00:45em Sardinia,
00:48no quarto do campeonato do campeonato.
01:165th or 6th place, as we work our way towards the end of this opening lap.
01:19Yeah, Sacha Cunha, knowing that Ferez will try and scoot away from him,
01:23and of course the championship rival, he can't afford to keep losing points to the Spaniard.
01:27So, Guilherme Ferez, absolutely immaculate a week ago in Portugal,
01:30he won the qualifying race of both races on a Sunday.
01:33For the first time in his career, he leads early here in race 1.
01:38He was quick all day yesterday as well, don't forget, in the qualifying race,
01:42and he's trying to put some distance between himself and Sacha Cunha.
01:47It seems to be working at the moment, because as they hit the line a moment ago,
01:51that gap between 1st and 2nd, just over a 2nd,
01:54he already seems to have stretched it out by the time we get to the Vox Holschot line.
01:58We will get another split, a couple corners from here, through the rhythm section.
02:02So it'll be interesting to see if he's just eking 1 or 2 tenths here or there.
02:06Yeah, and it's not the triumph that the home fans would have wanted to see at the front,
02:09and McLennan, in his home GP, is back in 7th at the moment behind the two Regulis brothers.
02:17Right, flat landing.
02:19A little bit shorter this time for the diminutive Sacha Cunha,
02:23who pretty much looked like he face-planted the handlebar when he came in from outer space
02:27on the opening lap through there, just to try and make things happen.
02:30Couldn't have gone any longer, Paul, could he absolutely stretch that out there,
02:33nearly wiped out his teammate, to be fair.
02:35I was going to say, not too many riders taking that inside combination through that left-hander,
02:38but Jens Wolvoort making that move through that part of the racetrack.
02:46Starting to dry out in one or two places.
02:49Sacha Cunha playing curvy's with the track limits.
02:55There's your first three.
02:56Then you've got fourth and fifth closing up as well, Wolvoort and Jens raceless.
03:03Today, it is appropriate to call it the moon cam, because the way that these guys are getting airtime
03:07over that triple, over at the bottom end of the circuit.
03:09I was there this morning, actually, watching the warm-ups, and it is pretty impressive.
03:13It looks impressive on TV as well, but actually, when you get close up, the fans view, if you like.
03:19It is absolutely jaw-dropping, and even the FPV drone pilot has to take care of it over there,
03:23because they are almost intercepting the drone pilot.
03:26Now, McClellan making progress past Karnis Rezlis up into sixth place, and Jan is passing Wolvoort now.
03:32Get him over the line then, two laps complete.
03:36Ferez with the fastest lap of the race so far.
03:41Koonan, Langenfelder, Rezlis up to fourth.
03:45Julius Mikula having a crash yesterday in the qualifying race, put him right back to the last gate pick almost,
03:50and he's done well to get up to tenth at the end of the first lap.
03:55Karnis Rezlis here going after Camden McClellan, who's just found his way past the Ontrinity Yamaha rider.
04:01So, Camden McClellan now finally on a charge.
04:03Wonder how much of that is just get those first lap nerves out of the way.
04:07Also, the track a little tricky at the moment, where it's been watered and ripped overnight.
04:11Remember, no European Championship races here, so the moisture that was put in first thing this morning and ripped,
04:17still very much there.
04:18As you can see, the darker part of the racetrack, they are the ones that are offering the most grip,
04:22but at the same time, the ones that have that hidden unknown,
04:25because you don't know how much moisture is in there exactly,
04:28and you don't want to sort of have one of those front-end grabs that just find you sort of
04:32on your ear.
04:33Yeah, that's maybe why a lot of riders are going to the outside on sections like this one, Paul, aren't
04:36they?
04:36The inside lines are obviously deeper, wetter than they have been before yesterday.
04:41So, yeah, for sure, that is limiting their options, maybe, on the track.
04:44Simon Langenfelder sitting there in third.
04:46He's about four seconds off the race lead again.
04:48Ferez at the moment, despite taking his fourth foxhole shot of the season.
04:53But his intensity wasn't quite matched to that of yesterday's performance, where he pretty much led there.
05:00The whole of the 12 laps was never challenged.
05:02But come race day, you get different racers to qualifiers.
05:05Yes, it's still a race on Saturday, but the intensity, they feel that 25 points on the line
05:11is just that little bit more sort of, I don't know, it just gets your attention.
05:17They've changed the waves a little bit through here, a little bit lower on that left side.
05:21I'll be profiling.
05:23Just on the first one, but as we work our way towards the end of lap two,
05:28Sacha Kuna looks like he's narrowed that 1.6 deficit, and he could probably set the fastest lap,
05:33and he does, down to 1.3, 1.57.3, getting to 10th over Ferez over the course of the
05:38lap.
05:45Anyway, as the riders blast past Fitlay, we're getting ready to go too, Lisa.
05:54No idea who she's with.
05:58I'm just with Sophie and Beneluz at the moment, team manager of Jens Wolveld.
06:02Jens did get the start.
06:04He was up in fifth.
06:05As we're doing this interview, I'm not really sure what's happened.
06:08He's still there.
06:09He's still there.
06:09Is he going to be able to stay up in fifth?
06:11Because you've got McClellan on his back wheel.
06:14Yeah, you know, like, last month he had a little bit of a difficult time with small injuries.
06:21So, yeah, you know, like, it's very hard for him, you know, like, to be every week,
06:28you know, on top there in MX2.
06:30He's trying hard, he's working hard.
06:32I believe in him that he can be there with the guys at the top.
06:37I think it's just a question of time to get more confident there up front.
06:42And, yeah, I think he will be there in some couple of races.
06:48He will be there.
06:48A massive positive is he's getting the start, and that's 80% there.
06:51Yes, true, the start is very important, especially at this kind of conditions, because it's very
06:58difficult to make passes.
07:00It's very difficult to, let me say, to keep the speed up, let me say.
07:06And, yeah, you know, like, I think it's very, very important that we get the start to run
07:12up front there with the top guys, with factory guys.
07:15Let's look to the team.
07:16Thank you.
07:17Thank you very much.
07:18Camden McClellan has moved his way into fifth with the move on Jens Walvoort during that interview.
07:22So the Dutchman just getting pushed down into sixth.
07:25Still impressive, though, to pull off a decent start on that uphill drag, 90 meters,
07:30with all that elevation and all that loam in amongst the factory bikes.
07:34So, yeah, impressive riding that from Jens Walvoort.
07:37Still riding with massive blisters and burns from his crash in Portugal a week ago on his thumb,
07:43just on the meaty part of the thumb underneath where the glove sits on the handlebar there.
07:49Really right where you don't want it, absolutely.
07:50Yeah, Walvoort three times ninth is his best overall result this year,
07:54including Switzerland, Argentina and Colombia.
07:56So, Ferez continues to lead.
07:58He's opened that gap now, 2.6 seconds over Sacha Kuhn and Langenfelder,
08:02about another 2.7 further back.
08:04Giannis Racelis fourth, McLennan up to fifth, as we said.
08:06Walvoort sixth, Carlos Racelis seventh.
08:09That's him here in the fluoro.
08:10Breathing down his neck is the white Nistan Hasvana of Liam Evertz.
08:14And then we've got Julius Micheler, who's now up into ninth,
08:16having found his way past Kai Carsmakers.
08:18So, Julius Micheler, not put off by his incident yesterday.
08:23And he's on in charge again, and a rider who is scared to go fast right the way from flag
08:29to flag
08:29and ruffle the feathers of the factory guys,
08:31even though the Osichka KTM rider is very much a private team.
08:36I tell you what, where they're landing, right on the very edge of the track there,
08:41precarious territory.
08:42You only want to be another inch or two over there,
08:45and your back end is just drifting on the steep slope there.
08:48Yeah, and even further out, you've got a flat landing from a massive height.
08:51Yeah, not ideal situation at all there.
08:53I'd be inching a little bit away from the edge of that track,
08:55but, yeah, they're hunting for the smooth lines,
08:57and it's just so fast around here at the moment.
08:59Especially down this downhill as well.
09:01It's absolutely flat stick, fourth gear down there on these 250s.
09:06Evertz takes the inside line,
09:08keeps the back end on the ground over that little single.
09:11See the hang time there as they hit that huge step up,
09:14that triple step up.
09:15And then the different options here as he tries to go inside
09:18just to minimise the bike lengths between him
09:23and the rider ahead of him, Carlos Raceless.
09:28Doubling over that single.
09:31That's what I mean.
09:31They've changed that little profiling down there a little bit
09:33just to allow that to happen, but
09:37here's Langenfelder.
09:39Dehannis Raceless.
09:42Still keeping him honest.
09:43You know, the lap times between these two,
09:45very, very similar.
09:47Raceless there, second rider in shot,
09:48into turn one, top of the screen.
09:51Still hanging on in fourth place.
09:52Remember, he got his first podium a week ago in Portugal.
09:56Did that with a 2-4,
09:57got his first top three race finish as well
09:59with that second place finish.
10:00He's been fastest in time,
10:02practised a couple of occasions.
10:04Never really finished in that top three,
10:06but it's his rookie season.
10:07And so to get his first podium
10:10in the first ten rounds,
10:11still pretty impressive
10:12for the 17-year-old Lampion
10:14who's just recently left school
10:16and can now focus
10:18on the job at hand
10:19of being a pro motocross racer.
10:21Yeah, what a pro motocross racer
10:23he's turning into.
10:24Not outside the top eight
10:25in qualifying races all year long.
10:27And yeah, perhaps the most disappointing man
10:29for him was his home one.
10:30It just didn't seem to have it there
10:31and his home GP emotions getting better.
10:32Just want to see the replay
10:34of that triple in the background there
10:35because they weren't doing that yesterday either.
10:37So a couple of areas
10:38where they've worked on the track.
10:39And obviously when you've got
10:40a brand new venue like this,
10:41you can sit there and say,
10:42oh yeah, the plan is
10:43that they come around here
10:44and that's an option,
10:45that's an option.
10:45But if the elevation,
10:46if the take-off isn't quite right,
10:48you're only going to sort of go forward
10:49rather than high and forward.
10:51And we just saw Janis races there.
10:53I think he tripled his way through
10:54on that outside combo.
10:57Maybe we'll follow him around
10:58next time around.
10:58But yeah, so one or two changes overnight
11:01just to improve the rideability
11:03of this racetrack.
11:05See how hard and slick it is
11:06through that turn there.
11:07The stones really now starting to come
11:08to the surface
11:10just as we had in Portugal a week ago.
11:14Langenfelder into the penultimate corner.
11:16Red Bull KTM rider
11:17now 4.4 seconds behind Sacha Kuhn.
11:20And when you think
11:21Simon Langenfelder,
11:23he's had a couple of third place finishes.
11:25Italy race one in Montevaki
11:27and also in Portugal.
11:28But they were way off the distance.
11:30Hasn't been on the podium, of course,
11:31in the last six rounds now.
11:36Or five rounds.
11:42Yeah, I think it is six, Paul.
11:44Yeah, it was the first four, wasn't it?
11:45And he hasn't since then.
11:46So yeah, that's the scoreline.
11:48He's getting fed up of hearing, no doubt.
11:49And he's trying to put
11:50a good result in here today.
11:52But the honest face of this
11:52is not letting him relax.
11:53And this is an entertaining little scrap.
11:55Paul Karnis versus Liam here.
11:57Yeah, this one's been going on
11:58for a couple of laps, hasn't it?
11:59And reading between the lines,
12:01obviously you can decipher.
12:04But Mfeb Raffer's qualifying race yesterday,
12:0625 minutes plus two laps,
12:07said it's strange how we
12:09didn't even feel like we did a race.
12:12So obviously the track
12:13quite flat yesterday.
12:14Didn't really rough up.
12:15Like we said,
12:16see what triple to the outside now.
12:20That's why those riders
12:21are taking that outside option.
12:22Where yesterday they were inside outside
12:23because it was either double,
12:25double or double, double.
12:26Well, inside is the shortest route
12:27all day long, isn't it?
12:28So that outside now offers
12:30something different
12:31just to get them over
12:32that little bit further.
12:33So Richard then,
12:34with Romain's comments,
12:35they're not actually feeling it
12:36so much with the elevation
12:37and the elevation
12:37isn't really affecting
12:38their physical performance,
12:41I guess, no?
12:41I think also the all-round,
12:43you know,
12:44the weather wasn't too hot
12:45and it was sort of like
12:46hovering up to about 20 degrees.
12:48The track wasn't that physical,
12:50it wasn't that bumpy
12:51and the elevation
12:52not really affecting them either.
12:53So there was a lot of things there,
12:55you know,
12:56to sort of pick through.
12:57But I think when you have
12:59an MXGP in Europe
13:01and you've got the other 120 riders
13:03that are out on track
13:04with 125, 250, European
13:05or whoever and whatever,
13:07tracks break down
13:08very, very quickly
13:09and by the end of the day
13:10they are what can only
13:12be described as gnarly.
13:14Battle for the lead
13:15once again,
13:15Sasha Kunin
13:17reducing the gap
13:17from 1.7 seconds
13:19on lap 6
13:20and he's got it down
13:21to 1.4
13:23so he's just chipping away
13:24at the Spaniard.
13:27Ferez
13:29head down at the moment,
13:30barely look back
13:31on that Triumph
13:32Racing MX2 factory machine.
13:38seven wins
13:38in the season
13:39so far
13:40for the Spaniard
13:42Sasha Kunin
13:44just with the six wins.
13:46So in terms of
13:47the top two
13:48in the championship
13:48very, very similar.
13:50The rider in second
13:51with one race win more
13:53just goes to show
13:55how hard
13:55Triumph it worked
13:57because when you think
13:57of the might of KTM
13:59and how many world titles
13:59they've won
14:00since 2004
14:02and even in 125s
14:03before that
14:04you know
14:04sort of
14:05going back to
14:06sort of 2000,
14:062001,
14:072, 3
14:09and then continuing
14:10in that success
14:11as it's MX2 now
14:12here's that triple look
14:13outside on the gas
14:15stepping up
14:16stepping over
14:16and then that last single.
14:19Cool, you take a tear off
14:20as you're doing it as well
14:20Supreme Star.
14:22Oh, one of those moments
14:23for Sasha
14:24Turn 4
14:26Yeah, and if you take away
14:27the DNF
14:28that Ferez suffered
14:29in Spain
14:30if you make that 25 points
14:31the gap would only be two
14:32between him and Sasha
14:33so that's how powerful
14:34that problem was
14:36and that's what's giving him
14:38a ways to catch up
14:39even though he has
14:40won more races
14:40than Belgium.
14:41And then you look
14:41at the waved yellows
14:43penalty a week ago
14:44in Portugal
14:45where he lost five
14:46even though he won the race
14:47and the GP
14:48five world championship points
14:49can actually be
14:50complete in the championship
14:50so that's how important
14:51those points are.
14:54Six laps
14:56complete.
14:57We are on lap seven
14:58here's Carlos' race list
14:59there's Evertz
15:00those two still
15:02having a proper
15:03little battle
15:04amongst themselves
15:05for that seventh place
15:06I just wonder if Evertz
15:07if he does find his way
15:08past Carlos' race list
15:10will be able to
15:11quickly latch onto
15:12the rear wheel
15:12of Jens Walvo
15:13and move into that
15:15sixth position
15:16because Cameron McClellan
15:17has only put
15:18three seconds
15:19between himself
15:19and the Dutchman
15:20on the KTM
15:20so
15:21you know
15:21the track
15:22very very similar
15:23in terms of pace
15:23the first two riders
15:25won 157s
15:26as Evertz
15:27looking for a way
15:28around in the final
15:29corner
15:29looking for something
15:30different here
15:33Mikola going with him
15:34as well
15:37pretty much even
15:38Steven
15:38as one goes to the
15:39inside
15:39one goes to the
15:40outside
15:40Evertz up on the
15:41banks
15:41as he drifts
15:42through turn 15
15:43a lot more open
15:44through the
15:45straight now
15:46past pit lane
15:46very heavy
15:47and rutty
15:48through there
15:48yesterday
15:51but as we move
15:51into lap 8
15:52Liam Evertz
15:53probably closer
15:54than he was
15:54a lap ago
15:55but only by
15:55maybe a half
15:57a bike
15:57or a bike length
15:58or so
15:59can't afford to
16:00lose the back end
16:01like that
16:01on the exit
16:02either
16:05because any
16:05ground that you
16:06do make up
16:07slight mistake
16:08you find yourself
16:09just working
16:09another three
16:10four laps
16:10just to get
16:11back on terms
16:12yeah
16:13almost identical
16:13lap times
16:14there Paul
16:14as well
16:15with looking
16:15at what
16:16Warford
16:16and Evertz
16:17are doing
16:17there's the
16:18rear wheel
16:19of the Husqvarna
16:19getting lit up
16:21Mikola still
16:22in touch
16:22as well
16:24right
16:25having another
16:25look
16:25turn four
16:26Evertz
16:27slightly
16:27tighter
16:28to the
16:28inside
16:31oh
16:31Evertz
16:32he made
16:33a dent
16:33in the dirt
16:34at the top
16:35when he came
16:35in to land
16:35his rear wheel
16:36almost off
16:37the side
16:37of the
16:38track
16:39called it
16:40a couple
16:40of laps
16:40ago
16:40tell you
16:41what
16:41he'll be
16:42a little
16:42bit

21:53as a South African
21:54riding his home
21:54Grand Prix
21:55and
21:57Cameron
21:57McClellan
21:57here
21:58would love to get

21:59but
21:59fifth place
22:00at the moment
22:01still puts him
22:01in a good position
22:02to get on the
22:03podium at least
22:04but he's going to have to come out
22:05swimming and fighting
22:06to try and get a race in
22:07and rely on other mistakes
22:08or other results
22:09from the riders
22:11falling in certain ways
22:12in terms of
22:13results wise
22:13if he is to
22:14realize that dream
22:15of winning at home
22:16here but
22:16you know
22:17a lot going on
22:18in his mind
22:19a lot of fans
22:19and family
22:21and friends
22:21and that kind of thing
22:23home race
22:25just the
22:26overwhelming nature
22:27of it
22:27you try to keep
22:28your emotions in check
22:30you want that good start
22:31fluffed his lines
22:32right at the very first
22:33gate drop
22:33you saw him
22:34sandwiched between
22:35the two KTMs
22:35but here he is now
22:37clear track
22:37in that fifth position
22:38ten seconds behind
22:39Giannis Raceless
22:41with seven minutes to go
22:42doesn't look like
22:42he's going to advance
22:43any further
22:43buying any mistakes
22:44from any of the riders
22:45ahead of him
22:46but get this first race
22:48out of the way
22:48I know he had a
22:49qualifying race yesterday
22:50but get this one out
22:51of the way
22:51and sort of
22:54reassess
22:54and come out
22:55fighting in race two
22:56yeah
22:57and Tyler Baccio
22:58they're the best
22:58finishing South African
22:59in a South African
23:00GP
23:01three times a second
23:02overall in 2004
23:032006 and 2008
23:04and the only race win
23:05there coming in
23:06that second race
23:07at Nelsprit
23:07in 2008
23:08so yeah
23:09Camden
23:09trying to do what
23:10no other South African
23:11has done
23:12and win on home soil
23:13yeah and obviously
23:13when they did ride
23:14at Nelsprit
23:15it was Tommy Searle
23:15who went to
23:161-2 that day
23:18compared to the
23:193-1 of
23:20Tyler Rattray
23:21and it was just
23:22that first race
23:23that let him down
23:24otherwise it would
23:24have been challenging
23:25it would have been
23:25a tie in points
23:26but if buts
23:27would have should have
23:28cut us
23:29and maybes
23:29and all the rest of it
23:31don't really cut it
23:32in motocross
23:32unfortunately
23:33this is yeah
23:33very true
23:34you know
23:34Tommy Searle
23:3518 years ago
23:36on the top step
23:36of the podium
23:38and also Camden
23:39there running
23:40the number 8
23:40in case anyone's
23:41wondering
23:41that is partly
23:42in a testimony
23:42to of course
23:43South African hero
23:44Grant Langston
23:44as well
23:45that was his
23:46AMA national number
23:47and yeah
23:48when rebranding
23:48needing a smaller number
23:49that's what Camden
23:50went with
23:51I believe
23:53Calvin Ballandran's
23:54number 10
23:55is because of
23:55Greg Albertin
23:56when he won his
23:56first world championship
23:57as well
23:57in 91
23:58confirm that
23:59with us
24:00behind the gate
24:01for the last
24:02two years
24:02in fact
24:04the gap
24:04between first
24:05and second
24:05Perez and Kunin
24:07two and a half
24:07seconds now
24:08between the
24:09Triumph
24:10and the KTM
24:12but we've still
24:13got five and a half
24:13minutes plus
24:14two laps to go
24:15and can't
24:16sort of switch
24:17off really
24:17because as we
24:19saw yesterday
24:20on the other
24:21side of the
24:21Atlantic
24:22don't want to
24:23ruin it
24:23but a race
24:25leader
24:26very easily
24:26made a mistake
24:27on the final
24:28lap
24:29with about
24:29an eight
24:30second lead
24:30and didn't
24:31win the race
24:32so
24:33just
24:34goes to show
24:35how things
24:35can change
24:36quickly
24:37nothing guaranteed
24:38I think it's
24:38about a three and
24:39a half second
24:39hang time
24:40almost
24:40that big
24:40triple jump
24:41as I was
24:41counting
24:411,000
24:422,000
24:433,000
24:43when they were
24:43up on the
24:44edge
24:44with free
24:44practice
24:45incredible
24:45booter
24:46that obstacle
24:47there
24:47over the
24:48monster jump
24:49right
24:49first three
24:50all on the
24:50same part
24:50of the
24:51racetrack
24:51here
24:51five and
24:51a half
24:52seconds
24:52apart
24:53I wonder if
24:53Sittmann Langenfelder
24:54fantasies chances
24:55with the final
24:56five minutes
24:56plus two laps
24:57to go
24:57he was hesitant
24:58out of that
24:59left-hand turn
24:59a moment ago
25:00looks like he
25:01went in too deep
25:0412 laps
25:04complete
25:06lap times
25:07nice and long
25:08though
25:081.58
25:08another thing
25:09that the riders
25:10said
25:10you know
25:11there's a lot
25:11of tracks
25:11that we have
25:12that are sort
25:12of 1.38
25:131.40
25:13this
25:14you know
25:14there were two
25:15minutes yesterday
25:15in the free
25:16practice session
25:17and a little bit
25:18quicker than that
25:18in the time
25:19practice sessions
25:20but in the
25:21in the warm-up
25:22this morning
25:23the fastest rider
25:25yeah no
25:26first the fastest rider
25:26was indeed
25:27yeah
25:27Sasha Kunin
25:28just by a tenth
25:29of a second
25:29over a Janus
25:30there
25:30Maxime Groh
25:31actually getting
25:31third place
25:32I was just checking
25:32the track map
25:33there Paul
25:33because it just
25:34occurred to me
25:34there's only a
25:35handful of
25:36hairpin bends
25:37there aren't
25:37many 180s
25:38on this circuit
25:38we see quite a
25:39few across the
25:39calendar
25:40but yeah
25:40this one
25:40much more
25:41wide open
25:44well the venue
25:45we're going to
25:45next
25:45the MXGP
25:46of Great Britain

26:09that you want to
26:09go to
26:09and maybe Sweden
26:10or Holland
26:10or whatever else
26:10just click the
26:11event
26:11all the information
26:12comes up there
26:13the road network
26:14nearest airports
26:14and things like
26:15that
26:16and obviously
26:16tickets to buy
26:18one thing or
26:18another
26:19but yeah
26:20Fox Hills
26:21very hilly
26:22very old school
26:23but it's had a
26:24modern facelift
26:28I'm a little bit
26:29skeptical
26:29but I see the work
26:30that's gone on
26:31behind the scenes
26:31you know
26:32that
26:32is it
26:33Barkley
26:33and Alfie
26:34Smith
26:34the track crew
26:35down there
26:35putting together
26:36there's a lot of
26:37dirt come in
26:37there's been
26:38reshaping on the
26:38hills
26:39new jumps
26:39a lot wider
26:41I'm actually
26:41quite looking forward
26:42to it now
26:42the closer we get
26:43so yeah
26:44next GP
26:45of course
26:45two weeks
26:45from now
26:46Great Britain
26:48get yourself
26:49down there
26:50and if you can't
26:50make it there
26:51well then
26:51we'll go in
26:52a week later
26:52to Czech Republic
26:53or Belgium
26:54and the MXGP
26:55of Flanders
26:55a week after that
26:56because we've got
26:56another three in a row
26:57after we get back
26:58from here
26:58and a weekend off
27:01three beautiful
27:02circuits there
27:02the Monster Energy
27:03MXGP of Great Britain
27:04coming up
27:05and yeah
27:05Fox Hills
27:05they've done a
27:06fantastic job there
27:07to combine the best
27:08of what it was
27:09to obviously
27:10meet MXGP standards
27:11of the modern day
27:12era so yeah
27:13it's looking
27:13fantastic
27:14and fingers crossed
27:15for great weather
27:16and good crowds
27:17to get lots of
27:17people down there
27:18and Mark
27:19if you're listening
27:20is they checking
27:20the post already
27:21for that pro
27:25anyway
27:25Carlos Raceless
27:27here
27:28still in
27:298th place
27:31Jens Walvoort
27:32has Walvoort
27:33gone by him?
27:35no
27:36Walvoort was already
27:37there in that
27:37he was ahead
27:37yeah
27:38that's it
27:38Carlos just hasn't
27:39caught him
27:39yeah
27:40impressive ride
27:41this from the 48
27:46so as we get
27:47to the city jump
27:47here is Jens Walvoort
27:50we had the actual
27:51GoPro footage
27:52from his crash
27:53from Captain
27:54McClelland
27:54where he was
27:54following Jens Walvoort
27:55and Liam Everts
27:57when they crashed
27:59so the rider
27:59on the number 48
28:00ahead of the 47
28:01here
28:01and yeah
28:03he didn't
28:03finish the qualifying
28:04race did he
28:04on the Saturday
28:05and mined a
28:05baton bruise
28:06and I was talking
28:07to him yesterday
28:07how's the thumb
28:08thinking it was a
28:09tweak
28:09but it was an actual
28:09burn
28:10so he's blistered
28:11his way
28:11right the way
28:12through on that
28:12on that hand
28:13I think it was
28:14on the left hand
28:14because I shook
28:15his right hand
28:16I was like
28:17I don't want to
28:18squeeze too hard
28:18it was like
28:19it's okay
28:19it's this one
28:20I was like
28:20okay
28:21it was something
28:21out of a horror movie
28:22yeah
28:23really not that bad
28:24I haven't seen it
28:24but yeah
28:25what did he catch it
28:25on the bike
28:26when it landed
28:26on it or something
28:35so Sasha Kunin here
28:40still sort of managing
28:41that gap
28:42it's concertina
28:43isn't it
28:432.2
28:441.7
28:452 seconds
28:461.3
28:46thought there might
28:48have been a charge
28:48a couple of laps
28:49ago
28:50back to Jens
28:50Wolvort
28:51then charging
28:51downhill
28:53in that 7th position
28:55and for Jens
28:56Wolvort
28:58be a best
28:58finish of the season
28:59for him so far
29:00got a 9th in race
29:011 in Latvia
29:03yeah
29:03and his career best
29:04of course
29:05Portugal in the mud
29:062024
29:06he was 5th in race 2
29:08and got 6th overall
29:09there
29:10and also 6th
29:10in the qualifying race
29:11so a great one
29:12in the mud there
29:12for the Dutchman
29:13but as his team manager
29:15there was saying
29:16he believes in him
29:17he does give him
29:18constant support there
29:19taking him all the way
29:19down to South Africa
29:20on the privateer's budget
29:21and yeah
29:22he really is delivering
29:23on what his team
29:24manager's invested
29:25and not easy
29:26to ride around here
29:27at Elevation
29:28on not a stock
29:29motorcycle
29:29they've got work
29:30done on it
29:30but compared to
29:31the factory machines
29:32you know
29:33there's still a
29:33massive gap between
29:34what is stock
29:35and modified
29:36and then modified
29:37and factory
29:37apparently
29:38and so
29:39to be here
29:40Elevation
29:40and riding this track
29:41and you can say
29:43well you know
29:44it's quite a flat
29:45race track at the moment
29:45it hasn't really developed
29:46but you've still got to be
29:47in it to win it
29:47and you know
29:48he is putting in
29:49a proper performance
29:51at the moment
29:51on that number 48
29:52machine
29:53on that SB KTM
29:55right
29:56I think we're getting
29:57a bit of battle
29:57between the two
29:58Rebel KTMs here
29:591.8 seconds apart
30:01the same as
30:02Ferez and Kunin
30:03there is Kunin
30:04and here is
30:05Langenfelder
30:05there is Ferez
30:06just around the corner
30:07so they get between
30:081, 2 and 2 and 3
30:09equidistant
30:12not long
30:13it hasn't been
30:14long ago
30:15that Mark de Ruber
30:16started working
30:16with Simon Langenfelder
30:17as well
30:18so he was
30:18happy as Larry
30:19yesterday
30:20skipping around
30:20after his qualifying
30:21race win
30:22so yeah
30:22interesting to see
30:23what difference
30:23to Ruber can make
30:24especially
30:24when we get to
30:25the sandy circuits
30:26of Blommel
30:27and Arnhem
30:27later in the season
30:28I don't think
30:29he'll be happy
30:29with him losing
30:30the lead
30:30at turn 3
30:31I don't think
30:32he would be
30:33from 1st to 3rd
30:34I can imagine
30:35the conversation
30:36when he gets back there
30:36yeah good
30:37but then all of a sudden
30:38go full
30:38hair dry treatment
30:39from the trainer
30:43that's such a contrast
30:45to characters
30:45Mark de Ruber
30:46and the calm
30:46sort of serene
30:47qualities that Langenfelder
30:49has but maybe
30:49that's the sort of
30:50thing he needs
30:50just to fire him up
30:51or it's working
30:522 to go
30:53as we hit the line
30:54this time around
30:55has Simon Langenfelder
30:56saved the best
30:57to last
30:57in this 1st MX2 race
30:59because he's all over
31:00the back of
31:00Sascha Kunen now
31:01as we emerge
31:02down pit lane
31:03for the penultimate time
31:06and if he does
31:07get the hurry up
31:07and that pushes
31:08Sascha Kunen
31:09guess what
31:10we might have
31:10a 3-way battle
31:11in the next 2 laps
31:12for that race win
31:14but Ferez
31:15at the moment
31:16just looks too far gone
31:17and in his own little world
31:18and he's looking at
31:19at the moment
31:20he's going to go
31:213 races in a row
31:22isn't he
31:22with the 2 from Portugal
31:24a week ago
31:244 if you count the
31:25well no
31:26because he didn't
31:26win the qualifying race
31:27but 4 wins
31:28in the last 2 rounds
31:29including that qualifying race
31:31yeah and he won
31:32the first race
31:32at Montevaki
31:33the weekend before that
31:34so yeah
31:34Ferez hitting a rich
31:35vein of form
31:36right when it counts
31:36at the height of the summer
31:373 GPs in a row
31:39to come after we return
31:39from South Africa
31:40a week's break
31:41but Ferez looking
31:42absolutely on fire
31:43Sascha doing his best
31:44to limit the damage
31:45on points
31:45but Langenfelder
31:46could inflict more damage
31:47on the Belgian here
31:48sneaky little line there
31:49for the riders
31:50yeah
31:52right he goes inside
31:53look for that single
31:54double
31:55and it's a lot slower
31:56through there today
31:57so it's cost him
31:58a lot of time
31:59compared to Sascha Koonin
32:00who just ekes out
32:02another couple of
32:02bite lengths
32:04because they've built up
32:05that inside single
32:07to make it more
32:08sort of you've got
32:08to go single
32:09yesterday you could
32:10come through there
32:11and double on
32:12and double over
32:13and then hit that
32:14last ledge
32:16as a sort of step
32:17down if you like
32:17so that's where
32:18the double triple
32:19came from
32:19but it just
32:20wasn't enough elevation
32:21from the inside
32:21to get all the way over
32:22that's really hurt
32:23it's charged
32:24and was Koonin
32:24as well now
32:25Langenfelder
32:25still kind of
32:26in the air
32:26at the same time
32:27over the big
32:28triple
32:28but yeah
32:29Koonin
32:30well it's not done
32:31though
32:31Langenfelder's
32:31quickly caught it
32:32back up
32:35head down
32:36but how much
32:37closer could he
32:37have been
32:37if he'd have
32:38followed him
32:38line for line
32:39sometimes you just
32:40have to make
32:40that decision
32:40just to say
32:41alright
32:41on these parts
32:42of track
32:42you have no choice
32:44it is the
32:44fastest option
32:45we'll go through
32:46gain another
32:46couple of bite lengths
32:47because you feel
32:47quicker than the rider
32:48ahead of you
32:49on that same part
32:50of the track
32:50which is the
32:50fastest line
32:51of course
32:52then you will
32:52gain that little
32:53bit
32:53and that will
32:54make the difference
32:54when you get to
32:55the next part
32:55of the racetrack
32:56where you can
32:56maybe make a
32:57difference
32:57with a different
32:58choice of line
32:59and maybe even
33:00open up
33:00a plan of attack
33:02into the final lap
33:03Ferez
33:04two seconds clear
33:05of Sasha
33:06Kunin
33:07who is one
33:07and a half
33:08seconds clear
33:08of Simon
33:09Langenfelder
33:09as we head
33:10up the start
33:11straight hill
33:11for the final
33:12time here
33:14and Gier Ferez
33:15has been
33:15absolutely immaculate
33:17head down
33:18a burst
33:19at the head
33:19of the field
33:20opened up
33:20a two second
33:21advantage
33:21which he didn't
33:22need to be
33:22any more than
33:23that
33:25he's found
33:26his way past
33:26so at the 47
33:28of Rachelis
33:29moving up
33:29into seven
33:30on the final
33:31lap here
33:33as he finds
33:34his way past
33:34Jens Wolvoort
33:37still a good
33:37effort for
33:38the number
33:3848
33:42still going to
33:43be his best
33:43resort of the
33:44season as well
33:46is he going to
33:47double his way
33:47past at the end
33:48here yeah
33:48because look
33:48he can
33:49oh he's on
33:49the back wheel
33:50all the way
33:50through
33:51and then
33:51bounces up
33:52and over
33:52kept him
33:53to the outside
33:54no return
33:55there for
33:56Wolvoort
33:56Carlos
33:57Rachelis
33:58into seven
34:0247
34:02passing the 48
34:03yeah
34:03nice bit of
34:04aggression there
34:04from AK47
34:07Kunin slightly
34:08held up by
34:09the lap rider
34:10there
34:10and Langenfelder
34:11getting closer
34:11still again
34:12is there anything
34:13left for these
34:14two
34:14at the last lap
34:16oh Langenfelder
34:17just getting held
34:18up
34:19not once
34:20maybe twice
34:21almost had to
34:21go bar to bar
34:22with the lapper
34:23at the bottom
34:23of the hill
34:23there
34:23and that has
34:24definitely
34:24allowed Kunin
34:25to escape
34:27jumps up
34:28into
34:28turn 11
34:31Ferez
34:31should emerge
34:32here
34:32the other side
34:32of the monster
34:33jump
34:33and does
34:34and Ferez

35:20absolutely on fire
35:21at the moment
35:22a rich vein of form
35:23as you pointed out
35:25Ben
35:26yeah
35:27really hitting
35:27his stride
35:28there
35:28and just
35:28notice that
35:28Everett's got
35:29pretty close
35:30to McLennan
35:30there at the
35:31end
35:31the gap
35:32between them
35:32just under

35:34really putting
35:35in a late
35:35charge
35:35in vain

35:47from the early
35:48laps that
35:48Ferez
35:49will not take
35:49it lying down
35:50so yeah
35:51a fantastic
35:51performance
35:51for the Spaniard
