00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary, as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:59O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger.
05:03Do not discipline me in your raging fury.
05:07Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am frail.
05:10Heal me, Lord, for my bones are shaking.
05:15I am absolutely terrified.
05:17And you, Lord, how long will this continue?
05:22Relent, O Lord, rescue me, deliver me because of your faithfulness.
05:28For no one remembers you in the realm of death.
05:31In shale, who gives you thanks?
05:34I am exhausted as I groan.
05:37All night long I drench my bed in tears.
05:40My tears saturate the cushion beneath me.
05:45My eyes grow dim from suffering.
05:48They grow weak because of all my enemies.
05:51Turn back from me, all you who behave wickedly.
05:55For the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping.
05:59The Lord has heard my appeal for mercy.
06:02The Lord has accepted my prayer.
06:06They will be humiliated and absolutely terrified.
06:10All my enemies will turn back and be suddenly humiliated.
06:16Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
06:21As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
06:25World without end.
06:26Amen.
06:31Psalm 7
06:34O Lord my God, in you I have taken shelter.
06:39Deliver me from all who chase me.
06:42Rescue me.
06:43Otherwise, they will rip me to shreds like a lion.
06:47They will tear me to bits and no one will be able to rescue me.
06:52O Lord my God, if I have done what they say,
06:55or I am guilty of unjust actions,
06:58or have wronged my ally or helped his lawless enemy,
07:02may an enemy relentlessly chase me and catch me.
07:06May he trample me to death and leave me lying dishonoured in the dust.
07:13Stand up angrily, Lord.
07:16Rise up with raging fury against my enemies.
07:21Wake up for my sake and execute the judgment you have decreed for them.
07:27The countries are assembled all around you.
07:31Take once more your rightful place over them.
07:36The Lord judges the nations.
07:40Vindicate me, Lord, because I am innocent,
07:43because I am blameless, O exalted one.
07:46May the evil deeds of the wicked come to an end,
07:50but make the innocent secure, O righteous God,
07:55you who examine inner thoughts and motives.
07:59The exalted God is my shield,
08:02the one who delivers the morally upright.
08:06God is a just judge.
08:08He is angry throughout the day.
08:11If a person does not repent,
08:14God will wield his sword.
08:16He has prepared to shoot his bow.
08:19He has prepared deadly weapons to use against him.
08:23He gets ready to shoot flaming arrows.
08:28See the one who is pregnant with wickedness,
08:31who conceives destructive plans
08:33and gives birth to harmful lies.
08:36He digs a pit and then falls into the hole he has made.
08:40He has become the victim of his own destructive plans,
08:44and the violence he intended for others
08:48falls on his own head.
08:52I will thank the Lord for his justice.
08:55I will sing praises to the Lord Most High.
08:59Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
09:03as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
09:07world without end.
09:09Amen.
09:11Psalm 8
09:14O Lord, our Lord,
09:16how magnificent is your reputation throughout the earth.
09:21You reveal your majesty in the heavens above.
09:25From the mouths of children and nursing babies
09:28you have ordained praise on account of your adversaries,
09:32so that you might put an end to the vindictive enemy.
09:37When I look up at the heavens which your fingers made
09:40and see the moon and the stars which you set in place,
09:44of what importance is the human race
09:47that you should notice them?
09:49Of what importance is mankind
09:51that you should pay attention to them?
09:55You made them a little less than the heavenly beings.
09:58You crowned mankind with honour and majesty.
10:02You appoint them to rule over your creation.
10:05You have placed everything under their authority,
10:08including all the sheep and cattle,
10:11as well as the wild animals,
10:13the birds in the sky,
10:15the fish in the sea,
10:16and everything that moves through the currents of the sea.
10:20O Lord, our Lord,
10:22how magnificent is your reputation throughout the earth.
10:27Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
10:29and to the Holy Spirit,
10:31as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
10:35world without end.
10:37Amen.
10:44The prophet Ezekiel chapter 15
10:49Yahweh's word came to me, saying,
10:51Son of man,
10:51what is the vine tree more than any tree?
10:54The vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?
10:58Will wood be taken of it to make anything?
11:01Will men take a pin of it to hang a vessel on it?
11:06Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel.
11:09The fire has devoured both its ends,
11:12and the middle of it is burnt.
11:16Is it profitable for any work?
11:19Behold, when it is whole,
11:21it was suitable for no work.
11:23How much less,
11:24when the fire has devoured it,
11:26and it has been burnt,
11:27will it be suitable for any work?
11:32Therefore, thus says the Lord Yahweh,
11:33as the vine tree amongst the trees of the forest,
11:37which I have given to the fire for fuel.
11:39So I will give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
11:43I will set my face against them.
11:45They will go out from the fire,
11:47but the fire will devour them.
11:50Then you will know that I am Yahweh,
11:52when I set my face against them.
11:54I will make the land desolate,
11:56because they have committed a trespass,
11:59says the Lord Yahweh.
12:01This is the word of the Lord.
12:04Thanks be to God.
12:17Mary said,
12:19My soul exalts the Lord,
12:22and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
12:26because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
12:32For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
12:36because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
12:40and holy is his name.
12:43From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
12:49He has demonstrated power with his arm.
12:53He has scattered those whose pride wells up
12:56from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
12:59He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
13:02and has lifted up those of lowly position.
13:05He has filled the hungry with good things,
13:08and has sent the rich away empty.
13:12He has helped his servant Israel,
13:15remembering his mercy,
13:17as he promised to our ancestors,
13:19to Abraham,
13:21and to his descendants for ever.
13:25Glory be to the Father,
13:27and to the Son,
13:27and to the Holy Spirit,
13:29as it was in the beginning,
13:31is now,
13:32and ever shall be,
13:34world without end.
13:36Amen.
13:45The Gospel according to Saint Mark,
13:47chapter 5.
13:50When Jesus had gone over again in the boat to the other side,
13:53a great number of people came to him.
13:56He was by the sea.
13:58One of the rulers of the synagogue,
14:00Jairus, by name,
14:01came,
14:02and seeing him,
14:03knelt at his feet,
14:05making strong prayers to him,
14:06saying,
14:06My little daughter is near to death.
14:09It is my prayer that you will come and put your hands on her,
14:13that she may be made well and have life.
14:17He went with him,
14:18and a great number of people went after him and came around him.
14:24A woman,
14:25who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,
14:27had undergone much at the hands of a number of medical men,
14:30and had given all she had,
14:32but was no better.
14:34But even worse,
14:36when she had news of all the things that Jesus had done,
14:40she went amongst the people,
14:42coming after him,
14:43and put her hand on his robe.
14:46For she said,
14:47If I may only put my hand on his robe,
14:50I will be made well.
14:53Straight away the fountain of her blood was stopped,
14:56and she had a feeling in her body that her disease had gone,
14:59and she was well.
15:02Jesus was conscious that power had gone out from him,
15:06and turning to the people,
15:07he said,
15:08Who touched my robe?
15:10Jesus said to him,
15:12Look at all the people around you on every side,
15:15and you say,
15:15Who touched me?
15:18On his looking around to see her who had done this,
15:21the woman, shaking with fear,
15:23conscious of what had been done to her,
15:26came,
15:26fell on her face before him,
15:28and gave him a true account of everything.
15:32Then Jesus said to her,
15:33My daughter, your faith has made you well.
15:36Go in peace.
15:37Be freed from your disease.
15:42While he was still talking,
15:44messengers came from the ruler of the synagogue's house,
15:46saying,
15:47Your daughter is dead.
15:49Do not trouble the master.
15:51But Jesus,
15:52not listening to their words,
15:54said to the ruler of the synagogue,
15:56Have no fear.
15:57Just have faith.
15:58And he did not let anyone come with him,
16:01only Peter,
16:02James,
16:02and John,
16:03the brother of James.
16:06When they came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue,
16:09he saw the people running this way and that,
16:12weeping and crying loudly.
16:15Going in,
16:16he said to them,
16:17Why are you making such a noise and weeping?
16:20The child is not dead,
16:22but sleeping.
16:23But they laughed at him.
16:25He,
16:26having sent them out,
16:28took the father of the child and her mother,
16:30and those who were with him,
16:32and went in to where the child was.
16:36Taking her by the hand,
16:37he said to her,
16:39Chalitha,
16:39Gumi,
16:40which is,
16:41Child,
16:42I say to you,
16:42get up.
16:45The young girl got up straight away and was walking about.
16:48She was about twelve years old.
16:52They were overcome with wonder.
16:54He gave special orders to them,
16:56that they were not to say anything of this,
16:59and that some food should be given to them.
17:02This is the word of the Lord.
17:05Thanks be to God.
17:17Now according to your word,
17:20Sovereign Lord,
17:21permit your servant to depart in peace.
17:24For my eyes have seen your salvation,
17:27that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
17:31a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
17:35and for glory to your people Israel.
17:40Glory be to the Father,
17:42and to the Son,
17:42and to the Holy Spirit,
17:44as it was in the beginning,
17:46is now,
17:47and ever shall be,
17:48world without end.
17:50Amen.
17:55I believe in God,
17:57the Father Almighty,
17:59maker of heaven and earth,
18:01and in Jesus Christ,
18:02his only Son,
18:03our Lord,
18:05who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
18:08born of the Virgin Mary,
18:10suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
18:13was crucified,
18:15dead,
18:15and buried.
18:17He descended into hell.
18:18On the third day,
18:20he rose again from the dead.
18:22He ascended into heaven,
18:25and is sitting at the right hand of God,
18:27the Father Almighty.
18:29From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
18:34I believe in the Holy Spirit,
18:36the Holy Catholic Church,
18:38the communion of saints,
18:40the forgiveness of sins,
18:42the resurrection of the body,
18:45and the life everlasting.
18:47Amen.
18:53The Lord be with you,
18:55and with your spirit.
18:59Let us pray.
19:03Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:06Christ, have mercy upon us.
19:11Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:17Our Father,
19:19who is in heaven,
19:21holy is your name.
19:23May your kingdom come.
19:26May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
19:30Amen.
19:31Give us this day our daily bread.
19:33Forgive us our trespasses,
19:35as we forgive those who trespass against us.
19:40Lead us not into temptation,
19:42but deliver us from evil.
19:45For yours is the kingdom,
19:48the power and the glory,
19:50for ever and ever.
19:52For ever and ever.
19:53Amen.
19:58O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
20:00and grant us your salvation.
20:06protect and guide those in authority over us,
20:11and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
20:17Endure your ministers with righteousness,
20:20and make your chosen people joyful.
20:25O Lord, save your people,
20:29and bless your inheritance.
20:33Give peace in our time, O Lord,
20:38because there is none other who fights for us,
20:40but only you, O God.
20:44O God, make clean our hearts within us,
20:48and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
21:00Let us pray.
21:03Almighty and most merciful God,
21:05whose only gift comes that your faithful people
21:09give you true and laudable service,
21:12grant, we beseech you,
21:14that we may so faithfully serve you in this life,
21:16that we will not fail finally to attain your heavenly promises.
21:21Through the merits of Jesus Christ,
21:23Christ our Lord.
21:24Amen.
21:34O God,
21:36from whom all holy desires,
21:39all good counsels,
21:40and all just works proceed,
21:43give to your servants that peace
21:45which the world cannot give,
21:47that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
21:52and also that, by you,
21:54we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
21:58may pass our time in rest and quietness.
22:02through the merits of Jesus Christ,
22:05through the merits of Jesus Christ,
22:05our Saviour.
22:06Amen.
22:11Lighten our darkness,
22:13we beseech you, O Lord,
22:14and by your great mercy,
22:16defend us all
22:17from perils and dangers of this night.
22:21For the love of your only Son,
22:23our Saviour,
22:24Father Jesus Christ.
22:26Amen.
22:30Almighty God,
22:31who has given us grace at this time with one accord
22:35to make our common supplications to you,
22:38and promises that when two or three
22:41are gathered together in your name,
22:43you will grant their requests.
22:47Fulfill now, O Lord,
22:49the desires and petitions of your servants,
22:52as may be most beneficial for them,
22:56granting us in this world
22:58knowledge of your truth,
23:00and in the world to come
23:02life everlasting.
23:04Amen.
23:07With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
23:10and the love of God
23:11and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
23:13be with us all
23:15evermore.
23:17Amen.
