00:37:21And also with you.
00:37:24Let us pray.
00:37:27Almighty God, our Father,
00:37:30you have raised Christ, your Son,
00:37:32who conquered death
00:37:34and opened for us the way to eternal life.
00:37:38Let our celebration today
00:37:40raise us up and renew our lives
00:37:43by the risen Christ who is among us.
00:37:46We ask this through the same Jesus Christ
00:37:49who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit,
00:37:52one God forever and ever.
00:38:00Let's now be seated for hearing of the Lord's Word.
00:38:27Our first reading this morning is from the Acts of the Apostles.
00:38:33Peter proceeded to speak and said,
00:38:37You know what has happened all over Judea,
00:38:40beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached,
00:38:44how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power.
00:38:49He went about doing good
00:38:51and healing all those oppressed by the devil,
00:38:54for God was with him.
00:38:57We are witnesses of all that he did,
00:39:00both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem.
00:39:03They put him to death by hanging him on a tree.
00:39:08This man God raised on the third day
00:39:11and granted that he be visible,
00:39:14not to all the people, but to us.
00:39:17The witnesses chosen by God in advance,
00:39:21who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead,
00:39:25he commissioned us to preach to the people
00:39:28and testify that he is the one appointed by God
00:39:33as judge of the living and the dead.
00:39:36To him all the prophets bear witness
00:39:38that everyone who believes in him
00:39:41will receive forgiveness of sins through his name.
00:39:45This is the word of the Lord.
00:39:47Thanks be to God.
00:39:53Our response this morning.
00:39:56This is the day the Lord has made.
00:39:59Let us rejoice and be glad.
00:40:01This is the day the Lord has made.
00:40:05Let us rejoice and be glad.
00:40:07Give thanks to the Lord for he is good,
00:40:10for his mercy endures forever.
00:40:13Let the house of Israel say,
00:40:16his mercy endures forever.
00:40:18This is the day the Lord has made.
00:40:21Let us rejoice and be glad.
00:40:24The right hand of the Lord has struck with power.
00:40:28The right hand of the Lord is exalted.
00:40:30I shall not die, but live
00:40:33and declare the works of the Lord.
00:40:36This is the day the Lord has made.
00:40:39Let us rejoice and be glad.
00:40:42The stone which the builders rejected
00:40:45has become the cornerstone.
00:40:47By the Lord has this been done.
00:40:51It is wonderful in our eyes.
00:40:54This is the day the Lord has made.
00:40:56Let us rejoice and be glad.
00:41:09Second reading is done in the letter of St. Paul to the Colossians.
00:41:14Brothers and sisters,
00:41:16if then you were raised with Christ,
00:41:19seek what is above,
00:41:20where Christ is seated at the right hand of the God.
00:41:24Think of what is above,
00:41:27not of what is on earth.
00:41:29For you have died,
00:41:31and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
00:41:35When Christ, your life appears,
00:41:38then you too will appear with him in glory.
00:41:41This is the word of the Lord.
00:41:44Thanks be to God.
00:42:01Please remain seated for the sequence.

00:42:46Praises to the Paschal Victim,
00:42:51Christians lift up together.
00:42:56Death and life a duel had drawn.

00:43:08Praises to the Paschal Victim,
00:43:14Christians lift up together.
00:43:19Mary, let us hear you say
00:43:22what you saw on your way.

00:43:30beheld the glory that his rising gives.
00:43:35Praises to the Paschal Victim,
00:43:40Christians lift up together.
00:43:45Angels there to this attest,
00:43:49how the linen shroud did rest.
00:43:52Christ, the risen Lord, gives hope to me.
00:43:57Before you now he goes to Galilee.
00:44:01Praises to the Paschal Victim,
00:44:06Christians lift up together.
00:44:11We know that Christ from death is raised,
00:44:16truly King victorious.

00:47:29Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
00:48:28Alleluia, Alleluia.
00:48:29Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
00:48:42Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
00:48:58He commissioned us to preach to the people
00:49:03and testify that he is the one appointed by God
00:49:08as judge of the living and of the dead.
00:49:11In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
00:49:15I'm going to go over here to this amazing place.
00:49:23Early that morning, the women came to the tomb, Mary of Magdala, as we heard,
00:49:30and she finds the stone has been rolled away.
00:49:35And of course, she's naturally astonished,
00:49:39but more than astonished, she's confused.
00:49:43She doesn't understand what's going on.
00:49:48She tells Peter and John, and they run to the tomb as well,
00:49:53and they see the same thing.
00:49:56And they do not understand.
00:50:01They don't get it.
00:50:03The stone has been rolled away.
00:50:05The place where death had claimed victory is now empty.
00:50:19What did that moment mean for them?
00:50:24Certainly, astonishment, shaking their heads, trying to figure it all out.
00:50:30In truth, they did not yet, as the Gospel tells us, understand.
00:50:37In many ways, we stand in that same place today.
00:50:42We gather as they did, a people of deep faith.
00:50:49Yes, but with questions.
00:50:52We have questions.
00:50:55What does it all mean?
00:50:58What does this empty tomb mean for me today, right now?
00:51:07We struggle to get a God, because we have trouble getting Him.
00:51:13We have trouble understanding Him.
00:51:16So we struggle to get this God who would put His all in for us.
00:51:21He would give everything, His very life, for us.
00:51:29We know.
00:51:30We know our faults, our weaknesses, our sins.
00:51:37And we wonder how such a love could be possible,
00:51:42and how could that love be meant for me?
00:51:47And yet, there is the empty tomb.
00:51:55Proclaiming a truth we can hardly grasp,
00:51:59that death is not the end,
00:52:03and sin does not have the final say.
00:52:09We try to analyze it,
00:52:11because as human beings, that's kind of our job.
00:52:14We love to analyze things,
00:52:16especially people who live in the Western tradition.
00:52:19We want to break it all down.
00:52:22We want to study it.
00:52:25And the more we analyze, and the more we study,
00:52:28and the more we go layer after layer,
00:52:30deeper and deeper and deeper,
00:52:33the more we think harder,
00:52:38it's harder to understand.
00:52:42The answer is not complex.
00:52:47The answer is freedom.
00:52:51Freedom.
00:52:52Take that word with you today.
00:52:55Freedom.
00:52:55Freedom.
00:52:58Through Christ, we are no longer bound to sin.
00:53:02The sacrifice has already been offered.
00:53:08The debt has already been paid.
00:53:12We do not need to live crushed by guilt
00:53:17or defined by our past.
00:53:21In him we are released and restored.
00:53:24Lord, we are made new.
00:53:28More than that,
00:53:29he shows us that this life is not all there is.
00:53:35The noise of the world.
00:53:38I know what presses on each and every one of us.
00:53:42The noise of the world.
00:53:47The burdens that we each carry.
00:53:52The anxieties that weigh us down.
00:53:58These are not the final reality.
00:54:03Before us lies eternity.
00:54:06A life filled with perfect love.
00:54:10Perfect peace.
00:54:13And unending communion with God.
00:54:17Unending communion with God.
00:54:21Jesus has opened the door.
00:54:24Today he opens the door.
00:54:28That is the meaning of this day.
00:54:31The tomb is empty.
00:54:33Not because something is missing.
00:54:36But because something has begun.
00:54:41Something has begun.
00:54:45And now the invitation is before each and every one of us.
00:54:50To step out of our own tombs.
00:54:55Step out of your tombs.
00:54:57I need to step out of my tombs.
00:55:03Step out of our fears.
00:55:06Step out of our anxieties.
00:55:08Step out of our sins and our doubts.
00:55:12And walk into freedom.
00:55:16Freedom.
00:55:18True freedom.
00:55:20The stone has been rolled away.
00:55:24We need only enter his new life.
00:55:28In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
00:55:31Amen.
00:55:48Let us now rise and together profess our faith.
00:55:52I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
00:55:57maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.
00:56:01I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
00:56:06eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, light from light,
00:56:10true God from true God, begotten not made of one being with the Father.
00:56:16Through him all things are made for us and for our salvation.
00:56:20He came down from heaven.
00:56:21By the power of the Holy Spirit, he was born of the Virgin Mary and became man.
00:56:30For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
00:56:34He suffered death and was buried.
00:56:36On the third day, he rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures.
00:56:40He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
00:56:45He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
00:56:48and his kingdom will have no end.
00:56:51I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life,
00:56:55who proceeds from the Father with the Father and the Son.
00:56:59He is worshiped and glorified.
00:57:01He has spoken through the prophets.
00:57:03I believe in one holy, Catholic, and apostolic church.
00:57:07I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
00:57:10I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
00:57:15Amen.
00:57:16The Lord be with you.
00:57:18And also with you.

01:05:15who profess the true faith which comes to us from the apostles.
01:05:19Remember your people, Lord,
01:05:20especially our brothers and sisters for whom we now pray,
01:05:23especially for all of our parishioners,
01:05:25all of our members,

01:05:52We also honor the apostles and martyrs,
01:05:54as well as all those who have lived and died,
01:05:56confessing your name,
01:05:58in remembering them,
01:05:59we desire to follow their example,
01:06:00and so gain your love and help.
01:06:03Father, accept this offering from your whole family,
01:06:06grant us your peace in this life,
01:06:08preserve us from spiritual damnation,
01:06:10and count us among your chosen people.
01:06:13Bless, accept, and approve this offering,
01:06:16which we now make to you,
01:06:17and let it be pleasing to you.
01:06:18Let it be pleasing to you.
01:06:20Fill it with the power of your Holy Spirit,
01:06:22and let it become for us the body and the blood
01:06:25of your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.
01:06:28The day before he suffered and died,
01:06:31our Lord desired to make his love known to his disciples
01:06:34and all who would follow him.
01:06:36He therefore instituted these sacred mysteries,
01:06:38by which he joined himself with them spiritually
01:06:41and bodily in his whole being,
01:06:43and abides with us forever.
01:06:46At that moment, so sacred for all of humanity,
01:06:50Jesus took bread into his holy hands,
01:06:53and looking up to heaven,
01:06:55to you, his Almighty Father,
01:06:57he gave you thanks.
01:06:59He blessed the bread,
01:07:01broke it,
01:07:02and gave it to his disciples, saying,
01:07:05Take this, all of you, and eat it,
01:07:08for this is my body,
01:07:10which is given for you.
01:07:27When supper had ended,
01:07:29he took the cup.
01:07:30In the same way,
01:07:31he gave you thanks,
01:07:33blessed it,
01:07:34and gave it to his disciples,
01:07:36saying,
01:07:37Take this, all of you,
01:07:39and drink from it,
01:07:40for this is the cup of my blood,
01:07:42the blood of the new and everlasting covenant,
01:07:45which shall be shed for you and for many
01:07:48for the forgiveness of sins.
01:07:49As often as you do this,
01:07:51do it in remembrance of me.
01:08:08Father, in celebration of the memory of Jesus Christ, your Son,
01:08:11we, your people, recall his passion,
01:08:13resurrection from the dead,
01:08:14and ascension into glory.
01:08:16From the many gifts you have given us,
01:08:18we offer you this pure, holy, and spotless offering,
01:08:21the holy bread of life,
01:08:23and the holy cup of eternal salvation.
01:08:25Look favorably on these offerings,
01:08:27and accept them as you once accepted the gifts of your servant Abel,
01:08:31the sacrifice of our Father in faith, Abraham,
01:08:34and the bread and wine offered by your priest, Melchizedek.
01:08:38In humility, we ask, Father,
01:08:40that these offerings be carried by your angel
01:08:42to your high altar in heaven,
01:08:44so that we who receive the sacred body and blood of your Son
01:08:47from this altar may be filled with your grace and blessing.
01:08:53Remember, Lord, our brothers and sisters who have died
01:08:55and have gone before us marked with the sign of faith,
01:08:58especially for all the departed of Holy Name of Jesus,
01:09:02Good Shepherd, and St. Joseph's parishes,
01:09:04all interred in Holy Name of Jesus
01:09:06and Good Shepherd's cemeteries,
01:09:08as well as for all of our departed loved ones and benefactors.
01:09:12May these and all who rest in Christ find happiness, light, and peace.
01:09:16And we who trust in your love
01:09:18also ask to be included in the fellowship of your holy apostles,
01:09:22martyrs, and saints who offered their lives to you.
01:09:24They were filled with your justice and mercy,
01:09:27and because they lived in accord with the teachings of Jesus,
01:09:30gained eternal joy.
01:09:32Count us among them, Father,
01:09:34not because of what we truly deserve,
01:09:36but because you are willing to forgive us.
01:09:38We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ,
01:09:41by whom you give us all these gifts.
01:09:43You fill them with life and goodness.
01:09:46You bless them and make them holy.
01:09:51Through him, with him, and in him,
01:09:54in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
01:09:58all honor and glory are yours, almighty Father,
01:10:01forever and ever.
01:10:05Amen.
01:10:10Let us now pray with confidence to the Father
01:10:14in the words our Savior gave us.
01:10:18Our Father, who art in heaven,
01:10:25hallowed be thy name.
01:10:29Thy kingdom come,
01:10:32Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
01:10:43Give us this day our daily bread
01:10:49and forgive us our trespasses
01:10:56as we forgive those who trespass against us.
01:11:03And lead us not into temptation,
01:11:09but deliver us from evil.
01:11:15Deliver us, Lord, from every evil
01:11:18and grant us peace in our day.
01:11:20In your mercy, keep us free from sin
01:11:23and protect us from all anxiety
01:11:26as we wait in joyful hope
01:11:29for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
01:11:38The cup of blessing, which we bless,
01:11:45is it not a participation in the blood of Christ,
01:11:50the bread which we break?
01:11:54Is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
01:11:58Because there is one bread.
01:12:00We who are many are one body,
01:12:02for we all partake of the one bread.
01:12:05May the union of divinity and humanity in Jesus Christ
01:12:08bring us sanctification and eternal life.
01:12:12Lord, Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles,
01:12:15I leave you peace, my peace I give you.
01:12:17Do not look at our sins,
01:12:18but on the faith of your church
01:12:21and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom
01:12:23where you live forever and ever.
01:12:26The peace of the Lord be with you always.
