00:07hello there folks and a very warm welcome back to what's for tea happy sunday to you and i hope
00:14that
00:14i find you very well indeed and you've had a good week as well and thanks for coming over just
00:19to
00:19check out what i made this week for the family meals and if you're new here my name's cheryl
00:24we're a wee family from the west coast of sunny scotland it'd be lovely to see you back again so
00:30let me go and show you what we had this week starting all the way back on monday through till
00:35today which is sunday so on monday as you can see with very simple jacket potatoes we do like a
00:42baked
00:42potato from time to time and over the last couple of weeks there's just been so much just needed a
00:48bit of a breather so i've got some salad leaves there just with a wee bit of olive oil so
00:53it's
00:53just mixed salad that's a couple of jacket potatoes or baked potatoes in the middle these
00:59are the mccain potatoes which we love a wee bit of butter in the middle and when the butter melts
01:06is
01:06when i like to add my filling so a wee bit of lemon over the salad and we love tuna
01:12mayo or garlic mayo
01:14with a wee bit of sweet corn in there as well and then some black pepper on the top and
01:20then some
01:20parsley just to finish it off and add a much needed pop of green colour like i said very very
01:27simple
01:28very easy but very good for you and very filling as well and then moving on to tuesday we had
01:34chicken
01:35we haven't had too much chicken recently but for the lot of beef so yeah chicken is most welcomed so
01:42it's just my sort of a usual chicken dinner if you like so we've got some buttered cabbage so that's
01:49just steamed and then fried and a wee bit of butter and that's a mashed swede just at the back
01:55and then
01:55a wee ball of sage and onion stuffing a few ham and cheese potato croquettes that's a roast chicken
02:02breast just on the top and then some lovely warm chicken gravy as well and this is a lovely plate
02:09full again just so easy to do most of this gets done in the oven and then you just need
02:14to steam
02:14obviously the cabbage and the swede but it doesn't take long at all and then moving on to wednesday
02:20another very simple one and a break from the meat we do like to try and have a meat free
02:27day or two
02:28during the week so we would typically have some kind of pasta because it's just easy to do meat free
02:34and as you can see really really simple so it's just penny pasta and a green pesto with some black
02:41pepper
02:42on the top and then some grated cheddar as well and when the cheddar melts into that warm pesto pasta
02:49it's just lovely like i said ever so easy but again very filling and very tasty and then moving on
02:55to
02:55thursday one of our favorites is bangers and mash or sausages and mash and these wee sausages are from
03:02a local butcher they are just pork sausage links sometimes we get the beef but these ones are pork
03:09so we've got some creamy mashed potato on the side and these you know they are quite small and thin
03:14these sausages so we've got four of the pork sausage links and then some baked beans on the side and
03:21we
03:21love the combination of mashed potato and baked beans even on a jacket potato any kind of potatoes baked beans
03:28go so well together and then moving on to friday another meat free day so i made a lasagna just
03:36my usual
03:36lasagna but instead of using minced beef this was done using the corn mince and honestly see when
03:43you add the corn mince and with all of your other ingredients you will find it hard to tell the
03:49difference between a corn lasagna and a meat lasagna so i've got some salad and the corn so it's just
03:55lettuce tomato olive oil pepper very very simple some skinny fries as well and that's that lasagna
04:02just on the top and it was lovely i love chips for lasagna and a lot of folk will say
04:08you know how
04:09can you have chips with pasta but with lasagna it's just lovely i think it's the sauce you know
04:14it just goes so well with the chips and if you haven't tried it do give it a go and
04:20then moving on to
04:21yesterday i done a chicken curry and i have done a video recipe for this one so yeah this was
04:28lovely
04:28i made this one in the slow cooker using coconut milk so it was a wee bit more coconutty than
04:35my
04:35normal chicken takeaway style curries but it was lovely and i've used brown rice just for a change
04:41from our usual white rice trying to be a wee bit healthier using the brown rice i don't know if
04:47it
04:47is or if it's just got more fiber in it but yeah it just it's got such a nice texture
04:52it's a wee bit
04:53firmer than white rice but yeah just lovely and this was it here in the slow cooker just at the
04:59end of the cooking time and the smell off of anything made in the slow cooker is just lovely
05:06in my opinion and moving on to sunday it was individual pie day i just had a jacket potato with
05:14baked beans so nothing overly exciting but this is what mr what's for tea had he loves a wee pie
05:21i am
05:22trying to lay off my pies at the moment as much as i love them but this one was from
05:27the local butcher
05:28and their pies are just phenomenal anything from the local butcher is phenomenal so that's a chicken
05:35balmoral pie so it's chicken and a creamy white sauce with haggis on the top inside that pie and i'm
05:43thinking of doing a video recipe for a chicken balmoral pie we've got some roast potatoes at the top some
05:49garden peas and then some gravy there just to take the dryness of the potatoes and the peas and he
05:56thoroughly enjoyed this and i did say you know i might do a wee recipe on chicken balmoral pie i
06:03don't
06:03know if i just do the one big pie or do individual pies but yeah i am thinking of that
06:09so that was
06:09everything that we had this week so thank you so much for watching if you're still here and a huge
