00:00Zach Jackson was on with the modern boys earlier today and uh he had he had a trio of damning
00:08Deshaun Watson takes is there one you want to go with first because I do think we could ask we
00:15could
00:15ask three different people which one of these is the most damning and I think they might they might
00:21all have a different answer Jackson 03 is what I'd like to start with all right so this is
00:25Zach Jackson uh on uh Deshaun Watson and how he can challenge or not challenge NFL defenses
00:33we did kind of catch wind towards the end of the available practices for media that the RPO stuff
00:40was a little more of an emphasis you weren't going to really do that with Shador which is comical
00:44because he's not even fast anymore he doesn't have one skill that challenges NFL defenses but yeah
00:49you're right there that's probably what they're going to do and really Todd hinted throughout the
00:53whole spring that experience and mobility had given Watson the edge he he outright said that
00:58a couple of times he danced around it a few other times so we probably aren't going to see that
01:03but
01:03that to me is just comical all right if I was making a case that Deshaun Watson still has something
01:10left
01:10in the tank to to surprise people to you know get a surprise win over Jacksonville or play better than
01:18people think the only case he might have is mobility but the problem is I've watched Deshaun
01:25look a touch slow each of the last three years so I tend to agree with Zach but like yeah
01:30it does seem
01:31like the Browns are banking on the mobility part which makes me wonder what are they seeing that I'm
01:36not seeing and that I haven't seen for four years and that's the big question right why do they think
01:40mobility is going to be the answer for a guy that has only had surgeries and only had problems with
01:45his
01:45knees and his legs and trying to operate and so like it's kind of embarrassing that that like that's
01:50the response and the answer it's like he won because of experience mobility and the mobility factor of
01:55it really isn't even a strength at this point so that is one damning claim the next one was uh
02:01when
02:01Zach talked about the ceiling of the Browns offense with Deshaun at quarterback let's see how it goes I
02:07think there's a real ceiling on it and then you wonder how he mentally reacts to the very first thing
02:12that goes wrong and so I expect a game plan that that keeps him out of harm's way as much
02:16as possible
02:17for as long as possible but how does he react and how does the team react to the first thing
02:21that goes wrong I mean there are nine point underdogs this week and six and a half point underdogs next
02:26week I mean by the NFL standards that's pretty strong they're they're not expected to perform well
02:31and if they don't you know we we know what could be coming we don't know how it's going to
02:35go but we
02:36haven't seen any of this and goofy things happen in early in NFL seasons we saw that just last year
02:41we see
02:41that every year right so I'm a little bit open-minded and not making firm predictions but I just there's
02:47nothing that I've seen for the last six weeks or for four years it tells me that this has any
02:52hope
02:52so what I think is interesting about this is I'm open-minded that these skilled players the Casey
02:58Concepcion's the Boston's the Judy's the Fannin juniors the Quinchon Jotkins the Samson I'm open-minded
03:05that those guys can make plays that that might be able with a great defensive performance to catapult
03:12you to victory but the overall idea is that one of the more confounding ideas about Deshaun is
03:17I do look at as a low ceiling uh offense I don't necessarily and I think the Browns look at
03:24as a
03:25higher floor which I disagree with and I think if I'm going with a high floor uh sorry a high
03:32ceiling
03:33low floor or a uh low floor low ceiling I just I really struggle with the idea that you would
03:41choose that last one we just talked about you should always go for the highest ceiling possible
03:44in this equation uh especially they're both combustible well yeah exactly but I think the
03:48interesting part about what what Zach was talking about with with Deshaun and then it just it's just
03:53kind of a if you if you if you pull it back a little bit it's just kind of fascinating
03:57to think
03:57about that he has to have this hot hand so to speak right Baker had this Baker always had
04:01Baker to have stretches in games where it'd be like nine in a row 10 in a row 11 in
04:05a row passes
04:06completed and I I hadn't really thought about Deshaun even though he should have maybe because of the
04:11the Bears game and how that first preseason game went where it felt like he was doing well he was
04:16completing passes and he got in rhythm and then the first time it went wrong and went sideways I'm
04:21telling you if you gave him a whole game that first preseason game that second half would have been
04:24disastrous that's why they didn't it was starting to spiral it really was and it was and they got him
04:29out
04:29there just enough time for people to be like that was a good performance that was fine and nobody's
04:33going to bring up any of the awkward exchanges or the weird uh almost fumble or actual fumble where
04:38he just took it back and just lost control of it yeah you and I by the way you and
04:41I got crap for
04:42saying that was fine because we didn't just say oh my god Deshaun is back right I know I don't
04:49remember
04:49that and and part of the reason why is because uh you you saw at the end again if you
04:54gave him that
04:54whole game he was gonna melt down there was no other way of looking at it and so I think
04:58what
04:59happened in the second game Nick is I think it just started off rough and it just kept going
05:02and kept staying rough and when he puts himself into a hole it seems like it's impossible for
05:07himself to bury his way out of it and so I think I think Zach touches on something that I
05:11think should
05:12be should be prevalent like if he starts off with the hot hand can he keep that going is that
05:16what he
05:16needs and if he starts to struggle is he just going to continue to struggle all right now here's the
05:21third damning take of of Zach Jackson talking about the potential lease and over under for how
05:28much we're going to see Deshaun Watson I put the over under at 10 and a half quarters so now
05:34if he
05:35makes it to the over then he probably makes it through the first month because it'd be hard on
05:38that short week but I just I just don't know what anybody sees in this and I don't know anybody
05:44outside the building that sees what they see I mean we've seen this guy play we know what it looks
05:49like you hear the coach say body of work and we know his body of work so how two years
05:54later could
05:54it be any better this one actually might be the most damning and remember the first one was he
05:59doesn't have one skill that challenges NFL defenses that is a dagger through the heart of the Deshaun
06:07you gotta believe thing it's unrecoverable the last one is I will say that was like the best defense
06:13of the offense with Deshaun but when you say I set the over under at 10 and a half quarters
06:18and nobody
06:19outside of the the walls of the organization see what they see in this guy I don't I don't know
06:26you recover from that level of damning when we talk about this like that to me was the most damning
06:30thing we heard uh yeah I mean I it's just you know I think Zach's Zach's words carry a little
06:35bit
06:35more weight because he's there every single day and uh him speaking the way that he speaks like I
06:39I can't tell you how loud people need to be uh or how often people need to be paying attention
06:44to
06:44this stuff but we this is nothing new for us though we've been talking about this for how long
06:47and the only the only answer he's got back or the only clap back he's got back is he's got
06:51to show
06:52us in week one that we're all idiots and we don't know what we're talking about well and I think
06:57conversely this is why the Browns if it gets really ugly on Sunday you can't hesitate if if Todd
07:06Munkin wants to set the winning tone and in Deshaun Watson looks like a broken toy all right
07:12I'll listen to the idea I'll keep an open mind he might be able to run the offense at a
07:17proficient
07:17level which he should be able to do 10 years in the NFL but if the guy who showed up
07:22in that Buffalo
07:22game shows up against Jacksonville you cannot put him out there for a full game and again I'm saying
07:29the most extreme version of this I'm not saying that's the most likely thing to happen although I do
07:33think Deshaun is going to look more broken than fixed on Sunday but if he looks unplayable you owe
07:39it to yourself you owe it to that locker room to have the quickest hook ever because between one
07:45half of football and certainly what we saw from Deshaun about three Saturdays ago you've heard the
07:52truth you can only hear the truth so many times and not listen well that's where the Browns but that's
07:58that was strong but that's where that's where the Browns always test that theory the Browns
08:01continually test that idea right there that you brought up like you can only hear it so many
08:05times or see it so many times and the Browns always go with the answer of well I don't know
08:10that Houston Deshaun might it might creep around the corner like you think they're going to answer
08:13themselves did did we find out about Houston Deshaun if we can if Munkin can do something that
08:18Stefanski couldn't you think they're going to do that in a half a football they're not going to do
08:21that in a half a football if he looks as bad as he did against Buffalo yes if it's you
08:25or I yes for
08:26them no no no chance for them them I don't think it's equal I think Todd Munkin that's what we're
08:31dealing with Todd Munkin can't run from the truth that guy that guy's far too honest will not be
08:36able to convince himself that in a half a football even if he throws four interceptions it looks like
08:40he can't even throw the football if he looks like Nathan Peterman I bet you he can see the truth
08:43right I think I think the front office and I also think Todd Munkin that's the hard reality in all
08:50this is they haven't been able to see the truth they're and they're not going to have like a
08:53eyes wide open awakening to Deshaun Watson in that moment in that half of the game they're
08:58gonna they're gonna at least give themselves the full game and I'd be I'd be shocked if it
09:02wasn't anything more than that I mean it's just it's it's it's how this works
