00:00I don't hear that doubt anymore.
00:02And if you're trying to do what he is trying to do,
00:05which is come back from being down for two years, not playing,
00:09and then everything else along with it that all happened before he even got here
00:14and then since he got here, he didn't sound like that guy to me.
00:20And he's starting to sound like that guy.
00:22And, Andy, that's part of the gig.
00:25You have to have that confidence.
00:27I think you have to exude that confidence.
00:30And I think he's starting to do that.
00:32I look at him right now as someone who's starting –
00:36I think he gets more confident every time he walks out on the field.
00:39Yeah, there's some ugly duckling things that happen every once in a while.
00:42There was that fumble that happened the other day,
00:45and they couldn't pick up the one yard to get –
00:48but those are all – they haven't been devastating mistakes to hurt this team.
00:53I think the biggest improvement is the lack of interceptions.
00:57To me, that just jumps off the page like nothing else when it comes to him
01:01and why he's been able to improve and, quite frankly, why this team has been able to win
01:07is because either he's just avoided – you know, he's gotten lucky on a couple of them,
01:12but it doesn't matter.
01:14Sometimes you just need that luck to become a better quarterback.
01:16And if they don't get the interceptions, they don't have the ball, they don't have field position,
01:20they don't – I mean, all of those – it's just one simple part of his game
01:25that he has definitely, you know, made better.
01:29And I just – I think that's the good part about watching him
01:33is that we're just not seeing the turnovers that we used to see.
01:35And it doesn't look – he doesn't look like he's in that phase of being reckless anymore.
01:40Like, he does have some of those things that we saw in Houston
01:43that made him a good quarterback.
01:45And for him to keep growing and expanding, he's just got to continue to play that way
01:50and just – you just don't – sometimes you just don't have to take a chance.
01:53Yes. And his also – you can clearly see that he has more confidence running the ball
01:59than he's had his entire time that he's been here.
02:01He's had success, whether that's having an offensive lineman make something happen for him
02:05or his ability to spin out of a sack, he is having more success than he's ever had here
02:10before running the ball.
02:12And it's not even the yardage, it's the key plays that he's had doing that,
02:16being able to pick up a first down and keep the offense moving.
02:19That's why I think it's been kind of fun to watch the fourth quarter.
02:22In fact, it's been a blast to watch in the fourth quarter.
02:24And I had confidence last week that they'd be able to come back, and they did.
02:28And he kind of proved it.
02:29And maybe that's another reason why he's getting more football respect across the league.
02:34We just heard his press conference.
02:36Press conferences here on 92 Through the Fan are brought to us by Expert Renovations,
02:42expertrenovationsllc.com.
02:43Todd Munkin's press conference will be coming up in the noon hour.
02:47The Browns have a chance here against the Jets.
02:49Then you get Baltimore, possibly without Lamar Jackson.
02:54I mean, there's some things that could play out here that would be stunning.
03:01I mean, if you end up 4-1, 4-2, 5-1, I don't want to get too far ahead
03:11of ourselves
03:11because I don't think the Browns have looked phenomenal.
03:15But they've done enough, especially on the defensive side of the ball, to win some games.
03:20And I think the offense is starting to get its act together.
03:23And if it can do that, there's some good young skill position talent here.
03:27If that line can keep evolving a little bit, this could be one of the most surprising seasons
03:33that we've ever seen here.
03:34Could be.
03:35I don't want to get too far ahead of everybody.
03:38I mean, I'm already surprised.
03:38Through four games it is.
03:40It's one of the most surprising starts, especially when you look at what a dog the first game was.
03:45I have a tendency to be real hesitant on saying 5-1 no matter what because it's not.
03:51And you should be.
03:51It hasn't been since 94.
03:53You should be.
03:55You know, there's a lot of driving with your foot on the gas and on the brakes at the same
04:02time.
04:02And so, you know, I'm going to enjoy every game here.
04:06And if they can walk away with a win, I love waking up the next day and just being surprised.
04:10You know, even 3-2, not that I want that, but it's still better than I think what most people
04:18thought
04:18this team was going to look like to start the season.
04:20Now, do they have a golden opportunity?
04:22Yeah, they have a great opportunity this week to win on the road against the Jets.
04:26They do.
04:27They've got to continue doing what they're doing and not turning the ball over, as I said, you know, for
04:31like five minutes there.
04:32It's the key.
04:34It is the key.
04:35What are you doing?
04:36You're timing your own little...
04:37I don't know.
04:37Timing your rips there?
04:38I just...
04:40It's what drives me crazy on Sundays.
04:42Hey, we've got this great thing.
04:44Remember, even in the first game of the season, the very first drive felt good until he turned the ball
04:50over.
04:50And then, pfft, everything went.
04:52So, maybe the timing of the turnover, too, makes a difference for this team.
04:56Just keep playing, baby.
04:58It's like baseball tonight.
05:00Just go play.
05:00Keep playing.
05:01I don't have deep wisdom today.
05:03I do know I like watching this football team right now.
05:05And I never thought I would say that to a Deshaun Watson-led team.
05:09I like watching this team play.
05:12It's hard not to.
05:14And for me, it's been the defense and watching the development of the young skill position guys.
05:22And when you think Deshaun is doing okay, you know, it's like, well, yeah, there's some of this.
05:29And then, eh, some of this.
05:31And then the fourth quarter comes, and you put points on the board when you need to, and you win
05:36a game.
05:36It's like, wow.
05:38Okay.
05:39That's what this is supposed to be all about.
05:42And, you know, I agree with you.
05:44This is a great opportunity to go win this game against the Jets and go to 4-1.
05:49And every one of those you put in the win column is not coming back out.
05:53And you reduce the number of games you have to win down the road to potentially make the, you know
05:57what?
05:59I don't want to say the word.
06:00Don't say it yet.
06:01Don't want to jinx it.
06:02You do have a 75% chance right now.
06:04Of doing what, Andy?
06:05Of what you just said you don't want to say.
06:09If Todd walks out in front of the cameras and starts smiling, hey, everybody, how you doing?
06:13I think we'd all understand, wouldn't we?
06:153-1.
06:16He's earned it.
06:17Yeah.
06:17It's like, hey.
06:19This coaching stuff's pretty cool.
06:21I'll be honest.
06:21On Thursday, I thought he was a little down after that game.
06:25I've seen him peppier.
06:27I've seen him peppier.
06:29More excited.
06:31You've seen him peppier?
06:33Yes.
06:34Peppier.
06:34I don't know.
06:35He seemed like he was a little.
06:37I think you're wrong.
06:38I think he was frustrated after Thursday's game by the penalties.
06:42I think he was frustrated by a lot of things that he saw.
06:44Well, he's not alone.
06:45The NFL referees are calling penalties like crazy.
06:47Yeah, I just, he didn't seem like the Todd window.
06:52He didn't have the Baskin pep.
06:54No, it's just, he didn't know it's Todd pep.
06:56It's not me.
06:56Like, after the.
06:58The peppy you expect.
07:01So you want him to just walk out today and just do the, how cool is this?
07:05We're 3-1?
07:06Yeah, you know what?
07:07It's worked so far.
07:07How cool is this?
07:11I got the greatest job in the world.
07:13I got the greatest job in the world.
07:14I spent a two-day weekend.
07:16I watched a bunch of college football.
07:17Did a little yard work.
07:19Came back on a Sunday.
07:21Watched some real NFL football on top of it.
07:23Like, how cool is this?
07:26Hey, just so you know, Coach Munkiken.
07:28Is that what we're calling you?
07:29Coach Munkiken?
07:30I don't know that.
07:31He's got a hater on social.
07:33Like, one guy just, I think you, I hope next time Todd sees you, he punches you in the face.
07:38It's Coach Todd again.
07:39Oh, first Todd again.
07:40I hope to meet him.
07:41I'd love to meet Todd Munkiken.
07:42Would you be cool if he punched you in the face then?
07:44Yeah.
07:44I'd probably have it coming from a litany of people.
07:47You know what Todd would do?
07:47It would probably turn into the scene in an airplane trying to get somebody to calm down.
07:50If you didn't aggravate Stefanski, I doubt Munkiken's going to care about this.
07:54If Todd, if Dan met Todd, Todd would say, oh, hi, Dan.
07:59Nice to meet you.
08:00And Dan could go, coach, this is awesome.
08:03I can't believe I get to meet you.
08:06How cool is this?
08:08And Todd would laugh like crazy.
08:10I think he'd laugh too.
08:13How cool is this?
08:20What if they go 4-1?
08:22I think they're going to go 4-1, by the way.
08:26Is that a parade?
08:27Is 4-1 parade worthy?
08:28I don't know.
08:30Andy, this has been...
08:32It's been so long since we've been able to talk about stuff like this.
08:36This is not the team we expected to get off to a 3-1 or a 4-1 start.
08:41I don't think.
08:42And I say that for this reason only.
08:45Big questions of quarterback and a lot of young skill position guys on offense and a line that was trying
08:50to come together.
08:52All new pieces.
08:54And here you are.
08:56And it all hasn't clicked.
08:59And you're still 3-1.
09:02That's the thing here.
09:04Have you been overly impressed with the offense?
09:07I haven't been.
09:08No.
09:08They can get better.
09:09Yes.
09:10There's a lot of room for improvement on the offense.
09:12The defense, I think, has done a really nice job.
09:15And you've had decent enough play at quarterback that there you go.
09:20Good defense.
09:22Decent enough offense.
09:23You win games.
09:25You're going to win a game.
09:27You know, we always say this, right?
09:28You win at least one game a year that you're not supposed to win.
09:32And you're going to lose a game.
09:33You probably should have won.
09:37Have they already done that?
09:39Well, the win part of it, yes.
09:41Stealer game?
09:43I actually think they should have won by at least 14 points.
09:47They should have won.
09:47I mean, I know they won by three.
09:49They should have won by 14.
09:50Those stupid penalties are still just – you can't have that many penalties
09:55and expect to win.
09:56And then, I mean, in some ways, if the Steelers were to come back and won,
10:00I wouldn't have been shocked because we'd all be –
10:03we would have spent the last five, six days sitting around –
10:06I don't get rid of these penalties.
10:07But they won.
10:08So that gets buried.
10:10The Jets, to me, though, are – we've had some goofy games against them, too,
10:15against the Jets.
10:17And so –
10:18They've lost three games in the last three in a row.
10:22They started off with a win in their first game.
10:25And they're probably circling this game.
10:27Okay, it's the Browns.
10:28Time to get healthy, except the Browns are 3-1.
10:31And they're 1-3.
10:32But they've given up 20, 31, and 23 points in the last three games.
10:38They lost to Chicago last time out.
10:40And, obviously, Chicago without Caleb Williams is not the same team.
10:44But still, they gave up 23 points to Chicago, put up only 12.
10:50Bears' defense has been better than I think people have expected it to be.
10:53I don't want to have a neutral case at all of the challenges that we wait.
10:53Please let me know in math.
10:53I mean, listen.
10:53I love to be in the future.
10:53We have to be in the future.
10:53I just going to help you with e-most n föd,
10:53I'm inviting you and I'm inviting you to invite you to collect it.
10:53If that's COVID was good for a while,
