00:12Hello and welcome to Gang Zola here. Week 2. This is our preview show, the Jets vs. Packers,
00:17the whiteout game this Sunday. The Jets have started the season 1-0 after an impressive win
00:22over the Tennessee Titans. We're here to break down the matchup against the Green Bay Packers
00:25for the Jets' home opener. We couldn't be more excited to be here. Kaz, before I get to you
00:31and say hi to you, I found a mystery partner here who was missing from our Week 1 preview
00:36from last week. Week 1 holdout, man. Week 1 holdout. He's joined the team now. Yeah, he's
00:43joined the team now. After some success from the Jets, of course, now he wants to join the
00:47show. Yeah, now he's on board. Listen, guys, yeah, that is true, actually. No, but
00:55in all reality, I had a situation I had to deal with. You guys remember the little fender
01:00bender I got into in Italy? I had to speak with some people in Italy. I lost track of
01:09time. Are you a fugitive? No, no, no, I'm not. I'm a little concerned, Kaz. We have a felon
01:16on our show right now. Don't do a background check, guys. No, I had to call some people there
01:23about something with the rental. It's they want me to pay more than I should. And I literally
01:28lost track of time and Ryan had started the show. So he's like, you know what? We're not
01:32just going to let you in right now. I'm like, all right. All right. Sorry. Well, I know
01:36all Jets fans know Tanky V is rooting against the Jets team this year. So I didn't want him
01:40to come on the show and pick against the Jets. However, Mr. Costello did pick against the
01:45Jets last week. You know, since that pick, Kaz, and we talked to you on Monday as well,
01:51I guess I want to get a vibe check from you on this Jets team. You know, has your thought
01:56process about this team changed at all? Or you know what, Ryan, that's a really bad Titans
02:01team. You know, this is the real test this week against the Packers you're looking forward
02:05to. Yeah, a little bit of both. I do think, you know, that was a bad Titans team and I
02:11need
02:11to see more before I truly believe they've turned it, but the, the vibes are good around
02:16the Jets right now. And I do think they have a, you know, we've talked about the veteran
02:21leadership at all, and that's always a conversation, but you can sort of feel it this week. I think
02:28like in the Jets locker room and I don't know, I, I, I think they're in a good place right
02:34now mentally. And so we'll see, but yeah, like the Packers are, you know, step up in class
02:40and then I think the lions and bears are even a step up from that right now with the Packers
02:46kind of going through some stuff with, with injuries and their offensive line and everything
02:49going on there. No doubt. And, and you could see it even with Garrett Wilson's comments,
02:55which I thought were really impressive yesterday. Again, he just, he speaks so well and he speaks
02:59about the fans and their mindset and how, you know, he wants that he wants to win for us.
03:03Like he, he, he, I could see he wears it on his sleeve. He wears it on his chest, how
03:07he wants
03:07to, you know, make this team a winner and, and change the narrative around this franchise
03:12and winning is the only way that's going to ever change. Frankie, now that we're one week
03:15into the season, the Jets beat up on the Titans. What were your thoughts?
03:19Listen, man, it was just a clean game. You don't often see the Jets win in every facet
03:25of a football game. They won at the line of scrimmage. They won at the second level.
03:31They won in the secondary. They won with their quarterback play on the ground in the trenches.
03:37I mean, just name it special teams. It was a very impressive victory. You usually don't
03:42see the Jets or you didn't expect the Jets to have such a clean victory. And that's a
03:47testament to the coaching staff. I've ripped on Aaron Glenn probably as, you know, as much
03:53as anyone has. And to see, to see that game plan defensively and what Frank Reich did with
03:58the offense, that's an impressive victory. So I can't hate that much right now. I have
04:04to respect what I saw. I was telling people, it's nice to see a decisive win where it's
04:10almost more impressive winning that way than winning, you know, a 37, 34 shootout that you
04:15had the ball last and you get it, you know, you know, you get the last field goal. We controlled
04:19the game from start to finish. There was no doubt. And like we spoke about Ryan and Kaz on the
04:26post game show when we came out of the second half cause they got the ball punted. We scored.
04:31They got the ball punted. We kicked a field goal. We went from 10, three to 20 to three
04:36games over. I mean, that's how you'd win football games. That's how the best teams
04:40have time adjustments. We're really excited by this team. And that's something Kaz had
04:43highlighted about what he was anxious to see this team. And Kaz, I think another, uh, you
04:48know, storyline going into this game, besides the fact that, you know, this is a much better
04:51opponent is, you know, Glenn, we heard speak about, you know, he was asked if this was
04:56a statement game coming up this week against the Packers. Uh, he said, I think each week
05:00we're trying to make a statement. It doesn't matter who it is. I think we all know our history
05:04and we're trying to change that history from your point of view, Kaz, can this be a statement
05:10game for the jets? If they can pull off the victory versus the Packers?
05:13Well, a hundred percent. And I was the brilliant mind that asked that question, Brian. So, uh,
05:19yeah, a hundred percent this is. And, and it very, this very much reminds me of 2015 right
05:24now. And I wrote about this a few weeks ago. Like, could they do this? In 2015, they came
05:29out and beat a bad Browns team in week one with Johnny Manziel as the quarterback. And
05:33then they went to Indianapolis on Monday night in week two. And this is Andrew Luck Colts.
05:38They'd been in the championship game the year before and they beat the Colts on Monday
05:42night football there. And it was like, okay, wow. Like this team is for real. And, um, I
05:48think the jets can make the same type of statement this Sunday. The Packers are a perennial playoff
05:52team. They have a really good quarterback. They have a really good coach. There's obviously
05:57some holes, you know, that with Michael Parsons being down, Josh Jacobs being out the offensive
06:02line at our awful game last week, but this is a legitimate team. The Packers that are going
06:08to be contending for the playoffs. And so if the jets can win this, they can get you
06:12view them completely differently. Number one and number two, Ryan, they go into that
06:17Detroit, Chicago, back to back with house money. Yeah. They lose those two games. You're
06:21two and two entering October, which is when, you know, we think they can, the Browns, the
06:26Raiders, the dolphins, there's some games that they can win there. Totally. Now you're two
06:29and two. The season looks completely different. Yeah. It's, it's a great comparison by you about
06:34the 2015. And man, if they could pull off this win, Frankie, it would remind you a lot
06:39of that 2015 magical year that they had with Fitzpatrick. Uh, and it's just so ironic
06:44the fact that that all started with the Gino punch out and whatnot. And Fitzpatrick became
06:49the starting quarterback. And now we've come full circle to Gino being the starter again
06:53here.
06:54It's crazy. I know we've talked about Gino a lot and obviously like, oh, 10 years and
06:59stuff, but it really hit me in Tennessee. Eric Decker was outside the locker room after
07:04the game. Oh, and I haven't seen Eric Decker. I haven't seen Eric Decker in a long time.
07:09And so I would have said hello to him. And it struck me like he played with Gino and like
07:15Eric Decker hasn't been on the team in 10 years.
07:18And it's like, it was kind of like, wow, I know that I know it's been a long time, but
07:22it was, was a jarring moment for me and a realization of just, yeah, how, just how long
07:26it's been and crazy this Gino story is.
07:29Frankie, uh, we know that it's going to be the white out this week, which is why I wear
07:32are you wearing white for that? Right? I am. I purposely put a white shirt on today
07:36for the white out. And I put a black shirt on. I made the studio white as well behind
07:40us. Normally it's green for the jets. I got it white today for us. I'm trying to play
07:45in the theme. You're all in. I'm all in. All in. Listen, I said it was must win last
07:49week and I was so thoroughly impressed with the performance of everyone last week. Uh,
07:53but I got to spin this to you, Frankie, right? Like you're so easy to get back all in
07:56though. That's all it takes. I'm a fan. It takes one win like that and you're all in
08:00already. Listen, if it was like a field goal win over the teams, I'd be like, Oh God,
08:04like we're going to slide this. That was impressive. Yeah, it was impressive. When
08:08we get to the actual impressive parts of the game from last week and what they can
08:12carry over into this, this game this week, Frankie, I, I, I like the fact that Glenn
08:16acknowledges we're here to change the history. Like we understand what the narrative is
08:20around this team. If they can pull off this victory against a playoff team last year.
08:25And like cause said is, is looking like a playoff team again this year. How impressed would
08:29you be? And would this be a big statement for Aaron Glenn's tenure? Absolutely, man.
08:33And I think green Bay is they're there for the taking, man. They're they they've lost
08:39six games in a row. They're going back to last year. Yeah. Going back to last year. They're
08:44they're looking at their coach a little bit sideways. Now, is he the right guy here?
08:47The fans are for sure. For sure. This is a game. You just got to kind of like, I hate
08:52using the term like stepping on their necks, but like, you got to do it. Like you, you have
08:56a team that just lost against the Vikings who started their, their third stringer, you
09:02know, arguably Carson Wentz, you got to get this victory. This is such a momentum swing
09:08for the jets in the positive direction. You know, it's like Aaron Glenn speaks about create
09:13your own momentum. This is as big of a momentum pull as he's ever going to, as he's had here
09:19for sure, man. It's a home game. You have tickets. Now cause are over a hundred bucks.
09:26I saw they last year, you could find tickets for like 20 bucks. That's nice to see. Right.
09:30Jet home games are, you know, the minimum tickets over a hundred like that, that
09:34How many Packers fans do you think are going to be? That's a good question.
09:38They don't know. Yeah. There's a lot of them. There'll be a lot of cheese heads there in
09:42at MetLife. And I, I wanted to go into the offense. The jets are going to be running here.
09:47Frank Reich spoke today cause some interesting comments from him. Look, everyone's highlighting
09:52the, the five tight end personnel package and how special that looked on the field. And
09:57will we see that again, by the way, do you think? What do you think? Will we see five
10:01tight? Cause I was saying we may not see that personnel package again, just throwing that
10:05out there. That's like a one. We'll see it right away. Maybe at some point, you know, but
10:09I think the interesting thing that we really should talk about causes the identity of this
10:14offense, right? Like we, we talked about how they should lean more on the run game cause
10:19they have Brees and Braylon. And we saw a lot of that last week. And I wonder, does
10:23that carry over again into this week where let's lean on the run? The weather is supposed
10:27to be God awful. It seems like Sunday with a lot of rain. Uh, can they lean on the run
10:31game again where it's Gino, just be efficient. Don't turn the ball over, be the point guard
10:37of this offense, but let's lean on this run game again. Yeah. I think the key with that
10:42is playing from in front, right. Or at least having a close that they fall behind. That's
10:47when you abandon that stuff and that's the beginning of trouble. But I love Ryan watching
10:51the game back. One of the most impressive things was the cohesiveness that the offensive
10:58line played with and the tight ends. Like so many years we've watched the jets and guys are
11:03at different levels or like, it just doesn't look right on the offensive line. You know,
11:09they're, they're just not executing with the combination blocks that they were, they're pulling
11:14a record was coming down with wham blocks, like on Jeffrey Simmons. Like they, it just looked
11:20like they played it exactly how it was drawn up. And I thought that, that was impressive.
11:25They just, it was like a cohesive unit, which is not something we've seen a lot of through
11:30the years. So yeah, but I don't see why not. They, they, they keep, keep the running game
11:35going. And like I said, as long as they're playing from the front, I think that's where
11:40the question becomes the, you know, the will, they love to talk about the cliche of complimentary
11:44football, but can the defense really keep the offense on track? So to speak, can the defense
11:50keep the Packers out of the end zone so that the jets can do what they want offensively?
11:54No doubt. No doubt. And I think Frankie also the, the heavy tight end use of the jets
11:59offense and Frank Reich. A lot of people, when I think they hear three, four tight end
12:03sets, they're like, oof, that's really conservative. You're not really spreading the, you're spreading
12:07the offense out and trying to pass it. But what do you make of the fact that Frank
12:11is Frank Reich is literally diving into the, probably the strength of this team, which
12:15is the offensive line that cause pointed out and the tight ends that are pretty good
12:18blockers as well. Yeah. If you remember, and cause we spoke about this. If you remember
12:24when we spoke about the best group out there during camp, you could have said it was
12:28a tight end group. Yeah. I mean, I know Kenyon Sadiq wasn't practicing really, but you're
12:32kind of projecting his talent. Mason Taylor looked like maybe the best player on the offense.
12:36Jelani Woods making plays, Andrew Beck's there blocking, making plays. So that room is something
12:42that has a little bit of everything. You have the traditional kind of fullback type in Andrew
12:46Beck, Jelani Woods. Then you get a little bit more on the tight end side, Mason Taylor,
12:50that possession guy. And then Sadiq can kind of do a little bit of everything. It's an impressive
12:55room and you want opposing defenses and defensive coordinators to look at those guys literally on
13:02a field or have your defenders look at them and say, we don't know what's coming next. And if you
13:06remember on that Sadiq end around, you're seeing other tight ends blocking for your tight end,
13:12taking an end around hitting 20 miles an hour plus and scoring, you know, first touchdown of the
13:17season. That's impressive. And I don't know how much that'll work throughout the year.
13:22I still believe in a more traditional kind of football sense of like, you know,
13:27got your wide receivers to catch and you got your running backs to run. But if you can confuse teams
13:33with your tight ends, damn, double and triple down on it, which it seems like they're doing.
13:38Mason Taylor is somebody I think this game, Minnesota, excuse me, Minnesota, Green Bay is a little
13:43susceptible versus the tight end, especially across the middle of the field. I think Mason Taylor
13:48can shake off some of those, you know, bad vibes from from game one and come in and have a
13:54pretty
13:54decent game. So, yeah. And look, the boogeyman is not there, like I said, for the to the Packers
14:00defense. Micah Parsons will not be playing in this game. He's still on the pup list. Some other starters
14:05who are now dealing with concussions. We'll see what their participation is today in practice. We
14:10haven't seen that Packers injury report yet, but Lucas Van Ness, one of their edge players and
14:16Javon Hargrave, one of their defensive tackles caused both of them dealing with concussion
14:19protocol. So I'm interested to see if those guys will be active on Sunday because that could
14:26really affect, I think, this Packers defense and how the Jets would game plan that run
14:30against that that front seven and maybe have some more holes to open up when those guys aren't on
14:34the field. Yeah, you know, and I think the the injuries on the offense, too, you have to look at
14:41the offensive line. You know, Banks didn't play. I don't think he's going to play again
14:46this week. And they really, you know, Brian Flores brought the heat, but they the Packers
14:51also from I was reading the coverage. Well, Flore was saying they blew just a lot of assignments
14:56and they seem like a kind of a mess up front in front of Jordan Love. So I think that's
15:00something
15:01to watch as well. No doubt. And that that brings me to our next part of the show where we
15:05talk
15:05about the Shets defense. And look, it was absurd how many times Brian Flores did throw blitz at the
15:11Packers and Jordan Love last week. He still threw for 387 yards despite being bliss. I think at an
15:1781 percent clip, which is absurd. But I think this is the question, right, Kaz? How aggressive
15:24is too aggressive for Aaron Glenn in this defense when he's going to be throwing the blitz at Jordan
15:28Love? Yeah, I think overall, Ryan, the question, you know, when you talk about the Titans factor
15:34of this is like, oh, it was against the Titans. For me, that's about the defense more than the
15:39offense for the Jets. Like I thought the Jets offense operated like you could see the way the
15:44Jets offense operated and what they were doing. And that's going to be effective against good teams
15:48if they play like that. The Jets defense, they didn't get challenged, right? Like Cam Ward just
15:54looked lost and they couldn't run the ball. And it wasn't. How do I take any way from the Jets?
16:03But it
16:03the Titans just stunk on offense. And so I need to see this defense now against Jordan Love,
16:10against Matt LaFleur, see what they can do against the Packers. I've, you know, the secondary is still
16:14question mark for me. They only had one pass breakup last week and that was Demario. So they
16:22weren't really, they weren't really getting to the ball. Cam Ward's passes were just all over the
16:27place. They weren't even really close. Now you have no Minka, which I think is a huge factor,
16:32right? He's the, he's the quarterback back there. So that's going to affect them.
16:37So I have questions about the Jets defense still that I think this week is a really good test for
16:42them. No doubt. Minka is the quarterback of that secondary. It's going to be a tough blow for
16:46them to go without him. They're going up against guys like Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, who's
16:50a first round receiver, Tucker Craft, who's an excellent receiving tight end. They're going to have
16:54some weapons to have to go up against Frankie. But again, it's about how you get pressure on Jordan Love,
16:59not just the blitz, but you actually have to pressure him. Can you talk to us more about
17:03what your thoughts are on getting this blitz home for some pressures against Jordan Love
17:06for this Jets defense? Yeah. So for Jordan Love, I dove into this big time and it's a, it's
17:12different. There's a difference between blitzing Jordan Love and what the outcome is versus
17:17actually pressuring Jordan Love and what the outcome is against the blitz with without getting
17:22pressure. Jordan Love last year was fifth in the NFL. He had 109 and a half passer rating when he
17:28was
17:28pressured actually, which could come via blitz or not. He was 39 out of 41 quarterbacks. He had a 46
17:36.7
17:37passer rating with a clean pocket. He was first in the NFL last year and passer rating point there
17:43being, if you're going to want to be Jordan Love and what Matt LaFleur wants to do, not only do
17:48you
17:48have to send pressure, you got to get pressure there. You got to somewhat get home or hopefully get
17:53home. It's tough against Jordan Love. Cause I even looked into this. Jordan Love is the least
17:58sacked quarterback out of active guys right now that have had over 1500 attempts and he's actually
18:03seventh all time in lowest sack rate. So it's tough to bring Love down. So maybe the sack numbers
18:09won't get to where we think they may because that green Bay line, like you were saying causes a little
18:14beat up, but pressure him, you know, uh, Bailey had six pressures, you know, make him uncomfortable,
18:19get him off his spots, let him, let him rush his throws a little bit, speed his clock up.
18:25It's a lot of timing stuff. And I think their strategy guys, I think it's going to be get the
18:30ball out fast, a lot of slants. And this is going to put a lot of pressure on our corners
18:34to see if
18:35they can do the stuff that only DeMario did, which is have, you know, the lone past deflection last
18:40week, we're going to have to have their, our, our guys hitting the ball out on these,
18:44on these quick throws. Yeah. Look, cause we talk about complimentary football all the time.
18:48I also think about complimentary defense here. Like the front seven has to get pressure,
18:52even if it's, it's not a blitz to get pressure on Jordan love in order for that secondary to not
18:58have to play as long. Uh, and, and, you know, if it's a long developing play, that's when I get
19:04concerned about this jet secondary getting exposed, especially with the deep ball. Cause love loves
19:08Jordan love does love taking his shots, if the pun intended, uh, downfield. So how much pressure,
19:15again, I'm using more terms, but how much pressure is on that front seven to really get
19:18after Jordan love here? Yeah, I know. I think that's, that's huge, right? I think that that's
19:23the key, um, to help the secondary out. Um, you know, they, I thought they did a good job against
19:30Cam Ward. Um, he does hold the ball a little bit, but I thought Will McDonald had a really good
19:35game. You know, we haven't really talked about him a lot. Uh, obviously Bailey had the six
19:40pressures. I thought Anambari played pretty well. Uh, so, you know, and it's not going to be 90
19:46degrees. Like, I don't think people realize how hot it was on that field. I was talking to a couple
19:51of guys in the locker room yesterday and they were just, they, they said it's the hottest they've
19:56ever been on. Really? Like it was, they were told it was 106 degrees on that field. Yeah. It's crazy.
20:01Yeah. And it was not just like the players guys. Like I saw people I know that work for
20:06the jets who are on the sidelines in the locker room after the game and they like couldn't stand
20:10up. They were in chairs, like just pounding Gatorades, trying to revive themselves. And
20:15one person told me he almost passed out on the sideline. Like it was so bad. So that was
20:20like, that was a big thing. And so I, now you're, you're back here, it's going to be raining.
20:24It's going to be cooler. So, you know, I think the defense can, can get after them and not,
20:29not wear down as much. Um, and then yeah, Glenn's going to blitz. We saw it last week.
20:34And I remember AZ Thomas had a blitz at one point coming off the edge and he's good. He's
20:39going to do some creative things. He did that in Detroit. And I'm sure we're going to see
20:42that this week, especially, you know, it's copycat league and Flores. You're not going to
20:47be Brian Flores blitzing 80% of the time, but 50%. I guess you see that. I could see something
20:53like that from Glenn.
20:53Now here's the a hundred million dollar question. I think a lot of jets fans are probably asking
20:58themselves to look, Aaron Glenn has had success in his career as a Detroit lions defensive
21:03coordinator up against Jordan love. And he's actually had to turn the ball over. Dare I say
21:09some interceptions here cause he's thrown some, some he's had, he's had two interception game,
21:15two interception game and another one interception game, uh, out of five against our six against
21:20six of air. No five against air. I'm sorry. One, two, three, four, five, five games against
21:25Aaron Glenn's defense in Detroit. He has thrown three interceptions. Do the jets finally get
21:32their first interception of the season and, and get this monkey off their back. Cause
21:43no, this is the week. Cause it feels like the week. Doesn't it? Yeah. We were all excited
21:49for it. I kind of, I kind of want to see it get to 20. You only two more games.
21:59That's true.
22:00Uh, 20 will never get broken. It's actually, it's minus one Oh five for Jordan love to throw
22:06an interception according to draft Kings. So it's not even plus odds cause they're expecting
22:11according to the Vegas sports books that he's going to start an interception this week.
22:15Vegas knows, you know what? If Minka was playing, there's sort of been a perfect game for him
22:19because loves going to get a little happy feet. You know, he's going to want to get the ball out
22:24quick. All worried about the blitzes and pressures and Minka just comes right up and gets a
22:29pick. So we need someone to jump on a football. Can somebody jump on a ball and try at least
22:33how, well, have we even seen somebody like jump on a balls on a fumble? No, I'm saying jump on
22:39a
22:39pass. Here's the guy. It's we always do this. Oh, it's going to be Minka Fitzpatrick that gets it
22:44or back in the day. Oh, it's going to be leave us. Like it's like, remember how many interceptions
22:48like Ashton Davis? Yes. Yes. It's like Quantes Stiggers. Yeah. It's going to be Dane. Dane Bell is
22:55going to be the guy. Bell made a lot of plays in training camp. Uh, Bell is going to be
22:59the guy
22:59that gets the first interception. That's my, that's my prediction. All right. That's a good
23:02prediction. I actually think it's going to be someone who's terrible at intercepting the ball.
23:06Brandon Stevens will get the first one of the year and we'll all be like, and it'll be like a
23:10crazy
23:10one that we're like, Oh my God, Brandon Stevens. Why can't you do that more now? It's like,
23:14I don't know. That's my prediction. I do think the jets get their first interception of the
23:17season this year. You know, I think it's going to be, I had an epiphany about this this morning.
23:21You know what it's going to be guys. It's going to be DeMario Davis, the Capitan. He's going to just
23:27drop right back, sniff it out. Yup. They got to get that monkey off their back. Cause they really do
23:32just so
23:32they can say it's finally done and move on and, and, and get after it. Um, Hey, if they're winning
23:37games, no one's really talking about it. I know nobody cares. Nobody's talking about this week.
23:41Yeah. So again, you say you expect Glenn to, to blitz, but again, he has to be cognizant without
23:47thinking Fitzpatrick and he's playing with Belton and he's playing with Cisco as a safeties.
23:51And he's got, as you know, AZ Thomas and Brandon Stevens, like how careful is he going to be thinking
23:58about that too, where I don't want to put these guys in too much of an Island situation with these,
24:02these receivers are very fast for the Packers. I can't understate that enough.
24:06Yeah. I just think it's his style, right? I think he's a blitzer. You know, I think that these,
24:11you're either are or you aren't, you know, solid and like the blitz.
24:14Todd Bowles loved the blitz. Rex loved the blitz. And I think Glenn's in that, that school where I
24:19don't, I don't think he's going to be too worried. You know, they're out there. They got to do the
24:23job.
24:23I think that's going to be his philosophy. So I think he's going to, I think you'll see him blitzing
24:27a lot. Frankie on this offensive line, cause I mentioned the injuries. Where do you see the
24:31jets attacking this offensive line right now for the Packers? It's interesting, man. If I would start
24:37the game without necessarily having to over blitz, meaning like, I don't think you have to go crazy
24:43like Flores did last week. I think our D line is good enough where they can get home. If you're
24:48not
24:48getting home or you're not pressuring love, that's when you start sending the blitzes. I think
24:53that's a more conventional way of doing things. But I just, I believe in this D line. That's the
24:59one thing that I really love about this jets team. I just think this D line has so much they
25:03can do.
25:04There's, they were talking about why did Juwan Briggs only play in how many snaps did Briggs get?
25:09Somebody said he got like 10 or 11 snaps or something like, yeah, yeah. He didn't play that
25:13much. And it's like, why I'm like, cause they have to Vondra sweat. They have Harrison Phillips that
25:18script, by the way, didn't call for Yamada. Yeah. On Yamada. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. Yeah.
25:24They're very susceptible that green Bay offensive line specifically in the interior for giving up
25:31pressures. So I think when you look at Bailey and McDonald, they worked on a lot of stunts in
25:35the off season. When you see them at practices, they're always working on those stunts. You saw
25:41Bailey and McDonald get it, getting home to a few times there in preseason. If you remember,
25:47this is the game where I think those two can start doing some stunts and really getting pressure from
25:51the interior side, not only from the outside. Yeah. Uh, look, it's, I think it's probably one
25:57of the biggest factors we could talk about with this game is how do the jets get pressure on love?
26:01How do they force him to make mistakes, potentially even throw an interception on the flip side cause
26:06Gino Smith. Uh, I feel like we still should talk about him and, and what will you expect for him
26:10this
26:10week? He got the ball into Garrett Wilson's hands. We saw them use Omar Cooper on third down on the
26:16first drive. He's now down with an injury. Uh, but Garrett Wilson's still there. 80 Mitchell here.
26:20We saw Brees get incorporated into the passing offense a little bit too. How does Gino continue
26:25to stay efficient this week against the Packers? Yeah, I think he just keeps going the way he's
26:30going. Right. I don't think they're changing. You have to change much offensively from what they
26:33did last week. And like we talked about Gino had five incompletions. Two of them were drops.
26:39Mason Taylor dropped one and Smith dropped one. One was a throw away at the end of a half.
26:43One was that one where Garrett laid out at the sideline early in the game and didn't come up
26:47with it. And I think one, the last one, maybe he dirted it. None of them were bad passes is
26:52my
26:52point. They, so he was on the money and I know I saw some of the, I know the excites
26:57of like the
26:58most on target quarterbacks of the week and he was number one. So yeah, I think, you know, easy for
27:03us to say, just keep it up Gino. Like, I don't think it's complicated, right? I think he just has
27:08to
27:08keep going the way he's going. And, um, you know, I'm not sure how good this Packers defense
27:13is. They gave up a lot to the Vikings last week. So, you know, he, he, I think he can
27:18have some success here. Look, no one's Justin Jefferson in this league. I'd argue he's one
27:22of the best, if not the best wide receivers in the league, but Garrett Wilson's pretty
27:24dang good. And I Mitchell, I think showed some real flashes last week. The jets have weapons
27:29finally, especially at the tight end position that we talked about too. Frankie, they can get
27:32the ball in these playmakers hands and let them make some plays in the field.
27:35Yeah, man. You know, it's crazy just seeing a pretty competent quarterback, like just an
27:42average quarterback. It's like, it's like seeing, uh, the Mona Lisa or something. It's
27:46like, Holy smokes. Where did this come from? Like, wow. I mean, like, it's like, you would
27:52think Gino through for like 350 yards and three touchdowns. Like, no, it's just, we haven't
27:57seen really like efficient quarterback play. And that even goes back to Rogers. Like Rogers
28:02is the scripts were a little bit, there was no tempo. It was kind of little here, a little
28:07there. A lot of adjustments from him at the line of scrimmage. Yeah. It was, there was
28:10no flow to the game, you know? Yeah. The way, the words I would use to describe last week
28:14was like on schedule. There you go. Yes. It looked like it was just like on schedule the
28:19whole time. And it wasn't, he didn't have to run around and avoid three guys. Like, you
28:25know, you see Zach Wilson do, and then maybe he makes a crazy thing for completion. It wasn't
28:30that it was all right. This, this is a five, five, you know, step drop and boom, you're
28:35getting the ball here or a three-step drop ball here. Uh, it was just on schedule the
28:41whole day and they never really got off of it. And I thought that was impressive.
28:45Yeah. And I also think Kaz and Rye, I think there is something there between Gino Smith
28:50and Frank Reich. And Frank Reich's mentioned that I believe today that I spoke to Gino about
28:56the plays and Gino's like, you know, that there are no bad plays, like just call the
29:00place coach. And every play is a good play. Like, excuse me. There's a connection there
29:05between those two. They're vets, man. They've been around for a while. You know, say what
29:09you want about Gino. I've said a lot of things about Gino questioning certain things. The
29:13guy has been in this league for a long time, has seen so many different types of offenses.
29:18Frank Reich, same thing has been in this league forever. We're seeing some veteran,
29:23clean, well-oiled offensive things happening. And we'll see this week. We'll see how that
29:31goes. But I think there's a professionalism, I think, to this offense right now that that's
29:36nice to see. Uh, Kaz, last week, the Jets were two of 12 on third down. And we know that
29:43that's not really a formula to win many football games in the NFL. How does this Jets offense
29:48get better on third down here? Yeah, that's a good question, Ryan. Um, you know, I, I think
29:56number one, don't make penalties that turn third and one to 36, right? That seemed to be an issue
30:02last week. Um, and yeah, I'm sure that's what they're working on this week is just kind of
30:06cleaning that up and being more efficient on third down. It didn't really matter toward the
30:10outcome of last week, but I think if you're looking at it, this game should have been 40 to
30:16three. Yeah. Right. And the Jets left a lot of points out in the field. Um, and you know,
30:23that I'm sure that's what they're talking about this week is how, how do we clean that part up?
30:27Cause as efficient as they were, they did commit a lot of pretty snap penalties. Um, you know,
30:33and they had some bad game management situations, the end of the half, uh, after they recovered
30:38the fumbled kickoff, they didn't really do much with that possession. So, you know, it's cleaning
30:43that stuff up. I think we'll, we'll, we'll make them better in all categories, including third
30:47down. No doubt. Uh, it's definitely going to be a key here for this Jets team. Uh, let's go to
30:52keys, the keys, the victory guys. Uh, I'll start with you, Frankie. What is your key to the Jets
30:57actually winning this Sunday? Um, I would, I know that the Jets are doing this whole white out thing.
31:04I would, uh, I would do the opposite. I'd, I'd wear black t-shirts instead. I think with the rain,
31:08I don't know if a white out's a good idea. So now I'm just kidding. Oh, I'm just kidding.
31:16It's going to be fun. God, it's going to be raining. Everyone's going to be wearing white
31:19t-shirts. I mean, uh, it could be a good time. Watch yourself, Frankie.
31:27I wasn't saying anything. I'm saying for me, who wants to see me in a white? I'm just kidding.
31:33No way. You're right about that. You ain't lying. Um, all right. My key to victory. You know what?
31:40I'm going to go to something. Open field tackling. Why? I think Green Bay, I'm convinced, is going
31:47to get the ball out fast. Is our secondary going to be able to bring down Christian Watson, limit
31:52his yak? Are they going to be able to limit Matthew Golden's yak? Remember, Matthew Golden ran in the
31:55four threes. Explosive in the open field. Same thing with Tucker Craft. And even the running backs,
32:01Marshawn Lloyd, and some of those guys back there, they're going to want to get yak. Jets
32:05looked awesome tackling game one. And we know what the tackling woos have been with Aaron
32:10Glenn here. Open field tackling. It to me is a key. I think if we can bring them down
32:15and not allow them to get another 20, 30 yards and keep drives going, I think we have a shot
32:20to win the game. Kaz, what's your keys to victory for the Jets? If they can pull this
32:24off. The same thing as last week, guys winning in the trenches, right? That, that was the one
32:30when you walked away from that game last week, you're like, wow, the Jets just dominated
32:34up front on both sides of the ball. Yeah. Can they do that again? And that's, I'm not,
32:38I'm not being revolutionary here. That's football, right? If you can do that, you're going to
32:42win a lot of football games. But to me, I think the theme of this week is what we kind
32:47of started
32:47with is can the Jets prove it this week that last week wasn't just a good performance against
32:52a bad opponent? Can they show that they're actually a good team? And that's going to start
32:57up front with on both sides of the ball. No doubt. I think for me, it's, it's this Jets
33:02rushing attack again, which ties into what you're saying, Kaz, with the trenches up front. I think
33:06the Jets have to be able to run the ball, both Brees and Braylon have to dominate again. And like
33:11Kaz said, I think that was so key on Monday when you highlighted it. If this Frank Reich offense can
33:17just, Hey, if, if Brees is on a, on a heater right now, just keep feeding him. If Braylon is
33:22a heater,
33:23keep feeding him, keep running the ball. We saw what the Giants did on Sunday night against the
33:27Cowboys kept running the same play with Cam Scadaboo do the same thing with Brees and Braylon,
33:32which I know they have in this offense. Like keep feeding those mouths and don't change the
33:36personnel, uh, unless it's like an injury or anything, but like, let them continue to cook
33:40on that offense on a drive when they have the opportunities. I think that's going to be the
33:44key to this game for the Jets. If they could pull this one out. Um, that's a good one by
33:48the way.
33:49And that's a Frank Reich kind of, kind of mentality thing. Like you want to, you want
33:53to stop them? Go right ahead. We're not going to let you stop them. We're going to keep feeding
33:57them. Think about what Jonathan Taylor did when you just call him, please. Right. That's so
34:00true. Yeah. Yeah. Give him the ball 35 times. Cause trivia for you. I always have the last one.
34:08He did. Uh, what, what was the last one? I didn't get last week was who has, who, uh,
34:13who holds the record for the most sacks in a single game versus the Titans all time.
34:19Don't ask me that. It's our old pal. Will McDonald three sacks in 2022. That's a good
34:24one. That's a good one. That's a hard one actually. Cause what jet player has the most
34:29rushing yards in a single game versus the green Bay Packers all time. Oh God. Against the green
34:34Bay Packers. Uh, I feel like Curtis Martin had a huge game in like a week one against the
34:42Packers. So I'm going Curtis. That's incorrect. Frankie, do you have a guess? I'm going to guess
34:47Freeman McNeil. That's incorrect as well. It is Brees hall. Wow. 2022 again, 116 rushing yards in a
34:56single game. That is not that much. Uh, but that was the most rushing yards by a jet player in
35:00a
35:00single game, uh, against the green Bay Packers. I think Brees could potentially break that record
35:05again on Sunday. That's a good, they're going to run the ball. I'm telling you the jets are going to
35:08run
35:08the ball. All right, fellas, let's do some over unders and then we're going to do our game
35:13predictions. Uh, Frankie is incomplete for last week since he was dealing with Italian lawyers.
35:19Uh, but we do have some over under here lines that I'd love to hear you guys thoughts on these.
35:24Um,
35:24let me pull these up. So I'm going to start off with, wait, what did cause, what did cause go
35:28last
35:29week? Cause last week went two and two and I went three and one. All right, that's good. All right.
35:33So cause let's start with Brees hall. The guy I just mentioned on draft Kings,
35:37his over under right now is 69 and a half rushing yards. Ooh, over. I'll go over. I agree with
35:44you
35:44there. So I'm going to go over as well. I think I'm in on these, uh, over unders now just
35:48because
35:48I do it, do it last week, Frankie. I'm going to go under. I said, I think Braylon Allen is
35:54the
35:54guy this week, guys. I think we see a lot of Braylon Allen. I think, I think it's going to
35:58be a
35:58Braylon Allen kind of game. Let's talk about Garrett Wilson. I, they got him at 60, six, zero and a
36:04half receiving yards. Cause over cause has them is over. I'm also going to take the over there on
36:13Mr. Garrett Wilson, Frankie. So am I. Okay. So we're all on the over there. Cause let's talk
36:18about Gino Smith. Uh, you nailed this one last week. Uh, right now his, his over under for pass
36:23yards is 209 and a half passing yards. I'm going to go under on that. I just think rainy day.
36:33I don't
36:33think he's going to have a bad game, but I think it's going to be like one 90 ish. And
36:38I can see
36:38like one eight, one 70 to one 90 in there. I think I'm going to go with the over just
36:42because I think
36:43that they could have an opportunity to break a couple of big, big plays downfield. I could see
36:48Kenyan Sadiq getting a nice yak catch that can maybe put Gino's over on passing yards. So I'll take
36:53the over there. I'm going to agree with cause actually. I think, I think the game will be a little
36:57bit. I, I think there's going to be a little bit of, you know, jitters going on all throughout,
37:03I think early, especially if you know, home game like that. So I think, yeah, last week,
37:06cause I asked you about Mason Taylor this week. I'm going to ask you about the rookie that scored
37:10a touchdown last week in Kenyan Sadiq right now. He's a 21 and a half receiving yards.
37:19Under. Okay. I'm going to also take the under on Kenyan Sadiq.
37:24This is weird. Cause I took the over on Garrett, but then I took the under on Gino and I'm
37:29going
37:29to take the over on Sadiq. All right. I'm going to, I'm going to hedge my bets a little bit
37:33guys. That's how it works. Just to go 500. Make it happen. Yeah. All right. Let's do our
37:40predictions here. Week two jets versus Packers. The jets are three and a half point dogs at home.
37:47It's the whiteout. Glenn has talked about how he's excited to see this, this home crowd,
37:53the fans traveled down to Tennessee. They were nuts. Um, and I think it's going to be nuts again
37:57on Sunday. Fellas last week cause predicted the Titans to win 24 20. I like what cause did have
38:05an Epic tweet though. It's super respectable. He goes, you know what? I made a mistake. Never do it
38:11again. That was a good tweet. That was a good tweet. The fans on the plane. I had 20 guys.
38:18I want to give a
38:19shout out to one fan that I met at the airport. We have a guy named Israel who lives in
38:24Idaho,
38:24who, who watches gangs all here every week. Let's go. Israel is a great fan. I could tell
38:30from, we had a little five minute conversation at the gate. Uh, he was flying to Seattle, which was
38:35the next gate from us. And, uh, I thought it was interesting. He, I said, how'd you become a jets
38:40fan in Idaho? Right. So he said he was a Boise state fan growing up and they had a player
38:47that
38:47became his favorite player. And he said, wherever this player gets drafted, that's who I'm, that's
38:52who I'm going to root for in the NFL. And Kyle Wilson was the first round pick in 2000.
38:59And it worked out for him that first season. He was like, Hey, I got a good team. It hasn't
39:03been
39:03so good since they're going to go. I love those kinds of fan stories. When I get them old friend,
39:08Kyle Wilson, I thought he was going to go like Israel of Anaconda or something with that one.
39:13Israel from Idaho. Hey buddy, we appreciate you always watching. Uh, I had 24, 10. I was off by one
39:22point. That's good. I was off by one point last week. I texted cause I'm like, I'm going to lose
39:26this
39:27by one point. Um, which is crazy, but, uh, all right. So cause his own one, I'm one to know
39:32Frankie's incomplete. Let's, let's make some actual predictions. I'll start with you, Mr.
39:36Incomplete. Give us your prediction for week two. All right, guys and gals and pals and everyone. Um,
39:46listen, there's a lot of good feels around the jets right now. Uh, I see where this is going,
39:52Ryan. Yeah. I mean, listen, people are making videos and, and people,
39:57are hugging. I saw some videos of people crying like they won the super bowl. I get it. We have,
40:02we haven't seen a victory that decisive in, in years. I think the last victory we had 13 plus
40:09was Salah against the Patriots week four or something in two, two, three years ago. Um,
40:16so with that said, I gotta pick green Bay and I'm going to pick the Packers for one reason.
40:22I just think their backs are against the wall. They're on a six game losing streak. They had
40:27an embarrassing week one loss to again. There's third stringer at a point became their backup in
40:33Carson Wentz, but, uh, was there a third stringer? I just think you're playing a team that needs to
40:41win this game for the head coach for, for the team. They, they have a ton of talent all over
40:47the place.
40:47And like Kaz was saying earlier in the show, they're a perennial that, that staff and that team,
40:52they're perennial playoff, uh, performers. So I just think when you play a team like that,
40:57with a quarterback, like Jordan love with his, with their backs against the wall,
41:00I just think they're gonna inch it out. Like they're going to, I think the jets will cover.
41:05My score prediction is, uh, jets, excuse me, Packers 20 jets, 17. Uh, what's interesting is
41:13that Matt LaFleur is seven and O against the spread in week two of the NFL season. Oh, he is
41:18as head
41:19coach. So he'll be seven and one, but that is, that is a weird stuff. Uh, that's a weird stuff
41:24from
41:24there. I will toss to you cause. Yeah, I'm similar to Frankie. You know, I, I, I'm a big one
41:32in, uh,
41:32if you have a zero, like bet against the zero, like most teams are going to go. Oh, and whatever,
41:38even though it's just week two, I just don't see the Packers going. Oh, it too. I don't see the
41:41jets going two and O like, it's just in my mind. It's hard to compute that. I think it's going
41:46to
41:46be a shootout. I think it's, I think there's gonna be a high scoring game. Really? In the rain? Yeah.
41:52In the rain. Yeah. I think, I think there's gonna be a lot of running, you know, I think the
41:55jets are
41:56going to run for a lot of yards in this game. Um, and you know, I, I am going to
42:02go a barely
42:03cover for the Packers. I'll go Packers 31 jets, 27. Okay. Are you guys going to be at the game?
42:11No, I'm not going. Yeah. No. Are you? Yes. I'm going to wear my white at home, smiling,
42:19ready to rock and roll, screaming at my TV. Uh, my dogs probably will be scared of me while I'm
42:24screaming at the TV, like a mad man. They'll be like, you never screamed at the TV like this
42:27last year when you went through this. But, uh, the jets have given me a hope a little bit cause.
42:30So yeah, we're not going to be there though. No. Cause are you wearing white in the press box?
42:35No, I will not. Uh, that guy shouldn't, that guy shouldn't wear white.
42:38Yeah. So I'm with you. That's why we're black. What was your prediction?
42:432017 Packers, 20 to 17 Packers, 31 to 27.
42:48The Jets cover. Yeah. Packers win Jets cover. He did.
42:51Yep.
42:54I can't. All right. Right. Come on. We know, we know what he's going to do.
42:57I know because you guys took my win. Like I, I wanted to pick the Packers today,
43:02but the fact that both of you are picking the Packers, I can't agree with you guys.
43:06Ooh. And I like that. I gotta say this. That was alarming. How bad that loss looked for the
43:12Packers last week. I actually, the other stat that I believe in, and I think it's 0 for 6 or
43:180 for 5,
43:19maybe now in Micah Parsons doesn't play for the Packers. The Packers have not won. Yeah.
43:24They've lost six straight with, I think that's including the game. He got injured. Correct. Yeah.
43:28So they've lost six straight, right. Without Micah Parsons in the game.
43:33I think that continues this weekend. They are going to struggle to get pass rush. The Van Ness
43:37and Hargrave injuries are actually big. I don't think they're probably going to play this weekend.
43:42It's going to be in a lot of rain and slop. The Jets have bullies up front. I think they'll
43:46be able
43:47to run the ball all day. I think Brees can have another monster game like he did in 2022. Do
43:51you
43:51guys remember that game in 2022? There were some runs that he was breaking off and we're going like,
43:55whoa, this is the Brees Hall. Like, wow. Yeah. And I think we could see a repeat of that today
44:00on Sunday. The uniform is going to look great. The crowd's going to be nuts. I think it's going
44:05to be extremely loud. And I can see this Jets pass rush actually getting after Jordan Love and making
44:10him uncomfortable. I have the Jets winning this one 21 to 17 over the Packers. That's a Jets win.
44:19And I think they actually pull off the upset, start off 2-0 in the season. And then this city
44:25is
44:25going to be nuts when the Jets are 2-0 and Jets fans are going to be like, whoa, Aaron
44:29Glenn.
44:31Extension?
44:32I mean, no. Maybe I was wrong about you, Aaron Glenn. How about that first? Admitting that.
44:39Listen.
44:40You will admit you're wrong.
44:41No.
44:41If they win.
44:42For going 2-0?
44:43Beating the Packers playoff team at home?
44:45Listen. I'll admit that I did not expect them to go 2-0. And Aaron Glenn's doing a fantastic
44:51job. And I'll give him some more kudos. But I'm not going to say that he's the answer.
44:57I'm not saying he's the answer. But you might have been wrong about him as being a horrible
44:59head coach.
45:00About him being a horrible head coach? Yes. I may have been wrong if they go 2-0. Depending
45:05upon how they look. Yeah. Maybe I should have given them some more credit. I'll be a man about
45:10it. I'm not going to shy away from that.
45:13I don't think he can do anything.
45:15No, I'm just saying.
45:16Kaz, we appreciate you hopping on here, obviously, giving us your analysis. And we're looking
45:22forward to your coverage throughout the weekend. And we'll catch up with you next week after
45:26this Packers game, man.
