Things might not be looking too good for Brandon Aiyuk's chances of joining the Washington Commanders for the 2026 NFL season. Kevin Sheehan talks about the news of an arrest warrant being out for Aiyuk for speeding and if this recent news is a disqualifier for him joining the Commanders for 2026.

00:00So, here's the latest on Brandon Ayuk. This happened after the show yesterday. A Santa Clara District Attorney's Office issued
00:08an arrest warrant for Brandon Ayuk. He is sought on a misdemeanor charge for exhibition of speed.
00:19This stems from the December 2025 incident outside of the 49ers stadium, Levi's Stadium. This is that YouTube video that
00:32we've already seen and we've already talked about him posting himself speeding around the stadium, driving perhaps more than 100
00:44miles per hour on a road outside of the stadium.
00:50Now, why this many months later are charges being brought? Well, according to Santa Clara Police, authorities finally got around
01:00to analyzing the video and determined that A, Ayuk owned a vehicle similar to the one in the video and
01:09they investigated and found that it was indeed him on the YouTube video.
01:13I think we kind of all knew that anyway. He actually apologized about the video after the fact and it
01:21finally got sent to the District Attorney's Office and they investigated and many months later, here's the misdemeanor charge.
01:28I think that's a little bit odd. That's my reaction to that is it took that long. That video went
01:34viral, you know, on YouTube and the exact speed is actually a TB deer because the vehicle that he was
01:45driving, a Cadillac CT5V Blackwing, can either be set to miles per hour or kilometers per hour.
01:54It was a speedometer that showed 111, but it was unclear as to whether it was miles per hour or
02:02kilometers per hour.
02:04Kilometers per hour would equal 69 miles per hour, still well above the 40 mile per hour speed limit.
02:13But there is a belief that it was miles per hour, but there is a belief that it was miles
02:16per hour and that he was doing 111.
02:19He apologized about it. Yesterday, in the wake of this, he posted photos and a video on Instagram of himself
02:30at a racetrack in a black Mercedes-Benz traveling at high speeds racing around the track.
02:39If you're going to speed, that's the place to do it. At an actual racetrack.
02:45Look, I mean, we've been talking about Brandon Ayuk for a while, and this is just the latest in a
02:52long list of news items that would, you know, certainly not make him look good.
03:01You know, I have to say that I let me cut to the chase on this, because I think that
03:07this is the the question right now for all of you.
03:10And if you want to jump on the phone lines at 301-230-0980, you're more than welcome.
03:16Is the latest on Brandon Ayuk, this arrest warrant, is it a disqualifier in terms of wanting him on our
03:26team for you?
03:27Is it a disqualifier? Yes or no. And we do have our Waldorf Honda Twitter poll up, correct, Max?
03:35We sure do.
03:37We do. And what is the question?
03:39So the question today, does the latest behavior from Brandon Ayuk disqualify him in your eyes from joining the Commanders?
03:45Yes or no are the answers. What are the results so far?
03:49So far, I'm not sure what's going on with Twitter or the algorithm, but we still need votes on the
03:54polls.
03:54So go jump over to the Team 980 Twitter and make your voice heard.
03:58Our poll of the day driven by Waldorf Honda. It all starts with a click, WaldorfHonda.com.
04:04So is the latest on Brandon Ayuk a disqualifier in terms of you want him on our team or not?
04:12Look, you may have already disqualified him for the judgments that he's already made.
04:18You know, the forfeiture of somewhere between $30 and $40 million, the number hasn't really been defined.
04:25Everybody out there, including our guy from SpotTrack, Mike Gianetti, says it's somewhere in that range of $30 to $40
04:32million that got voided.
04:34That was voided, guaranteed money.
04:36How does that happen?
04:37It happens when somebody's an idiot on the other side, and all they have to do is show up to
04:41the team's facility to get their knee looked at, and he couldn't even do that.
04:47Bad judgment. Bad judgment when he put out the social media video of Jaden in his first set of OTAs
04:55when Jaden was reaching out to a good friend to ask him for help,
04:59and he posted, you know, some of that practice video on social media.
05:06The, you know, constant sort of MIA status of Ayuk, the team can never get in touch with him.
05:12He doesn't return calls.
05:13He clearly does not like anybody there, and they don't clearly like him either.
05:18You know, the ability that he had even recently to just show up for an OTA day and sort of
05:24force their hand didn't do that either.
05:27Is the latest on Ayuk a disqualifier for you in terms of wanting him on the team, yes or no,
05:36301-230-0980?
05:39So let me cut to the chase for me.
05:42This standalone incident is not a disqualifier for me.
05:47I mean, the disqualifier for me comes with the same things that I've talked about for months now,
05:54and that is if Adam Peters and Dan Quinn in the front office and the people that have all of
05:58the information that we don't have,
06:00including physical health, knee recovery, you know, state of mind, you know, state of enthusiasm to play football,
06:10you know, trying to prove something, all of those things.
06:13And, by the way, getting him on a prove-it deal, nothing risk-heavy.
06:19I am not in favor of signing Brandon Ayuk to a real contract.
06:24Only a one-year prove-it deal makes sense to me for a guy with this recent track record.
06:32Because I think, you know, yesterday's warrant, first of all, what took them so long for this?
06:39But, secondly, like, this pales in comparison.
06:44I mean, just last week, we haven't even mentioned this, I don't think, because I was on vacation last week,
06:49but Josh Jacobs, the running back in Green Bay, domestic violence arrest,
06:54booked on charges of domestic abuse, strangulation, disorderly conduct.
06:59Nolan Smith recently in Philadelphia, reckless driving.
07:02You know, remember James Pierce?
07:04I mean, he may be going to jail.
07:06I mean, Jordan Addison was doing 125 or whatever, you know,
07:11and was accused of trespassing in addition to, you know, speeding issues.
07:16I mean, this is like nothing compared to the long list of NFL player arrests.
07:23I mean, nothing.
07:24It's a misdemeanor charge.
07:26We get felony charges against players all the time.
07:30So this, as a standalone, is not a disqualifier for me.
07:34I mean, I'm still where I have been with one, you know, update, and that is it's becoming more clear
07:42to me that the biggest issue with Ayuk,
07:46and I don't know anything about his physical health, so that may still be the biggest issue, is that he's
07:51not fully healthy.
07:52We don't know that to be true or not true.
07:55I'm assuming that if they ever signed him, he's physically fit, and that the knee recovered perfectly, and he's ready
08:01to go physically.
08:02But the thing that just constantly comes up is this guy has terrible judgment, limited, clearly.
08:11You know, he may be an idiot.
08:14Now, there are a lot of idiots in the NFL that are great players.
08:18Like, that cannot be a precondition or a prerequisite to being on the roster.
08:24Like, you're not that brilliant.
08:26Yeah, I don't think most of them are.
08:28Some are.
08:29Some are really, really smart.
08:31And others aren't.
08:32Some of the best players in the league are intelligent, highly intelligent.
08:35Some of them aren't intelligent at all.
08:38That's not a prerequisite for being on the roster.
08:41And right now, that's the one thing from afar that you can say definitively about Brandon Iyuk, is that he's
08:51got bad, limited judgment that would speak to some level of, you know, intellectual defect.
09:01Does that impact the locker room?
09:03Does that impact his ability on the field?
09:06That's for Adam Peters and others to determine.
09:09But yesterday's event, for me, as a standalone, is not a disqualifier.
09:15As an addition to the long list now of poor judgment, yeah, I'm concerned about that.
09:22I am.
09:23But, you know, he didn't go out and strangle somebody.
09:28He didn't go out and, you know, and there's nothing.
09:33That charge is a minimal charge.
09:36I mean, following it up with the Instagram of him at a racetrack, I don't know, maybe you could chalk
09:41that up to sense of humor.
09:42I won't.
09:42I'll chalk it up to more bad judgment.
09:45But this team still needs really good players.
09:49And I've never advocated and I won't advocate for anything other than an absolute no to low risk offering to
10:02Iyuk.
10:02That makes the reward sweet.
10:05But if you don't get to that, then you're okay.
10:08What can he really do?
10:10Well, if they think he can do damage by just being in the locker room or being in our community,
10:16well, then don't sign him.
10:17But they have much more information on that than I do.
10:22So that, to me, is not a standalone disqualifier.
10:25That, as an addition, isn't necessarily a disqualifier.
10:29I am obviously not a big fan of the fact that I think this guy is a moron from afar.
10:35He certainly doesn't appear to be super bright.
10:39And, you know, but again, that's not a prerequisite for being a star in the NFL.
10:44So I still want them to add more talent, more playmaking ability to their offense.
10:52And I'll stick with what I've said all along.
10:56If you tell me I'm getting the Brandon Iyuk health-wise of 2023, and there is a reasonable explanation as
11:07to what happened in San Francisco.
11:09And I don't think, as Adam Peters, Lance Newmark, etc., that I'm getting a bad person.
11:17Then I'm still in.
