00:00Hello and welcome to Gangs All Here.
00:03My name is Ryan Sampson, the host and producer of the show,
00:05joined by, as always, by our special guest, Wayne Corbett.
00:08Wayne Corbett now joins us on behalf of DraftKings Sportsbook.
00:10DraftKings will have a 30% same-game parlay profit boost
00:13for the Jets-Patriots game Thursday night football.
00:16For all customers, just visit DraftKings Sportsbook and opt in.
00:20Wayne, we appreciate you always coming on here, man.
00:23How are you doing today on this Wednesday morning, sir?
00:25Doing good.
00:27I could say someone asked me the same thing.
00:29Ten minutes ago, and I said, you know, two-game winning streak.
00:32Things have turned, you know, changed, turned around.
00:35Obviously, a lot to go, lots to talk about with the trades and everything.
00:39But right now, sitting here, the Jets feeling, it's just,
00:43it's a better feeling than it was a couple weeks ago.
00:45Yeah, and you could certainly see it on Aaron Glenn's reaction.
00:49The locker room after the game, you see the videos from them.
00:52Players feel a lot better.
00:53It's always great when you win games, and they needed these wins.
00:56They needed to get that feeling of actually winning a game and getting off that schneid
01:00of just not having their first win.
01:03So, look, it's been two different ways for them to win these two games.
01:07They had a great back and forth between the Bengals.
01:09The offense explodes for 500 yards.
01:11And then last week against the Browns, the offense really didn't get going at all
01:15until that Brees Hall screen pass.
01:18So, for you, Wayne, what are you looking for tomorrow night for this Jets offense
01:22and what they can try and do against a Patriots defense that is the best in the NFL
01:27in terms of giving up the least amount of rushing yards per game?
01:30Yeah, you know what?
01:31They're going to have to play error-free football.
01:33But, yeah, listen, the first one is always the hardest.
01:36I've had two seasons of 1-15, 3-13, my first two, actually.
01:41But getting the first one, and then when you see how they were afterwards
01:46and how the players reacted to the post-game speech in the locker room,
01:50you kind of get, like, where they're at and what they're building towards.
01:54And it wasn't, like, a lucky thing.
01:55It was like, all right, it's starting to pay off.
01:58Not that they were buying in because they bought in already,
02:00but to carry over and win with special teams.
02:04Now, going to Patriots is tough, but sometimes it's better to be on the road.
02:11Kind of like, you know, underdogs, you go out there, you got nothing to lose.
02:16You know, it's a tough place to play.
02:18But, yeah, tough to move the ball on and tough to stop them.
02:22So, listen, AG's going to have to out-coach them.
02:24And special teams, now that we know that it's a weapon,
02:28that has to be something we focus on.
02:31But, yeah, you got to play error-free football starting from first quarter.
02:36You can't get behind in a place like that.
02:38Look, I'm not sure in your history if you've gone through what this Jets team
02:43has gone through in terms of when they traded away two, you know,
02:47you could call them popular and star players in Sauce Gardner
02:50and Quinton Williams on the defensive side of the ball.
02:52But for you, if you were in that locker room,
02:55what's your message you would give to your teammates on a short week
02:58coming off a win where it's like, look, we traded away these guys.
03:02It's now us in the locker room.
03:04What is your, I guess, motto and self, you know,
03:09kind of motivation for your guys in the locker room,
03:12how you would respond to that?
03:14Right.
03:14Well, I mean, it's tough for me to say because I don't know who's in that
03:18locker room that would get the team together together or offensively,
03:23you know, defensively, who's the leader, you know, that gets them in there
03:27and says, listen, this is what's done.
03:29It's done.
03:30You know, let's play hard enough that we're around to, you know,
03:33be rewarded by all these draft picks.
03:36You know, let's be on that team.
03:37But, yeah, we can have a vet go in there and just explain.
03:41But, you know, I'm sure AG behind the scenes is like, you know,
03:44I know we got rid of these guys.
03:46Had it be done.
03:47Not that they weren't bought in, but what we got for them,
03:50we might have lost Quinton anyway at some point.
03:53But, yeah, they didn't fit the system.
03:57But going forward, this is how I want to have things.
04:00And he wants to turn, you know, he needs players.
04:04You know, he needs, you know, quality players, two guys working to make it.
04:10So it's the right move.
04:11And I think they understand that, especially having two wins in a row
04:13and a first win without those guys kind of shows that, hey,
04:17maybe him and Mouji know what they're doing, you know?
04:20Yeah, it certainly seemed that way.
04:22And just the return was, it was incredible for the future.
04:26You know, you just, you get frustrated as a fan.
04:28It's like, oh, here we go.
04:29We're going to the rebuild again.
04:31So now you have to bear down.
04:32And look, I am happy that they got these two wins.
04:35I don't, I hate seeing losing football.
04:38And you want to see wins out of this team.
04:40And like you said, there's positives where the special team seems like a real
04:43weapon, especially with Iguano coming back and the kickoff return he had.
04:46If Isaiah Williams can develop into a real putt returner threat,
04:49that's huge for this team.
04:50I do want to go on the other parts of the return from the trade deadline.
04:53They did get Ani Mitchell, A.D. Mitchell from the Colts,
04:56a very talented receiver coming out of Texas.
04:59Hadn't lived up to his potential yet, but it feels like there's something
05:02untapped there.
05:03And then John Mechie they got as well.
05:05What could they potentially get out of those two guys the rest of the season?
05:09Because it looks like they're going to be without Garrett Wilson this week,
05:12who's dealing with a knee injury.
05:13Yeah.
05:14Listen, you know, those are the little things that are forgotten about that you got
05:17to give the GM credit for.
05:19As far as fans, you know, we won the one game.
05:23They're like, oh, we're going to mess up the draft.
05:26Dude, we're game eight.
05:28You know, then you win the second one without the two guys you just traded.
05:32And you're like, oh, I can kind of see this.
05:35And then you see, you know, Mechie fits in and this guy fits in.
05:37Then you're like, all right, maybe let's build something here.
05:41So fan-wise, you're changed.
05:42You know, if it's week 15, 16, you're like, you know, figures we win,
05:48we go from this pick to this pick.
05:50You know, we go from, you know, whatever, Trevor Lawrence to, you know what I mean?
05:55But, you know, we're in the middle of the season.
05:57We got our bye.
05:59But the two games in a row is nice.
06:01But these little legal pieces that they got besides the draft pick, listen,
06:06even you guys and, you know, the other guys I listen to, you know,
06:11I don't know if I can say their names.
06:12It's okay.
06:13We absolutely, it's the media, man.
06:15It's the same.
06:15The guys who are, you know, not haters, but, you know,
06:18the realest about the Jets and what they've been are saying that was an A-plus job
06:23by Mouji and AG getting those picks for those guys and getting that money on Colts payrolls
06:32that ours are now like, wow, well, maybe this is the group to lead us for the next,
06:36handful of the years, not the whole one, two, and you're done.
06:39No, I agree.
06:41And it's the hope that I can hold on to as a fan and as a realist as well.
06:46It's like I see their vision and I see the talent that they brought in with an A.D. Mitchell
06:51and a John Mechie.
06:52You're taking swings on guys that, you know, other teams are willing to give up on,
06:56but maybe they can work in this system.
06:58A.D. Mitchell, though, real quick, how special can this guy be if they can develop
07:04and tap into that potential?
07:05Because we saw what he did at Texas.
07:07The guy has special abilities.
07:09What do you see as him as a wide receiver and if he can make an impact for this Jets offense?
07:15Yeah, I don't know enough about him.
07:17I remember the name for sure.
07:19I know he was a high pick.
07:20Listen, you know, I think he had one bad play dropping the ball before, you know,
07:25and I think he fell out of favor, but you just had some guys feeling at the right time
07:31that kind of moved him down the depth chart and just fell out of favor.
07:34New atmosphere, new environment.
07:36You know, they bring him in, Mechie in.
07:38Right there you have two guys, two quality guys, two young guys.
07:42Yeah.
07:42Are still being developed.
07:45And, you know, I don't know if they can do a quarterback,
07:48but the two young guys that they're developing.
07:51So, yeah, that definitely helps.
07:53And that's probably two less draft picks you have to use on guys like that
07:57that you already kind of know they can play in the league.
08:00It's just a matter of getting the best out of them.
08:02Yeah, I agree.
08:03I agree with you, Wayne.
08:04I do want to ask you about Brees Hall.
08:06He's had two really, really good games here in a row.
08:10Incredible performance.
08:11Three touchdowns against the Bengals.
08:13Even threw for the touchdown.
08:15And then last week, there were some special runs in that second half.
08:19I remember the run in the fourth quarter.
08:22He has two defenders in his face, and he just jukes the hell out of them,
08:25out of the hole, and then he's breaking loose for a 20, 25-yard run.
08:29And then, of course, he has that ability to catch the ball
08:31on a screen pass and take it to the house.
08:34Is it right for the Jets to keep this guy,
08:37and would you like to see him stay here long-term,
08:39potentially on an extension?
08:41Yeah.
08:42Listen, he wouldn't have been up for extension anyway.
08:45Like, you know, Sauce and Garrett, they took care of the year earlier,
08:50too, before they expected or this and that.
08:53Obviously, things change.
08:54But, yeah, you keep Brees.
08:57Obviously, Brandon got hurt.
08:59You keep Brees.
09:00The amazing thing about Brees is he knew he could have been traded.
09:04I think we're looking for a three, someone off of a four.
09:07That's part of it.
09:09You know what I mean?
09:09He saw his friends who were all pros go.
09:12He doesn't look like he's running fast,
09:14but he's just eating the ground and this and that.
09:17So keeping him, Garrett was untouchable, and Jermaine Johnson.
09:21You know, look at Will McDonald.
09:22When he steps up, these guys, these young guys have a perfect opportunity now
09:27to show what they can do.
09:29And it's a great opportunity.
09:32And, yeah, I'm excited for all those guys.
09:34And Brees, like I said, Brees, he is pivotal to that offense right now.
09:38Yeah, the offense is focused around the rushing attack,
09:42but then what Brees can do in the passing game,
09:44it's another level to his game that it just doesn't go unnoticed.
09:49Look, give me your prediction for tomorrow night.
09:52Jets, Patriots, it's a massive underdog.
09:54Right now, I see them at 12.5-point dog.
09:57They started out as 11.5-point dog.
09:59History has not been kind to the Jets when they're this big of a dog in recent history.
10:03But what are your keys for tomorrow night, and what's your ultimate prediction for Jets-Patriots?
10:09Yeah, like I said, it's a minus 12.5.
10:12That'll let you know the amount of respect to Howard.
10:14Listen, Patriots want a team that was thought of.
10:17You know, you think Buffalo right away when you think AFC East.
10:20But, you know, sometimes when you're the only game in town, you're playing a midweek night game.
10:28Adds a little motivation, especially when you're the weight team and no one expects anything.
10:3212.5 is a lot.
10:33But listen, you know, just watching the game, like you said, we talked about DraftKings.
10:38It's have fun with that.
10:39You bet, you know, on your player.
10:41You bet on Breeze for a touchdown.
10:42You bet on this and that.
10:43That makes it fun, but listen, I think the guys who you expect to make the plays like Breeze are going to make them.
10:52And, you know, you throw, you know, Isaiah Davis in there with some of the runs and you've been on special teams.
10:58But I just think that collectively, if they play as a unit, it's just error free.
11:03But it's amazing at this point in the season, we've had, what, one turnover in nine games?
11:10No interceptions.
11:12It's impossible.
11:13So if they can get one or two of them, you know, and my God, have a defensive touchdown or something like that, that's what it's going to take.
11:21It's going to take a perfect game.
11:22I know it's New England and going in, you'd be like, oh, that could be, you know, we can split with them or this.
11:28What are they?
11:28What's their record?
11:2972?
11:29There are seven and two.
11:31Yeah.
11:32It's going to be a tough one.
11:34Yeah.
11:34But no, I love it.
11:35I love playing in New England.
11:36I love playing on Thursday night, you know, Sunday night.
11:39You get extra, do you get extra up for, for Patriots week?
11:42Yeah.
11:43You can do.
11:44Sometimes getting booed is better than getting a cheer at home.
11:48And that was one of the places you come out and they boo you, man.
11:50They let you know.
11:51So, yeah, look, Patriots are eight and two.
11:54Mike Vrabel, first year as the head coach there.
11:57It's quite the turnaround.
11:58Drake Mays, a young quarterback who's having like an MVP-like year, but he has turned the
12:02ball over a couple times in the last three games.
12:04So, you wonder if the Jets can force a turnover there, like you said, and play perfect football.
12:08Don't make any mistakes.
12:09Keep it close at halftime.
12:11And maybe you can make something happen in the second half.
12:12Who knows?
12:14Wayne, I know I got to let you go here quickly.
12:16So, I just want to finish up here again.
12:18Wayne Corbett now joins us on behalf of DraftKings Sportsbook.
12:21DraftKings will have a 30% same-game parlay profit boost for the Jets Patriots tomorrow
12:26night on Thursday Night Football.
12:27For all customers, just visit DraftKings Sportsbook and opt in.
12:31Wayne, we appreciate you as always for coming on here and giving us your analysis for Jets
12:35football.
12:35And we're looking forward to the next time we catch up with you, man.
12:38Two seconds, real quick.
12:39Yeah.
12:39I just want to say, you know, how great of a guy and what a big loss that was for Jets
12:46Nation, you know, NFL fans, obviously, feel for his family.
12:50And the Brookingshaw spoke on his behalf at the game.
12:54I don't know if I would have ever been able to do that about someone such a good friend,
12:58but I just want to know, you know, to remember him, you know, what a great guy he was on and
13:02off the field.
13:03And, you know, they're doing it for NIP right now.
13:07And that's something to have that to believe in and stuff like that means a lot.
13:13So I just want to mention him, how much he meant to all of us.
13:17It's well said, man.
13:18Someone who lost their mother to kidney cancer this year.
13:21For myself, I felt what's going on with that Mangold family.
13:25It's tough.
13:26And just how damn young he was.
13:28And he was one of my favorite Jets growing up.
13:31And we're going to miss him in this Jets community for forever.
13:34But he's going to have a lasting memory here with us.
13:37And well said, Wayne.
13:38And we appreciate you, man, for always coming on.
13:40And we're looking forward to the next time we get to catch up with you.
13:42All right, man.
13:43Talk to you soon.
13:43Bye.
13:43Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:44Bye.
13:45Bye.
13:46Bye.
13:46Bye.
13:48Bye.
13:48Bye.
13:48Bye.
13:48Bye.
13:48Bye.
13:48Bye.
13:48Bye.
13:49Bye.
