00:10You're going to be feeling really good after all that smack talk in the pregame yesterday about thinking that the
00:15Panthers
00:15Just weren't a good matchup for the Browns now the game obviously was tight
00:19It was a it was a closer game than maybe maybe you predicted but you predicted a win overall
00:25Break down exactly how the Browns got there what you liked what you didn't like
00:29Well, you know the idea first and foremost, they found a way to win in the fourth quarter
00:33The idea that they're protecting the football the idea that they're playing complimentary football
00:37So what I mean by that even if you look at that first drive you get a couple first downs
00:41Then you get to punt them deep so they're helping each other out at the end
00:44I didn't mind the fourth down call. I would like to have put it in
00:47Watson's hands because he's run the ball so well, but you're telling your team whether you like or not
00:51You're telling your team you have confidence in you know, I'm a little disappointed in the run game
00:56It's still you know, that was a they didn't load the box to you know
00:59They didn't add resources to stop the run
01:01But again, I thought Watson played very well in the fourth quarter
01:05I also think he didn't play terribly in the first three quarters
01:07I know that's kind of been the talk where it was just the fourth quarter
01:10He had three really questionable plays and that was really it in the first three quarters
01:14He played fairly well. He just wasn't really impactful
01:17And that's what he's got to be a little bit more impactful, especially early on in games
01:21Again, I think this defense is really good. Mason Graham is playing at a high level Carson Swessinger
01:26They did a lot of as I'm watching the all 22 over and over. They did a lot of really
01:29cool things on defense
01:31Coach Ruttenberg has really got these guys flying around doing some different stuff
01:36Lance you mentioned the run game and this the it's still sort of struggling a little bit
01:40What do you maybe notice with that specifically?
01:42I thought they were a little bit better yesterday against the Panthers defense that we knew was kind of susceptible
01:47to that
01:47But what still isn't clicking to get that phase of the offense moving in the right direction?
01:53Well, the first thing is the same as last week
01:55So the double teams aren't getting any move backwards, you know vertical displacement
01:58That's the first thing those guys talk about when they get into their meetings when they talk about double teams
02:02We got to move the guy back first before we go on to the linebacker
02:06They're just not getting any movement now
02:08That being said they have to do that together because these guys aren't guys who just knock you off the
02:13ball
02:13Barber is but the rest of these guys are guys who use their feet well
02:17They're guys who use technique well
02:19So they have to be technically sound and there's just not a lot of rhythm in their double teams
02:23And you have to get to know what your partner does, right?
02:26It's a dance on the double team
02:27You have to make sure you understand his strengths his weaknesses how he uses his shoulders, etc
02:32So they just haven't really timed up the double teams yet
02:35And there's just not a lot of, you know, there's just not a lot of wins up front
02:39Where you're just taking the guy and knocking him back
02:42And again, you're getting three or four guys doing it right
02:46One or two guys messing up
02:47They were a little bit better, I thought, on the backside cutoff
02:50But really it's the point of attack
02:52They're not winning at the point of attack
02:53And that's just hopefully going to come with reps
02:55The more and more they do it, these double teams should get better and better
02:58I know the pressure from the Brown side of things in the defensive line yesterday was awesome
03:02Mason Graham was obviously awesome
03:04Tell us what you're seeing with Mason Graham right now
03:07And the D-line that was getting, I mean, just about everyone there
03:10Well, you know, they're doing some really cool stuff up front
03:14So for years we've watched the Browns line up with two guys on either side of the center
03:17With Miles being wide, always to the, you know, the tackles left, etc
03:22Now you're getting some really cool stuff up front
03:24They're showing four and five and six
03:26They're bringing simulated pressures
03:28So what it's making these offensive lines do
03:31Is Rutenberg's making these offensive lines account for four, five, and six guys
03:35And then they're bringing four, five, and six
03:37But remember, when you show a certain amount of people
03:39The offensive line has to account for them
03:41And then they're bringing four to one side
03:43Or three to one side, one on the other side
03:45They're bringing Williams now
03:47They're bringing Swessinger
03:48They're dropping Swessinger
03:49They're dropping their defensive end
03:51So they're being creative in their pressures
03:53They're not just lining up
03:55Because when you had Miles Garrett
03:56You were kind of counting on him to take care of that
03:58And then they're up front
03:59When they do just bring four
04:01They don't just rush in the A, B gaps and D gaps
04:04They C gaps
04:05They stunt, they twist
04:07They do a bunch of different stuff inside
04:09Those guys are really flying around
04:11They're aggressive
04:12Mason Graham is just kind of what I thought
04:15He's able to play small
04:16At 300 plus pounds
04:18He can angle, he can slant, he can stunt
04:20But you see him a lot yesterday too
04:22He can play the point of attack and get his hands on you
04:24And anchor in there too as a free technique
04:26So he's just taking the next step
04:28He just looks physically better
04:30And I knew he was going to have a big year
04:32Just because he's physically stout this year
04:33But again, yeah
04:35They're bringing pressure from all over the place
04:36And they're all, it's team defense
04:38And it's fun to watch
04:40Lance, when you have a quarterback that plays
04:43I mean, let's just call a spade a spade here
04:45Pretty poorly through the first three quarters of a game like that
04:48And then kind of comes to life in the fourth quarter way that he did
04:52As a coach, as an evaluator of these guys
04:55Like, how do you sort of grade that?
04:57How do you sort of evaluate that type of performance
04:59Where it's like, hey, you got it done in crunch time
05:01But at the same time, you know your offense is still missing certain things
05:05Because this player's just not playing at a high enough level yet

05:10I'm going to push back a little bit
05:11I don't think he played poorly
05:12So I thought he had some bad play
05:15So he has an interception that should have been an interception to Lee
05:18On the first drive
05:19Absolutely terrible throw
05:20I'm not sure what he was looking at
05:22Then he has a bad throw to Casey
