00:13well hello there folks and a very happy new year to you so welcome back to what's for tea it's
00:19lovely to see you all again and i hope 2026 is very kind to you all of this is the
00:25first time
00:25that you're joining me in the new year and it is the very first meals of the week in the
00:30new year
00:30so thank you to you all for all your support and everything that you do so as usual we'll start
00:35off
00:35on monday all the way through here till sunday and if i've done a video on anything that you see
00:41here
00:41as usual i will leave it down below so as you can see on monday we had smoked haddock i
00:47don't feel
00:48as though we've had fish like this for quite a wee while we normally have fish and batter you know
00:53with chips and peas at the side but actual fish like this not for a wee while i don't think
00:58so
00:58i've got some mini roast potatoes on the side some steamed carrots as well and you will see lots of
01:04carrots this week just because i've got to use them up and then a couple of slices of smoked haddock
01:10loin and that's a lovely smoky cheese sauce just to complement the smoky fish and this was lovely
01:17thoroughly enjoyed this this was mr what's for teas i didn't have as much fish as this but it
01:23was lovely just a wee bit of pepper on the top and then moving on to tuesday you will have
01:28seen
01:28this already if you watch my video recipe for this week and it was the lovely creamy cajun penny pasta
01:35done in the slow cooker and this was absolutely delicious extremely rich but beautiful flavor
01:42i do recommend giving this one a go if you do like a nice smoky spicy cheesy flavor profile it
01:50was just
01:51fabulous like i said done with the penny pasta but you could really use any pasta that you like as
01:57long
01:57as it's maybe hollow or a shell you know something like that i wouldn't use spaghetti or linguine it
02:02might be too heavy but something like penny is ideal and this was it here in the slow cooker just
02:09at the
02:09end of the cooking time yeah it was just fab and then moving on to wednesday it was new year's
02:14eve
02:15so because there's going to be lots of meat this week we did have a couple of meat free days
02:20so this
02:20was one of the meat free days and this was using the richmond meat free quarter pounder and we
02:27thoroughly enjoyed these as well they had a lovely flavor you know for being meat free so we've got a
02:33brioche bun and i forgot to get mayonnaise so i put some cheese spread on the bread just to take
02:39the
02:39dryness off and it works well with the grated cheese actually so i've got the salad and some
02:45baby tomatoes grated cheddar and then another of the burgers and then the top of the bun i only had
02:51one burger and then a wee basket of the mccain skinny french fries and then i had some sweet corn
02:57in the
02:57middle or buttered corn in the cob just with a wee bit of pepper on there and then some more
03:02grated
03:03cheddar on top of the chips just because i had some leftover grated cheese so i just put that on
03:08top of
03:08the chips instead of throwing it out and then moving on to thursday it was new year's day so
03:13it's tradition here you got to have a steak pie on new year's day and i make my own steak
03:19pies from
03:19time to time but it's got to be a butcher steak pie on new year's day i think everyone across
03:25the
03:25country has a steak pie in one form or another unless of course you're a veggie or vegan and then
03:31you'd probably have something else so we've got some cheesy potato croquettes some mashed buttery
03:37sweet some red cabbage with red currant jelly some very creamy mashed potato and that's the stew and
03:43gravy at the side with a puff pastry on the top and this was a wonderful plate of food quite
03:50a lot
03:50going on there didn't manage it all but had a good go at it anyway yeah just lovely i think
03:56a good steak
03:57pie is really hard to beat you know especially a butcher steak pie and then moving on to friday i
04:03got
04:03slow cooker out again and i done slow cooker beef so this is beef silverside you know more
04:10traditionally roast in the oven but i love beef done in the slow cooker for hours it just falls apart
04:16and it's actually quite difficult to slice into slices because it's so tender so i got some baby
04:22potatoes with parsley butter some more of those carrots some broccoli a wee yorkshire pudding and a
04:29couple of pieces of that slow cooker beef and then just some of the cooking juices over the top i'm
04:35just going to call gravy but it's not really gravy it's very watery simply because it's just the
04:40cooking juices from the slow cooker but delicious nonetheless so yeah i'm trying to use up these carrots
04:46so apologies you know for the multiple appearances of carrots then moving on to yesterday it was another
04:53meat free day like i said we did have we have had quite a lot of meat the last couple
04:59of weeks so
05:00we do like to try and have a couple of meat free days just to sort of balance it out
05:05a wee bit so
05:06we've got some creamy mashed potato with parsley these are the richmond meat free sausages which i really
05:12like anyway i think they've got a lovely flavor and texture i've actually got vegetarian friends that
05:17don't like these because they are too close to being meaty if that makes any sense so yet they are
05:23really good and i made an onion gravy for over the top and just some peas and sweet corn at
05:29the side
05:30mr what's for t had baked beans and no gravy can you imagine and then moving on to today again
05:36we had more
05:37beef so we had beef olives which i love and lots of people ask you know what are beef olives
05:44you can get
05:45them in a couple of different ways but these ones are sausage meat wrapped up in a very thin steak
05:51which i like to casserole but you can fry them as well we've got a jacket potato with a wee
05:56bit of
05:56butter on the side and then the last of the the last of the carrots so i like to do
06:03my beef olives in the
06:04oven in a casserole with onion carrots and gravy and then some garden peas on the side and these are
06:11the
06:11beef olives from the casserole and then just an extra wee bit of gravy inside that potato just to
06:17take off the dryness a wee bit and this was lovely as well the flavor of the gravy that these
06:23things
06:23produce is unreal because you can imagine obviously the sausage meat and the steak and the it produces
06:29such a nice gravy i add a wee bit of oxo as well and with my water and just put
06:34it into the oven with the onion
06:36oh it's just lovely i think a lot of people like beef olives actually they're very popular you can get
06:41them in most places and in the butcher as well so thank you so much for watching if you're still
06:47here
