00:00This is Straight Outta Flushing, brought to you by your local Ford stores.
00:04Ford F-150 is the official truck of the New York Mets.
00:09I'm not trying to buy into what I believe still very well can be fulls gold,
00:13but Sean and I did have himself a good outing,
00:15and I would give a tip of the cap to Sean going six strong innings.
00:18The first time since the 2024 season that he's done that for the New York Mets, okay?
00:22Of quality, mind you.
00:23So it's a shame the Mets did not have the runs that they were looking for, obviously,
00:27but it was great to see Sean obviously do what he needed to do
00:30to get the job done for this Mets team.
00:33If you had to give me one player in particular out of this entire series
00:38that you were most encouraged by
00:40and one player that you were most discouraged by,
00:43who would those individuals be?
00:48I think the easy answer would be A.J. Ewing in terms of encouragement,
00:52but I actually was so glad you brought up pitching and brought up Sean Minaya.
00:55I'm going to say Sean Minaya.
00:58Now, it's small sample size, but you haven't seen that from him.
01:01I've been a little bit worried, and I talked about this on last week's episode,
01:04what are the Mets going to do with either him or David Peterson, right,
01:09and how they use them.
01:10So seeing Minaya in the middle game of the series, they don't get the win,
01:14but seeing him give that length is huge,
01:16especially when we just talked about Freddy Peralta,
01:18who today had a nice bounce-back performance.
01:20I understand he only gives you five innings,
01:22and he did throw 90 pitches in those five innings, 55 of them for strikes.
01:25But, look, you're going to need some length out of his pen.
01:31Minaya's velocity has been upticking.
01:33We've seen that with him, and that is slightly encouraging
01:36because we were not believing that he could get it done throwing 91,
01:4090 miles per hour.
01:40We know that's not going to get it done today, Wardy.
01:42We've talked about this.
01:44We could have kept Jose Quintana if we're really worried about this.
01:47You know, like, come on.
01:48We could have done that again, right?
01:50So to see him give innings, because the thing is with him now,
01:54you're starting to think, okay, is he a guy that can get to the lineup twice?
01:58And then, dare I say, he even started a third time.
02:00He has not looked like that since 2024.
02:03He has not looked like that.
02:04Now, I understand the health and all that,
02:06so it's an encouraging sign.
02:07Now, if you think that he can help stabilize the Mets rotation a little bit more,
02:12this is dope.
02:14I've got to see more, so I'm slightly encouraged,
02:16ever so slightly encouraged.
