00:00We could talk about the elephant of the room or the polar bear in the room in this case.
00:04How do you think they're going to handle Pete Alonzo's future?
00:07We saw what they went through with him last offseason.
00:10Do you think bringing him back is realistic?
00:13And is it the right move for this team long term to try and bring him back?
00:18Yeah, and that's a tough question.
00:20And I think it's realistic that he comes back just because of his popularity with the fan base.
00:28And listen, he played well offensively.
00:32There would have been, I think, a pretty sizable hole in that lineup if they had moved forward with the plan B,
00:41which was to let Mark Vientos play first base if Alonzo didn't come back.
00:47So, you know, and Alonzo, to his credit, went out and had a big year, not only with the home runs.
00:55He hit 38, but, you know, his batting average was up.
01:00His OPS was up.
01:02It was a good year offensively.
01:04The problem is defensively we saw him decline a little bit more.
01:09And he's up in his 30s now.
01:11And, you know, you're going to be talking about a contract with some length here.
01:16And he may be, you know, ideally suited as a DH already, never mind what he might be a year or two from now.
01:25So this is another tough one that we're going to have to walk here.
01:31And end of the day, I think he's still a med, but, you know, we'll have to see.
