00:01Now it's a sit down with Xochitl Gomez. Hi Xochitl.
00:04Let's talk about your new movie, The Cat in the Hat.
00:07For starters, did you grow up with this book?
00:10Yeah, well, actually, my grandma was a teacher,
00:12so she always, whenever I would come over,
00:14she would, like, have all the books.
00:16It's like her, like, she took her books very seriously
00:18in the sense that she would buy them and then hold on to them
00:20so that she could read them to me, which was very sweet.
00:23So I got read them all the time.
00:25But I think my first, like, real core memory
00:27with Dr. Seuss is mainly Seussical
00:31because I was a theater kid growing up.
00:33And so I did Seussical and I played Amazing Maisie.
00:37Well, Maisie is her name, but I sang the song Amazing Maisie.
00:40So I was, like, 10 and I was singing this crazy flamboyant song.
00:44But it created a core memory.
00:47What are the upsides and downsides to voice acting?
00:50Well, this was my first ever, like, voiceover role.
00:55And so, for me, I was just very intimidated by the huge stacked cast
01:00that we have on this movie and how, like, knowledgeable they are.
01:04And so, as a first-timer, I was just like, okay, I gotta be super-duper prepared.
01:09And then they told me that I was gonna do a few sessions with Bill.
01:12And I was like, oh my gosh.
01:14I looked at his IMDb because I was like, I think he's, like, pretty much voiced,
01:17like, everything I've ever watched as a kid.
01:19And, yep, that is totally true.
01:20So I went in, like, even more terrified than ever.
01:24And I was like, okay, he's gonna be super-professional and super-cool
01:27and super-good at his job.
01:29And it was actually so, like, relieving when he was just, like,
01:32making fun of himself, forgetting his lines.
01:34I was like, okay, now we know who the true professional is.
01:38We're good.
01:40Avengers Doomsday.
01:41Say more, please.
01:43We know you possibly low-key teased this.
01:45What can fans expect?
01:47I actually, I don't know.
01:48I'm gonna be honest.
01:49I don't know.
01:50They own the rights to my image.
01:51So, you know what?
01:53I'm excited, too.
01:54We'll see.
01:55What superhero power would you want in real life?
01:57I think that freezing time is nice.
02:01To be able to just be, like, if things are too complicated or if a moment is so awesome,
02:05just to hold it for a second and just, like, simmer in it would be nice.
02:09Are you keeping up with this season of Dancing with the Stars?
02:12Who's your fave and who's your pick to win?
02:14I don't necessarily have a pick.
02:15I just, I more have, like, a duo.
02:17I feel like Ezra and Amber are really good.
02:19They're so, they're so good in their story and their journey is amazing.
02:23And I really want Pasha to finally get that mirror roll.
02:26Jenna is like, are you joking?
02:29I'm so happy I wasn't on this season.
02:32I think I would just be, I'd be like, season week two, I'm out.
02:36It was nice to meet you all.
02:38Okay, we're gonna put ten seconds on the clock.
02:40Tell everyone why they should check out The Cat in the Hat in theaters everywhere on November 6th.
02:45The Cat in the Hat is an amazing story and it can just show you how change can be scary,
02:50but at the end of the day, it's the journey along the way.
02:53Maybe you'll even meet a cat in the hat.
02:58So Chi, thank you so much for being here today.
03:00Lovely to chat with you.
