00:02and talked about what the quarterback competition comes down to.
00:06It really is going to come down to who is going to give them the best chance to win.
00:10And it's going to be difficult to figure that out
00:12because until the lights are on, until you're getting sacked and hit
00:17and having to read the defenses and do all of those kinds of things in a live game,
00:21it's going to be really tricky to determine who gives them the best chance to win.
00:25But I think it's going to be an incredibly, incredibly lively training camp.
00:28I think it's going to be a very heated battle.
00:31I think you can see that the stakes are really high.
00:34These guys are already going all out in their summer break to prove that they want this job.
00:40Deshaun comes back into town, and before you know it,
00:43Shador comes back too, and they're battling it out.
00:45So it's going to be intense.
00:47It's going to be heated, and let the best man win.
00:50So I think, as Mary-Kate was saying this today, while on the morning show,
00:54I realized we might go right from the, when the hell is LeBron going to make his decision,
01:00and the frustration behind that for Cleveland fans, right into, when is Todd Munkin going to make his decision?
01:07Because I don't think people are prepared for an elongated quarterback battle,
01:11and that is my expectation.
01:13Oh, how far are you thinking this is going to go?
01:15Like, if this goes into the second week of practices, or sorry, if this doesn't go into the second week
01:21of practices,
01:22and I'm talking about with pads on, I'm going to think to myself, this was not a fair fight.
01:26Like, this was a rigged thing for the beginning.
01:28I think most people would agree with that, but if you, I mean, we're getting into,
01:32how many preseason games are we having?
01:34How many matchups with other teams are we having?
01:37Or even just the Tuesday, Wednesday, we're going to see other teams at their facilities.
01:41How many of those are we going to have?
01:43So I could envision a scenario where we see the Ones play early in the preseason,
01:49and Deshaun gets a game with the Ones, and Shador gets a game with the Ones.
01:53I don't know if that's what it's going to take, but that's what I'm prepared for.
01:56And then anything short of that will be kind of like a, oh, okay, that didn't drag on forever.
02:02I mean, because Munkin at one point did tease the idea of,
02:04I got as much time as I need right up until the first game.
02:08And it was kind of just like a, I think he was saying it because he's annoyed about being asked
02:12the question so many times,
02:13which, by the way, Todd, this is like, you had to have known this was half the gig.
02:17You had to have known half the gig is telling everyone what's going on with the quarterback stuff.
02:22But if it's announced before a preseason game even gets played,
02:28or even before they go and meet up with other teams, I'd be shocked.

02:33I really wouldn't be surprised if Todd tries to string this out to week one,
02:38thinking there's a competitive advantage there.
02:40I just would not be surprised if he makes his decision up at some point early August.
02:46Yeah, he might be major in the minor if you think that's going to be the ace up your sleeve.
02:50I mean, I think coaches do this kind of stuff.
02:52The competitive, like, I don't believe in it,
02:55but coaches play these games all the time with each other.
02:58And I'm even, like, week to week, not kind of leaking out injury news.
03:02Like, all that stuff is something that a lot of coaches believe in.
03:05I don't know, Munkin does, but could I see him play in that game?

03:09At some point, though, if you've got somebody that you're leaning towards,
03:12it's better to, and maybe this is how we'll know it without knowing it,
03:14is he's going to give the majority of the number one reps to somebody.
03:18And that's going to be the tell.
03:19That'll be the sign.
03:20Because if it's not, if you've got your decision made up,
03:23there's no point of splitting the ups evenly
03:26because you think you've got a game one advantage there.

05:24Like, why, why, why did you just do the spring practices the way that you had him set up?
05:27Why did you have poor Deshaun Watson hosting wide receivers in Florida and putting together camps is what I would

05:33Also, do we have coach to blame for the fact that Dylan Gabriel's name has been uttered a lot in
05:38the last 24 hours?

05:47All I'll say is, Dylan Gabriel, to me this year, if he's even on the roster, is this year Shador

05:55Is there a way in which I can envision Dylan Gabriel seeing the field for the Browns this year?

06:03If he makes this roster, if he's part of this program here, I can see a scenario where at the
06:07very end of the season,
06:09you're in the running for a number one pick and you go, let's give Dylan Gabriel four games,
06:15in the same vein of the Deshaun thing.
06:17Yeah, you got to see what you got on the field until you're going to make your next decision, right?
06:22That's the only way.
06:23In terms of being in the quarterback, I would be, he's going to be thrown to accountants for most of
06:28camp.
06:29At least that's the way I think he's going to be treated.
06:30Yeah, he'll be the one having to go to John Carroll to find ball boys to throw to and everyone
06:34else under the sun.
06:35And that's okay.
06:37I've made peace with that.
06:38Coach just believes Dylan Gabriel is much better than people think.
06:42And I think a lot of that comes from Dylan Gabriel's college tape and coach wondering where it all went
06:46wrong
06:47and how you went from some of the throws he made in college to just not existing in the pros.
06:51And listen, I would blame Stefanski for some of that.
06:54I don't think Dylan Gabriel is on an island for why he only threw the ball five yards every single
06:58time he had a chance to throw the ball.
07:00And we did watch him in college.
07:01He could push the ball down the field.
07:03It just went away.
07:04So if I'm going to use the property, if I think Todd Munkin is going to put Shador and Deshaun,
07:10if either guy can play, he's going to put them in a position to be their best selves.
07:14If I have to say that about those two quarterbacks, I've got to say it about Dylan Gabriel,
07:20even if I don't believe in Dylan Gabriel at all.
07:23I think that's fair.

07:25Again, we wouldn't bet on Dylan Gabriel making any part of this competitive with anybody's money at all.

07:33But I do think it's fair to wonder how badly Stefanski hurt Dylan Gabriel.
07:38The most dubious rankings I can come up with right now are rank the Browns quarterbacks in how much you
07:47think it's likely they actually make any sort of impact in 2026.
07:51I can conveniently say, not convincingly say, Shador first, and then it goes a long drop, and then Deshaun, and
08:01then it's a longer drop, and then Dylan.

08:25sudden you bench Shador, or you bench Deshaun, and then Shador gets injured,
08:28and they can't be out there for the final two weeks of the season, I'd much rather see green than
08:33I would Dylan Gabriel.
08:34I'll have to make that deal with the devil when I get there.
