has.
08:09We've just not had a run game for five weeks now.
08:11Yeah, and for me, it's always been Judkins has his part in it, right?
08:15He has not been impatient, but the reason he's been impatient is because he's getting hit behind the line of
08:22scrimmage.
08:22For me, this is much more on the offensive line.
08:24It is your tailback.
08:25Now, in three weeks from now, if they're blocking really well.
08:27So, that tells me that we're going to still have problems.
08:29If you think this is more offensive line than it is anything else, the offensive line grades have been abysmal
08:34for this Browns offensive line in the run game.
08:36The pass game has been better, but in the run game, it's been abysmal.
08:39So, you're telling me you could throw basically anybody out there short of Bijon Robinson, someone like that, and we'd
08:45still be having a lot of issues.
08:46Well, if you throw Bijon Robinson out there and he's getting hit behind the line of scrimmage, he's going to
08:50struggle as well.
08:50He'll get some more run after contact because he's that good, but he's going to struggle as well.
08:56The running back is these skill guys are relying on that offensive line.
09:00If they're not moving people.
09:01Now, it's not a matter of effort.
09:03It's a matter of five games in, five new guys, new coordinator, new – that's not an excuse.
09:08That's the reality of it.
09:09That's an explanation.
09:10They're going to get better and better at it.
09:12This is a unit that has to play well together.
