00:02:28Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people,
00:02:34and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,
00:02:40as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,
00:02:44that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,
00:02:49to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant,
00:02:54the oath which he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of
00:03:01our enemies,
00:03:02might serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.
00:03:09And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High,
00:03:13for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people
00:03:19in the forgiveness of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God,
00:03:24when the day shall dawn upon us from on high,
00:03:27to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
00:03:32to guide our feet into the way of peace.
00:03:34Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

00:06:08And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
00:06:12Amen.
00:06:13Let us pray.
00:06:15O God, who does gladden us by the early feast day of our Lord's resurrection,
00:06:20deign to grant that we, who celebrate these solemnities in time,
00:06:23may reach heavenly joys in eternity.
00:06:27We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son,
00:06:30who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost,
00:06:33one God, forever and ever.
00:06:36Amen.
00:06:38Well, good morning, everyone.
00:06:40Again, welcome on this Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the Holy Church.
00:06:45We celebrate this day in particular for the intention of our Holy Church and of our parish,
00:06:51so that the Holy Spirit's many graces may rain down upon all of us.
00:06:57A few brief announcements before we begin.
00:07:00We have our new welcome and introduction cards.
00:07:03They're on the back table there.
00:07:05Please take a few and hand them out, because that's what they're for.
00:07:09And we have plenty, so please share those with people you know.
00:07:13We're going to hear about that a little bit in our homily today.
00:07:17So it's a nice resource for you, and it's a great way to introduce our church to people.
00:07:24One of the cards, people can write their prayer intentions on the back and send them back to us,
00:07:30so we'll remember people's prayer intentions in Holy Mass each week.
00:07:36So it's a nice thing for them that, for, you know, people you encounter that, you know, let them know.
00:07:43We'll pray for you.
00:07:45We'll pray for any one of your needs.
00:07:47I know at Victoria's Party, several people had asked me for particular prayer intentions,
00:07:52and I remember those people in my prayers throughout the week and the months ahead.
00:07:59We have our veterans' resources.
00:08:02I'm also working on a veterans' resource pamphlet, but we have our Bibles for veterans.
00:08:08So they're nice.
00:08:11They're really nice.
00:08:12So if you are a veteran, let me know.
00:08:15We have plenty of them, or a service member.
00:08:18If you're a service member, these are for you.
00:08:27Tomorrow is Memorial Day.
00:08:31We remember in particular all those who gave their lives in service of our country,
00:08:36all those who sacrificed their lives in war, that we may be free.
00:08:44We usually have our Holy Mass of Memorial Day at 10 a.m.
00:08:49at the Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery on Donald Avenue.
00:08:52I don't think we'll be doing that this year.
00:08:55It looks like a 99% chance of rain tomorrow.
00:08:59So we'll have Holy Mass here in the parish at 10 a.m. for Memorial Day.
00:09:05So please join us as we honor those who have given their lives in service of our country.
00:09:13It is still the month of May, at least for another week and one day.
00:09:17So we'll continue in our May Marian devotions.
00:09:20This week, we do them on Wednesday.
00:09:23This week, instead of 3 o'clock, we will do it at 4 o'clock because I have a doctor's
00:09:28appointment,
00:09:28and I won't be able to get back here by 3 o'clock.
00:09:31So we'll honor our Blessed Mother on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
00:09:37So please note that.
00:09:39As it is Pentecost today, you know, it's a good time to start in our intentional prayer for our Holy
00:09:49Church.
00:09:49This is a synod year.
00:09:51It is a very important synod year as we'll be electing three bishops for our Holy Church.
00:09:58And we need the Holy Spirit's inspiration.
00:10:00We need the Holy Spirit's graces and power in our church for those special blessings upon our church.
00:10:09So please make a daily intention to the Holy Spirit that he bless our Holy Church and our parish.
00:10:17That's noted in your bulletin.
00:10:21Again, activities coming up tomorrow, Memorial Day.
00:10:25The men's retreat is coming up.
00:10:27There's a paper on the back table about the men's retreat.
00:10:33I encourage you strongly to go.
00:10:34We also have Kouros and Convo, our youth camps.
00:10:39So Kouros will start on July 4th with our annual July 4th celebration and picnic at our camp in Waymart,
00:10:48Pennsylvania.
00:10:49It's a wonderful event.
00:10:51If you can make it, please come for that.
00:10:54And if any youth are interested, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, please see me.
00:11:01Please remember that the parish pays the full cost for your attendance at these events in support of the families
00:11:10of our church.
00:11:11So please take note of that.
00:11:13Again, the week ahead, tomorrow, Memorial Day, Holy Mass will be here unless the sun breaks through.
00:11:21But right now it doesn't look good, unfortunately.
00:11:26We will have Holy Mass throughout the rest of the week.
00:11:30Marian devotions on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
00:11:33And next Sunday is Trinity Sunday.
00:11:35This season of Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, Corpus Christi, and the Word of God Sunday are a season that we celebrate
00:11:47in our church,
00:11:48in particularly calling to mind the great mysteries of God and his great blessings upon us.
00:11:54And then June will begin Sacred Vocations Month.
00:11:59So please keep vocations in your prayers as well.
00:12:05Well, I think that's it.
00:12:08With that, let us now rise and begin with our opening hymn.
00:12:12We welcome Liz back.
00:12:14Always good to see you.
00:12:16And I'm glad you're doing well.
00:12:19So we will sing a cappella today.
00:12:22So please help me out.
00:12:25Please rise.
00:12:38Oh, breathe on me, oh, breath of God, fill me with life on you, that I may love the things
00:12:57you love and do what you would do.
00:13:03Oh, breathe on me, oh, breath of God, until my heart is pure, until my will is one with yours
00:13:25to do and to endure.
00:13:29Oh, breathe on me, oh, breath of God, my will to yours incline, until this selfish part of me glows
00:13:52with your fire divine.
00:13:56Oh, breathe on me, oh, breath of God, so I shall never die, but live with you the perfect life
00:14:18for all eternity.
00:14:27Again, good morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and welcome on this Pentecost Sunday.
00:14:32This day begins the octave of Pentecost, an eight-day celebration of God's tremendous blessing through God the Holy Spirit
00:14:43that he showers down upon his church here on earth as we build our Lord's kingdom.
00:14:50Today's Holy Mass is offered for our Holy Church, for the Holy Spirit's blessings upon it, as well as for
00:14:58this parish.
00:14:59Similarly, for the Holy Spirit's blessings upon this parish.
00:15:03Today's Holy Mass and the contemporary rite as found in your worship aid.
00:15:08We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
00:15:12Lord, bless us with the wisdom to praise you in spirit and in truth, so that, following your holy will,
00:15:18we may gain eternal salvation.
00:15:21My dear brothers and sisters, let's now pause to confess our sins to God and prepare ourselves so that we
00:15:28may worthily participate in this Holy Mass.
00:15:32Please now confess your sins privately to God and seek his forgiveness.
00:16:03I recall our sinfulness in seeking reconciliation with God and each other.
00:16:08Let us now recite the Confidier as our confession this day.
00:16:12I confess to Almighty God, in the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary, all the saints, and you, my brothers
00:16:20and sisters,
00:16:21that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts, in my words, in what I have done or
00:16:28failed to do.
00:16:29I ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, all the saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to
00:16:37the Lord our God.
00:16:38As an act of penance for our sinfulness, as I mentioned at the beginning of Mass,
00:16:43please offer up a prayer each day, a short prayer, asking for the Holy Spirit's blessings upon our Holy Church
00:16:51and this parish.
00:16:53May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
00:16:59May our Lord Jesus Christ absolve you, and with his authority vested in me, I do absolve you from all
00:17:05your sins.
00:17:05In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:17:15For the Spirit of the Lord fills the world, is all-embracing, and knows what man says.
00:17:22Alleluia!
00:17:24Therefore, no one who utters wicked things can go unnoticed, nor will chastising condemnation pass him by.
00:17:33Alleluia!
00:17:34Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
00:17:38As the Lord's in the beginning, is now and shall we, for the love and time.
00:17:49Amen.
00:17:51Amen.
00:17:53Amen.
00:17:57Amen.
00:18:01Amen.
00:18:05Amen.
00:18:09Amen.
00:18:13Let's now rise.
00:18:15Glory to God in the highest.
00:18:21Amen.
00:18:23Peace to His people on earth, Lord God.
00:18:39Father, we worship Him.
00:18:40We give You thanks.
00:18:41We praise You.
00:18:42Who fear the glory, Lord God, Jesus Christ,
00:18:45only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God,
00:18:48You take away the sins of the world.
00:18:50Have mercy on us.
00:18:52You are seated at the right hand of the Father.
00:18:54Receive our prayer.
00:18:55You will honor the Holy One.
00:18:56You will honor the Lord.
00:18:57You will honor the Most High.
00:18:59Jesus Christ.
00:19:00With the Holy Spirit and the glory of God the Father.
00:19:06Amen.
00:19:08Amen.
00:19:08A blessing to you and gleams of glory from the brightness of Thy face,
00:19:17that with hearts in heaven dwelling we honor may fruitful be,
00:19:25and by angel hands be gathered
00:19:30and be ever more with Thee.
00:19:38The Lord be with you.
00:19:42And also with you.
00:19:46Let us pray.
00:19:49Holy Spirit, giver of life,
00:19:52who proceeds from the Father,
00:19:54have mercy on us.
00:19:57As you descended upon the disciples in the upper room,
00:20:01so now once again descend on your church,
00:20:05inflame our hearts,
00:20:07enlighten our minds,
00:20:09and purify our souls.
00:20:11For together with the Father and the Son,
00:20:14you live and reign one God
00:20:16forever and ever.
00:20:21Amen.
00:20:24Let's now be seated and attentive to the Lord's Word.
00:20:28Amen.
00:20:51Let's now be seated and attentive to the Lord's Word.
00:20:54When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled,
00:20:57they were all in one place together.
00:21:00And suddenly there came from the sky
00:21:02a noise like a strong driving wind,
00:21:06and it filled the entire house in which they were.
00:21:10And then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,
00:21:15which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
00:21:19And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
00:21:22and began to speak in different tongues
00:21:25as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.
00:21:29Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven,
00:21:33staying in Jerusalem.
00:21:35At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd,
00:21:39but they were confused
00:21:40because each one of them heard them speaking in his own language.
00:21:45They were astonished, and in amazement they asked,
00:21:49Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans?
00:21:53Then how does each of us hear them in his native language?
00:21:59We are Parthenians, Medes, and Elamites,
00:22:04inhabitants of Mesopotamia,
00:22:06Judea, and Cappadocia,
00:22:09Potus, and Asia,
00:22:11Phrygia, and Pamphylia,
00:22:12Egypt, and the districts of Libya near Cyrene,
00:22:17as well as travelers from Rome,
00:22:19both Jews and converts to Judaism,
00:22:23Cretans and Arabs,
00:22:24yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues
00:22:27of the mighty acts of God.
00:22:30This is the word of the Lord.
00:22:32Thanks be to God.
00:22:34Our response this morning,
00:22:36Lord, send out your spirit
00:22:39and renew the face of the earth.
00:22:41Lord, send out your spirit
00:22:43and renew the face of the earth.
00:22:47Bless the Lord, O my soul.
00:22:50O Lord, my God,
00:22:51you are great indeed.
00:22:53How manifold are your works, O Lord.
00:22:56The earth is full of your creatures.
00:22:59Lord, send out your spirit
00:23:01and renew the face of the earth.
00:23:05If you take away their breath,
00:23:07they perish and return to their dust.
00:23:10When you send forth your spirit,
00:23:12they are created,
00:23:13and you renew the face of the earth.
00:23:17Lord, send out your spirit
00:23:19and renew the face of the earth.
00:23:23May the glory of the Lord endure forever.
00:23:26May the Lord be glad in his works.
00:23:29Pleasing to him be thy name.
00:23:31I will be glad in the Lord.
00:23:35Lord, send out your spirit
00:23:37and renew the face of the earth.
00:23:44Our second reading of some of the first letter
00:23:47of St. Paul to the Corinthians.
00:23:49Brothers and sisters,
00:23:52no one can say Jesus is Lord
00:23:55except the Holy Spirit.
00:23:57There are different kinds of spiritual gifts,
00:24:00but the same spirit.
00:24:02There are different forms of service,
00:24:05but the same Lord.
00:24:07There are different workings,
00:24:09but the same God
00:24:10who produces all of them in everyone.
00:24:13To each individual,
00:24:15the manifestation of the spirit
00:24:17is given for some benefit.
00:24:20As the body is one,
00:24:23though it has many parts,
00:24:24and all the parts of the body,
00:24:27though many,
00:24:28our one body,
00:24:29so also Christ.
00:24:32For in one spirit
00:24:33we were all baptized
00:24:34into one body,
00:24:36whether Jews
00:24:37or Greeks,
00:24:39slaves
00:24:39or free persons.
00:24:41And we were all given
00:24:43to drink
00:24:44of one spirit.
00:24:46This is the word of the Lord.
00:24:48Thanks be to God.
00:25:03Please rise.
00:25:04All in the...
00:25:06Oh, sorry.
00:25:07I messed it up.
00:25:08Please be seated.
00:25:11See what happens.
00:25:13We'll now recite the sequence
00:25:15for this wonderful feast day.
00:25:18Come, Holy Spirit, come,
00:25:21and from your celestial home
00:25:23shed a ray of light divine.
00:25:25Come, Father of the poor.
00:25:28Come, source of all our store.
00:25:30Come, within our bosom shine.
00:25:32You of comforters the best,
00:25:35you the soul's most welcome guest,
00:25:37sweet refreshment here below.
00:25:40In our labor,
00:25:41rest most sweet,
00:25:42grateful coolness in the heat,
00:25:45solace in the midst of woe.
00:25:47O most blessed light divine,
00:25:50shine within these hearts of yours
00:25:52and our inmost being fill.

00:27:39Alleluia.
00:27:40A reading from the holy gospel
00:27:41according to St. John.
00:27:44Glory be to you, O Lord.
00:27:46On the evening of that first day of the week,
00:27:49when the doors were locked
00:27:51where the disciples were
00:27:52for fear of the Jews,
00:27:53Jesus came and stood in their midst
00:27:56and said to them,
00:27:57Peace be with you.
00:28:00When he had said this,
00:28:01he showed them his hands and his side.
00:28:04The disciples rejoiced
00:28:06when they saw the Lord.
00:28:07Jesus said to them again,
00:28:10Peace be with you.
00:28:12As the Father has sent me,
00:28:14so I send you.
00:28:16And when he had said this,
00:28:18he breathed on them
00:28:20and said to them,
00:28:21Receive the Holy Spirit.
00:28:23Whose sins you forgive
00:28:25are forgiven them.
00:28:26Whose sins you retain
00:28:27are retained.
00:28:29This is the gospel
00:28:30of the Lord.
00:28:32Praise be to you,
00:28:34O Lord Jesus Christ.
00:28:45Holy Spirit,
00:28:49come we ask you,
00:28:51Sailing grace we need from you.
00:28:56Through this heavenly revelation,
00:29:01May our stubborn will be moved.
00:29:07May we fully comprehend,
00:29:12Guided by your constant hand,
00:29:17Standing on your words of promise,
00:29:23We confirm and praise your goodness.
00:29:29Come, Holy Spirit,
00:29:31and kindle hearts of thy faith
00:29:32with the fire of thy love.
00:29:43There are different kinds
00:29:45of spiritual gifts,
00:29:47but the same spirit.
00:29:49There are different forms
00:29:51of service,
00:29:52but the same Lord.
00:29:54There are different workings,
00:29:56but the same God
00:29:58who produces all of them
00:30:00in everyone.
00:30:02To each individual,
00:30:03the manifestation of the Spirit
00:30:05is given for some benefit.
00:30:08In the name of the Father,
00:30:09and of the Son,
00:30:10and of the Holy Spirit.
00:30:11Amen.
00:30:13My dear brothers and sisters,
00:30:15as we celebrate
00:30:16this glorious feast day,
00:30:18we step back
00:30:20to that upper room.
00:30:22The doors are locked.
00:30:23Yet Jesus enters,
00:30:25and he breathes on the apostles,
00:30:29gathered there,
00:30:30giving them power,
00:30:32and giving them authority.
00:30:34Today, 50 days after the momentous
00:30:38resurrection of our Lord,
00:30:40and 10 days after his glorious
00:30:43ascension into heaven,
00:30:45the Holy Spirit fills
00:30:47that same upper room,
00:30:49and descends on all who are there.
00:30:52from there,
00:30:55through the work of the apostles,
00:30:57the Holy Spirit flows out
00:30:59into the street.
00:31:01He breaks out
00:31:02from that upper room
00:31:04and goes out
00:31:05into the street.
00:31:08By the end
00:31:09of that very day,
00:31:11as Scripture tells us,
00:31:14about 3,000
00:31:16persons
00:31:17were added.
00:31:18about 3,000
00:31:20persons
00:31:21were added
00:31:22to the body of Christ,
00:31:24to the kingdom
00:31:25of God.
00:31:27The church,
00:31:28then,
00:31:29in this very place
00:31:31today,
00:31:32continues
00:31:32to grow.
00:31:34The Holy Spirit
00:31:35is poured out
00:31:36from here
00:31:37and out
00:31:39into the streets
00:31:40from here.
00:31:41from here,
00:31:44by you,

00:31:46God has chosen,
00:31:48this happens.
00:31:50The Spirit chooses us.
00:31:54He chooses us
00:31:55because we are
00:31:57the perfect receptacles
00:31:59of the varied spiritual gifts
00:32:02he offers,
00:32:03the gifts that he gives,
00:32:06the service
00:32:07that we may do
00:32:09with the skills
00:32:10and abilities
00:32:11we have,
00:32:13the workings
00:32:14he calls us
00:32:15to perform.
00:32:18The Holy Spirit
00:32:19has benefits.
00:32:22He has a treasury
00:32:23of benefits
00:32:25for the 3,000
00:32:27and more
00:32:28outside
00:32:30these very doors.
00:32:33We are the ones
00:32:34who make it happen.
00:32:37All it takes
00:32:39is a simple welcome.
00:32:42All it takes
00:32:43is a kind
00:32:44invitation.
00:32:46All it takes
00:32:48is heartfelt words
00:32:50shared in conversation.
00:32:52A prayer
00:32:54offered for someone.
00:32:56A hand
00:32:57that is held.
00:33:00And in the way
00:33:01power
00:33:01is shared
00:33:03through trust
00:33:04and mutual
00:33:05respect.

00:47:39by which he joined himself
00:47:41with them spiritually
00:47:42and bodily
00:47:43in his whole being
00:47:44and abides with us
00:47:46forever.

00:47:48so sacred
00:47:49for all of humanity,
00:47:51Jesus took bread
00:47:52into his holy hands
00:47:53and looking up to heaven,

00:48:02and gave it to his disciples

00:48:07and eat it,
00:48:08for this is my body
00:48:10which is given
00:48:11for you.
00:48:25when supper
00:48:26had ended,
00:48:27he took the cup
00:48:28in the same way
00:48:29he gave you thanks,
00:48:31blessed it,
00:48:32and gave it to his disciples
00:48:34saying,
00:48:35Take this,
00:48:36all of you,
00:48:37and drink from it,
00:48:38for this is the cup
00:48:39of my blood,
00:48:40the blood of the new
00:48:42and everlasting covenant
00:48:43which shall be shed
00:48:44for you
00:48:45and for many
00:48:46for the forgiveness
00:48:47of sins.
00:48:48As often as you do this,
00:48:50do it in remembrance
00:48:51of me.

00:49:24on these offerings
00:49:25and accept them

00:49:41in heaven,
00:49:42so that we who receive
