00:00Browns and Jets, I do think it's interesting the way the Browns are playing right now
00:04that you would think perhaps they would be favorites, but you do know they're on the road.
00:08So that's worth three points, right?
00:11And so they are, what, one-and-a-half-point dogs going into this game against the Jets.
00:15Why do you think that is?
00:18I think there are probably some non-believers who are setting those.
00:23And what are those designed for?
00:26To attract bets.
00:28Yeah.
00:28So that's what a point spread's all about, try to attract bets.
00:33So I think that's what it is.
00:35And some folks might not think, you know, the folks in Vegas and elsewhere,
00:39that the Browns are legit yet.
00:41And that's okay.
00:42I get that.
00:43Don't you?
00:43Yeah, I totally get it.
00:44I think that part of it is, I think, again, going back to the betting thing,
00:49you know, aren't gambling companies trying to get it to even out?
00:54So there must be money going in on the Browns.
00:56That's what I would think.
00:57And so that's why, so you want more people to bet on the Jets side to kind of even out
01:02the money the way you're doing that, too.
01:05And, you know, you're probably looking at, you know, probably point-and-a-half, two-and-a-half
01:10points as a dog for the Browns going into that, which is great.
01:15Wait, wait, wait, you know, or more money would be going towards the Jets.
01:18I don't know.
01:18I might have messed that up.
01:19But I also don't think people are buying the fourth-quarter comebacks and that the Browns
01:27are going to have the ability to be the cardiac kids of 2026 and continue to do these fourth-quarter,
01:34come-from-behind victories where they can, or at least tied, and go on to take the lead victories
01:39to be able to do that.
01:40I also think that maybe the Jets are favorite, too, because they go back and look at that loss
01:48to the Bears and go, well, that's not going to happen again, right?
01:52That's not going to happen again.
01:54So I kind of feel like that's why the Browns might be underdogs in this,
01:59maybe more about what the Jets are doing and the non-believers of what the Browns' offense
02:06is doing.
02:07Well, there's actually, I think, still a part of it, Andy.
02:10You won three and five games the last two years.
02:13There's a carryover there.
02:14Yeah.
02:15You know?
02:15I mean, the Browns have to go out and prove themselves.
02:17That's why I think this is a really telling game.
02:20I mean, I think they should go to New York and beat a New York Jets team that is not
02:26real
02:27good, not an awful team, but I don't think it's a real good team, and their top offensive
02:33weapon, I think, Brees Hall, is out for this game.
02:37Now, Braylon Allen's a good young running back, and he's a big guy.
02:41They're going to have to slow him down, but Geno Smith can sling it.
02:47Garrett Wilson can catch it.
02:49They don't have Mitchell, but they'll still have some weapons the Browns are going to have
02:55to deal with.
02:55I think the Browns win this game, and they go four and one, but if they don't, I'd be
03:02surprised, and it would, I think, Andy, make you rethink and pause over their great start
03:08a little bit.
03:09This is the type of game.
03:11Are you legit?
03:12All right.
03:13You go win this game.
03:15Dan, you buying into this, or what are you saying?
03:17Why do you think the Browns are dogs?
03:18And say it, because it's New York.
03:22No.
03:23It's the stupidest thing that always comes out of people's mouths, and it makes my head
03:26hurt.
03:27I put it there because you put it right there on the note.
03:29Oh, I know.
03:29It's the stupidest thing that comes out of people's mouths, and it makes my head hurt.
03:32Oh, good.
03:33So, you think that the Browns are underdogs because they're playing New York.
03:35Okay, I get it.
03:36I think the Browns are underdogs because I think some people aren't buying the offense.
03:41I think there are still parts of this offense that people are waiting for the bottom to fall
03:44off of, including the fact that they can't run the ball.
03:47They've got to get that fixed if they want to be a serious NFL team.
03:51I mean, they are absolutely horrendous running the ball right now.
03:55I think the people buy the defense.
03:56I think people just don't buy the offense yet.
03:59And it's kind of understandable, and you start looking under the hood at some of this stuff.
04:03This offense has been good when it needs to be good, and then also bad.
04:10It's been good and bad.
04:13I mean, how else would you describe it?
04:15I mean, this thing sputters at least through two quarters of every single game.
04:19This offense just sputters.
04:20So, let me throw it at this point.
04:21It's within the same game.
04:22Right.
04:23For the same reason that the Browns are dogs, do you believe in Deshaun Watson?
04:28No, not yet.
04:28No, I don't either.
04:30Not yet.
04:31Do you believe Deshaun Watson's getting better?
04:35I'll leave it at that.
04:36Yes, I do.
04:38I think we're seeing improvement.
04:40I will say yes.
04:42I think he is getting better, but I'm still not jumping in with two feet.
04:48Yeah, he doesn't look like a Pro Bowl quarterback.
04:51No.
04:52Not yet.
04:53Will he ever?
04:54I don't know.
04:54Kind of looks like a backup quarterback in the league right now to me.
04:58I'm not even going to classify it.
05:00I don't know.
05:01He doesn't look like a standout.
05:03He doesn't look like a standout.
05:04And that's not meant to be a slap in the face.
05:05Like, I mean that to mean he could come in.
05:08He could run the offense.
05:09It's a proper operation.
05:11There aren't a lot of messes that are in between and problems that are coming with it.
05:17He's taking what a defense is giving to him.
05:20He's not hitting the open receivers.
05:21And he's not throwing to them.
05:23And he's got about two to three great throws every single game.
05:27Which is true.
05:28And as long as they keep happening in the fourth quarter when the team needs it the most, I don't
05:34really have a huge problem with what's going on right now.
05:37I mean, yeah, there are points where the game looks ugly.
05:39There have been a lot of times where I've been like, oh, man, did they get lucky on that play.
05:42Right?
05:43And, you know, the penalties have been brutal.
05:47Third down has not been good.
05:49They ranked 26th in the NFL on third downs.
05:52So, I mean, they've got to avoid third and long.
05:58But that keeps coming from the penalties and giving up an occasional sack here and there.
06:03And, you know, I just, they need to get the running game going.
06:10I know you said that.
06:11But to me, I just think that would just open up so much more opportunity for Watson if they can
06:16get the game on the ground to at least just get, I don't know, to look average at best.
06:23Even a little bit more than average.
06:24According to our friends at Sumer Sports, 28th in EPA per rush, which is a really good way to measure
06:31how healthy your running offense is.
06:34And this offense is sick.
06:36I think it got a little better against Pittsburgh.
06:39Is that Quinchon being hurt or is that just not having the running game you expect?
06:43I think it's bad offensive line play mixed with Quinchon maybe not being as explosive as he was previous.
06:47But I would probably lean more toward bad offensive line play.
06:50There haven't been many holes that have been busted open.
06:52Like, you haven't seen even any of the tape where they're like, here's the hole, and Quinchon Junkins just missed
06:57it.
06:58It just seems like.
07:00Jaleel McLaughlin found one.
07:01Well, that was off the outside, and he had to dodge three guys to get there.
07:04Yeah, he had to kind of make his own.
07:06Yeah, he kind of made his own.
07:07But it's still a running game.
07:09And Rocket Sanders has been, I think, fun to watch.
07:14I'm just saying, I don't think it's good, but I do think it's trending in the right direction.
07:20I would say the same for Watson.
07:22I mean, I think he's trending in the right direction as far as playing better every week.
07:28And he's not been bad, Andy.
07:29No, he hasn't.
07:30No, I think he's been incompetent.
07:32That's been my word with him.
07:33If he didn't have all those things that happened off on the side, and he didn't, I don't know, I
07:37don't know.
07:37And then if he didn't get hurt, then I wonder, well, I guess it's being hurt that's part of it,
07:46right?
07:46So if you knew who he was, forget about the side stuff, and he got hurt, would you give him
07:53more patience for this offense?
07:55And forget about the contract.
07:56I'm asking you to do a lot of things here.
07:58I know.
07:58I get it.
07:59But if the contract wasn't weighing over his head, over our heads too, and what the future is for him,
08:06is he not just a typical quarterback that is coming back from injury that is slowly getting better?
08:13Brown's dead last in yards before contact per rush, by the way.
08:18Is he?
08:19Do you think he's a quarterback who's been hurt and missed significant time getting better through playing?
08:27Yeah, I think he's getting better.
08:29And the guy was out for two years.
08:32There's all kinds of baggage and everything else.
08:35Let's cut it down to football terms.
08:37Right.
08:38He missed two years.
08:40He had a shoulder injury.
08:41Not good for a quarterback.
08:42He had an Achilles injury.
08:44Not good for a football player.
08:46Twice on the Achilles injury.
08:48And he missed two years.
08:49He's not going to step back out on the football field and be the guy the Browns thought they were
08:54trading for.
08:55It's going to take some time.
08:57And I think he's getting better.
08:58And we'll see where it goes.
09:01Let's put it this way.
09:03The thought that he's back here next year as the Browns starting quarterback is one that I just completely blew
09:10off.
09:11I thought, nope, that's done.
09:13And I don't think, you know, they will release him.
09:18Could he end up back here?
09:21Maybe.
09:22I'd give it a maybe now.
09:25And before I would have given you an absolutely not.
