Brandon Aiyuk might have taken his social media antics too far by going after Jayden Daniels in his attempt to eventually join the Washington Commanders. Kevin Sheehan discusses the recent Instagram posts from Aiyuk, which seemingly call out Daniels, and potentially burn a bridge.

00:00Probably gonna take me to talk about something.
00:02You on my team now.
00:04You follow my rules.
00:08Boy, I'm a grown-ass man, boy.
00:12You gonna have to stop running behind your mama,
00:14and I might believe what you're talking about.
00:16But until then, mm-mm.
00:21Guess who?
00:23Brandon Ayuk from over the weekend.
00:27I wanted to read this to kind of kick off this segment
00:30because this one was just a bit off,
00:35but he wasn't the only one that wrote something similar to me.
00:39Over the last week or so, Perry wrote the following.
00:42I've been a listener forever, but I've never called or written until now.
00:46You're ahead of your skis on Ayuk.
00:49He's never been in any real trouble, and his 49ers teammates liked him.
00:53These videos haven't hurt anyone, and yet you're comparing him to real NFL bad guys.
01:00That's not happened.
01:02Hopefully, Adam Peters sees it the same way.
01:06So, Perry, let me just start with this.
01:08I have not compared him to other much more serious NFL transgressions, player transgressions.
01:17This isn't domestic violence.
01:19I've gone out of my way to say even the traffic violation was that that's not domestic violence.
01:24This isn't robbery or kidnapping like the dude in Detroit, Terry and Arnold, has been accused of.
01:30It's, of course, not any of those things.
01:33And I've emphasized that what he's doing isn't any of the, you know, real NFL bad guy stuff.
01:40So, listen better, Perry, because I've gone out of my way to compare him, to not compare him, excuse me,
01:48to guys that have either committed felonies or have allegedly committed felonies.
01:53That's not this.
01:54The saga with him isn't that.
01:57But it is something different, and it's worthy of discussion for any NFL fan, let alone fans of the teams
02:09most closely attached to this weird saga.
02:12The teams that play in San Francisco and in Washington.
02:17The team that he's currently employed by and the team that he so desperately wants to be employed by.
02:26See, with him, you know, you just have to point out the obvious, okay?
02:32First, the obvious.
02:33He's sensitive.
02:34He's immature.
02:36That's obvious to anybody with any level of emotional intelligence.
02:40Doesn't take much to identify he's sensitive and immature.
02:45By the way, that's the nice way of describing these social media videos over the last month.
02:52You know, a video series primarily focused on attacking his employer over and over again while taking no action himself
03:02to affect the outcome he claims to desire.
03:06His feelings are hurt, he's angry, and he's lashed out with nothing but words.
03:11No actions.
03:12Zero action.
03:13He's all talk at this point.
03:16It's the definition of immature or worse.
03:20Secondly, and more importantly, he is self-destructive.
03:25He's already cost himself 30-plus million dollars in guaranteed money because he didn't show up to have his knee
03:35looked at once or twice a month by his employer who paid him that money.
03:40I think even the most supportive Brandon Aiyu people out there would say that he's self-destructive.
03:54That's, like, not debatable at this point.
03:5730-plus million dollars voided with no fight.
04:02That much guaranteed money has never been taken away from a player in a sport that protects players with one
04:11of the strongest unions in the history of sports.
04:14And they didn't even put up a fight, nor did he.
04:17So far, anyway.
04:21He videotaped himself breaking the law and posted it on social media.
04:28Let me repeat for emphasis.
04:29He videotaped himself going in excess of 100 miles per hour around Levi's Stadium, where the speed limit was 25,
04:37and then put that video on social media, which resulted in an arrest warrant being issued, which he's now, at
04:46least according to one of his videos, one of his many videos late last week, he's ducking that arrest.
04:50He didn't commit a felony.
04:53The arrest warrant was a misdemeanor.
04:55I understand that.
04:56But I think the nicest way to describe this is self-destructive behavior.
05:02The nicest because you could definitely describe it as just a lack of intelligence.
05:11Immaturity and self-destructive behavior are not standalone or in combination disqualifiers from the NFL.
05:18Of course not.
05:20If they were, you wouldn't have complete rosters in the NFL.
05:24But they are two things that you attach to, let's say, if you're putting a pros-cons list together on
05:31IU.
05:32You attach it to the cons list, you know, if you're thinking about signing him.
05:37Like the pros list at this point, right?
05:40If you're doing a pros-cons list on signing IU.
05:44The pros list, let's just say for our team, Washington, at this point, includes he's talented.
05:50And, oh, by the way, we need another talented playmaker on offense.
05:56That's the pros list.
05:58I can't think of anything else.
06:00He's talented, and we need somebody like him.
06:03We are deficient of talents like him on the offensive side of the ball.
06:08That's the pros list.
06:09The cons list, he's immature, he's self-destructive, he's overly sensitive to the point where if he faces some adversity
06:17in the relationship that he has with your team,
06:20and there's even a chance that he can blame some of it on you, like he didn't get enough targets
06:29in a big game,
06:30he doesn't like that he can't wear a different practice uniform than everybody else, and one that isn't permitted.
06:37He gets money voided because he didn't show up for contractually mandated team checks of his rehab.
06:44He's going nuclear on you.
06:47There's a chance, based on current behavior, there's a chance he's going to nuke you publicly.
06:54That's on the cons list.
06:55By the way, several of you said, this is one I got from Keep the Logo.
07:04Keep the Logo wrote, looks like Brandon Iyuk didn't have to do his injury rehab with the team after all.
07:11That rips apart the idea that the 49ers had the right to take his money.
07:15Yeah, I think one of the videos last week, he was saying, I didn't have to do my rehab with
07:20the 49ers.
07:21You know what that's called?
07:22That's called, if you're not paying attention to the story, he's duping you.
07:26You got duped.
07:28Keep the Logo.
07:29Players, of course, can rehab away from their team.
07:31Everybody knows that.
07:32We went through that with Chase Young a few years ago.
07:34But the teams have the right, contractually, to monitor the rehab.
07:40That's why he had his money voided.
07:43Not because he didn't do the rehab with the team, but because he didn't allow them to monitor the rehab,
07:51which would have been a minimal commitment for him.
07:55Yes, he did his rehab outside of the team.
07:58We've all known that.
07:59He did that video where he tried to sell people like you who aren't paying attention.
08:03Hey, I didn't have to do the rehab with the team.
08:06Yeah, we all know that.
08:08But you have to let the team monitor your rehab if you're not doing it with the team.
08:12And he didn't allow for that.
08:15And that's why they were able to void roughly $30 million in guaranteed money from his contract.
08:23And by the way, they're reporting over the weekend, they're going to go after more of it for the behavior
08:27recently.
08:28So the cons list includes immature, self-destructive, overly sensitive, and by the way, let's add in, hasn't played in
08:40two years, coming off a serious injury that could impact his ability to be the player he used to be,
08:47which is why you'd even consider signing him, because you know what he was at the end of 2023, which
08:54was a top 10 receiver.
08:56And as I've said before, I think ascending, I mean, I was a huge, huge fan of him on the
09:03field at the end of 2023.
09:05I did think, I know some of you have said, he's not even worth it.
09:08He's not even that great.
09:09No, he was really, really good and becoming great.
09:15So the cons list is long enough for me to sort of say, yeah, not interested.
09:22And then by the way, you have to add in, in addition to the specific lists, the list items on
09:30the cons list, you've got to have, you know, a gut, a feel, a reading of the room ability.
09:36If you're Adam Peters or another team.
09:38Um, and I think one of the things you would say is this isn't a serious person.
09:45You know, we're trying to get, we've transformed over two years, the culture of a franchise that was one of
09:54the worst in sports for 24 or 25 years.
09:58And this guy isn't very serious, even though he claims that he wants to play for us.
10:04He hasn't done one thing to affect that outcome with actions.
10:08This is square peg round hole.
10:11Like he's just not your gut, you know, the, the emotional part of it.
10:17You got your pros talented.
10:19We need another receiver.
10:21You got your cons.
10:22This guy is immature.
10:24He's self-destructive.
10:26He's overly sensitive.
10:27He's unprofessional.
10:29Uh, he hasn't played in two years.
10:31He's coming off a serious injury, which may impact his ability to be the player he was at the end
10:36of 2023.
10:36And Oh, by the way, let's just, you know, cut to the chase here.
10:39This is not a serious person.
10:42And we want people who actually are going to be a part of the culture that we're creating.
10:48And it looks and feels like square peg round hole.
10:54My guess is that they don't mess with him if, and when he becomes available, I could be wrong.
11:02And they might be desperate enough for his ability and talent on this particular offense that they kick the tires
11:09and bring them in to make sure he's fit physically and mentally.
11:12But my guess at this point, and there's a long way to go between now and whenever he does become
11:19available is that they're going to leave him alone.
11:22They're going to leave this whole thing alone if, and when he becomes available.
11:28Now, as far as the Iuke, JD five, Jaden thing from over the weekend, you heard what Iuke said and,
11:37you know, going after Jaden and apparently they unfollowed each other on Instagram.
11:43And, and he took a shot at the, at the mom, you know, um, and then Jaden, uh, sent something
11:51back.
11:51It was a Kevin Durant, two thumbs down meme.
11:55And I know that, uh, people, you know, it blew up our, you know, part of social media, you know,
12:02fans of this team, et cetera.
12:04Um, look, I don't, I'm not, I, I, I just am not involved enough.
12:12And I, I don't think any of you are either.
12:14This is all sort of a matter of perspective and guessing.
12:18I'm not about to guess as to whether or not this is like a real thing between the two of
12:24them.
12:25Like Jaden's had it with him and, and Brandon's had it with Jaden, or if they're just doing what friends
12:31do sometimes, which is insult each other with, you know, no worries.
12:36And maybe they're just trolling everybody.
12:38That's a possibility.
12:40My, my personal preference would be that Jaden stay out of all of this.
12:45I don't think participating in this strange, you know, kind of public saga helps him get ready for the season.
12:53And not that, you know, he should care about perception, but, you know, getting involved in this circus, in this
13:00Brandon Iuke circus at this point, if you're Jaden Daniels,
13:04I just don't know where the upside is.
13:07Um, I don't know what that was all about.
13:10I don't get those that believe that this was some sort of grand strategy, that thing.
13:17And that idea that some of you have that this guy's playing chess to everybody's checkers.
13:24Yeah.
13:24I don't, I think that's at this point.
13:27Um, if he were playing chess, he would have already been doing the things that he could be doing.
13:34And could have been doing to get himself ready to actually be released, uh, which he hasn't even done.
13:42Um, I, I think Jaden would be better off supporting his friend in private.
13:47If, if by the way, they're as tight as everybody seems to think, um, he's better off supporting him in
13:52private and staying above the fray publicly.
13:54That's what I would say, whether it's, you know, in fun, uh, or the intention, um, is, you know, uh,
14:03well-meaning, uh, between the two of them.
14:06It's just not something that, uh, you know, you want to get involved in because then you're just going to
14:11leave it open to interpretation.
14:13And some people are going to interpret it as what are you doing?
14:16Why are you getting involved in this lunatic with this lunatic publicly stay above it?
14:21You're Jaden Daniels stay above the fray.
14:24Let's, I know that there was another apparently bogus Instagram post from Jaden, right?
14:29That is bogus.
14:30Are we sure about that?
14:32Yeah.
14:32The enjoy retirement buddy, uh, post it, people were saying post and delete, but it's unable to verify if those,
14:40if that was a real post or not.
14:41I don't think it was look netting the whole thing out from my standpoint.
14:46I gave you, I just gave you the pros and cons list.
14:49I take the overwhelming cons and I'd probably say, no, not for me.
14:55And then on top of it, sort of the emotional part of it, that doesn't necessarily get written down as
15:00a specific item.
15:01It's just that this guy's not a serious person and I'm trying to build something here that is more serious
15:08and more focused on team rather than having these sideshows.
15:13And yeah, the, the whole idea that, I mean, look, once you've revealed that you will go scorched earth on
15:20your employer for anything publicly rather than handling it in private professionally, you know, that that's always a possibility.
15:30You can't put yourself into, into a position where at some point you're walking on eggshells around them.
15:35You don't want that.
15:37I think that this isn't going to happen.
15:41Would it shock me if somehow over the next 30 days, he goes on some sort of, you know, contract,
15:48you know, he asks for, you know, for, he apologizes.
15:54He, he, he asks for forgiveness.
15:56He figures it out with the team.
15:58He sits down with a new agent and with, with Lynch and Kyle and, and ownership.
16:03And he says, look, I'm sorry.
16:05I was hurt.
16:05I'm angry.
16:06I'm emotional.
16:07I didn't handle it well, but I want to, I want to play football.
16:11I want to play football.
16:12I'm ready to play football.
16:13I've applied for reinstatement.
16:14I've done all the things I need to do.
16:18I'm ready to play or I'm ready to get released.
16:21And then, you know, he has somebody that gets into his life and explains this last month and why it
16:28hasn't been best for him.
16:30Why a lot of his behavior over the last year and a half has been very self-destructive.
16:34That's not debatable, by the way.
16:36Okay.
16:37For those of you that think he's playing some grand, you know, strategy of chess versus checkers.
16:43He has, he's been self-destructive.
16:46He's lost $30 million plus in guaranteed money.
16:51He posted a video of himself on the internet, on social media, breaking the law, which resulted in an arrest
17:00warrant for him.
17:01He's publicly stated that he's ducking that arrest.
17:06He has literally gone scorched earth on his employer, calling them weirdos and creepy predators.
17:16He's self-destructive.
17:17You can't argue that.
17:19That part can't be argued at this point, even if you're supportive of IU.
17:25Do you want somebody who has been this self-destructive in your locker room that you've turned around in two
17:34years?
17:36301-230-0980.
17:38301-230-0980.
17:40We'll take a couple of calls on this.
17:43You know, the Jaden angle is an angle that I'd love to hear from you on.
17:47I personally just prefer he stay above the fray and not be involved in this three-ring show.
17:57But, you know, whether they're serious and not friends anymore or whether they were trolling, it's just not for him.
18:05If he's a quarterback, he is mature, he is seemingly a guy that has the ability to stay above all
18:14that, I'd prefer that he do that.
