00:00Women aren't better at housework.
00:01Just so you know, women aren't more organized by nature.
00:05They're not born with a built-in calendar
00:07for non-uniform days.
00:09They don't emerge from the womb already knowing
00:11which cupboard the pasta goes in.
00:13They're not naturally better at remembering birthdays,
00:16PE kits, permission slips, and parents' evenings,
00:19or that strange invisible deadline
00:21when the milk has to be replaced before catastrophe strikes.
00:24Society just decided that forgetting was a male privilege
00:28because when a man forgets
00:30to get the school uniform sorted, he's busy.
00:33But when a woman forgets, she's failing at motherhood.
00:36She has to learn to hold a second job inside her head
00:38called the invisible list.
00:40And it hums quietly in the background all day.
00:43Dinner, dentists, packed lunch, birthdays, socks that fit.
00:47It's not organization, it's survival.
00:50And another one of the great shitty tricks of the patriarchy
00:53was convincing people that all of this unpaid mental labor
00:57were some sort of gender-based personality trait.
01:00Men aren't bad at domestic life, you'll see that in some men.
01:03But a lot of men have just never been made responsible for it.
01:06They've been allowed to float.
01:09They get to live in the house without carrying the house.
01:12And meanwhile, women don't manage families, they absorb them.
01:16They become the human reminder system, the walking archive,
01:20the emergency contact for literally everything.
01:23And it's not because they're better,
01:25it's because someone has to be.
01:27So the next time you hear someone saying,
01:30ah, they're just better at this stuff, translate it correctly.
01:33She's not better.
01:34She's just the only one who wasn't allowed to forget.
01:36She's just the only one who wasn't allowed to forget.
01:37I was just the only one who was allowed to forget.
01:37I was just the only one who was allowed to forgive me.
01:37So when I was just the only other family,
01:37I was able to forget.
