00:00:00Amen.
00:00:21Our help is in the name of the Lord.
00:00:23Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
00:00:29Amen.
00:00:32No, no, just we'll go out.
00:00:34It's a good morning prayer.
00:01:17Good morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and welcome.
00:01:20I'm the solemnity of the Word of God, this special solemnity in the life of our church,
00:01:25as the Word of God is indeed a sacrament within our holy church, and the Word of God is our
00:01:32illumination.
00:01:33Let us begin with our morning prayer found on page B7 of your White Pew prayer books, page
00:01:40B7.
00:01:42Blessed be the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who enlighten and sanctify our souls
00:01:46and bodies at all times, now and always, and forever and ever.
00:01:51Amen.
00:01:52O Lord, open my lips.
00:01:56When you give them breath, they live.
00:01:58You give new life to the earth.
00:02:00Alleluia.
00:02:01Praise the Lord, my soul.
00:02:03Lord, my God, how great you are.
00:02:06You are clothed with majesty and glory.
00:02:09You cover yourself with light.
00:02:11You stretched out the heavens like a tent and built your home on the waters above.
00:02:16You use the clouds as your chariot and walk on the wings of the wind.
00:02:21You use the winds as your messengers and flashes of lightning as your servants.
00:02:27From heaven you send rain on the mountains, and the earth is filled with your blessings.
00:02:32You make grass grow for the cattle and plants for man to use, so he can grow his crops and
00:02:39produce wine to make him happy, olive oil to make him cheerful, and bread to give him
00:02:44strength.
00:02:45Lord, you have made so many things.
00:02:47How wisely you made them all.
00:02:50The earth is filled with your creatures.
00:02:52All of them depend on you to give them food when they need it.
00:02:56You give it to them and they eat it.
00:02:58You provide food and they are satisfied.
00:03:01When you turn away, they are afraid.
00:03:04When you hold back your breath, they die and go back to the soil they came from.
00:03:09But when you give them breath, they live.
00:03:11You give new life to the earth.
00:03:13May the glory of the Lord last forever.
00:03:16May the Lord be happy with what he made.
00:03:19I will sing to the Lord all my life.
00:03:21I will sing praises to my God as long as I live.
00:03:25Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
00:03:29And to us in the beginning, and to the Son, and to the Son, and to the Son, and to
00:03:32the
00:03:32Lord, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
00:03:34Let us pray.
00:03:35O God, on the first Pentecost, you instructed the hearts of those who believed in you by
00:03:40the light of the Holy Spirit.
00:03:42Under the inspiration of the same Spirit, give us a taste for what is right and true, and
00:03:48a continuing sense of his joy-bringing presence and power.
00:03:51We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
00:03:55A reading taken from Paul's letter to the church at Galatia.
00:03:59Do not deceive yourselves.
00:04:01No one makes a fool of God.
00:04:03A man will reap exactly what he plants.
00:04:05If he plants in the field of his natural desires, from it he will gather the harvest of death.
00:04:11If he plants in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit he will gather the harvest of eternal
00:04:16life.
00:04:16So let us not become tired of doing good.
00:04:19For if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest, so that as
00:04:25often as we have the chance, we should do good to everyone, but especially to those who
00:04:30belong to our family in the faith.
00:04:32Our help comes from the Lord.
00:04:36Lord, have mercy.
00:04:39Christ, have mercy.
00:04:41Lord, have mercy.
00:04:44Let us once again hold up in prayer and petition all those who have asked for our prayers for
00:04:49their health, for their healing, or for any special need that God, who is the Father of
00:04:53mercy, may grant them all that is needful to them.
00:04:57We press specially for Laura, Stan, Kelly, Curtis, Joshua, Tom, Karen, Gregory, Teresa, Michelle,
00:05:07Susan, Gary, Gary and Sandra, Fred, Teresa, Carla, Francine, Eileen, Joyce, Michael, Francis,

00:05:26Jennifer, Steve, Susan, Ed, Chip, Jacqueline, Don, Dewey and Barbara, Jeremy, and all in
00:05:35need of God's healing grace.
00:05:36We pray for all those who serve in the armed forces of the United States, especially Michael,
00:05:42Mark, Patrick, Charlie, Father Joseph, Father Andrew, Father Andrew, Father Nadim, Father
00:05:48Mariusz, and for all of our veterans.
00:05:51We pray for all those in public service, our civil servants, police officers and firefighters,
00:05:56for all active and retired clergy of our Holy Church, for all students and teachers at
00:06:00Mount Pleasant Middle School, for the residents and staff of City Mission of Schenectady, for
00:06:05the residents and staff of Pathways, for all members of the Civil Air Patrol, and for all
00:06:11who have asked for our prayers for any need or intention.
00:06:14This we remember and pray for in a special way the people and the clergy of St. Joseph's
00:06:19Parish in Davie, Florida.
00:06:21We bring all these prayers together before God our Father in the words Jesus taught us.
00:06:27Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
00:06:31Thy kingdom come.
00:06:32Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
00:06:36Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass
00:06:43against us.
00:06:44And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
00:06:48Amen.
00:06:49Accept our morning worship of praise and supplication.
00:06:53O gracious, almighty God, give us unshakable faith, firm hope and sincere love.
00:07:00Bless our comings and our goings, our deeds and our desires, our work and our prayer.
00:07:04Blessed and praised be your precious name and your mighty power, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
00:07:10for now and forever.
00:07:12Amen.
00:07:13Lord, hear our prayer.
00:07:15Lord, let us bless the Lord.
00:07:19Thanks be to God.
00:07:23Well, good morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and welcome on this very special and very important
00:07:29solemnity of the Word of God.
00:07:32We'll hear special readings today.
00:07:34We will have a gospel procession, and we will enthrone the Word of God, both in our parish and in
00:07:42our hearts.
00:07:43A few brief announcements before we begin.
00:07:47There we go.
00:07:51Please keep inviting people to join us to meet the Lord in worship and in fellowship.
00:07:57Veterans and service member Bibles are available.
00:08:00We're going to be doing some special things for the veterans in our community, so please stay tuned for that.
00:08:08Please remember your prayers to the Holy Spirit, as this is a synod year especially.
00:08:14We should always be praying to the Holy Spirit for His grace and blessings on our Holy Church.
00:08:21But, you know, it's a simple prayer.
00:08:23Come, Holy Spirit.
00:08:25That's all you've got to say.
00:08:26It's very simple.
00:08:27Just let's do that, and each and every day pray for the Holy Spirit's blessing in this synod year.
00:08:34And, of course, pray for the gift of vocations to the priesthood and diaconate,
00:08:39especially in this month of June, which is dedicated to vocations.
00:08:45Our sister Patty has provided some information about an online Bible study.
00:08:53It's both online and by telephone.
00:08:56So there's a whole bunch of information in your bulletin.
00:08:59This is something to really take advantage, especially, you know, seeing as Scripture, the Word of God, is so important
00:09:08in our Holy Church.
00:09:10So if you have the opportunity to take part in that, and all of the instructions are in here.
00:09:16So, and we thank Patty for making us aware of that.
00:09:21And remember, take these home.
00:09:24Your penance is listed in here.
00:09:26If you ain't taking it home, you ain't doing your penance.
00:09:30And if you don't, I mean, this is basic Catholicism 101.
00:09:34If you don't do your penance, there's no forgiveness.
00:09:38So, important, right?
00:09:39That's why I put it in here, to help you to remember.
00:09:44Because, you know, my wife tells me, you say things, and she asks me later, she goes, what did you
00:09:49say the penance was?
00:09:52So, let's make sure we do that.
00:09:55But, the week ahead, a food pantry tomorrow, parish committee meeting tomorrow.
00:10:01There will be no Holy Mass throughout the rest of the week, as we will be at the men's retreat.
00:10:07Really, really looking forward to it.
00:10:09I mean, it's going to be a huge, huge turnout this year.
00:10:13Amazing.
00:10:14And it's going to be, I mean, I've got guys flying in from South Dakota, you know, Texas.
00:10:23Texas, all over the country, men are coming for this special event.
00:10:29So, if you still want to get in, we can get you in.
00:10:34So, just let me know, or let Paul know.
00:10:38So, that's throughout the week.
00:10:39Please pray for the men of the church as we gather on retreat.
00:10:43Next Sunday is Holy Mass.
00:10:44It's Father's Day next Sunday.
00:10:46And we enter into ordinary time next Sunday.
00:10:50We will begin, we usually begin doing low mass in the summertime because, you know, it's hot.
00:10:58It's, you know, and we will begin that actually, we usually begin it in July.
00:11:02We will actually begin it in next week.
00:11:06So, that, you know, we'll have, let me be a little bit more relaxed.
00:11:12So, that's wonderful.
00:11:15And the following week, on the 24th, is the Solemnity of John the Baptist.
00:11:21On that day, we'll have a Eucharistic Holy Hour for the gift of vocations.
00:11:25Please join us for that.
00:11:27I'm going to do it at 5 p.m. so more people can make it.
00:11:30So, just please take note of that.
00:11:34And that's enough for me to say.
00:11:37With that, let us now rise and begin our worship with song.
00:11:54To thee we come, O Lord our God.
00:12:00Before thine altar, Father, thou knowest best, our yearning hearts,
00:12:12This supplication answer.
00:12:17Lift up from want thy people, Lord.
00:12:23Bless us, O God, O Father, bless our tour.
00:12:29We ask thee not for bliss in life,
00:12:35Nor golden treasures by door,
00:12:41But that we enter in the strife,
00:12:47Thy kingdom to engender.
00:12:51Lift up from sin thy people, Lord,
00:12:57And strengthen us, O Father, bless our toil.
00:13:04Under thy cross we stand prepared
00:13:09To serve thee with devotion,
00:13:15Be it with sweat of blood or tears,
00:13:20For humble resignation.
00:13:26For we thy people are, O Lord.
00:13:31Save us, O God, O Father, bless our toil.
00:13:42Good morning, my dear brothers and sisters,
00:13:45And welcome on this solemnity of the Word of God.
00:13:48Today's Holy Mass is offered in this month of vocations
00:13:52For the gift of vocations to the priesthood and the diaconate,
00:13:56That God, in his great mercy,
00:13:58May continue to bless his church
00:14:01With those men called to serve
00:14:03To proclaim the Word of God
00:14:06And to bring God's Word into the world.
00:14:09Today's Holy Mass in the contemporary rite
00:14:12As found in your worship aid.
00:14:14We begin in the name of the Father,
00:14:15And of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
00:14:17Amen.
00:14:18Lord, bless us with the wisdom to praise you in spirit and in truth,
00:14:22So that by following your holy will,
00:14:24We may gain eternal salvation.
00:14:27Amen.
00:14:27My dear brothers and sisters,
00:14:29Let us now pause to confess our sins to God
00:14:31And prepare ourselves
00:14:33So that we worthily participate in this holy sacrifice.
00:15:03I recall their sinfulness
00:15:05And seeking reconciliation with God and each other,
00:15:08Let us now recite the confeder as found in your worship aid
00:15:11As our confession.
00:15:14I confess to Almighty God
00:15:16In the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
00:15:19All the saints and you, my brothers and sisters,
00:15:22That I have sinned through my own fault
00:15:24In my thoughts, in my words,
00:15:27In what I have done or failed to do,
00:15:30I ask the Blessed Virgin Mary,
00:15:32All the saints and you, my brothers and sisters,
00:15:35To pray for me to the Lord our God.
00:15:38As an act of penance for our sinfulness,
00:15:41As indicated in your bulletin,
00:15:43This week, take out your Bible.
00:15:46Word of God Sunday.
00:15:48Take out your Bible.
00:15:49Read one verse.
00:15:50Open it anywhere.
00:15:51Read one verse.
00:15:53And think about it.
00:15:55May Almighty God have mercy on us,
00:15:57Forgive us our sins,
00:15:58And bring us to everlasting life.
00:16:00May our Lord Jesus Christ absolve you,
00:16:03And with his authority vested in me,
00:16:04I absolve you from all your sins.
00:16:06In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
00:16:08And of the Holy Spirit.
00:16:10Amen.
00:16:18Indeed, the word of God is living and effective,
00:16:22Sharper than any two-edged sword,
00:16:24Penetrating even between soul and spirit,
00:16:27Joints and marrow,
00:16:28And able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.
00:16:31O Lord, who shall abide in your tent,
00:16:35Who may dwell on your holy mountain,
00:16:37Whoever walks without blame,
00:16:40Doing what is right,
00:16:41Speaking truth from the heart.
00:16:43Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
00:16:45And to the Holy Spirit.
00:16:46Glory be to the Father, and to the Holy Spirit.
00:17:16Peace on.
00:17:23Glory to God in the highest.
00:17:29Peace to his people on earth.
00:17:31Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God, and the Father,
00:17:33We worship you, we give you thanks,
00:17:35Praise you for your glory.
00:17:37Amen.
00:18:01Praise and thanks be ever given
00:18:07With and through angelic hosts
00:18:12To the God of earth and heaven
00:18:17Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
00:18:24Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
00:18:34The Lord be with you
00:18:37And also with you
00:18:41Let us pray
00:18:43O merciful God
00:18:45Grant that we may hear your words with willing hearts
00:18:49And apply ourselves to fulfill them
00:18:52May we progress toward perfection
00:18:55And after completing our earthly pilgrimage
00:18:58May we be united with you in eternity
00:19:02We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son
00:19:05Who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit
00:19:09One God forever and ever
00:19:17Let us now be seated and attentive to the Lord's Word
00:19:49A reading from the book of the Lord's Word
00:19:51Proverbs
00:19:53Every word of God
00:19:55God is tested
00:19:57He is a shield to those who take the refuge to him
00:20:02Add nothing to his words
00:20:04Lest he reprimand you
00:20:07And you be proved a liar
00:20:09Two things I ask you
00:20:12Do not deny them to me
00:20:15Before I die
00:20:16Put falses in lying far from me
00:20:21Give me neither poverty nor riches
00:20:25Provide me only with the food I need
00:20:28Lest being full I deny you
00:20:32Saying
00:20:33Saying
00:20:33Who is the Lord
00:20:35Or
00:20:36Being in want
00:20:38I steal
00:20:39And profane
00:20:41The name of my God
00:20:44This is the word of the Lord
00:20:45Thanks be to God
00:20:48Our response today is
00:20:51Blessed are they
00:20:53Who follow the law of the Lord
00:20:56Blessed are they
00:20:58Who follow the law of the Lord
00:21:21You have given them the command
00:21:24To observe your percepts with care
00:21:28May my ways be firm
00:21:30In the observance of your statutes
00:21:34Blessed are they
00:21:36Who follow the law of the Lord
00:21:39I will praise you with sincere heart
00:21:42As I study your righteous judgments
00:21:45I will observe your statutes
00:21:48Do not leave me alone
00:21:52Blessed are they
00:22:00A reading from the book of Acts
00:22:03Both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said
00:22:07It was unnecessary that the word of God be spoken to you first
00:22:13But since you rejected it
00:22:16And condemned yourself as unworthy of eternal life
00:22:21We now turn to the Gentiles
00:22:24For so
00:22:26The Lord has commanded us
00:22:29I have made you a light
00:22:31To the Gentiles
00:22:32That you may be an
00:22:35Instrument of salvation
00:22:37To the ends of the earth
00:22:39The Gentiles were delighted
00:22:41When they heard this
00:22:43And glorified the word of the Lord
00:22:47All who have destined for eternal life
00:22:51Came to believe
00:22:53And the word of the Lord
00:22:55Continued to spread
00:22:56Through the whole region
00:22:58The word of the Lord
00:22:59Thanks be to God
00:23:20Please pray
00:23:21Alleluia
00:23:25Alleluia
00:23:29Alleluia
00:23:33Alleluia
00:23:36Alleluia
00:23:40Alleluia
00:23:41All the paths of the Lord
00:23:43Are faithful love
00:23:45For those
00:23:46Who honor the Lord
00:23:48The covenant demands
00:23:52Alleluia
00:23:55Alleluia
00:24:00Alleluia
00:24:01Alleluia
00:24:20Alleluia
00:24:21The Lord be with you
00:24:23And also
00:24:23A reading from the Holy Gospel
00:24:26According to St. Matthew
00:24:27Glory be to you
00:24:29O Lord
00:24:30Not everyone who says to me
00:24:32Lord, Lord
00:24:33Will enter the kingdom of heaven
00:24:35But only the one
00:24:37Who does the will
00:24:37Of my Father in heaven
00:24:39Many will say to me
00:24:41On that day
00:24:42Lord, Lord
00:24:43Did we not prophesy
00:24:45In your name?
00:24:46Did we not drive out
00:24:47Demons in your name?
00:24:49Did we not do mighty deeds
00:24:51In your name?
00:24:52Then I will declare
00:24:53To them solemnly
00:24:54I never knew you
00:24:56Depart from me
00:24:57Evil doers
00:24:59Everyone who listens
00:25:00To these words of mine
00:25:02And acts on them
00:25:03Will be like a wise man
00:25:05Who built his house
00:25:06On rock
00:25:07The rain fell
00:25:08The floods came
00:25:09The winds blew
00:25:10And buffeted the house
00:25:12But it did not collapse
00:25:13It had been set
00:25:16Solidly on rock
00:25:17And everyone who listens
00:25:19To these words of mine
00:25:20But does not act on them
00:25:22Will be like a fool
00:25:24Who built his house
00:25:25On sand
00:25:25The rain fell
00:25:27The clouds came
00:25:28And the winds blew
00:25:29And buffeted the house
00:25:30And it collapsed
00:25:32And was completely ruined
00:25:34This is the gospel
00:25:36Of the Lord
00:25:37Praise be to you
00:25:39O Lord
00:25:40Jesus Christ
00:26:08He doesn't know
00:26:15Amen.
00:26:41Let me hear the word of Son of God,
00:26:47teach the culture of wisdom.
00:27:11When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad
00:27:15and they praised the word of the Lord.
00:27:20In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:27:24My dear brothers and sisters,
00:27:26our epistle today, taken from the Acts of the Apostles,
00:27:30has a huge backstory.
00:27:33You know, we all like the backstory.
00:27:34We see some event happen in the world somewhere,
00:27:39whatever it is, you know, politics, Hollywood.
00:27:42We want to know, how did the person get from there
00:27:45to where the person got from there?
00:27:48What's the backstory?
00:27:50Well, the verse I just read is a climax.
00:27:55It's a climax of 35 prior verses,
00:28:00giving the entire backstory
00:28:02for how the Gentiles came to accept the word of God.
00:28:09Paul, Barnabas, and their companions
00:28:11came to Antioch and Pisidia.
00:28:14Now, Antioch and Pisidia is kind of,
00:28:17if you think of it, like,
00:28:18if you know where Izmir is in modern-day Turkey,
00:28:21and you go a little bit to the right,
00:28:24it's in eastern Turkey, modern-day Turkey.
00:28:29So that's where Antioch and Pisidia is right now.
00:28:33Now, and as typical of their routine,
00:28:35when they came to a city,
00:28:36they would enter the synagogue.
00:28:38They went, first place you go,
00:28:40you enter a city, go to church, right?
00:28:42Well, that's what they did.
00:28:43They went to the synagogue,
00:28:44and they met the people there.
00:28:47And, of course, because they were visitors,
00:28:50they were given special honors in the synagogue.
00:28:54And the leaders of the synagogue
00:28:56went up to Paul and Barnabas
00:28:58and their companions and said to them,
00:29:00you know, speak a word of encouragement.
00:29:04Speak a word of exhortation to the people.
00:29:08Exhort the people to faith.
00:29:11Tell them something important
00:29:14that they did.
00:29:17Paul gets up to speak,
00:29:19and he leads the entire congregation
00:29:21of the synagogue,
00:29:23as well as those who were faithful believers in God,
00:29:27but were not Jewish.
00:29:28Well, he led them through
00:29:30almost the entire history of salvation.
00:29:34He laid it all out for them.
00:29:37He started with slavery in Egypt
00:29:40and how the people of Israel
00:29:42conquered that slavery
00:29:44with God's blessing and help.
00:29:48He went from there
00:29:49to the victory of Israel,
00:29:52to the greatness of Israel.
00:29:54Then he took them through
00:29:56the judges of Israel,
00:29:59finally leading them to the kings,
00:30:02to Saul,
00:30:03and then to David.
00:30:05Finally, he arrives at John the Baptist,
00:30:08and what John the Baptist proclaimed,
00:30:12and then,
00:30:13our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
00:30:18Paul is preaching powerfully.
00:30:21He's really,
00:30:22he's got it all going on.
00:30:25He's powerfully preaching,
00:30:26and he's exposing what God has done,
00:30:30finally in Jesus,
00:30:32giving those Jews of the synagogue
00:30:34and other faithful of the synagogue
00:30:37God's promise.
00:30:39Every faithful Jewish person,
00:30:43every person of Israel,
00:30:45knew God's promise.
00:30:47They were awaiting God's promise.
00:30:49They wanted to see it come.
00:30:51They prayed for God's promise
00:30:53to come.
00:30:56And Paul shows them
00:30:58God's promise has been delivered
00:31:00for them.
00:31:02It happened.
00:31:04It happened.
00:31:07It happened in Jesus' resurrection
00:31:10from the dead.
00:31:13And not only was he talking about this,
00:31:17but he started quoting Scripture
00:31:19all along the way.
00:31:20The Scripture tells us this,
00:31:22and the Scripture tells us that,
00:31:24and the Scripture tells us this,
00:31:25and the Scripture tells us that.
00:31:27He went through the Word of God,
00:31:30showing them all of these things,
00:31:32and the promise fulfilled.
00:31:37God's words were plain.
00:31:40The words of his promise were clear.
00:31:45And here is the fulfillment of his word,
00:31:49accomplished in the word,
00:31:52which is Jesus.
00:31:55Now, the excitement really built up.
00:31:58Paul, I mean, he was going at it, right?
00:32:02We cover it in 35 verses,
00:32:04but he was probably there for hours
00:32:06doing all of this.
00:32:09And the people were excited.
00:32:11They were fired up.
00:32:12And that earlier piece of Scripture,
00:32:14the back story,
00:32:16tells us this.
00:32:17As Paul and Barnabas were going out,
00:32:20the people urged them,
00:32:21they urged them,
00:32:22to speak about these things again.
00:32:26When the meeting of the synagogue broke up,
00:32:29many Jews and devout converts to Judaism
00:32:32followed Paul and Barnabas,
00:32:35who spoke to them
00:32:36and urged them to continue
00:32:39in the grace of God.
00:32:42So they not only were leaving,
00:32:44but they said,
00:32:45you've got to come back.
00:32:46You've got to tell us more.
00:32:47We want to hear more.
00:32:48And as they're leaving,
00:32:50everybody got up and sort of followed them out.
00:32:54And they were supporting them
00:32:56to that faith.
00:32:59To that faith.
00:33:01To God's word.
00:33:05The God-graced success of Paul
00:33:08and his companions
00:33:09became evident the next week.
00:33:12One week goes by
00:33:14and all the people
00:33:16are coming to the synagogue
00:33:17as they normally do.
00:33:18And guess what?
00:33:19The whole city showed up.
00:33:20Imagine every resident
00:33:23that have 36,000 people
00:33:26of Schenectady
00:33:26showed up here right now.
00:33:29The whole city showed up
00:33:31to hear Paul and Barnabas.
00:33:36God-graced success
00:33:39led people to the word of God.
00:33:44Yes, God's word is that powerful.
00:33:49Considering this powerful word,
00:33:52the next thing we heard
00:33:53is not great.
00:33:56The Jews were filled with jealousy
00:33:59and blaspheming.
00:34:02Blaspheming.
00:34:04They contradicted
00:34:05what was spoken by Paul.
00:34:09See, people put themselves
00:34:11in the way of God's word.
00:34:15They put themselves
00:34:16as a roadblock
00:34:17to God's word.
00:34:21This is when Paul
00:34:22and his companions
00:34:23turned to the Gentiles.
00:34:24Remember,
00:34:25the whole city showed up.
00:34:27Every way was there.
00:34:28Jews and Gentiles alike.
00:34:30So Paul was like,
00:34:32to the Jews,
00:34:33he's like,
00:34:34you've condemned yourself.
00:34:35You're done.
00:34:36You have condemned yourself
00:34:39to destruction.
00:34:41So we turn to these Gentiles
00:34:44who indeed have faith
00:34:46and want to hear
00:34:47the word of God.
00:34:51And when the Gentiles
00:34:52heard this,
00:34:53that the word of God
00:34:55was for them as well,
00:34:57they were glad
00:34:59and they praised
00:35:01the word of God.
00:35:04The reason for this
00:35:06solemnity today,
00:35:07the point
00:35:09of the whole thing,
00:35:11is that
00:35:13the word of God
00:35:14is the source
00:35:15of our light
00:35:16and our joy.
00:35:18The word of God.
00:35:21Let us rejoice
00:35:22every day
00:35:23like those Gentiles
00:35:25in Antioch
00:35:26of Pisidia
00:35:27rejoiced.
00:35:28Let us rejoice
00:35:29as they rejoiced
00:35:30for what we have
00:35:32and ensure
00:35:34that we study
00:35:35and live
00:35:36the word of God.
00:35:38In the name of the Father
00:35:39and of the Son
00:35:40and of the Holy Spirit.
00:35:41Amen.
00:35:50Let us now rise
00:35:52and together
00:35:52profess our faith.
00:35:54I believe
00:35:55in one God,
00:35:57the Father,
00:35:57the Almighty,
00:35:59Maker of heaven
00:35:59and earth,
00:36:00of all that is seen
00:36:01and unseen.
00:36:02I believe
00:36:03in one Lord,
00:36:04Jesus Christ,
00:36:06the only Son of God,
00:36:07eternally begotten
00:36:08of the Father,
00:36:10God from God,
00:36:11light from light,
00:36:12true God
00:36:13from true God,
00:36:14begotten,
00:36:15not made,
00:36:15of one being
00:36:16with the Father.
00:36:17Through him
00:36:18all things are made
00:36:19for us
00:36:20and for our salvation.
00:36:21He came down
00:36:22from heaven
00:36:23by the power
00:36:24of the Holy Spirit.
00:36:25He was born
00:36:26of the Virgin Mary
00:36:27and became man.
00:36:30For our sake,
00:36:31he was crucified
00:36:32under Pontius Pilate.
00:36:34He suffered death
00:36:35and was buried.
00:36:36On the third day,
00:36:37he rose again
00:36:38in fulfillment
00:36:39of the scriptures.
00:36:40He ascended into heaven
00:36:42and is seated
00:36:43at the right hand
00:36:44of the Father.
00:36:45He will come again
00:36:46in glory
00:36:46to judge the living
00:36:47and the dead
00:36:48and his kingdom
00:36:49will have no end.
00:36:50I believe
00:36:51in the Holy Spirit,
00:36:53the Lord
00:36:53and giver of life
00:36:54who proceeds
00:36:55from the Father
00:36:56with the Father
00:36:57and the Son.
00:36:58He is worshiped
00:36:59and glorified.
00:37:00He has spoken
00:37:01through the prophets.
00:37:02I believe
00:37:03in one holy,
00:37:04Catholic,
00:37:05and apostolic church.
00:37:06I acknowledge
00:37:07one baptism
00:37:08for the forgiveness
00:37:09of sins.
00:37:09I look for the resurrection
00:37:11of the dead
00:37:12and the life
00:37:13of the world
00:37:13to come.
00:37:14Amen.
00:37:15The Lord be with you.
00:37:17Amen.
00:37:18Amen.
00:37:19Let us pray.
00:37:20Gathered as the people
00:37:21of God,
00:37:22sustained by the word
00:37:24of God,
00:37:25and called to be
00:37:26disciples of Christ,
00:37:27together let us pray.
00:37:29Our response today
00:37:30will be,
00:37:31Lord, hear our prayer.
00:37:33If you remain in me
00:37:34and my words remain in you,
00:37:36ask whatever you wish
00:37:38and it shall be done
00:37:39for you.
00:37:40John chapter 15.
00:37:42We pray for our Polish
00:37:44National Catholic Church
00:37:45that rooted in the word
00:37:47of God,
00:37:48she continues to preach
00:37:49God's word
00:37:50and be heard clearly
00:37:51in the midst
00:37:52of her people.
00:37:53We pray to the Lord.
00:37:55Lord, hear our prayer.
00:37:57Jesus answered,
00:37:59It is written,
00:38:00Man shall not live
00:38:01on bread alone,
00:38:02but on every word
00:38:03that comes from
00:38:04the mouth of God.
00:38:05Matthew chapter 4.
00:38:08We pray for
00:38:09those who minister
00:38:12in our church
00:38:12that they find
00:38:13nourishment
00:38:14and guidance
00:38:15through God's word
00:38:16in sacred scripture.
00:38:18We pray to the Lord.
00:38:19Lord, hear our prayer.
00:38:21The law of the Lord
00:38:23is perfect,
00:38:24refreshing the soul.
00:38:25The statues of the Lord
00:38:26are trustworthy,
00:38:28making wise the simple.
00:38:30Psalm 19.
00:38:32We pray for all
00:38:33who teach and preach
00:38:34the word of God
00:38:35that their words
00:38:36may renew the faith
00:38:37of those who listen
00:38:39and encourage them
00:38:40to trust in the promise
00:38:41of God.
00:38:42We pray to the Lord.
00:38:43Lord, hear our prayer.
00:38:46Then I heard
00:38:47the voice of the Lord
00:38:48saying,
00:38:49Whom shall I send
00:38:50and who will go for us?
00:38:52And I said,
00:38:53Here am I.
00:38:54Send me.
00:38:56Isaiah chapter 6.
00:38:58We pray for all
00:38:59who hear Jesus' call
00:39:01to serve him
00:39:02as priests and deacons
00:39:03in his holy church
00:39:04that they will answer
00:39:06the call to vocation
00:39:08and follow Christ
00:39:09with trust and joy
00:39:11in generous service
00:39:12to others.
00:39:13we pray to the Lord
00:39:16that they may all be one
00:39:18as you, Father,
00:39:19are in me
00:39:20and I in you.
00:39:21May they also be in us
00:39:23so that the world
00:39:24may believe
00:39:25that you have sent me.
00:39:26John chapter 17.
00:39:28We pray for healing
00:39:30between Christian churches
00:39:31and communities
00:39:33that God will free us
00:39:34from past rivalries
00:39:36and wounds
00:39:36so that all Christians
00:39:38may work together
00:39:39in serving Christ
00:39:40who calls us to unity.
00:39:42we pray to the Lord.
00:39:45How beautiful upon the mountains
00:39:47are the feet
00:39:48of the messenger
00:39:49who announces peace,
00:39:50who brings good news,
00:39:52who announces salvation,
00:39:54who says to Zion,
00:39:55your God reigns.
00:39:57Isaiah chapter 52.
00:39:59We pray for peace
00:40:00among nations
00:40:01that God would inspire light
00:40:03to shine
00:40:04on all parts of the world
00:40:06that know the darkness
00:40:07of division and war.
00:40:09we pray to the Lord.
00:40:12Your word is a lamp
00:40:14for my feet,
00:40:15a light on my path.
00:40:17Psalm 119.
00:40:19We pray for our parish community
00:40:22that we may have
00:40:23an ever greater openness
00:40:25to the word of God,
00:40:27grow in knowledge
00:40:28and love of scripture
00:40:29and allow it to enlighten
00:40:31the darkness of our hearts
00:40:33and free us to follow Jesus
00:40:35ever more faithfully.
00:40:36We pray to the Lord.
00:40:38Lord, hear our prayer.
00:40:40Though I should walk
00:40:41in the valley
00:40:42of the shadow of death,
00:40:43no evil would I fear,
00:40:45for you are with me.
00:40:47Psalm 23.
00:40:49We pray for our brothers
00:40:51and sisters
00:40:52who have fallen asleep
00:40:53in the hope
00:40:54of the resurrection.
00:40:55May they dwell forever
00:40:56in the house of the Lord.
00:40:58We pray to the Lord.
00:41:00Lord, hear our prayer.
00:41:02God of eternal love
00:41:04and light.
00:41:05You walk alongside us
00:41:06and speak to us
00:41:08through the scriptures.
00:41:09You have given us Jesus
00:41:11as your incarnate word.
00:41:12Hear our humble prayers
00:41:14and grant us the grace
00:41:16and courage
00:41:16to proclaim your gospel
00:41:18with our lives.
00:41:19Through Christ our Lord.
00:41:21Amen.
00:41:22Please be seated.
00:41:28While he was speaking,
00:41:29a woman from the crowd
00:41:30called out and said to him,
00:41:32Blessed is the womb
00:41:33that carried you
00:41:34and the breasts
00:41:35at which you nursed.
00:41:36He replied,
00:41:38Rather, blessed are those
00:41:39who hear the word of God
00:41:40and observe it.
00:41:42Amen.
00:41:43Amen.
00:41:49Amen.
00:41:50Amen.
00:41:50Amen.
00:41:52Amen.
00:41:53Bless you, Lord.
00:41:54All creation,
00:41:55we have this bread to offer
00:41:56which is just going to be
00:41:58made for us
00:42:00the bread of life.
00:42:11By the mystery of this wine
00:42:17and water,
00:42:18we have come to share
00:42:19in the divinity of Christ
00:42:20to humble themselves
00:42:21and to share
00:42:22in our humanity.
00:42:28Bless you, Lord.
00:42:29God of all creation,
00:42:30thank goodness
