00:00One of the things that kind of my direct message to Todd Munkin through these airwaves was
00:06Deshaun is not always forthcoming with how he thinks and how he feels.
00:10We saw for three years him tell Kevin Stefanski, I love this offense.
00:14I'm totally comfortable in this offense, as he was, checks notes, not comfortable in the West Coast offense.
00:20And now Todd might not know that because Todd was coaching in Baltimore.
00:24But it was plain as day that if you watch this, Deshaun didn't fit that offense.
00:30Kevin was too stubborn to realize that too early, and Deshaun clearly was telling him what he wanted to hear.
00:37So when Deshaun said after the Buffalo postgame debacle, when he was like,
00:42no, I got it off my chest and I'm clearly okay, that was your fool me once moment.
00:48And what Wednesday proved is, all right, Deshaun has problems being the Browns quarterback.
00:54Deshaun does not want to be the face of these fans.
00:56And I understand it.
00:57I think he is playing the victim card.
01:00I think he lacks self-awareness.
01:01And quite frankly, that enrages me just a hell of a lot more than anything else this guy's done
01:06in Cleveland the last five years.
01:09All right, well, how different would this be then if Deshaun was, let's say, good at the podium
01:13or a normal human being at the podium?
01:16Like, how much of this outrage has stemmed from not only what happened after the second preseason game,
01:21but that also happened earlier this week?
01:23Oh, at least half, if not more than half.
01:26Like, I think he would, honestly, with the way week one went, the defense was bad enough.
01:33The play around Deshaun was, okay, Deshaun got sacked a bunch of times,
01:37even though I think real people realized that was Deshaun getting himself sacked by dropping.
01:41I think to East Euclid, they were in Jacksonville, well, that'd be a long march.
01:47Long, long, long, yeah.
01:48But, you know, okay.
01:49Taking 18 steps when you've already done a shotgun is least tough.
01:52Dropping to Tampa Bay to go ahead and try and throw a football.
01:55But, like, I think how bad things were around Deshaun would have glossed over the fact
02:01that Deshaun wasn't very good himself.
02:03If he had just shot up after the Buffalo game and if he had just shot up on Wednesday.
02:06There's just ways to do this.
02:08Yeah, there's ways to be a quarterback one.
02:10And you look anywhere across the league, you can see how you're supposed to handle it,
02:13how you're not supposed to handle it.
02:14And, like, there's obviously when things are going well, it's much easier to pull that off.
02:18Like, I heard Josh Allen last night before the game.
02:20And, my goodness, you want to talk about a guy that just understands and gets it.
02:23All he does is say the right things.
02:25And all he does is put on the right face.
02:28But, like, Deshaun is just not helping himself.
02:30But I do wonder.
02:31I do wonder how many fans would just be – let's not say take it easy on Deshaun
02:35because he's just killed just so much from a football standpoint.
02:38But if he didn't shoot himself so much in the foot with these press conferences,
02:42how much chiller would the fan base be when he starts week three?
02:46That's why this game, to me, means more to Munkin than it does to Watson.
02:50Because I don't know what Watson can tangibly lose other than a starting job.
02:55And he might welcome that at this point.
02:58Welcome avoiding the scene of week three in Cleveland.
03:02With Todd Munkin, I honestly don't think Todd Munkin realizes what he's doing.
03:07With his insistence on putting Deshaun out there.
03:11In this game, if Deshaun Watson looks like a lost puppy in the first half
03:16and you throw him out there for the second half and you get completely blown out
03:19two straight games, you are putting yourself on a path to be one and done.
03:24And I've chafed at that.
03:26I have scoffed at that.
03:28If you cannot be competitive the first two weeks of the season and the quarterback
03:33that you continue to say you see something in, despite the fact that media that watched
03:38the actual practices have said was not the best quarterback, including myself.
03:43Deshaun Watson was not the best quarterback 98% of the time that I watched practice.
03:48I'm not like throwing myself out.
03:50Everybody thought that.
03:52So you're forcing a quarterback that wasn't the better quarterback because you see something
03:56in him or you think you can get something out of him.
03:58He is absolutely loathed in this town.
04:00And you're going to not even at least have the common courtesy to be good?
04:05Like Todd Munkin might be getting himself fired, not literally, but this year,
04:10based off how he's handling this.
04:12So if there's a moment, if you are unproductive, if you are unplayable in the first half of this season,
04:19or the first half of this game, and you continue to choose Deshaun Watson,
04:23and then on Monday you come out and you choose Deshaun Watson again, people will forget with success.
04:29But you're making it really hard to forget how bad this is, especially if at some point you turn to
04:36Shador
04:36and he looks like, I don't know, a salient NFL quarterback.
04:40You say people forget, but it would take a long time for someone like myself to forget the idea
04:44that he chose Deshaun Watson, and in a spot where he didn't have to,
04:48and in a spot where he could have made life easier on himself, he was steadfast in this.
04:52And so, okay, you've got to live with that consequence.
04:54Like, even if he gets Shador corrected and everything's on the right path,
04:58we'll applaud him there, but I'll always question his decision-making.
05:00If this was the route that he wanted to go, in the back of my mind,
05:04I will always wonder, what exactly is he thinking?
05:07Well, and remember, if the reporting on this is accurate, which that this is Todd Munkin
05:13talking the rest of that organization into playing Deshaun Watson,
05:17you think the Browns organization is loving this?
05:21Now, I'm going to say, anybody over there could have stopped this.
05:26Anyone over there could have said, Todd, we love you, we think we can win with you.
05:30Yeah, I mean, they've stepped in way too much for me to think that they're just innocent bystanders.
05:32Well, no, no, no, they're not innocent.
05:34But I'm just talking about from the career side of things.
05:38Like, you're walking the Browns organization, who, by the way, is trying to tell everybody
05:43about this great big old deal down in Brook Park that they're going to have
05:46that is going to fix all of our problems, right?
05:49And you're making everybody's job over there ten times tougher
05:52by pissing everybody off by playing Deshaun Watson.
05:55So it is, like, if Deshaun Watson has a good game, that's good for Deshaun, right?
06:01It's best for Todd Munkin.
06:03He needs this.
06:04He needs this because he's losing equity in a way.
06:06I can't recall the last, Freddie Kitchens, maybe, the last head coach that lost equity
06:11like this?
06:12I mean, it has to be.
06:13And we're putting him with Freddie Kitchens here, obviously, but there's other names in
06:17the football world, like Jim Tomsula, those type of guys, where once it's, I mean, once
06:21it's gone, it's gone.
06:22And so...
06:23And Todd is smarter than those guys.
06:24He is more equipped to be an NFL head coach than those guys.
06:27It's on you like a tattoo, though, when you have these type of decision-making and this
06:31type of process to it.
06:32Because you say he's smarter, and I believe you're right.
06:35I think he carries himself much better.
06:37I think he seems like a professional at the podium.
06:39I think there's a belief there that should exist, that he at least knows what he's doing.
06:46But on the field, week one, he passed none of those tests.

07:13You think of Dorsey, as the fans wanted Josh Allen, we'd just gone through the six-foot

07:19We didn't want another six-footer, as good as Baker is, as he said, right on the money.
07:24But all of a sudden, how this has turned around.
07:27All of a sudden, the fans didn't want Deshaun Watson.

07:36And it's like, oh, my God.
07:37It's just so weird.
07:38You picked the big player because you changed him from Baker.
07:43He wasn't getting – he wasn't what you're happy with.
07:47So you've got big, strong guy into Deshaun Watson.
07:49Bigger, stronger, and guess what?

07:57There's a couple bits there.
07:58And I – we overuse revisionist history here.
08:02It was not unanimous that Cleveland wanted Josh Allen.
08:05There was a healthy dose of people who wanted Sam Darnold.
08:08Everyone thought it was going to be Sam Darnold.
08:10I'll tell you that right now.
08:11And Ken didn't help that because Ken – he's admitted he was a patsy in this.
08:15But, like, everyone thought it was going to be Darnold.
08:18And then, I mean, I'll never forget being at that – being in the Muni lot.
08:22And the Browns had this big watch party and this big celebration.
08:24And I was in charge of filming it.
08:26And it said Baker Mayfield.
08:28And it was just kind of like the shrug emoji.
08:32Like, it was not met with great applause or great excitement or great anything.
08:36It was just kind of like, ah, I think they chose him.
08:40Also, Deshaun isn't really any bigger than Baker Mayfield.
08:42He might be an inch or two taller, but he's actually –
08:45Baker's got some chonk to him, Deshaun Watson.
08:48One of the biggest concerns about him coming out of college –
08:52and believe it or not, there were no off-the-field concerns that were reported.
08:56One of the biggest concerns was his slight frame
08:58and whether he'd be able to hold up to the consistent pounding of the NFL.

09:03He's a legitimate 6'1".
