00:23doing all right uh yesterday really it's funny for as bad as that was it didn't phase me in the
00:28same way because that game was over so quickly that i didn't really have a time to get mad yesterday
00:33the angers really hit today coach yeah it sounds like it you know here's the thing it's they didn't
00:39play well everybody didn't play well and you know i was asked about the interception and i'm breaking
00:43that down right now all interceptions are not the same and what i mean by that is that was that
00:48was
00:49such a drive killer but also a game killer right it was uh made some really good reads did a
00:54nice job
00:55hitting casey conception they brought that linebacker he did some good things in that
00:58first drive and then he kind of uh imploded a little bit and but the idea of what you know
01:03they all played bad and for me he wasn't the biggest issue yesterday i know people don't want
01:07to hear that for me it was the defense the defensive line especially not able to win on first down

01:12them in bad situations uh just an overall bad performance the special teams played well i thought
01:17that was really important because they worked on it so hard uh just a really bad performance i don't you
01:22know like you said i don't mind eating it's not filth to me it's believing what you see everything
01:26i said was it didn't work out they didn't win inside mason graham played okay malik collins didn't
01:32win uh the rookie did really really well against both of them um they didn't win our first down either
01:36side of the ball they got handled the thing that worries me a little bit as i break this film

01:41is are they getting handled up front or is it just that they're not quite lined up right and you

01:45people are mad because i always say you have to go to the all 22 and for me that's the
01:50reason why
01:50because for me if you're getting physically handled that's a big much a bigger problem then you don't
01:56line up right and i don't know uh up front what actually happened there yet so i'm in the process
02:01that yeah just good football and uh you you get up the next morning when you win or lose and

02:07you fix it you flush it you get ready to roll all right based on what you have seen how
02:11much of it
02:12do you believe when todd munkin says deshaun looked really good because i i roll my eyes at that i
02:17think the
02:18way that a lot of people do well you know and once again i i'm an individual thinker jp you

02:23that and i don't think it was as bad as people thought i thought um but i also don't think

02:27was very good and what i mean by that is that you know they had o-line issues they had
02:32uh defensive
02:33issues he didn't play well either and obviously as a quarterback that's part of your role is to kind
02:38of elevate some other people but his play i thought he did some really good things with his feet i
02:43like
02:43that counter they ran they had a couple design runs for him uh again not not huge plays but i
02:48think that helped uh that will help him if he's going to be productive i do not think i will
02:53say
02:54that up front he did not play well however i do not think he's the biggest problem and i do
02:57not
02:58think he played terrible now the operation stuff that's part of a quarterback thing and i said this
03:03with chador and i've said it with taylor green and i've said it with dylan gabriel operation is just
03:08like qb center exchange it's always on the quarterbacks and the quarterbacks have to eat that whether
03:13it's them or not there was sometimes during camp that all those quarterbacks they were getting kind
03:17of hassled for you know everybody was talking about chador and his uh inability to you know get things
03:23operated there's a lot that goes into that for both guys for all four guys so i thought the operation
03:28was very poor uh by him and the offense uh that's like i said the interception that's a huge interception
03:35because you were off to a good start and the momentum and you made a couple good reads and you
03:39used
03:39your feet properly and the other thing i see right now is that you got a blitz inside uh he
03:44slides to
03:45the left and then his eyes just lock on the curl route and and then a luke can just slid
03:50over and
03:50made a great play so those are things he has to fix that's bad football that didn't you know but
03:55again
03:55i don't think um if you for me as a football coach when i look at that in that game
04:00he's part of the
04:01problem he's not the only problem and in fact he's not the biggest problem and uh for me right now
04:06moving on to tampa so here's my concern i do think he was the biggest problem coach i think if
04:11you take
04:11away the first and last drive of the game he was 12 for 17 for 130 yards i think operationally
04:18he
04:19failed them i think that interception impacted everyone and sucked the air out of that team
04:23before the defense had a chance to hit the field and i think then you go to it he had
04:2838 yards i have
04:29no idea how he got it because he looks slow and he did look indecisive to me and so i
04:35you know if the
04:36veteran quarterback starting i need him to not impale his own team i i like the way you talked
04:43about his performance is how i would describe if shador did the same thing going on year eight
04:49sorry game eight of his career not a guy who's 30 years old well yeah that's fair and here's the
04:55bottom line is it's a new offense and anything you say at this point in time for me it all
04:59goes back to
05:00winning they have to win and he has to play better and i get all that uh but the idea
05:04of this is what
05:05we saw from i would expect to see this from a second year guy and not an eighth year guy

05:09it's a new offense for all of them it's a new concept for all of them uh he didn't he

05:14do it well yesterday so the idea of i told you so i knew he's going to play bad he
05:17did play bad
05:18but that doesn't help you moving forward so everything you're saying i didn't think he was
05:22slow uh i thought he made some fairly decent runs with his feet i don't think he's a guy who's
05:27gonna you know he's not a design run guy where he's like lamar and he's gonna get uh you know

05:32he's a guy that needs to get six to eight so they can sandwich your door so they can that
05:36backside end doesn't always fold over and make the play um for me he's got a predictable uh like
05:41you said i think the thing that i agree with you on is that interception really sucked the life out
05:46of that team uh because i think there is some hesitation from everybody and then all of a sudden
05:50they get off to a decent start and then the air just comes out of the balloon um but for
05:54me once again
05:55and and you know me i respect everybody's opinion i don't think he's the biggest problem
05:59uh as a quarterback you will always get the most blame you will always get the most credit
06:03that's the nature of the position you got to be able the only thing that bothers me about this
06:07whole thing is him being upset about what other people think you have to be an individual thinker
06:12you have to have thick skin everybody knows your job everybody can do your job better everybody can
06:17coach it better you just got to flush it and the bottom line is you got to win games and
06:21he just
06:21not has not been able to do that coach i think i heard jim schwartz's name more yesterday than i
06:26had in the previous seven months combined uh ruttenberg not off to a great start tell me where
06:30the defense failed and tell me how much of this is going to stay with them up against tampa bay
06:35and
06:35baker mayfield we didn't play he didn't play as much man as we thought and he didn't um he didn't
06:42bring enough pressure now the thing that i said you know talked about the loss of miles and the
06:45thing uh what he did for me he allowed them to bring four schwartz was lucky where he could bring
06:52four because miles was always creating that automatic pressure and he was always getting
06:57around the edge and he didn't always make the play but he just was creating such havoc for an
07:01offense that had to work on it and uh you know if you're an offensive coordinator you go into that
07:05week and you're thinking i got to do whatever i got to do to block miles garrett and if it
07:10means we
07:10have to leave if we have to take people out of the route we're going to do everything we can
07:14so it
07:15takes away a lot of what um the defense can do they don't have to be tricky right so they
07:20always got
07:21to rush four which means they got to cover with seven i don't know if they can do that now
07:25anymore
07:25they're going to have to generate some pressure bring some five and six man pressures some
07:29overloads uh it wasn't a good start and hopefully again i know people don't want to hear it but it's
07:35his first time calling plays and you know it's his first time even though he's philosophically the
07:41same it's his first down on third first time at third medium it's his first time where his
07:45defensive line um is just getting mauled and it's second and one and second and four
07:51and third and three and those situations you have to look at as a coach and hopefully
07:55he learns from it because he he got out coached they got outplayed uh you know i you know it's
08:01like the idea of people always saying uh ridge you're too positive well what's the other option
08:06we we can't win ever and we stink so he's got to look at himself in the mirror and say
08:10i got out
08:10coached what do i have to do to get better uh that's for me that's what i'm looking for that
08:14defense has to play better uh as well in tampa coach honestly that last thing you said
08:19might actually just be true for a lot of people yeah it would have been nice to hear we stink
08:23it
08:23will never be good again i feel like there's a fair amount of browns fans and again some of that's
08:28uh weighted heavily on deshaun but there's a fair amount of browns fans who feel that way after
08:32getting your ass kicked 34 to 10 and that's what it was and you know i here's the thing that's
08:37why i
08:37always say leadership is lonely you're right everything that you're saying everything that you hear on
08:41the radio everything the vitriol that i've gotten today because of uh it's all warranted it's all it's not
08:47something i go that's not true uh all you all you can do as a coach is look at yourself
08:51in the
08:51mirror and say listen we got it we got it handed to us uh what do we got to do
08:56to not let that
08:56happen again but don't lose the same game twice don't buy into what everybody's saying you know
09:01it's the idea of everybody thinks you stink right now so prove them right or prove them wrong and
09:05that's why you hope munkin and once again i don't have any proof of this but you hope munkin had
09:11those non-negotiables you hope munkin had when i come in we're going to do everything to win
09:15and we might not like what he's doing but if it's his decision his decision then he drives the car
09:21if
09:21it crashes and that's all i want to see and the idea of you know i've heard things like people
09:26are
09:26having receipts and this guy should play and the bottom line is they got to play better and they
