00:13it does also at the same time feel like we all know how this movie
00:18inevitably ends, and it's that you just are not going to –
00:22like, Munkin right now has in his back pocket, like, the company lines,
00:27you know, that there was good stuff on tape
00:29and that you've got to trust him.
00:31You could read all of your company lines,
00:33but eventually you run out of bullet points of company lines,
00:37and then you've got to do something and make a change.
00:39Yeah, I mean, it seems impossible to think that Deshaun will get all 17 games.
00:43It's like, Shador's going to get an opportunity.
00:45Now, we debate about what week that is, and we've done a lot of that,
00:48but, like, if you tell me in the back of Shador's mind –
00:51and he's not going to think this way because he's going to take the high road
00:54because he's a good human like that.
00:55But, like, between us friends here, Nick, between me and you,
00:58we don't have to take the high road.

01:02where he knows in the back of his mind that Deshaun stunk up the joint
01:07and that he's got to be extra ready because that opportunity could come

01:15than what happened if you're Shador Sanders.

03:21because the Browns at some point in this season are going to buy themselves a bunch of goodwill
03:26with this fan base that they probably don't deserve when they finally make that decision.

03:32It's probably going to be after that Steeler game, if I had to guess.
03:35After Thursday night football, when you get that mini-buy,
03:37there's maybe your first real window where you can make a quarterback change outside of injury.
03:44But, like, for Shador, that could be – that's pretty soon.
03:48Like, that's four weeks from now.
03:49Three weeks from now.
03:50Yeah, but I guess here – okay, so here's the only concern I would have.
03:53And the only problem with this – and, again, I think we've laid out a lot of reasons
03:56for why week one was the best-case scenario for Shador.
03:58The only thing, and the only thing I don't have a defense against as of right now
04:02is the people that then turn around – and I even – I heard this this morning.
04:05Coward was talking about that idea that how bad is Shador if Deshaun won this job?
04:13But I think the one –
04:14You and I know the difference in this.
04:15I think we know the difference in this.
04:16The pushback that you could give to those people is that – well, that hasn't mattered anyway
04:21because it was a weighted competition from Jump Street because one guy's salary says $46 million
04:26and the other guy's salary says I was a fifth-round pick last.
04:29But me and you know that, and we've discussed this, and we've talked about this ad nauseum,
04:32but the national media hasn't.
04:34And the people that – if you're trying to get into these flyover discussions,
04:38they're not thinking about it that way.
04:40The perception is, as of right now, how bad was Shador if he couldn't beat out Deshaun Watson,
04:45even if you and I know the finger was on the scale, even if you and I know that this
04:50was a rigged competition
04:51and this wasn't obviously on the up and up 100%, and if it was a tie, then fine, call it
04:56a tie.
04:56But the tie then went to the veteran, and there's nothing Shador could have done.
05:00They're not going to look at it that way.
05:01And the easy response back would be something to the effect of Shador should have made it unquestionable
05:06that he was the best quarterback to the point where Todd Munkin and everybody else had to realize it,
05:10and that is where Shador did fall short.
05:13He did.
05:13I mean, there's no other way to put it.
05:14You know, I defend Shador.
05:15I like Shador.
05:16There's no way to defend that take.
05:19It's not, but at the same time, like, I do really want –
05:22like, if Shador goes out there and looks as bad as Deshaun does,
05:29okay, you've got two more quarterbacks to go.
05:32Wouldn't you rather bet on the chance that there's an upside,
05:35that it could possibly look better than what Deshaun Watson has,
05:39because that's a very low bar to clear.
05:41That's like the absolute lowest bar to clear is playing better quarterback than Deshaun Watson.
05:46So wouldn't you try to just figure that out if you could be on the right side of that coin?
05:50Because if it's just as bad or if it's somehow worse than Deshaun Watson,
05:55you've got two more QBs you could go to before the end of the season.
05:57No question, and they obviously should and they obviously will at some point go to Shador Sanders.
06:02I think we're all very committed to that.
06:03It's just we're trying to figure out how this week could have gone any better for Shador.
06:07I would argue the one blowback we have in this discussion is what I laid at your feet there.
06:12Like, that idea that for enough people out there, the rhetoric will be,
06:15well, this is the second coaching staff that he wasn't able to convince.
06:17And this is now – if Deshaun is this bad and this awful,
06:20when every reporter is coming out of the woodwork to tell us
06:23that they've been telling us this for 40 days and 40 nights
06:26when, you know, a lot of those same reporters were – I don't know.
06:29Some were vocal, but some weren't.
06:31Like, okay, fine, but that doesn't look great for Shador.
06:34It just doesn't.
06:35No.
06:36It doesn't have to matter.
06:37It doesn't have to stay with them.
06:38Just go out there and win games and do your best
06:40and obviously show people that you were the right call from Jump Street
06:43and we'll change this narrative coming up in a few weeks.
06:45But I got no great defense against that.
06:46I just hate – like, my only defense against it is
06:49I hate how the preseason was structured, dude.
06:51Like, because they gave Watson the start, you know,
06:54preseason game number one with the starters.
06:57Then Shador got his opportunity in week number two
07:00and there was no starters because Deshaun got a bunch of the work
07:03with the starters and the joint practices against Buffalo.
07:06And then week three, we all knew what it was.
07:08It was Dylan Gabriel and Taylor Green show.
07:10So, like, I want to be there with you and say that the one thing
07:14that I could poke a hole through with Shador is that, like,
07:16he didn't beat out Deshaun.
07:17It wasn't night and day difference than Deshaun.
07:20Like, if he couldn't even beat out that.
07:21It's like, I don't know that we ever got the chance
07:23to fully see it in its entirety, though.
07:27We had a lot of QB trackers and a lot of people that –
07:30Yeah, the camp was every day.
07:32All the camp stuff, exactly.
07:33And listen, I was there.
07:34I mean, you were there.
07:35But Nick and I would go to these camps
07:36and we'd tell you every single day how Deshaun looked unplayable
07:39and this and that.
07:40And then people would – they'd get mad at us.
07:42Oh, you guys are just hating on Deshaun.
07:44And, you know, all those flavors and you guys choose to be salty.

10:03to get five years and $50 million.
10:04I won't hold that against him.
10:06But if the end result is week three, we get Shador
10:08and Munkin turns Shador into, I don't know,
10:11a top 10 quarterback in the sport,
10:12I'll just be thrilled he was able to do it.
10:14I just don't think we're going to get to see it that soon.
10:16And I think, like, you know, you see this happen all the time.

10:21you had a couple of Tyrod Taylor games
10:23where they were telling you Tyrod gave the Browns
10:25the best chance to win.
10:26And then you saw Baker come in,
10:27and the offense just looked different
10:29from that very first throw.
10:31Like, there was just a new energy about the offense.
10:33So you see this happen from time and again
10:35with veteran quarterbacks,
10:37especially when they're in front of inexperienced guys
10:41on the depth chart.
10:42I just hope they make this decision
10:44before the season's actually sunk.
10:46Well, that's the way that they lose a lot of people,
10:48is hanging on to this, being stubborn with it,
10:50and then waiting way too long.
10:52And then, so then if Shador, let's say,
10:53gets eight or nine games,
10:54and let's say he does, and listen,
10:56the expectation is not that he's going to be
10:57a top-10 quarterback,
10:58but let's just say if he does,
11:01well, then you have a real question.
11:02And part of this year was trying to figure out
11:04the answers to all these questions.
11:06And if you get to a spot where it's eight,
11:07nine games, and he looks really good,
11:09but you're unsure about how good that is
11:11and how long-lasting that is,
11:13it's one of the worst cases you can find yourself in.
11:15It's like, do I draft a quarterback?
11:16Do I not?
11:17Did he show enough promise?
11:18And that in-between is where organizations
11:20constantly fail.
