00:00:16that's our jets beat writer brian costello and that's my guy frankie viteriti from youth stadium
00:00:20today is thursday september 24th the new york jets are going to detroit to play the lions
00:00:25aaron glenn framing facing his former team week three the jets are going in at one and one as a
00:00:30six and a half point dog to detroit uh there's plenty of storylines to dive into this game
00:00:35should be a good one sunday one o'clock but before we get to any of that as always i'll
00:00:39start with
00:00:39kaz how you doing today buddy good ryan ready to get to week three yeah look there's a lot of
00:00:48storylines that happened from last week we dove into a couple of them uh and it's continued to
00:00:52just matriculate the ball downfield it's really turned itself into something here for jets fans
00:00:58and and the uh discourse here but frankie how you feeling buddy feeling pretty good man i actually
00:01:02learned what the definition of matriculate was it actually ironically the the definition you would
00:01:09think what it means has really nothing really to do with what you know glenn said or there have been
00:01:13there have been coaches in the past to use that word hank straight the famous one so hank stram yes
00:01:18coach he was wearing a microphone in the early days of nfl films during super bowl four yes he's a
00:01:25very colorful guy and he said we're gonna matriculate them all down the field 65 power trap 65 power
00:01:34it's a great play by the way but um no matriculate means to be formally enrolled or admitted as a
00:01:40student
00:01:40at a college so college so i i don't know where that you know turned into hank strand was like
00:01:45a guy
00:01:46he he kind of misspoke like that was kind of the got it he was like not yogi berra but
00:01:51sort of like
00:01:52you know yeah i gotcha that was the fun of having the microphone on and the genius of
00:01:57coming up with the idea to put a microphone on somebody on the coaches and so yeah but that's
00:02:02matriculate the ball down the field has become legend because of that sure has uh and so is
00:02:07garen glenn's comments after the the game and the day the day following uh look the storyline was
00:02:13the fact that the jets did blow a 17-7 lead in the fourth quarter uh coming up to a
00:02:172017 loss to
00:02:18the agreement packers after a game that they had played so so much better than the packers in i
00:02:23wouldn't say they played well but i would say they played so much better than the packers um cause i
00:02:27like to start off these preview episodes now with the vibe check and what you think of this team right
00:02:32now in this current standpoint look they had two and oh staring in the face but now they are one
00:02:37and one going into detroit so what's the vibe check for you on this jets team i think they're
00:02:44still a little stunned from sunday um it was hard to get a read on the players yesterday so much
00:02:50i talked
00:02:51to a few of them you know they're saying all the right things obviously but people around the
00:02:57organization still feel like i it still was lingering with them and i think there was still
00:03:03kind of a disbelief of like man we were that we were so close to being two and out how
00:03:07did that
00:03:07happen um so i'm curious to see what the jets look like to start this game like is there any
00:03:14lingering
00:03:14feelings from last week where they have a tough time turning the page um you know we'll see but it
00:03:19was
00:03:19it was hard to read the players yesterday but i still felt like around the organization as a whole
00:03:24this thing was still lingering yeah uh understandably so right i mean when you have a golden opportunity
00:03:30like that you've you've said it ryan it's so hard to win games in the nfl they had that in
00:03:35their hands
00:03:36and it just fell through and that's the most crushing feeling you can have i'm sure as a coach
00:03:40and a player frankie as a fan how are you feeling now a couple days after the fact that the
00:03:45jets did blow
00:03:46that 10 point lead man you try to go back in time and think about that game and and cause
00:03:52i i i tweeted
00:03:53this and rye i told you this i actually didn't think they were going to blow that game like usually
00:03:58i do
00:03:59usually i'm like oh i have this little pit in my stomach like they're gonna blow that game
00:04:03i didn't have that feeling on sunday i i i didn't i i looked at how that defense was playing
00:04:09i looked
00:04:10at the packers offense jordan love seemed a little out of sync himself himself meaning also like our
00:04:17guy gino um and i i just felt like they weren't going to be able to score enough points in
00:04:2310 minutes
00:04:23or at least you know you know do enough in 10 minutes to tie the game i just it kind
00:04:29of got
00:04:29away from us they had that long drive that 73 yard drive that you know the you know most of
00:04:35those
00:04:35yards via penalty or half of those yards but i i just didn't think they were gonna win it was
00:04:40we're still stunned i mean the fan base for the most part still stunned we don't even know what
00:04:44happened and now you're trying to justify or trying to think about you know going two and one
00:04:51um via you know by beating detroit and i can't get there and i i think a lot of fans
00:04:58are starting
00:04:58to realize like damn one and two staring us right in the face and hopefully this thing doesn't start
00:05:04spiraling a bit because energy and momentum is everything in sports and it feels like a lot of
00:05:10that got taken away from us on sunday yeah i mean uh it from from our standpoint right like aaron
00:05:18glenn
00:05:18as a defense coordinator thought he had a really good day on sunday aaron glenn the head coach did
00:05:23not have a good game uh frank reich we we we didn't love what we saw out there from the
00:05:27offense i think
00:05:28there were plays out there that could still be had um and cause i want to spin this forward now
00:05:32into the
00:05:33this week three matchup because glenn's going back to detroit he's very familiar with dan campbell
00:05:39and this team he's practiced against jared goff amon rod jameer gibbs sam laporta all these guys on
00:05:45offense so from him from a defensive standpoint there is a lot of familiarity here but how valuable
00:05:51can that familiarity be now that he is two years removed from the organization uh what are you
00:05:56like i guess analyzing and looking at from his standpoint of how he's going to approach this
00:06:01i don't think it really matters much right to be honest with you really ben johnson was the
00:06:06coordinator when aaron glenn was there right they've been through i think this is their maybe third
00:06:10coordinator since ben johnson left right so i don't think it really matters i think he knows
00:06:16the basic tenets of like what dan campbell wants to do he's probably going to have ironically enough
00:06:21a good feel for gambles game management when we talked about all week like i think he'll know that
00:06:26stuff but yeah like i don't i don't put much value in knowing jared goff or alvin rossi and brown
00:06:32like
00:06:32i don't know um it's more to me about the scheme and the scheme is completely different so i think
00:06:38if
00:06:38anything the lions probably have an advantage they probably know what aaron glenn wants to do on
00:06:42defense better than anybody else in the nfl and because he hasn't he's only had two games on film
00:06:47with the jets so i i'm going to think you know campbell and dan campbell and aaron glenn have had
00:06:53a
00:06:53million conversations about defense since their days as saints assistants to their time in detroit so
00:06:59they probably have a pretty good idea of how aaron glenn is going to attack them someday frankie you feel
00:07:05the same way i do i do feel the same way i think it's gonna all depend on confusing jared
00:07:13goff and
00:07:14the things that aaron glenn has to do against jared goff are going to depend on the things that their
00:07:19offensive coordinator wants to do against aaron glenn's defense and again there's no relation
00:07:23there so i just think there's such a timing based offense that uh i think the one thing that will
00:07:31matter
00:07:31i think is is the emotions behind it i think aaron glenn is really gonna want this one and almost
00:07:36needs this one so i think he might put in that extra hour in the office quote unquote so we'll
00:07:42we'll
00:07:42see but uh i don't think from a scheme x's and o's perspective i know people are trying to make
00:07:47it out
00:07:47to be like oh there's connections there there's something i mean like you know goff versus glenn's
00:07:53defense was something that they went you know and didn't camp so i'm sure you know over and over again
00:07:58i'm sure there's some tendencies there that glenn knows of with with goff vice versa by the way goff
00:08:04knows probably the things glenn wants to do i think it's gonna be a heavy blitz day though i just
00:08:08think glenn's gonna want to get after goff we'll get probably get into that a little bit later but i
00:08:13think if you're looking at like a strategy and a scheme point of view as to like what you want
00:08:17to
00:08:17do against jared goff i think getting after him and force him off his spot is definitely the way to
00:08:22rattle him and and stop that lions offense a bit yeah felt a little uh i mean this is i
00:08:28i think i
00:08:29think you guys will both agree this feels like the strength on strength discussion would be the lions
00:08:33offense versus jets defense right now just because of the way these teams have played lately in the
00:08:37first two weeks um and and i think some of the discourse that's been happening now cause just a
00:08:42little bit is did the jets really not get enough pressure on jordan love i mean he really wasn't able
00:08:48to
00:08:48do much offensively through the air until the fourth quarter um and and it felt like glenn did
00:08:53not blitz him as much as he could have on sunday uh they only i think generated nine pressures versus
00:08:58jordan love what what do you need to see from this jets defensive line against the detroit lions offense
00:09:04and to get that pressure on jared goff yeah i didn't think that was an issue sunday ryan against
00:09:10green bay because i think green bay came out committed to getting the ball out quick like think about early
00:09:14in the game all the screens they were running short passes and remember the viking
00:09:18had killed them the week before with the blitzes and so they were expecting pressure and i think
00:09:23they were trying to help an offensive line that was beat up so i thought glenn blitzed i think 40
00:09:28percent of the time or something i thought that was enough i i didn't think that was the issue sunday
00:09:32yeah i i think glenn this is who he is he likes to blitz i think they're gonna blitz a
00:09:36lot um i do
00:09:38think you know you need to see some pressure here i know watching the game the lions bills game
00:09:43you know panay sewell's now on the left side and it seems like he's having a little bit of an
00:09:47adjustment there we know how great he was as a right tackle but the bills had success russo
00:09:53uh bradley chubb they were in there all night so to me yeah the blitz is nice but can they
00:09:58can they
00:09:58get some pressure with will mcdonald uh he he's not on the injury report now like he was last week
00:10:03uh can you know david bailey have more success and get in there i think it's more about just can
00:10:10they create pressure with their front four than the blitz is right frankie uh jared goff through two
00:10:15games 52 of 77 533 yards six touchdowns no interceptions a 113 passer rating and it's an
00:10:23offense that is averaging 31 points through the first two games the jets have given up the second
00:10:27least amount of yards uh in terms of total yardage uh for a defense so what are you paying attention
00:10:34to
00:10:34most in this matchup between the detroit lions offense and the jets defense we got to get an
00:10:40interception guys i mean like just just you know point blank you just brought up those stats i mean
00:10:46they're gonna throw the ball or try to throw the ball all over the yard you're gonna have to get
00:10:50a
00:10:50turnover i don't know if we're gonna be able to jump on fumbles i mean we we were one of
00:10:54five
00:10:54on sunday so i think getting an interception and the momentum that that would bring to your defense
00:11:00the first one and what it would be now game 20 um that's a good thing i think they have
00:11:06to do that i i
00:11:07think i think the secondary needs to come into this game and be uber aggressive i think jump on
00:11:12some passes if if if if you miss and then they get a big play they're gonna matriculate probably down
00:11:19the field anyway so um just make some plays try to be a little more aggressive i i i don't
00:11:25see these
00:11:26guys in the second i see them doing in the run game i see them being aggressive in the run
00:11:31game i don't
00:11:32see this secondary being an aggressive enough in the passing game meaning try to jump on passes
00:11:37they're kind of okay which is settling and they're being and they're doing a better job
00:11:42of making tackles so you're not giving up big plays and this team's gotten tremendously better
00:11:47versus last year in terms of tackling but i gotta see these guys someone ball hawk something or do
00:11:53something we have to see it a safety try to jump on something cisco had a really good game last
00:11:58week
00:11:58jump on a ball and try to get you know pick six or something if you do that that'll get
00:12:03into goff's head
00:12:04that'll bring some energy to your defense and i do agree with what cause said instead of just having
00:12:09a hope for you know you know pressure via the blitz if you can get pressure which is bailey and
00:12:15mcdonald that helps you a bunch also so um this is a big game for those two and and and
00:12:22cause is also
00:12:23right with the penne soul point he is not transitioning to left that seamlessly but you're two games in so
00:12:30i
00:12:30mean it's going to take some time so i'm curious as to that matchup i know i know bailey likes
00:12:35to
00:12:36play on the right side or or versus the right tackle more but um that'll be cool to see him
00:12:41line
00:12:41up a few times against penne and uh the catalyst guys is is the first guy cause brought up will
00:12:47mcdonald he was he was non-existent last week i don't know if injuries had something to do with
00:12:52that i'm sure they did it's got to get after the quarterback like that's what you're there for he
00:12:57he's a bit of a liability against the run which bailey isn't by the way which a lot of people
00:13:01thought he would be i don't think he is but mcdonald is and and you know the run stopping the
00:13:07run's not their issue but getting home if they can't do it this game will be an issue you have
00:13:12to get sock you have to get goff sacked you have to bring him down cause i think uh there's
00:13:18no secret
00:13:18jared goff is a pocket quarterback he's not going to be scrambling out of the pocket trying to make
00:13:22plays with his legs he's going to try and beat you from the pocket and uh be quick and decisive
00:13:26so while i agree that the jets are going to try to blitz him i think there's also the point
00:13:31of
00:13:32when goff has a like trying to get him off his spot in the pocket right not not giving him
00:13:37a clean
00:13:37pocket will matter uh in 2025 goff when he had a clean pocket his uh completion percentage was 75.9
00:13:44when he's under pressure and he doesn't have a clean pocket his completion percentage was 50.8 so
00:13:50there's a drastic difference there in terms of if you can get pressure on him and force him to off
00:13:54his
00:13:54spot it you should theoretically be able to get more balls that maybe frankie's saying an
00:14:00interception or two um and the jets have limited those explosive plays too what have you noticed
00:14:07so far from this jets defense through the first two weeks yeah you just hit on it they really haven't
00:14:12given up explosive plays too much and i think that's part of what frankie's talking about like
00:14:16they have to take chances you take chances you give up explosive plays right so i think it's been
00:14:22a point of emphasis for everyone going is not to give up those explosive plays they basically said
00:14:27like against green bay you know they they told the safety is like nothing nothing's getting over the
00:14:32top um i so i think that's the emphasis here and i think this is a tough team to do
00:14:39that against
00:14:39they are just so explosive you know almond rock really is so good and then gibbs jameson williams
00:14:46really didn't do anything last week against the bills but we know what he can do
00:14:50um you know the tight end is great so it's this is a very tough tough task
00:14:56right for the defense and to me i'm sure we're spinning it this way maybe i'll spin it now
00:15:02that's what makes this game all about the jets offense to me because you know you may have heard
00:15:07i said this to aaron glenn yesterday like this isn't going to be 13 10 which he laughed when i
00:15:13said it
00:15:13but like even if the defense plays really well how many points the lions scored 20 20 24 points
00:15:22probably right yeah they scored the line they hold the lines to 20 points you're like wow that was a
00:15:26good job by the jets they scored 31 the last two games so this to me is can the jets
00:15:31offense keep up
00:15:32and can they can they put up the points needed to win this game look you you mentioned some of
00:15:37the
00:15:38the players there that you uh you're that are so explosive for this lions offense if you're aaron
00:15:44glenn you can't guard all of them but who is the one guy and i'm interested in both your opinions
00:15:50i'll
00:15:50start with you guys who's the one guy you're like i cannot let this guy go off on me today
00:15:56i mean it's either aminrah or gibbs to me
00:16:00boy that's tough i'd probably say aminrah i'd probably like you know i'd probably try to take him
00:16:06away but man then gibbs is gonna kill it i think it's it's the old belichick right right belichick
00:16:11take the best player away i don't know who the best player is between those two they're both so good
00:16:15i completely agree frankie what do you got can i go to someone on defense
00:16:23someone uh a name that no one's brought up too too many times last couple days how about our old
00:16:28friend dj reed i'd if i'm geno smith i'd be a little bit careful because dj reed's balling over there
00:16:34don't throw one up there too long right wait hold on hold on we're talking about all these
00:16:40great players he frankie's saying dj reed come on dj reed's been playing good cause all right two
00:16:46weeks i'm gonna say aminrah st brown or jameer gibbs come on boy i thought you were gonna go
00:16:52hutchinson when you started defense which i get teasing a little bit no no i'm gonna on offense
00:16:59guys that jameer gibbs kid is unreal i mean like he's he's he's maybe the best running back in
00:17:07football if you cannot bring him down with the first tackler he's gonna take it for another you
00:17:14know 20 30 yards so they better we'll see how well the jets are against the run or neutralizing
00:17:22the outside because we saw that last year was a big issue for aaron glenn's defense even though it
00:17:28wasn't but let's just say he's the head coach for that defense last year they could not stop
00:17:33guys bouncing it to the outside we haven't had a back yet that we've played that really does that
00:17:38let's see how jamie and sherwood and demario davis and these defensive linemen look running
00:17:44sideline to sideline or az thomas and these guys in the secondary that have looked really good
00:17:48in the run game let's see how you look now against jameer gibbs that that's that's the cream of
00:17:53the crop right there so that that to me is a big test as to like how i view this
00:17:58defense how i view
00:17:59what aaron glenn's doing um he's probably the best at that in the nfl i think detroit they predicate
00:18:04themselves on explosive plays plays over 20 yards and they have the weapons like cause is saying and
00:18:10you too frankie like i think there was some of a formula last week with the bills how they they
00:18:16attack the detroit lions take away the run game if you can limit the run game like you're saying
00:18:20frankie against jameer gibbs i i think cause it it it gets detroit off of what they want to really
00:18:27do
00:18:27which is a lot of play action and getting the ball into amin ross saint brown with the short yardage
00:18:32situation third and short second and short um so if you can limit those runs of like five six seven
00:18:37yards on first down and you can limit gibbs which is again that is a very difficult test for this
00:18:43defense to have to do to mario davis and jamie and sherwood those two guys have to be able to
00:18:48like
00:18:48frankie said wrap him up and take him down on that first hit uh because if you can't stop the
00:18:54run
00:18:54i think detroit's gonna really they're gonna they're gonna expose you down in the deep end
00:18:58the back end because i don't think the jets really have the guys to run with amin ron jamison williams
00:19:03on the outside yeah and the bills really took the run game away by going up 21 nothing correct
00:19:08correct yeah he did yeah it was but they were playing from behind like they were playing on
00:19:14their heels from the start so that's again can the jets score points here and not let that let
00:19:20not let the lions completely dictate this game i completely agree they got them off their game
00:19:25script but at the same time like they even in early on in that game i watched the film back
00:19:30for
00:19:30the buffalo like they make clean tackles in the box like when gibbs was coming through the
00:19:35tackle to tackle they had guys ready to rock and roll like boom four yards down three yards down
00:19:41so they were limiting them early on um and i just it's this is by far the best offense the
00:19:47jets are
00:19:48facing in through three weeks it's not even it's not even a question when it comes to that um frankie
00:19:53david bailey there's been some discourse here over again this week and i think we're getting way too
00:19:58crazy in the weeds about a rookie who's drafted number two overall um you know some people are saying
00:20:03hey he's not producing enough it's crazy to me he's got two sacks already two games they're not
00:20:07conventional they're unconventional sacks you're waiting for that conventional one it's like i get
00:20:11it but at the end of the day i went through the film he's making pressures on the quarterbacks
00:20:17he's forcing incompletions so while you're not seeing the quote-unquote production which is crazy
00:20:22to me because he has two sacks already he's impacting this game tremendously from the defensive line
00:20:28man if you i i say this all the time if you go through nick benito's sacks last year or
00:20:36go through
00:20:36aiden hutchinson's three sacks he has this year you're gonna find one or two or 30 or 40 percent of
00:20:43them that kind of look like the bailey sacks that he's had now it just happens that his two sacks
00:20:49both
00:20:50look like that so you know people are wondering when are we gonna see a clean win yeah he's had
00:20:56some
00:20:56clean wins when you know love scrambled on the goal line he would have won that rep i mean he
00:21:04might
00:21:04have gotten a clean sack there for all the kids done thus far you can't ask for any more because
00:21:10a lot of the things that we were worried about with bailey or people were worried about with bailey
00:21:15he's shown that he is a team player he is going to be able to play all over the field
00:21:20he is a hustler
00:21:21to the football he does have a motor that doesn't stop and he's extremely strong and ryan he's
00:21:26just trying to figure himself out in the nfl right now you could see him a few games in just
00:21:31trying to understand what he can and can't get away with he's not overdoing his his pass rush moves
00:21:37you'll see those as he keeps going on and on i will say if you're expecting a von miller bend
00:21:43on the
00:21:43outside and a clean win you're not or demarcus ware kind of win you're not going to get that with
00:21:48this
00:21:48guy that's not the kind of player he is but he's better than those guys in b gap if if
00:21:54he wants to be
00:21:55he can do things on the inside because he's stronger i think than those guys plays with better
00:21:59leverage at times too so give it some time i mean listen all the pressure stats people like them
00:22:06people hate them i'm not obsessed with them to be honest i know they work in my favor with with
00:22:10the
00:22:11bailey propaganda club but um you know but i'm not gonna go crazy but every single metric guys when it
00:22:18comes to pressure rates you want to go to true media next gen pff whichever site you want to go
00:22:23to he's a top of the league i mean he's just he's he's the only rookies right well yeah for
00:22:29rookies
00:22:30but also he's he has what he has eight pressures most amongst rookies but he's 13th in the nfl total
00:22:36rye with pressures there's only 12 guys ahead of him in the entire nfl right now uh and he's has
00:22:41the
00:22:41most pressures through a player's first two games since true media sports started recording the stat in
00:22:462016 so you're looking at almost a 25 pressure rate in a player's first two games which is number
00:22:52one only player and if you look at that list you know you got the joey boasts is nick boasts
00:22:56is miles
00:22:57garrett to the world so it's a really good list to be on it's not like there's a bunch of
00:23:00rando list
00:23:02uh rando names on that list so um yeah i just you can't ask for more there's a reason he's
00:23:08still he's
00:23:08the betting favorite to win defensive rookie of the year and that and that gap's gone a little wider
00:23:14since you know he started playing so listen there's a reason our defense looks the way it
00:23:19does and i'm telling you he has peace to do with it for sure because uh d'angelo ponds was
00:23:26inactive
00:23:26last week and uh he's practicing again this week would you expect him to suit up this week and that
00:23:32is quite the matchup he's gonna have to face against those guys if he's being active this week
00:23:35yeah i would expect him to but i thought he was going to last week rye so yeah i don't
00:23:40know what's
00:23:40going on there really i don't know what they're telling us the truth or not um about why he didn't
00:23:44play so i would expect him to um i still don't think he's just going to take over for brownlee
00:23:51you know brownlee had the horrible penalty last week but he hasn't been you know horrible out there
00:23:57so i i think they'll probably ease ponds in but i would i would be surprised if he's inactive this
00:24:03week
00:24:03and i also ride could are there t-shirts for the bailey propaganda club somewhere somewhere we can
00:24:10order those i see where are you falling on this do you not agree with frankie's assessment so far
00:24:17yeah no i think he's been i mean maybe not as good as frankie he's been good i don't find
00:24:22i don't know
00:24:23why he's getting criticized he's been fine and you know that like people can say the one against
00:24:27the packers last week on the first place a cheap sack okay but why why'd that sack happen because
00:24:32bailey flared out when he saw the running back and what was clearly gonna throw the running back and
00:24:37then couldn't throw and had to tuck it down and he brings him down you know at the line or
00:24:41whatever so
00:24:42i think he's played well i i haven't seen anywhere i'm like oh my god this kid's getting killed and
00:24:46i
00:24:46thought he i thought he improved from week one to week two i thought he was better so i i
00:24:51don't know why
00:24:52that's a discussion point at all uh we see mega fitzpatrick still on the injury report would you
00:24:57expect him to be active or no he's gonna be out yeah so they're gonna be down fitzpatrick their
00:25:02quarterback on the secondary again but like like you guys were saying before cisco had a pretty
00:25:06strong game last week uh but this is the real step up in class when you're going from christian
00:25:10watson and matthew golden to amin ra jamison williams and jameer gibbs and sam laporta what are you
00:25:17gonna be paying attention to cause for that whole secondary yeah i don't even think it's just the
00:25:22stepping up in class right i think when you have a player like cisco and even belton i would put
00:25:29in
00:25:29this category you're tempting fate the more plays they play right uh yeah you know i've told this
00:25:35story before that that i when i had my mike patten one time told me there's some players you you
00:25:41love
00:25:41at 300 snaps but you don't love them as much as a thousand snaps right so it's like guys can
00:25:46play a
00:25:47limit you know you can get you can get by with a guy for a game or two so the
00:25:51longer that these guys
00:25:53are out there i think the more risk you're running if you're the jets i completely agree with you uh
00:25:58and and but this is also the point where if aaron glenn's gonna lean on his superpower he's gotta he's
00:26:05gotta be able to call a good defense here and get these guys sound against this offense in detroit
00:26:09all right guys let's flip it like you said uh jets offense week one looked awesome right and we even
00:26:16thought there was even opportunity for more plays for them to make out there week two not good and
00:26:22it wasn't efficient they didn't get anything going on the ground game uh and through the air we all

00:26:39about the play seems to be getting coming into the huddle late and he's going up to line a scrimmage
00:26:43and every single time he's calling a play or they're snapping the ball it's at the end of the play
00:26:48clock and and i think there's there's different ways to go about this thought process when you're
00:26:55when you're an offense and you're operating that close to the end of a play clock you're giving the
00:26:59defense the the literal time of like i know when you're going to snap the ball and you're giving
00:27:04them an advantage to get off against your offensive tackles which could lead to your your
00:27:09armand membus and olu fashioners having weak games like they did last week they didn't have
00:27:12great games you're not keeping the defense honest and you're and you're not keeping them on their
00:27:16heels so that's one thing the other thing though is like when you're in parts of the game where it's
00:27:20like i'm trying to wind down the clock that's different where it's like i'm letting the play
00:27:25clock run out we're trying to kill as much time and clock as we want as we want this alone
00:27:28be a long
00:27:29drive that's different so what did you make of gino's comments yesterday about the play clock and
00:27:35and why the play's coming in late so much not much right i think gino is like i don't i

00:27:41everything gino says right now like to us is like so programmed like i don't know what happened to

00:28:12they clearly were not getting the plays in something was going on it wasn't the operation was not good

00:28:24something they have to speed up and they will i mean i think second game of the season so you

00:31:26some didn't but it just felt like he really wasn't as decisive last week so cause how does frank
00:31:33reich get gino to take advantage of this this detroit defense is one it right now it's not on
00:31:39a good pace in track record of getting up a ton of yardage and points how do they take advantage

00:45:51just had a really rough day the packers just had their number with the stunts up front they seemed
00:45:56confused um and then i thought the play calling didn't do it any good like when you saw the best
00:46:02run of the day was an outside run by breeze on the side along the jet sideline remember that they
00:46:06had
00:46:06that one series why didn't we see more of that i know like why weren't they attacking the outside
00:46:12attacking the perimeter with breeze more it seemed like they were content to run it in the middle of
00:46:16the line when nothing was happening like you just couldn't do it so i'm not putting that all on
00:46:20breeze frankie i get what you're saying i think he's really good uh i don't think he's the in the
00:46:26level of gibbs and robinson like where he can create with where there's nothing i think breeze
00:46:31needs a hole i think he needs a little bit in there and that's okay i think he needs some

00:46:35the blocking i think he needs some help in the play calling so we'll see if this week if that's
00:46:40better um but like you to your point he showed how dynamic he is with his hands you know on

00:46:51completely like i haven't seen him at all and and to me breeze's worst play of the game came in

00:47:05great at pass protection so to me that was like why isn't isaiah davis in there like he's a much
00:47:11better pass protector i guess you're revealing you're throwing but i think it's overtime you
00:47:16probably knew they were throwing that situation anyway so like put isaiah davis in there to block
00:47:20um you know you're you're not putting breeze out on a route so you're not losing that anyway
00:47:25but yeah i i um you know frank reich didn't have a great day i thought sunday and i and

00:47:32i'm gonna put that on him in the line more than breeze frankie but you know i can't believe he's
00:47:37the most frustrating player of your life frankie because you know what that is quite the take

00:49:16addressing the center and left guard position there's no they did i agree and i think that is
00:49:20going to bite them when they go up against teams that want to run stunt them and have big bodies

00:49:24the middle i don't think they have enough power in the middle joe titman's a light running center
00:49:28he's great on the on the run when you're pulling him and you're putting him in those run plays on
00:49:32the on the perimeter but i don't think he's a big enough body to move people so when you have
00:49:37membu who's a mauler fashion who's pretty pretty solid in the run game and then you have a guy in
00:49:41parham and and myers who i would call them most likely below average to to backup almost in terms
00:49:48of what they are right now i don't think you have enough of beef up there in the middle to
00:49:52create these big run plays with breeze and he's not jameer gibbs but i think that frank reich still
00:49:58has the ability with the tight end personnel for extra blockers with the perimeters on the on the
00:50:04outside to keep boxes honest opposing defensive boxes honest where breeze should have some some good
00:50:10running lanes that's on frank reich though i think he's got to be able to develop that and figure
