00:00I've heard, I've heard from people, you know, around Chador that he's actually dealing with a blister issue right now.
00:05People aren't being sensitive enough to the blister issue that he has on his hand at the current moment.
00:09Yeah.
00:09Yeah, that's what I'm telling you, it's what it is.
00:11So, like, there's a blister on his finger at the moment.
00:13I mean, we watched the man basically get degloved in the game against the Bears and still go out there
00:17and try to play through it all.
00:18He's just a gamer.
00:19He's a gamer.
00:20Yeah, the ball's not going to be a perfect tight spiral when you have a blister on your throwing hand
00:24on one of your fingers.
00:25That's the reality of it.
00:26I just think it's a ridiculous conversation to have.
00:29He's still out there grinding.
00:30He's still out locating passes where they need to be.
00:32I just, I, this feels like sports talk radio.
00:36The criticisms of Chador feels like sports talk radio from 10 years ago before, like, you know, everybody started communicating
00:42about football.
00:43There's like five guys in the NFL that throw dots on every play that are perfectly the sexiest passes you've
00:50ever seen.
00:50And I have to give Lima a lot of credit here.
00:53This is, this will not end in a shot.
00:54Okay.
00:55Lima making fun of calling one play a dime.
00:59Yeah.
01:00Has allowed people to go, yeah, does Chador even throw the good football?
01:03And it's like, you guys, we've seen it.
01:05Like, I, if you want to say, I don't know if, if Dylan Gabriel has the arm strength guys, I
01:11haven't seen it in an NFL game to say that he's got the subsequent arm strength.
01:15Like, Chador, we've seen it.
01:16We just need to see him consistently on the other things, not the arm strength thing.
01:20Good point by you.
01:21Also, though, the idea that for as many people that call thing, call passes a dime, and I guess we
01:27can criticize that, just as many, if not more, are quick to be like, that's a duck.
01:31Yeah.
01:32Wounded duck of a pass.
01:33What a duck of a, and it's like, shut up, guys.
01:35Like, if we're going to go after the people that say dime too often, I want to start going after
01:38the people that just call it a duck.
01:40So my favorite part about that is we did have somebody, we had a caller, not a caller, we had
01:44a listener of the station tweet at me like, oh, is this a Chador?
01:48And if you actually slow the video down and actually watch the throw, and it ended up being a very
01:53nice throw by Chador.
01:54A very nice throw.
01:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:55But it's interesting.
01:56It's probably right on target.
01:57Like, sure, cadence.
01:58I have no idea what Chador's cadence is and whether he's good operationally.
02:03Right?
02:04Again, I am inclined to trust Todd Munkin on that stuff, even though my baggage of Kevin Stefanski's generalized ass
02:11the last six years made me naturally suspicious of that being a way to just shoehorn whatever the hell you
02:16want to have happen.
02:17But I'm trying to trust in Todd.
02:19That's a new shirt we're working on.
02:20I heard that's a big deal for you guys.
02:22Now, did Pannon said he liked it, and then five minutes later said he didn't like it?
02:26I'm sorry.
02:27I think he settled on he didn't like it.
02:28Oh, that's too bad.
02:29That's too bad.
02:29He should flip-flop more.
02:32But I also got him with a great joke.
02:34I was like, hey, those are really nice kicks there.
02:36And he was like, oh, they're kind of my, you know, they're just general white guy shoes.
02:41And I was like, well, I just figured that your favorite foot apparel would be flip-flops.
02:47And, yeah, felt right for it.
02:49It felt good.
02:50But getting back to Chador and getting back to.
02:53You like that gif of the flip-flops on the beach.
02:56Oh, I do.
02:56Anytime it feels like somebody is going in that direction.
02:58You should just send that to Pannon right now.
03:01You know what I am?
03:01Actually, in the break.
03:03Now, the question is, because I've learned, this is how Nick Wilson has evolved.
03:08I used to just tweet everything.
03:10Yeah.
03:10And thinking, oh, they know me.
03:12It's fine.
03:13Turns out that's not the case.
03:15And a lot of the people on the internet don't know what's going on.
03:16It pissed off a lot of people in this business.
03:18Sure.
03:19So now I'm trying to be discretionary.
03:21Is this a tweet or is this a text?
03:24It's a text.
03:25I think Pannon with Padone.
03:26He cares too much about his online presence.
03:28He's the type of person that...
03:30That's what would make it funny if I tweeted it.
03:33I feel like a lot of things just roll off his back.
03:35I think he's good at that.
03:36But also, if something were to agitate him, maybe that would be that.
03:39But also, again, who cares?
03:40You don't care about agitating Nick.
03:42That is fair.
03:43I really don't.
03:44All right.
03:44You should tweet it out then.
03:45Go right out.
03:462-1-6-4-7-4-0-9-2.
03:48At Nick Wilson says, at J. Peterlin on social media.
03:50Social media reactions are on X.
03:52Powered by Scheiben Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
03:56Should I tweet the flip-flop gif to Nick Padone or should I text it?
04:01What is the more honorable...
04:02No, no, no.
04:03What's the more fun thing to do?
04:04Who cares about honorable?
04:06Now, speaking of honorable, I guess, the quarterback situation.
04:10There's ambiguity.
04:11Woody, Deshaun appears to be the leader in the clubhouse, I guess.
04:16And Zach Jackson was on with him on him, boys, today.
04:19And when he wasn't hearing Jeff Phelps record things in another studio,
04:24he was breaking down where he stands with the quarterback spot,
04:28including who he sees starting more games for the Browns this year.
04:32It's not the end of the world at all.
04:34And my gut feeling, again, right now, more than four weeks before they play a game,
04:38is that Shadwar Sanders will not start the season,
04:41but he will start the most amount of games.
04:43That's how I see this going.
04:46All right.
04:46That was very succinct.
04:48And the reason, by the way, the reason that is succinct,
04:50I'm not going to take a shot at Mac on his last day, at least not that shot,
04:53is because right after there, there was Jeff Phelps' audio bleeding
04:57into the main transmission, which is fine.
04:59However, I think it's really, really interesting, this kind of push and pull
05:05of starting week one versus starting the most games in what would matter most
05:10to, like, the tried and true, the day one OG Shadwar fans.
05:15Mm-hmm.
05:17So what's interesting about it to me is the idea that if you're thinking about Shadwar
05:22and what is obviously best for him long term, if he starts and then has to give up the job,
05:28he's cooked.
05:29Mm-hmm.
05:29So, like, what part of this equation comes into play where you think to yourself,
05:33well, no, the most amount of games is what matters the most,
05:36and if he starts off second, then he's going to be fine.
05:38No, in theory, if he gets the starting job to begin with, he never gives up the starting job.
05:42That's what's obviously best for him.
05:44Like, if you get to a spot where he gives up the – he gets the starting job
05:48and then week seven they have to go to Deshaun Watson, then it's a failure.
05:51The whole thing is a failure.
05:52Yeah, entry point is such a big thing for this.
05:56And this idea that it's in Shadwar's best interest to not start week one
06:01but somehow still start the most amount of games, if you start week one,
06:06the perception is going to be you didn't win over that locker room, you didn't win that job,
06:10so when they do go to you, oh, well, they're giving up because they've got to see what they have
06:15in Shadwar.
06:15That is a general perception around the NFL all the time.
06:18Okay, so here's what the comment that Zach says, what it shows to me.
06:22It shows to me that there's a lot of people out there that believe that starting Shadwar
06:25Sanders is the better call than starting Deshaun Watson.
06:28What they don't believe, though, is that Todd Munkin is going to give it to a second-year pro.
06:32Clearly, that's what – people like Zach that are there every day
06:35and people like myself that have now been around Todd Munkin and we've seen this,
06:39I think we're just starting to believe that Munkin cares about whether or not a veteran
06:44gets the first crack at it, whether or not that veteran actually is the best option for this team.
06:50Now, someone like Coach Riz will go back on the idea of Deshaun Watson gives you the best chance
06:53to start in Jacksonville week one.
06:55It doesn't mean he gives you the best chance to start in week eight necessarily,
06:58but in week one, because he's a veteran, he gives you the best chance.
07:01I just flatly disagree with that statement, though.
07:04Yeah, I mean, I just – and I think you commented on this as well,
07:08what transpired from like Wednesday of last week on where it just felt like everybody
07:14wanted to fall back on their Deshaun takes of, oh, clearly it's been Deshaun this whole time.
07:19It's like even Thursday when we were out here, Deshaun had a nice practice.
07:25Shadour was still the better quarterback.
07:26He was still making better plays.
07:28Yeah, and it's funny about that.
07:29What happened here?
07:30Nick, on Tuesday we watched one of the worst practices we've ever seen from Deshaun Watson.
07:34We both left saying he's unplayable based off of what we saw on Tuesday.
07:37On Wednesday he looked better.
07:39Thursday I got in a plane and went to Kansas City, was gone for four days,
07:42still watching things from a distance, gone for four days, though.
07:45So come back on Monday and everyone's convinced it's all just over.
07:49Well, we're talking about Todd Munkin and the handling of the quarterback position.
07:53Yeah.
07:54Yesterday ended with apparently the worst two-minute drive in the history of operational things in football.
08:01And Todd Munkin, you know, patted himself on the chest and said, you know what, I own some of that.
08:06Yeah, not good.
08:08I got hijacked.
08:09I mean, we did such a good job on Saturday cadence-wise, and then at the end of two minutes
08:16just couldn't get out of our own way.
08:18Well, I did a poor job of working through it, tried to continue with cadence just to, you know,
08:24force them in the moment to overcome a little bit of a setback in the drive, but we're certainly not
08:32there yet.
08:33I said it to the offense.
08:34I said it to those guys.
08:36I told them that in that moment, you know, what I should have done and what I didn't do.
08:42And that, as I've said to them and us, I mean, we're human.
08:46You know, I got fired up.
08:48I was pissed.
08:49And that was awful.
08:51That was shitty football.
08:52And that is going to get me fired up.
08:55And I have to own some of that.
08:56Obviously, we haven't coached it well enough.
08:59There were other aspects about the two-minute that got me fired up that obviously was a reflection of coaching.
09:04I mean, those things, we're getting plenty of effort.
09:08You guys are fighting their rear ends up.
09:09We're tough.
09:10So we got that.
09:11Okay, well, how are we going to do the little things well?
09:13And that's coaching.
09:14That's me.
09:15And that's our staff.
09:17So I thought it was interesting because the phrase emotionally hijacked the moment.
09:22Yeah.
09:23It's interesting.
09:24Like, I kind of heard this and I'm like, no, no, no.
09:26That's the right time.
09:27Like, I know he's taking ownership here and going, hey, I think I didn't handle this the right way.
09:32You know, if you're still worried about cadence and pre-snap stuff three weeks into practice, this is the time
09:38to lose your mind.
09:38And hopefully it imparts on the players like it's bleep or get off the pot time.
09:43I hope the big realization that he had was when you have three procedural penalties when Shador Sanders is there.
09:48And then Deshaun Watson had two procedural penalties and then another infraction on top of that.
09:53Like, there's clearly something that you're not teaching that's getting – it's not going through to them.
09:57Like I said, there's a lapse there.
10:01Something's being missed.
10:02And so I think he's frustrated that maybe there's an understanding that he's asking them to do way too much
10:09right now relative to what they're able to actually pull off.
10:12Maybe that's the acknowledgement that has to happen here.
10:14But I agree with you.
10:15Like, now is the time to lose your mind.
10:16If you want to lose your mind – I never think it's bad when a coach goes crazy on the
10:20sidelines either, though.
10:21It's kind of like us in this job.
10:22We can yell and lose our mind.
10:24Guess what?
10:25Not the end of the world.
10:26Can we do it off the air?
10:27It's probably not the greatest thing in the world.
10:28Like, there's time and a place.
10:30As a head football coach, you can get emotionally hijacked and it not be the end of the world.
10:34Well, and here's the thing.
10:36You know, ever since Saturday, people have just gone out of their way to try and whack the Todd Munkin
10:42piñata.
10:43Even him explaining what happened on Monday and saying, I don't – you know, I can just lie to you
10:49guys.
10:50I don't owe you the truth.
10:51I didn't – I just kind of took all of the things that happened this weekend in stride.
10:55And it's like, you know, at some point you do have to come back to the realization of this is
11:01a quarterback battle of Deshaun Watson versus Shador Sanders.
11:05And half of Cleveland doesn't believe in one half of this room.
11:08So, there's a part of this where it's like, even though I think Shador can be a good league average
11:15starter, maybe something more,
11:16I think you think he can be a quality player in this league as well.
11:20I'm also not going to sit here and every time something happens that I don't like, I just go to
11:26the coach is a dumbass rule.
11:27No, but I did wonder when the first time we were going to get some criticism of Munkin was.
11:31When the first time we were going to really look around and instead of people defending him, people looking and
11:35saying,
11:35Ooh, is this the guy I really want to be defending? That's what Saturday and then Monday kind of felt
11:40like.
11:41That was a one-two punch of criticism that Munkin had not yet had.
11:45The honeymoon is clearly over with the fan base.
11:47And I guess to anyone who agrees with you or feels like, all right, the honeymoon is over, my rebuttal
11:53is not on this.
11:55You want to have something better?
11:57There are going to be so many more valid things to really start criticizing Todd Munkin on.
12:02I mean, at the very least, listen, I don't know if you think this team is going to be a
12:06five-win team or less.
12:07If you think it's all about 2027 and when Todd Munkin loses 12 games this year, you shout, fire Munkin.
12:14I'm here to tell you you're part of the problem.
12:16There has to be some self-awareness.
12:18Sure, and here's why I'm not mad.
12:20I'm not mad at Munkin because ultimately if he would have called the race and said,
12:24Okay, Deshaun's the winner.
12:26Okay, even Chador's the winner.
12:27I probably would have said, Okay, the thing wasn't real.
12:29It wasn't real to begin with.
12:30And I didn't want that.
12:31I wanted it to be real.
12:32I want it at least to feel like it's real.
12:34I think about the reaction right now.
12:35We'll get into it later on, obviously.
12:36But the Vikings today, in naming Kyler Murray their starting quarterback,
12:41what universally was the reaction from the football world?
12:43Of course.
12:44Of course.
12:45So, okay, so the deal was when Kyler Murray signed there,
12:48he was obviously promised to be named the starting quarterback.
12:52Like, that's how early this is all happening for everybody.
12:54And I get it.
12:55We want a resolution.
12:56We want this thing solved.
12:57But if you're going to have a real quarterback competition, it's not set to be called on August 9th, August
13:0210th, August 11th.
13:03This thing really has started to remind me of the LeBron thing, where for like the first 10 days, we're
13:09all in the vibes.
13:10And this is what we want.
13:11And we talked about the game.
13:12It reminds you of the LeBron thing because Ken is also tired of this the same way he was tired
13:16of the LeBron thing.
13:17What will he not be tired of?
13:18I'm not sure.
13:19That wasn't the only one I was thinking of because there have been a couple media members that have come
13:23out and said it's time to name the starter.
13:26And it's like, oh, I understand that it would be great if somebody had already been evidently ahead of it.
13:32But it's like Todd Munkin can't force it.
13:35The worst thing he can do is call it prematurely.
13:38Because I think that's a way you lose a locker room just as quickly as if you just make the
13:43wrong call altogether.
13:44Yeah, no question.
13:45He's got to go through the process of all this.
13:48And even if he did feel like one quarterback was significantly better than the other, you've still got to see
13:53what happens in these preseason games.
13:54You've still got to see what happens in the joint practices.
13:57There's so much you can still learn and see.
14:00And we're just now hitting the point, by the way, where people like Coach Riz that study this and know
14:04this stuff are like, yeah, we're getting now to the spot where you can actually start to dictate what can
14:10happen, what can't happen with these quarterbacks.
14:12I do like that now we're in like, it feels like we're in like a documentary about like the Odyssey
14:19or about Troy or something like that, ancient Greece, with the way people foretell what's going on right now.
14:25More sirens conversations?
14:26Well, I'll never have enough sirens conversations.
14:30Provided, and we've agreed on this as a show, that they're more the bird creature and less the mermaid creature.
14:35Whatever it is, I need Adam to be the play-by-play guy.
14:38Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:38And we've got to get that push going.
14:40Yeah, no, I think so.
14:41And here's the thing.
14:42I want to know how we can be as lackeys.
14:45You know what I mean?
14:45I don't want to be a lackey for a WNBA play-by-play guy.
14:48Oh, no, no, no.
14:48What I mean by it is we somehow get some of the financial runoff that he gets there without doing
14:56any of the engineering, any of the, you know.
14:58So he can be the play-by-play guy?
15:00We jockey for the pre and post of the WNBA games?
15:02I would like to just, I would like to do like the Jim Rosenhaus.
15:06Yeah.
15:06And I know Rosie has another job.
15:08I don't want to do the other job.
15:10So we'll take like a three-minute stretch in the third quarter?
15:13Yes.
15:13And I'm just, but I just come in, and I'm not going to talk about the game.
15:17That's not what I'm, it's the Nick Wilson show, quite frankly.
15:19Yeah.
15:20But within the confines of the game.
15:21They changed the graphics, actually.
15:22Yeah.
15:22It becomes the Cleveland Nick Wilsons.
15:24Now, if something cool happens in the game, I'll react to it.
15:28But it's play-by-play nonsense.
15:31That's Adam's job.
15:32It's just you reading over like your grocery list for the day, what you're going to buy
15:37later on for dinner that night.
15:38It's me talking about what an effortless first pitch I had at the Lakey Creek Crushers game
15:43two years ago.
15:45216-474-0092.
15:47Want to hear from you guys on this.
15:49You heard from Todd Munkin.
15:50He owns that.
15:52Actually, he didn't say that because he actually owned what he said.
