00:00into that fourth place, nearly got past Fevre as well as the two Frenchmen go at it.
00:04So Coonan, first into life, over the top of the hill here in Fevre, with his eyes full of Jeffrey
00:10Herlings in the rearview mirror, Herlings gets alongside his teammate Tom Vial, Tom Vial then
00:17switches lines just to try and combat that, but we've got the Herlings now up in the second position,
00:23good bit of riding that from the bullet, aggressive and whatever changes they've made to that
00:27motorcycles, I know he wasn't happy when you listen to the bike in pit lane in free practice and time
00:33practice yesterday, he obviously wasn't up to speed in the qualifying race yesterday so it looks like
00:38he's coming out swinging here and he looks like he and everything else around him seems a bit more
00:43competitive right from the very first lap, he'll be out there hanging on to that third place
00:49Fevre trying to go with him, he's got his teammate behind him, Paul Jonas
00:54interesting that scenario because Jeffrey Herlings knows
00:58he needs to start clawing points back on Lucas Coonan, he tried it last week they went 2-1, 1
01:03-2
01:04Herlings won the GP for a 117th time but that point in the qualifying race making the difference,
01:10Lucas Coonan gaining one point on him which is why they arrived here 57 points down but with the qualifying
01:15results yesterday, Coonan winning and Herlings in six, that gap 62 now, Herlings could do with pulling back at
01:21least six by going 1-1 on the Belgian here this weekend just to get himself back in sort of
01:27uh
01:28a positive frame going forward over the next few races yeah and just as the opening lap
01:32aggression from Herlings there just as in Portugal race two when he knew that despite the poor start
01:36he had to hustle get himself up in a second that's what he's done now the big question is can
01:40he chase down
01:41the number five well the fastest rider in warm-up this morning was Roman Fevre with Geiser behind him then
01:45Herlings and Adamo uh the number five Lucas Coonan didn't really bother putting in the lap he was just
01:49happy throwing whips over that big step up over the far end of the circuit so he's obviously looking
01:53good feeling good is the championship leader number five not a care in the world but Jeffrey Herlings
01:59has got to figure out how to deal with this rider right here who is absolutely immaculate
02:04again different lines there they've this outside is certainly the quicker line but Herlings may be
02:09finding something through there they scraped it Paul it looks like you can actually take that one it
02:14doesn't kick you that first one on the down slope so i think they've changed the track again since
02:17the mx2 basically yesterday there was a a double that's what i'm saying so in the mx2 race earlier
02:22it looked like you had to drop down before you uh kind of take off whereas yesterday it was a
02:28take-off
02:28point right through the turn so everyone was pretty much going inside on that part of the racetrack
02:32double double two yamahas going at it here guys looking for a way around his teammate 959
02:39maxime renault gets the power down 70 ruben fernandez just behind them in eighth place as we hit that big
02:45triple over on that far part of the circuit jonas just ahead of him in green on the kawasaki renault
02:53punched over his handlebars as he deals with the threat from the slovenian different rhythms here and
02:58you'll see the yamaha here get the better of jonas no he pulls out of the challenge
03:04jonas still hanging on at the moment in that fifth place on the number 41 machine renault
03:09goes to the outside geyser to the inside nothing in it between the two monster and his yamahas but
03:15they would rather be fighting for first and second rather than six and seven both though geyser and
03:21fernandez have found their way past calvin vallandran vallandran now down to ninth
03:26yeah orelon there opted to go on the outside gate again uh after uh proving to be so successful
03:31yesterday so uh at the moment he's resulted in 11th place ahead of homo panza uh the uh
03:36regular's there milan and smith we're ending up in top 15 but uh in the meantime herlings are doing
03:42all he can to haul in kunan while the yamaha's battle out here renault geyser at it tim geyser
03:48here just below us goes to the outside through turn three bottom of the hill here vial
03:55sneaking that little uh line to the bank sure they'll put pegs back in there
03:59for uh the second races it was like that in mx2 race one as well roman fevra was absolutely on
04:06fire
04:06yes they just couldn't close down the gap to lucas kunan they were never more than a couple seconds
04:10apart throughout the race but again just goes to show how important starts are in this stacked field
04:17of mxgp lucas kunan leading the way roman fevra nearly six seconds adrift in fourth place and we're
04:24only on lap two so you can't afford to lose that time certainly to lucas kunan two hurlings he's got
04:31vial right there ahead of him vial good to see him inside the top three once again because of rider
04:37who crashed and start first turn in race two in france haven't seen him inside the top three since
04:44race one trentino round five where he finished third yeah two hole shots in portugal but yeah fading
04:51rapidly back there still trying to race himself back into fitness and him sharp enough to get past
04:55never after being passed initially by the kawasaki man on the lap here comes kunan what sort of that
05:00time are we going to see here on the uh second full attempt with hurlings desperately trying to hang
05:05on to his coat tails well kunan goes fastest eclipsed immediately by hurlings by another couple of
05:10tenths so 155 652 hurlings starting to mean business starting to get himself warmed up here 155 419
05:20once he gets his teeth in that's his sort of uh strong point jeffrey hurlings because if he gets
05:25close enough it's like a dog without a bone he will not let go we saw that in portugal race
05:30two got
05:30close found an opportunity took it with both hands at the first time of asking and from there he was
05:36able
05:36to cruise inverted commas to that second race win and the overall grand prix victory timing screen now
05:42losing his marble a little bit there he's briefed out young pants on in front of this pack but uh
05:46that's uh right to itself now as the emma house still battle renault still dealing with his teammate
05:50here in sixth place oh he squeezes i tell you what geisser won't like that i don't think but uh
05:55renault
05:55there in six geisser in seven as they drop downhill through turn four fernandez still there behind them
06:04not a threat in this stage though you see that little single then the double onto the plateau
06:08i'll tell you what front end was a little bit low there for geisser
06:13would have loved to have landed both wheels flat rather than a little bit pointy
06:17pointy in the wrong direction as well
06:22doing his best to keep his teammate at bay
06:26good deschmann catching jonas now paul it's uh this jonas has stretched out a couple of seconds on
06:30the frenchman yeah jonas uh dealing with these two just dealing with
06:33each other tripping each other up and that's playing into the hands-on balls jonas right
06:38geisser tell you what renault knew he was there didn't he decided to go to the outside then out
06:43fox geisser who cuts back to the inside both riders dropping at the same turn in the same run
06:48maxim renault doing all he can quite literally to keep his teammate behind him here and all geisser
06:54was doing is just eating roost and making one or two little mistakes here as he's trying to ride over
06:59himself to find his way past renault
07:03three laps in the books when they get through the final turn here
07:08nothing in it between these two again nervous looks over the shoulder from renault
07:14i feel like geisser will not be getting a coffee from maxim from the machine at the truck after this
07:19sort of antics here with maxim looking over constantly don't think maxime renault too
07:22mind too much about that he didn't bring any coffee anyway that'll be the next line
07:27coonan two seconds clear of hurlings those two sort of very very similar in lap times
07:32vial about two seconds for that 1.8 then we've got fevre one behind him one second behind vial
07:39we've got jonas and then the rest of the riders here continuing to fight right look at the two
07:44frenchies here now 16. two mx2 titles for tom vial two mxgp titles for roman fevre the defending champion
07:54nothing worse than having a fellow countryman who's got the same titles in front of you
08:00i'm sure i'm sure he'll uh justify that those are an mx2 not an mxgp that's uh
08:05vial will say at least mine were close together yeah 10 years between drinks
08:11the other one here
08:14charging downhill still can't do anything about tom vial hrc petronas and actually for uh
08:21jacomo garibaldi and everybody over there in uh on the towers second and third at the moment in this
08:25uh race for their two riders hurlings and vial uh fernandez there in eighth place didn't make the best
08:30start tim geisser goes back to work renault looking across to see what the gaps are and
08:39see what's uh going on ahead of him here was this part of the racetrack a lap ago between these
08:43two
08:46watch this just gets squeezed they saw the body language of geisser
08:50and uh nash there wasn't happy on the left
08:56and looking across again tell you what i wouldn't be surprised if there's words said between either
09:01geisser and renault or the team and those two just say come on guys you know fighting for the same
09:07team the same brand and all the rest of it but uh try and keep it clean at least but
09:11rule number one
09:12beat your teammate but yeah i mean we talk about the hang time there a double take in midair over
09:16the
09:16biggest jump on the track very strange and the message of care to tim geisser from the team as
09:20well that's a curious one well i'll tell you what off the side of the track there yeah other side
09:25of
09:25the market fernandez just kind of landed a little short well just off track there and obviously not
09:31the easiest thing there to try and get back on as quickly as possible because of the momentum and
09:35you're also starting to head uphill as well but tim geisser here in that seventh place
09:41frustrated at being sort of sat behind his teammate at the moment
09:48still hurlings insisting on the inside line over this one everyone else seems to be taking the
09:52triple i'm not sure if he's actually seeing that lucas is using that we're not sure what lucas is
09:55doing at the moment we can't quite see uh where he is going over that but uh hurlings not seeing
10:00the
10:00two frenchmen go over it wondering if he is uh might change his line if he sees kunan using it
10:07yeah just one of the one of several slight tweaks to the circuit overnight and this morning just to sort
10:12of
10:13improve a little bit of rideability to the racetrack in terms of those split sections those rhythm sections
10:21fevra
10:24trying to lay pancakes mid-race but doubles his way nicely into turn 11
10:29over that sort of half wave again part of that racetrack there you've got four waves going up into the
10:33corner well
10:34two or three if you like because there's two half ones either side so inside you've got one full one
10:41half
10:41and then one full and then one half on the left side going into the corner so that's why you
10:46can sort of
10:47either single double in or double single in to that part of the racetrack
10:52you can use to throw down fastest laps 153 759 hurlings that time around 154 332 that gap now there's
11:02daylight
11:02between them 3.098 seconds between the ktm and the honda vial only 1.7 behind his teammate here here
11:09is vial
11:09there's hurlings ahead of him so second and third there's kunan disappearing
11:16off on the horizon over that triple he's managed the situation here he's weathered the storm early on
11:24hurlings there double double through that inside you can see how fast that outside is
11:28and how effective it was on the opening lap in mx2 race one
11:35fevra searching once more down into turn four that inside rut
11:40seems to be favoring there i think hurling's just going through that inside just thinking it's the shortest option
11:47probably safer in terms of uh just two little doubles rather than uh
11:50a bit of a stretch of a triple intriguing to see what sector times would be for that paul if
11:55it's
11:55faster or not because he's slower than uh vial marginally in that section and of course
11:59slower than kunan as well and then fevra going faster than all three of them through sector two
12:04right renault still with a little bit oh rider down
12:11oh it's vial so vial the number 16 between turns seven and eight
12:17so that's gonna give hurlings a little bit of daylight promote fevra to third he's been down on
12:21the left side look the uh hand guard on that left side that collected that uh protects the clutch lever
12:27and
12:27of course the hands dropping down so he's obviously folded somehow coming into that maybe we'll get a
12:33view of that if we've got it but vial out of third then
12:39does that release fevra to attack on hurlings now that's the big question vial didn't look like
12:43he was hitting speed straight away and the yamaha's looks like tim's uh taking time to plan
12:48again and uh looking to attack maxime in front of him but what a shame for vial he was going
12:52so well
12:55rube fernandez there in the background but another fastest lap for lucas kunin he's into the 153s now 153
13:05682 in the qualifying race yesterday it was a 55 618 so you see how the track has developed over
13:10the
13:10course of the weekend and how it's improved
13:14so as it stands right now of course uh we have the the foxhole shot competition the the most foxhole
13:20shots during the course of the season we also have a chair of his fastest lap which is the fastest
13:24lap either in race one or race two at the moment because this is race one lucas kunin 153 682
13:29tom biel bars twisted and damaged so that seems like it may have been quite a hard hit somehow through
13:37there the left hand side taking a bit of an impact so a rider who looks like is uh trying
13:43to get himself
13:44back just can't catch a break at the moment here's how he managed to uh fall from third place
13:56right lead second rider and shot second rider and shot cross ruts oh yeah he just buried the front
14:03and himself into that turn just tried to get across too early it seemed that little transfer
14:09and then ends up going over the bars bike just coming down immediately that's why there's a little
14:14bit of damage on that left hand side a very savage crash for a slow part of the race traffic
14:18sometimes
14:18those are the ones that hurt the most because you just come to a stop don't you paul you don't
14:22roll
14:22at all so just give you a quick run down then as uh lucas kunin makes his way towards the
14:29end of lap
14:30seven and uh into traffic the red bull ktm rider just eases things back a little bit last time around
14:36was the fastest lap 153 682 this time around 153982 hurlings puts his best lap in this time around
14:43but it's still at 154 121 that gap four seconds now 4.1 seconds look how cool lucas kunin looks
14:52just head down said yesterday at the time practice session if you get a good flow you will be fast
14:58around here that's exactly what he did in uh time practice exactly exactly what he did in the qualifying
15:03race that's exactly what he's doing here so far in race one and of course both him and his brother
15:10racing at thunder valley which is slightly higher elevation than this around about 400 or 500 meters
15:15or so uh so yeah the kunin's obviously used to that sort of thing but yeah it doesn't seem to
15:19be
15:19affecting anybody yeah in terms of physical but just the bikes perhaps battle continues between the
15:25two monster and his yamahas still fighting over fifth and sixth now at the demise at the expense of
15:30tom vial who fell from third a couple of laps ago see how quickly the circuit does dry out though
15:37this is kind of similar to what it was in the qualifying race yesterday
15:42just a little bit harder that's one of the things that the teams were talking about yesterday instead
15:49of scoops maybe switching to more of a harder slash intermediate tire because of the varying nature
15:54of the ground you've got hard take-offs you've got hard parts on the racetrack yes you've got a low
15:58meat uphill but how much do you sacrifice for uh you know for the sake of a tire over course
16:04of 30 30
16:05plus two when you've got a very deep low meat start uphill as well and at altitude do you need
16:11the maximum amount of uh propulsion at the rear wheel and then sacrifice a little bit on track or
16:17you talk to the tyre brands both their both their scoops whether it's Dunlop or Pirelli will say that
16:23you know they've got a good scoop for all conditions now so it'll be interesting to see which way they
16:28decided to go in here you should see jonas up there in fourth place looking at his best result of
16:35the
16:35year if he still if he finishes there on a sunday at least uh matching uh his best of the
16:39year in the
16:39qualifying race of paul jonas uh enjoying the atmosphere here in south africa yeah and he's going to be uh
16:44uh eyeing up tom vial because he was only 30 points down on him so he's going to pull back
16:50another 18.
16:51vial out of the race at the moment or did he go back out after no he's out so uh
16:57well he's completed
16:58six laps now had eight laps by the leaders yeah the uh the team there were uh motioning to go
17:03back to
17:03the paddock of course they go under this city bridge there uh back to the paddock so uh that's an
17:07early
17:08bath on the 16 will he be out in race two is the big question was it physical or was
17:11it bike damage
17:1612 minutes plus two laps to go then mxgp race one here the mxgp of south africa
17:24man stopping up on the highway there talking about cheap seats just to watch a grand prix
17:32but it's lucas kunan who leads he's 4.8 seconds clear of jeffrey hurlings at the moment roman fevere
17:39third jonas fourth and uh maxim renault fifth and whilst we focus on the number five here on the
17:45red bull ktm of lucas kunan we are about to go down to pit lane and uh touch base with
17:51lisa who is
17:51preparing to talk to davide dicali davide dicali of course uh no stranger to winning world titles and
17:58neither is his father claudio and they've got lucas kunan leading and extending his championship
18:04lead at the moment here in this first race so let's go down to pit lane now and hear the
18:08thoughts
18:08of davide dicali davide dicali lucas kunan he got the foxhole shot he's perfectly managing this race
18:15what was his feedback after the qualifying race yesterday i mean yesterday was uh was a really good
18:20good one uh you have a really good feeling with the bike and uh with the track also he loved
18:25this play
18:25i love this place actually everybody loved this place because the the track is really nice uh
18:31yeah yesterday we won the qualifying race with a great old shot today looks like he's doing the
18:37same and uh you have a good start really important to choose the good gate to have a good start
18:42here
18:42and uh yeah leading um yeah you have a solid gap now we will see we will see later on
18:49if jeffrey will
18:49push a little bit more uh but so far all good so i hope to say the same nice love
18:55to the team thank you
18:59wise words there from david edicali because uh yeah we've got 10 and a half minutes plus two laps to
19:04go
19:04we wait to see whether jeffrey will push in the end that's exactly what he did in the second half
19:08of
19:09the race a week ago in portugal sort of sat there kept the belgian honest and then when he sort
19:14of
19:15realized he'd taken a chunk of time out of him he kept going and going and going then he found
19:19his
19:19opportunity through a right hand turn a couple of corners from the end of the lap made his pass
19:26okay he gave lucas a parking ticket but at the same time it wasn't a big contact as it was
19:33a generally
19:34a slow sort of block pass if you like but once he made that move and made it stick and
19:39he got daylight
19:40lucas i think did try to go with him but went you know what you can have the grand prix
19:43you're chasing
19:44those numbers i'm not at this stage um and i'm still gonna extend my championship lead by a
19:49point because of what i did in the qualifying race so mature thinking to not come back and get
19:53himself in that altercation my question is though had that been the final round the last race of
19:58the championship and you're going for that extra couple of points would he have pushed of course
20:02he would have i think so yeah absolutely and uh personally on the pass i don't think there was
20:06anything too untoward there it could have been a lot more aggressive we've seen much more aggressive
20:10uh in all areas of racing so uh there's fed up calvin's other half telling me the other day that
20:16uh yeah calvin she's never seen coming so excited so happy to be at the gp she's never seen him
20:20like
20:21this was her so literal words so good to see her getting the glad hands on there ferrato looks like
20:25he's uh maybe been down yeah on that left shoulder but uh yeah with the big finger there i'll tell
20:31you
20:31what that's gonna hurt if you uh poke a little bit too high up into the nostril wouldn't it
20:35got an itch you can't scratch great to see calvin villano there inside the top 10 he's uh in eighth
20:41challenging ruben fernandez for that seventh place all he wants to do is just put on a show here and
20:47put in the best performance and i think he's doing that at the moment is calvin villano and what he
20:52keeps saying is a stacked field in mxgp when you look at lucas kunin who's running away with the
20:56championship at the moment hurling's world champion fevra jonas renault geyser all world champions
21:01filling the next positions then we go to fernandez and vallandran and then sandwich just behind them
21:06you've got adamo in ninth place another world champion and so uh when you think of what you
21:12know what's going on out there and uh vallandran on that factory ducati that's still a project in the
21:17making very much here is the number 10 on that red bull ducati looking very besplendent in that uh
21:24south african colors that you see in the rugby teams and uh you know their other sort of national
21:29teams this is a good solid start to the weekend on top of his fifth in the qualifying race yesterday
21:35so
21:36yeah good job calvin and he's also like uh like they touched on in the article there from behind the
21:41gate that uh yeah he is working alone of course andrea bonacorsi uh taking the painful foot peg to
21:46the stomach uh in his crash in latvia completely unable to erase since then and uh apparently still
21:51struggling with the pain from that injury it healed quickly apparently um but uh he's still getting
21:56quite a lot of pain from the muscles he didn't damage any organs but the muscle damage in itself
22:00was extensive and of course yeah jeremy c with a third rider on that team and already departed but
22:04after france jerry was riding in the week and looking uh quite okay so uh maybe there's going to be
22:12some
22:13news on jeremy coming soon sooner rather than later yeah a little birdie told me a deal is done but
22:19yeah we'll wait to see we can't speculate of course but uh yeah also uh and all the world champions
22:23also
22:23signed another deal again we don't know with who but uh yeah it's going to be interesting to see some
22:27of the movements in the off season working our way towards the end of lap 11 here tim geyser
22:34as he continues to follow his teammate maxi renault paul's jonas what a ride he's having in fourth
22:43position at the moment the kawasaki racing team mxgp rider good solid start to the weekend he was
22:52third in the qualifying race his best of the season so far and here he is running in fourth place
22:57eyeing
22:57up a potential podium depending on how results go and uh you know in the second race his teammate
23:04here roman februar is in third that's 3.6 seconds behind jeffrey hurlings the gap between hurlings and
23:09coonan has started to come down a little bit it's no longer four point something it's down to 3.4
23:15but six minutes plus six eleven plus two laps is he bitten off more than he can chew is there
23:21going to be one last lap push uh set to one thirty five zero five thirty four eight yeah that's
23:26coonan
23:26and hurlings respectively equally matched in sector two we'll get sector three as we uh go a couple of
23:32corners from now the sweeping left over the monster energy jump in fact they're about to get there any
23:37moment now because what are they just at the top of the hill here ahead of roman februar so when
23:42they
23:42swing right and then left we'll get sector three and cap's still hovering at 3.4 at the moment
23:49just a note on jonas there a 31 point haul today would see him pass the uh static kyder wolf
23:55in the
23:55championship as well 30 35 7 35 1 hurlings less than three seconds now 2.8 so he is
24:01maybe having a last few sort of minutes charge on coonan going to make a run on the belgian here
24:07with a few laps to go and here is the bullet 2.6 the gap at 155 159 154 147
24:16a full second game
24:17over the course of that and there are the yellow boots of lucas coonan right ahead of him you can't
24:22miss the high boost the high vis footwear of the belgian the race leader and championship leader
24:28literally a red rag to the bullet right now and wow this is this is building up nicely will lucas
24:33respond after getting the pit board that's the question for the bullet
24:38they wouldn't have had time there's uh ah yeah true simone felotti because it would have been
24:42literally just over the line they turned left and there's pit lane so that'll be i don't think
24:46you'll need the pit board i think there's one of two little places where you can sort of sneak and
24:50look
24:50just to sort of see out the peripheral but hurlings is definitely meaning business here in the latter
24:55stages of the race it's got way too much experience just to sort of think otherwise doesn't he and uh
25:01here he is on that double double combination still favoring that interesting how he can he doesn't
25:08submit to switch to the outside line there from uh finish line to uh turn three just just the outside
25:15of
25:15turn one the gap was uh hurlings put the best time in sector one 34 4 only a 10 quicker
25:20than lucas kunan
25:21we're going to get sector two at the top of the hill that should have already uh triggered but uh
25:26hasn't
25:26yet for whatever reason but uh here's kunan there's hurlings right 26 1 3 26 1 0
25:38pulls back another smidge 300s it's nothing but it's something at the same time
25:46this is so nice through this part of the section here onto there double through this corner
25:522.2 the gap hurlings quicker again in sector three
25:56pit boards will be going out squeaky bump time for lucas kunan
26:00with three and a half minutes plus two laps to go here mxgp race one
26:04and sir hurlings sets the fastest lap of the race it's down to 1.8
26:14tell you what whilst we're looking at this fantastic battle let's take a replay of the start
26:19right at the start of the race here 27 minutes ago
26:24hurlings about five gates over on the uh right hand side
26:28on the number 84 lucas kunan there with the foxhole shot
26:34hurlings to his right the line room with a good start as well you'll see the bullet emerge
26:39maybe there he is just inside maxim renault
26:45and this is mx2 all over again there's langenfelder and there's kunan to the outside
26:52one kunan though on that one anyway as well press pause on that one back to mxgp race one then
27:00and lucas kunan has suddenly found a gap eight seconds hurlings has binned it
27:06he's just set the fastest lap and he's binned it in sector one 40.8 seconds and he's lost a
27:13couple
27:13seconds in sector two as well so this is going to be pretty much game over lucas kunan
27:18he dangled the carrot he drew hurlings in hurlings set the fastest lap
27:23and was it a simple error or was it one of those where he was just pushing too hard to
27:27make that
27:27difference he took a look across to kunan there on that triple wanted to know where hurlings was
27:33and hurlings is right there now in the clutches of roman fevere so in sector one
27:38so from the finish line to turn two somewhere around there turn three is where hurlings went missing
27:45because he lost all that time
27:50and now he's under pressure from the number one roman fevere the defending champion in third
27:55position who believes possibly second is on the cards because when you make a mistake
28:00and trying to recover right sector this is on the jump and then into the left-hander he's going to
28:06lose it here isn't he oh i tell you what he was lucky to get a low slide there because
28:11if he had
28:11got a high side he's not the most fragile we say but that could have ended badly but anyway
28:19he uh one swap then the other and that has cost him 25 points
28:25just trying to get the gas on too early paul wasn't it on landing trying to just press that
28:29urgency like you say continuing to press forward seeing that lucas was there urging himself forward
28:33and just on the gas on the slick part of the landing there this part of the racetrack here it
28:36was a
28:37lap ago he looked like he was just trying to turn and get across but the just yeah maybe the
28:42wrong angle
28:43got on the gas could have hit a stone or something like that just uh you know projected that rear
28:49end
28:49slide a little bit more but uh either way he's gone from a potential race winning position where he
28:55was uh less than two seconds but 1.8 down with a handful of laps to go to finding himself
29:01now
29:01fighting for second place under threat from the number one of roman fevre guys are still
29:07frustratingly hasn't found his way past his teammate and the yamaha's still trying to close
29:11down on the number 41 here but the gap between uh jonas and renault seven seconds
29:18heavy landing there from geyser he fences chances though right at the end of the race
29:22two lap board will go out next time around traffic on the horizon right geyser switches to the inside
29:28back marker just decides to avoid this whole section altogether look didn't want anything to do with
29:33it blue flag okay you just tell me where to go you want me to go to row zed a
29:38parking zed
29:41guys have been working on project renault for the entire race not able to get past the frenchman but
29:45now looking closer than he has done all the way through yeah he's definitely trying to pick his
29:50pocket now isn't he he's had about the best part of 30 minutes to figure out how to find his
29:55way past
29:55it and uh renault goes defensive geyser jumps to the inside another nervous look again from maxim
30:01renault he'll go defensive here and of course uh geyser will know it just a question how big his elbows
30:08were but not big enough at that moment in time not quite close enough to give him a nudge in
30:12the ribs
30:14maybe next time around who knows anyway they are about to take the two-lap board
30:21and you can see the frustration there he couldn't take that jump could he you couldn't do a double
30:25through the corner and that really cost him yeah this uh there's gonna be i think there will be
30:29where it's important because yeah the the double taken in his eyes he's got issues here i think he's
30:34definitely frustrated the body language from geyser over the last couple of jumps into the finished
30:38turn and uh over the finish line jump itself i think he's just frustrated that he's not able to make
30:44that move and advance forward from what is sixth position remember he was in seventh place before
30:49tom vial fell out of third so he could still potentially be circulating in that seventh position
30:54but the frustration there from the normally placid and laid back and calm tim geyser
31:08meanwhile your race leader kunan 8.7 seconds clear of hurling's bevra still right there
31:16just wasn't close enough to make it or capitalize on the mistake that hurling's made see the body
31:22language of hurling's now he's just trying to ride this one out in that second place
31:26just to limit the damage if you like yeah lucas going and working on his 12th
31:32lottery race win of the year that's on sunday's of course uh double now that would be of the total
31:37of hurling's when you look at maxim renault his lap time last time around was his best of the race
31:42at 156.251 you compare that to hurling's uh 153.166 two laps ago it's clear there's still work to
31:51be done
31:51in that department into the final lap lucas kunan on a sunday afternoon stroll
31:58with a 7.4 second lead as he goes into the final lap the red bull ktm rider with a
32:05foxhole shot
32:07and he's turning it into 25 points at the moment made everybody else work
32:13including jeffrey hurling's who got to less than two seconds because we don't know the outcome had hurling's not
32:18fallen a couple of laps ago but what we do know is lucas kunan has left to his own devices
32:26to
32:27cruise to what would be another race win here in 2026 and he's just looked immaculate once again
32:34yeah and uh trading south africa for southwick next weekend after the ama direct i believe from uh
32:39johannesburg airport to uh yeah wherever the nearest airport is to south i think i'm not sure but uh
32:44yeah lucas is heading over there for a bit of fun next weekend while everyone else takes a weekend off
32:48and uh yeah who's to say what he's got for all those over there because of this form uh he's
32:53looking
32:53hard to stop on his way to his 12th race win of the season so far
33:02i think it's gonna be race win 49 as well for the number five so he's edging closer to that
33:08half century of race wins
33:11and still only 19 years of age turns 20 in uh in uh october and in october november though
33:17close to it so of course he's not he'll be a teenager and uh who knows he could be a
33:23world champion if
33:24he keeps on like this
33:29couple of corners from home lucas kunan red bull ktm factory racing doubles his way majestically
33:36into the penultimate corner steps up for the time final two times into the final turn
33:43and lucas kunan wins race one here in south africa no celebrations probably feels that there's room in
33:52the tank because uh he could probably sense that there was a little bit of a threat from behind
33:57there so uh yes he'll take the 25 points yes he'll take a 12th race win but maybe goes back
34:02to the
34:02dressing room as they say and uh make one or two changes if necessary or he might just be feeling
34:07100 and uh just thinking you know what let's just get this one out of the way go back refocus
34:14come
34:14back do the same again put more distance between myself and the rider i beat into second position
34:21you can see hurlings there motioning to uh andy summers the fim official and uh yeah mentioning
34:26something about something i'm not sure what exactly what it was but uh interesting to have a
34:30conversation with the official on your way out from the track mentioning something
