The Washington Commanders could be out on signing Brandon Aiyuk after the latest news surround him. Kevin Sheehan gives his thoughts on if his stance has changed on wanting the Commanders to sign WR Brandon Aiyuk this offseason if he's made available and his reasons why.

00:00Timmy, Timmy writes, you're going to look stupid when Brandon Aiyuk signs a one-year prove-a-deal,
00:06proves nothing, and never gets another opportunity.
00:10Look, I acknowledge that is a possibility with a guy like this right now, no doubt.
00:15But what would be the downside to the organization if they didn't pay much?
00:20Like, I am not recommending that they sign Brandon Aiyuk to just wing it without any information.
00:29Hey, man, you were great in 23.
00:31Sure, the knee's okay.
00:32We don't need to look at it.
00:33It's been two years.
00:35And all this other stuff, I mean, whatever.
00:37Just come in and play.
00:38No, I'm not suggesting that.
00:40I'm suggesting that if they think they're getting the player physically that was on the field at the end of
00:4823,
00:49and they have a psychologist on staff that says he's mentally fit,
00:56why wouldn't you pay hardly anything all on the come to just see?
01:03You know, look, if they had, you know, Jamar Chase and T. Higgins, then of course I wouldn't care about
01:11this.
01:11I'd say, no, move on.
01:12You don't need this.
01:14They need another playmaker.
01:15I think they do.
01:16I mean, they didn't need one two years ago when they were great on offense.
01:19So maybe you'll get the same sort of performance this year, and Terry can bounce back and have a big
01:25year.
01:27But, no, I think, Timmy, that is an absolute possibility.
01:33If this guy's mentally unstable or has the capability of being mentally unstable, of course that's in play.
01:43Eddie in D.C., Brandon Iyuk, the latest was that there was an arrest warrant issued, misdemeanor, traffic violation, speeding,
01:53exhibition of speed back from December.
01:57Is this a disqualifier for you, or is this, on top of everything else, a disqualifier for you wanting him
02:05on our team?
02:08Eddie?
02:09Oh, yeah, I'm here.
02:11Can you hear me?
02:12I got you now.
02:14Okay, yeah.
02:15No, no, it's not.
02:17I mean, it's been a lot worse.
02:18It's been done in the league with cases that have been found guilty.
02:26And so, no, that's not a – that's not – you know, I'm totally, you know, with incentives and, you
02:35know, one-year deal
02:36and no hurt to the team if it doesn't work out and we do need another playmaker, all of that
02:44is in play and make sure his mental and his physical are in check.
02:50Then, yeah, sign him, no doubt about it.
02:54But, you know, I was listening to Rooster yesterday, and he was adamant about, you know, no, don't sign him,
03:03and this is just another case.
03:05I mean, he's like totally prejudging the guy and doesn't want to give him a chance at all whatsoever.
03:11And he says he has information that, you know, that he can stand by that says that we should have
03:19nothing to do with him.
03:21And Paulie got on his show.
03:23What's the information?
03:24What's the information?
03:25That he wouldn't say.
03:26He wouldn't say.
03:28That's the whole point.
03:29He wouldn't say.
03:30He's just prejudging Iowa.
03:33And Paulie went there and was saying that, you know, he's wrong.
03:39He should give him a chance.
03:40You know, we should give him a chance and have him come on the team and, you know, with incentives
03:46and all that for one year to see.
03:49But they got into it.
03:51And you know Paulie.
03:53Paulie is a football guy.
03:55And shout out to him.
03:57He knows stuff.
03:58And, you know, he's one of the better callers.
04:01And he makes Rooster's show.
04:04And he got hung up on.
04:06It's totally disrespected yesterday.
04:08I do love Paulie.
04:10And you're right.
04:10Paulie has been for years one of the better callers on these shows.
04:15Yeah, you don't do that.
04:16You don't do that.
04:17Well, you do sometimes.
04:19Sometimes you do.
04:19Sometimes you do.
04:20It depends.
04:22And maybe Chris has some information.
04:25I'd love to know what it is.
04:26Look, I'm really, to me, this isn't that hard.
04:30If they decide, because they have all the information, we don't.
04:35Maybe Chris has some information that would lead him to believe you shouldn't do it.
04:39But if, you know, they deem it to be worth it, worth to take, you know, no risk for a
04:48high reward, you got to think the reward is there.
04:52Like, you start with that.
04:54You start with, is the reward there?
04:56Is it possible?
04:58Is it likely that we're going to have a really good football player on our team who just happens to
05:04be available because of a terrible relationship that went south in San Francisco?
05:09And he wants to be here, and he's willing to sign a low-risk, you know, deal, a low-money,
05:16high-incentive deal.
05:17But you've got to first identify if the reward's there.
05:19And I can't do that because I don't have access to the medical, and I certainly don't have access to
05:25the mental.
05:26The mental right now would seem to be the bigger concern.
05:29I would think after two years, essentially, since the injury, coming up on two years since the injury, I'm going
05:37to guess in this day and age, his knee's probably fine.
05:40Probably fine.
05:41But the mental stuff, the judgment stuff, if the judgment stuff is just bad judgment by a dummy, there are
05:48a lot of dummies in the NFL.
05:50If it's bad judgment because he's mentally unfit, well, you can't do it.
05:54And then, you know, as a previous caller said, then you just want him to get help.
06:00Thanks for the call.
06:01Yeah.
06:02Yeah.
06:03Appreciate it.
06:04Bobby in North Carolina, go ahead.
06:07Hey, Kev.
06:09It's a speeding ticket.
06:10It's old news to me.
06:12This changes absolutely nothing in my eyes.
06:15I'm going to trust Adam and the organization.
06:18And if he passes his physical after September 1st, they're going to sign him to a low-risk deal.
06:26But, Kevin, the upside is too much not to poke the bear on this thing, okay?
06:30Yeah, I agree.
06:32You know, I mean, it's a no-brainer.
06:34I mean, what do you got to lose?
06:35But, Bobby, there is a possibility.
06:37We're so far outside of this.
06:40There is a possibility that right now in the building, and I haven't heard this, and I have inquired, but
06:47there is a possibility that Adam's like, we're not doing this.
06:50Like, even Jaden might be saying, don't do this.
06:52He needs help.
06:53I mean, that's a possibility right now.
06:55And in that case, I wish we knew because we are wasting our time.
07:00But, anyway, continue.
07:02If you're right on that, if that's the case, though, you know, if that's the case, they're signing digs already
07:08to me.
07:09I think they're holding out for Brandon, you know, and they know it's going to be probably September 1st, when
07:14he's officially released, and just roll with it then.
07:17But they're going to have him on a low-risk deal, and, you know, I think it's going to hit
07:22him probably once he signs that deal, all those $20, $30, $40 million that basically he's pissed away.
07:30It is finally going to probably hit him.
07:31You know, what have I done?
07:32You know, he's going to play on a prove-it deal.
07:35So, hopefully it's going to work out, but this changes nothing.
07:38Right.
07:39From the paychecks he was getting to the, wait a minute, this is the paycheck on a prove-it deal?
07:46What did I do?
07:48Or he's too limited or too unstable to even sort of, you know, be able to process it.
07:56Yeah.
07:57Who knows?
07:58Who knows?
07:59Welcome back, brother.
08:00Missed you.
08:01See you.
08:01Thanks, Bobby.
08:02Tom in Hyattsville.
08:04Go ahead.
08:06Hey, Kevin.
08:06How you doing?
08:07Good, Tom.
08:08Good.
08:10I mean, he is a professional athlete, right, IU.
08:14But a lot of times after these injuries, a player is never, or usually sometimes, they
08:20don't have the same burst or separation.
08:24And there was no real, like, proof that he's been rehabbing.
08:28Like you said, there's just a lot of factors that we don't even know.
08:31So, how do we know he's rehabbing on his own, even?
08:37And his best ability?
08:39We don't.
08:39Maybe they do, but yeah, but we don't.
08:42Right.
08:42Right.
08:43And his best ability, I think, was his route running and separation, which we've already
08:49addressed in the draft.
08:50I think Antonio Williams will be, they already said, is a great route runner in the draft.
08:57Yeah, he hasn't played a game yet in the NFL.
08:59They always say that, that they're great this time of year.
09:03I love pointing back to Antonio Gandy-Golden was going to be a Rookie of the Year candidate
09:08this time of year.
09:11Yeah.
09:12And Gold, I don't even know who that is.
09:14Yeah.
09:15Nobody does anymore.
09:16Oh, people forget.
09:17Only idiots like me remember.
09:19You know, your injury point, there have been plenty of players who have come back better,
09:26you know, and, or just as good, if not, you know, in better shape post, you know, ACL
09:33surgery, you know, so it's not unusual in this day and age to come back just fine physically,
09:39but you're right.
09:40That's something they obviously have to get a really good grip on.
09:44Is he the same player because he was an exceptional player at the end of 2023, an exceptional separator,
09:53route runner, and they could use one of those.
09:57Thanks, Tom.
09:58Appreciate it.
09:58Let's finish it up with G from the shop.
10:01G, go ahead.
10:03Hey, I'm not excited that he got a war, but like, cause I don't want to see him getting
10:11in trouble legally, but I like it because that's less money that we would have to put
10:16on that guaranteed contract to sign him.
10:19That's even more, another problem or against him.
10:22So that drops his value.
10:24So we ain't got to pay him that much on that contract.
10:26We can get him and Stefan Diggs, man.
10:29He ain't, he ain't running nobody over.
10:31He ain't drinking and driving.
10:32If we got concerns about him driving around all crazy, let's just Uber him to everywhere
10:38when we do sign him.
10:39The Jamin Davis method.
10:41What would you say, Max?
10:42The Jamin Davis method.
10:45Yeah.
10:46Well, it was the Fred, Fred Davis doc wanted, you know, the organization to basically have
10:53someone there to wake him up and then to drive him to practice so he could get there on time.
10:58Yeah.
10:59I would need that.
11:00Yeah, I'm, there's so much we don't know, but there's no way a misdemeanor, you know,
11:08speeding violation is going to be the disqualifier for me.
11:12I mean, he's not Ray Carruth for crying out loud.
11:16So yeah.
11:17Yeah.
11:17Yeah.
11:18Prayers.
11:18Yeah.
11:18Prayers today.
11:19But yeah, like you said, he didn't run nobody over.
11:22He wasn't drinking and driving.
11:24He's a young guy that likes to drive fast, man.
11:26I like to drive fast too sometimes.
11:28Me too.
11:28You know, I've had a couple of recklessness.
11:32Yeah.
11:33But I'm just saying it's not, that's, that's another demerit towards his payday.
11:38You know what I'm saying?
11:39We don't have to break the bank for Stefan Diggs because of his behavior off the field
11:44and being a candidate.
11:45Well, and his age too.
11:47He's, he's a different case because of the age.
11:49Yeah.
11:49But, but, but that he's a great age for me because he's in the twilight of his career,
11:55close it out where you came from.
11:57And he was in the Superbowl last year, helping a team that wasn't picked to go to the Superbowl.
12:02How about you do that with us?
12:04On the bargain deals, both of them, because we don't have to break the bank for either.
12:09Well, I'm going to go get both of them and I'm with you, Shane, and all the new, new receivers
12:14that we done got anybody drafted.
12:16We don't know what's going on until they put them pads on, man.
12:20Talk to you later.
12:21Thanks as always.
