00:06well hello there folks and a very warm welcome as usual back to what's for tea and our family
00:12meals for this week and i do hope that i find you very well indeed and thanks for coming over
00:17just
00:17to have a nosy to see what i've made this week and if you do like these kinds of videos
00:22please
00:22consider subscribing just before you go because i upload one of these every sunday and i have done
00:28now for about nine years so let me go and show you what we had this week as usual starting
00:34off on
00:34monday through till sunday so on monday we had fish and chips it's just one of those things
00:40that we absolutely love whether it's done by ourselves or whether it's bought from the fish
00:45and chip shop you know it really doesn't matter there's just something about the combination
00:49of fish and chips that we just love so these are the mccain home style chips which are lovely they're
00:55nice and chunky and just a wee bit of lettuce on the side for the health a bit of tomato
01:01some coleslaw
01:02and that's a tempura battered fish fillet as well with a wee couple of bits of lemon on the side
01:09and
01:09honestly it's ever so simple but just the the combination of everything that's there just works
01:15so well together so that was monday nice and easy and then moving on to tuesday we were actually out
01:22we went to a local italian we haven't been here for a wee while it's actually in the next town
01:28to us we've got a lovely italian in the town we stay in but we haven't been here for a
01:33while so
01:33mr what's for tea had the macaroni cheese and i decided to have the penny arabiata but you can add
01:40chicken so i added chicken to this so adds a couple of pounds onto it but yeah i just think
01:46it's lovely
01:46with the chicken just for a wee bit of protein mixed in there and it's penny pasta chili tomatoes
01:52mushroom garlic onions with the chicken and it's really really tasty and then mr what's for tea
01:59had the berry cheesecake which he said was really really nice and then i decided just to have their
02:06classic tiramisu this was not the best tiramisu in the world i have to say i don't know if it's
02:12home
02:12made or bought in i had that kind of bought in flavor you know i had this at washington
02:18last week or a few just maybe over a week ago and the difference it's like night and day because
02:24obviously they do or they did make their own tiramisu and you really can tell the difference
02:30this one was quite wet but it did have a lovely coffee flavor which i really like so here's just
02:37a
02:37quick look at the menu because i know lots of you like to see the menu what else is available
02:42you know
02:43what else do they do and get an idea of the prices and that kind of thing the prices in
02:47here aren't bad
02:48but as a very busy place this has been on the go for years and years and years it's been
02:53here they've
02:54got a few different locations but yeah just reliable you know you know what you're going to get when you
02:59come here like so we have been going here for quite a few years now but much prefer our local
03:04italian
03:05but you don't want to keep going back to the same place so you tend to try other places but
03:10when you
03:10do that you think okay i should have just gone to you know your usual place but it is nice
03:15to try
03:15somewhere different and then on wednesday one that i make most weeks i do some kind of curry you know
03:22whether it's a chicken curry a beef curry a chinese style curry or more of an indian style curry and
03:28i
03:28prefer a sort of chinese takeaway style curry so that's what we had on wednesday and of course a few
03:35chips on the side because who doesn't love chips and curry sauce so i've been using the brown
03:42microwavable rice you know just from sainsbury's it's just their own brand for the last while and
03:47honestly it goes beautifully with that chicken curry i used to just have white rice all the time but
03:54since i discovered the microwave brown rice i'm a complete convert now like i said with the chips
04:00and the chinese curry on the top with the onion sometimes i had peas this time it was just the
04:05onions and again just a lovely combination and if you've never tried chips and chinese style curry
04:12sauce you need to give it a go it's just lovely then moving on to thursday we had fish cakes
04:18and you
04:18will have seen these fish cakes if you watched my food unbagging or food shopping video the other day
04:25whatever you like to call it these were the melt in the middle cod fish cakes i think they are
04:30cod or
04:30they might be haddock it's the melt in the middle ones i'm pretty sure these ones are cod but anyway
04:35they are lovely so i've got a jacket potato on the side that's the melt in the middle fish cake
04:41i've got some steamed garden peas and i also made a cheese sauce for the top just to make it
04:46a wee bit
04:47saucier and take the dryness off the potato and the peas and yeah it was just lovely a nice wee
04:53combination again and just a wee bit different from normal like fish and potatoes or fish and chips
04:59you know it's just really nice and easy to put together and then moving on to friday another one
05:04that's very easy to put together are these sausage rolls and these are the greg's sausage rolls from
05:11iceland and mr what's for t loves these so he always has two of these i'm not that big but
05:17he's quite
05:17greedy so he likes to so i've got some creamy mashed potatoes some baked beans on the side
05:24a couple of those greg's sausage rolls as well just with a bit of pepper on the top and again
05:30just ever
05:31so easy to put together but just a classic combination of flavors and then moving on to
05:37saturday i made spaghetti bolognese one again i don't feel as though i've had for ages we've been
05:44loving pasta recently we don't usually have quite as much pasta as we have had over the last couple
05:51of weeks it's just been yeah we've been going past that daft but yeah you can just it's so versatile
05:56so we've got some garlic bread on the side some lovely spaghetti this is the thicker than normal
06:03spaghetti so it's got a lovely texture it's a bronze dye pasta so it holds on to the sauce really
06:10well
06:10as well and just my standard bolognese sauce with some grated parmesan on the top and a wee bit of
06:17parsley as well just to liven the color up just a tad and i thoroughly enjoyed that one and then
06:25moving
06:25on to today we had cumberland pie another one we haven't had for quite a wee while so i said
06:31i think
06:32i'll do the cumberland pie i was going to do shepherd's pie which is very similar but this is a
06:37cumberland pie
06:38so these are just wee individual serves and i like to get the individual dishes out for this
06:43it just makes it look a wee bit more presentable on the plate otherwise it just slopes everywhere so
06:49i've got the cumberland pie on the side and i also made some sweet so i just boil mine drain
06:55the water
06:56away mash it down really well and add a knob of butter and a wee bit of salt and white
07:02pepper as well
07:03and it's lovely and creamy so that was everything that we had this week so thank you so much for
