00:00No point in time would we ever be comfortable with the level of crime that exists,
00:05but we are adapting and we are rolling out new ideas and new strategies to treat with the situations as they arise.
00:11These murders have occurred during the present state of emergency, which comes to an end on October 28th.
00:18Questioned as to whether there would be an extension, the police commissioner said he does not have the final say in the matter.
00:25Do you think you will be asking for an extension?
00:29If I am called, I will present data to the government and they would make a decision.
00:33Do you see that it should be extended at this time?
00:37When I present the data to them, they will make that decision.
00:39As to constant drone drops at the maximum security prison, he said his officers are working.
00:46The TTPS has begun to adapt to the situation and within the past two weeks,
00:50we have seen two arrests of two different persons and persons on different occasions
00:55and the seizure of a lot of contraband material that was destined for inside of the prison,
01:01along with simultaneous exercises inside of the prison.
01:04So we have adapted and we are now rolling out new strategies to treat with them.
01:08He, however, heaped praise on the heads of police in Tobago
01:11for keeping the number of murders down from 26 in 2024 to six at present.
01:18I use the word phenomenal, and you see they're standing behind me here.
01:22Correction, it's not five murders, it's six, and four of them have been solved already.
01:26And I have tasked them to ensure that we solve the other two to have a hundred percent
01:29solve rate for the end of the year.
01:31And it's a big ask, but at the time I know the gentlemen and the ladies standing before me
01:36or the back of me, they have the situation well under control.
01:40And all the places that I have visited today have heaped praises on the TTPS
01:45and its efforts in Tobago division.
01:47And I would also like to add the same. Kudos to them.
01:49What do you want to tell the people of Tobago as police commissioner?
01:53Get on board with the TTPS.
01:55The police commissioner paid courtesy calls on the chief secretary,
01:59Farley-Augustin, minority leader, Kelvon Morris,
02:02members of the Tobago chamber and visited all police stations across Tobago.
