00:00This is Straight Outta Flushing, brought to you by your local Ford stores.
00:04Ford F-150 is the official truck of the New York Mets.
00:09How we doing, everybody? It's Tyler Ward here, a.k.a. Wardy.
00:12To many of you guys who know me here on YouTube,
00:14co-host of the Straight Outta Flushing podcast with the ever-so-amazing Dexter Henry.
00:18And we have ourselves a really euphoric episode of Straight Outta Flushing to break down.
00:23Because even though the New York Mets just took two out of three against the Atlanta Braves,
00:27another team, an orange or blue, just took over the entire state of New York.
00:31We're going to break down our initial reactions to the Knicks,
00:33obviously winning the NBA Finals for the first time in 50-plus years,
00:36as well as the Mets finally having some positive vibes on their front,
00:40taking two out of three against their arch rivals in the Atlanta Braves.
00:44Who are the key standouts? Who are ones that we expect to continue to step up?
00:48Could this be the start of the turning of the tide
00:50and what has been such a long start to this Mets season?
00:54That is what we're going to get into, everybody.
00:55So let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
00:58Make sure to subscribe for all things Mets here on the New York Post Sports YouTube channel.
01:02And Dexter, my friend, the man of the hour, talking all things Knicks.
01:06How are we feeling this evening?
01:09Amazing, man.
01:10Last, we were recording this Saturday night.
01:13Oh, man, Saturday night was a night I will never forget.
01:17I know a lot of New Yorkers, a lot of Knicks fans feel the same way.
01:21It's just amazing.
01:22I mean, I'm blessed to do a show on the Knicks and cover the Knicks and been doing it for
01:27the last three years
01:28and to see this moment where they win and the way this team won, how dominant they were, the resiliency.
01:35Man, it's just something I'll never forget.
01:37From all the watch parties we did, all the episodes we did this year, the film breakdowns.
01:42Man, what a ride, man.
01:44What a ride.
01:46Somewhere, and I said this on our live show last night, I think the 11-year-old kid in me
01:52that watched this team lose in 1994,
01:55blow a 3-2 lead, if you would have told me it took 32 years to get back to see
02:00the Knicks win,
02:01I would have been like, really?
02:03But, man, what a ride.
02:06It's just been fun, man.
02:07I'm excited about some of the coverage we have coming later this week because basketball never stops.
02:11But, whew, the city was on fire last night.
02:14Some places, not so good.
02:15People doing too much.
02:16But I really love just seeing the joy around New York.
02:19It was good.
02:20I was out for a little bit in the Lower East Side, and it was really good to see just
02:24people just happy about the Knicks.
02:25It was really beautiful to see.
02:27As someone who's never gotten a chance until present day witness one of my top New York teams win a
02:32championship,
02:33I was really a sight to behold to see just the entire city take over.
02:37Like, that was an expectation.
02:38We knew people were going to go mad.
02:40I was sprinting with my brother in the streets straight out of, like, a Marty Supreme moment from after Game
02:454
02:45when they took and had the huge comeback.
02:47So, like, I was there.
02:48I wasn't there for them to actually win it all for Game 5.
02:51But still, I can only imagine what that environment was like
02:55and how it's going to continue to be throughout the week as we get set for the parade on Thursday.
02:58So, I understand this is not a Knicks-related show,
03:01but I think it goes without saying any New York-related show you're probably listening to right now
03:06at least has a couple two cents on a Knicks championship.
03:09If you would have told me five years ago that the New York Knicks would be the first team
03:14to bring a major championship back to New York, you know, like WNBA's side for the first time since the
03:18New York Giants,
03:19I would have said, I have a million bridges to sell you.
03:22And now here we are, the New York Knicks, our top dog in more ways than one.
03:26Absolutely insane.
03:27Yeah, I would have, there's teams I would have put ahead, I know fans of this show are not going
03:31to be happy to hear me say this,
03:32but you probably would have put the Yankees ahead, you probably would have put the Rangers where they were five
03:36years ago ahead.
03:37Agreed.
03:38Maybe, yeah, I would have, even then, I don't know if I would have put the Liberty ahead at that
03:42time,
03:42and even though they got one, I, yeah, maybe the Knicks would have been third,
03:47but five years ago, because they were, they just got back to the playoffs, they were kind of,
03:51but to see what they've done in five years, that's the point, Wardy, like what they've done in five years,
03:55how they've built slowly, made the right moves, made some amazing trades, took steps,
04:01got to the semifinals, conference finals, then the finals, and winning it all, it's, yeah,
04:08you, you'd have sold some bridges, man.
04:09You'd have, you'd have sold some bridges.
04:11Shout out Mike Brown.
04:12I love the hire when it happened.
04:13I love him during his time with the Canes.
04:15Great offensive mind.
04:16I love the fact that he was just that final piece for them.
04:19That's awesome to see.
04:20But if you guys want more Knicks coverage, check out Dexter,
04:23because he has all the next coverage that you need here on the New York Post Sports YouTube channel
04:26at New York Got Game, among many other awesome segments that you guys will see
04:30throughout the course of the summer.
04:31But let's talk about the other team in orange and blue,
04:33the one that you likely clicked on this video for, and that's the New York Mets.
04:37And listen, it's back-to-back weeks where the New York Mets find themselves at a 500 record decks,
04:41right, on the road trip, they went three and three, didn't look good in Seattle,
04:44looked a lot better in sunny San Diego.
04:46I still wish I was there.
04:48Now fast forward for their homestand, and you see them, you know, not look so good,
04:51but then look so good against an Atlanta Braves team.
04:54You know, I was hosting an event at Citi Field for my annual awardee day that I do,
04:58and that was for the series opener against the Braves on the 12th.
05:02Great initial win for the Mets to secure that 7-5.
05:05Didn't have a great second game with Mark Vientos back in the line,
05:07but the Mets were not able to hit that we saw dropping 3-1 or so yesterday
05:11on the day of the Knicks clinching and winning it all.
05:13And then today, a nice, comfortable 8-1 victory against these Atlanta Braves.
05:18Are you, believe, the best team in baseball right now?
05:20So, Dex, starting with you, what is your biggest takeaway from the New York Mets
05:24finding some more consistency headlined by the Young Guns continued
05:28in A.J. Ewing and Carson Bench?
05:30Yeah, I mean, I think overall for me, Wardy, it's going to be that you're starting
05:35to see some guys, their bats starting to wake up.
05:38I think that's the thing for me that I'm liking what we're seeing
05:42because we've talked about this for so much of the year, right?
05:45And I was talking about it last week with our guy Andrew Claudio from the Jets
05:48Mets podcast, and it's that, listen, the problem with this team has absolutely
05:52positively been the bats, and it's been the offense.
05:55It's been how inconsistent the offense has been.
05:57But you're seeing what Bo Bichette, he's done over the last eight, six games,
06:02excuse me, since June 8th.
06:03He's hitting seven for 24.
06:04He's got four extra base hits.
06:05That's the thing with him.
06:06We haven't seen the extra base hits from him.
06:08He's scored six runs.
06:10He's got eight ribbies.
06:11So maybe he's starting to heat up.
06:12We know what Juan Soto has done.
06:14He's been pretty much the guy to try to carry this team.
06:17Try is the key word to carry this team all season long when he's been healthy.
06:21Nine for 20 since June 8th, right?
06:24He also has four extra base hits.
06:26He's been getting on base, which we know we can do with the five walks.
06:2917 total bases, four runs, four ribbies.
06:32And then, look, the guy who really was a star on Sunday was a hit shy of the cycle there,
06:39and that's A.J. Ewing, right?
06:41Six of 20 in that same time span, four extra base hits as well, 12 total bases, three runs,
06:47two ribbies.
06:47It's that guys are now getting on base.
06:50They're starting to hit.
06:51You're seeing the extra base hits.
06:53That's something we just really weren't able to see with this Mets team.
06:56For them to have two games in the series where they won and they have 15 runs total,
07:01that's, whew, we haven't seen that all season with the Mets.
07:05So I think those are the biggest takeaway for me is that it appears,
07:07I'm being very cautious here, appears some of the bats are starting to wake up.
07:12And I didn't even mention Carson Bench, who we know has really still been hitting consistently
07:16and still looking like a player out there.
07:18So if the Mets can get this production out of their young guys,
07:21if you can have a Bo Bichette, who is so key to the Mets turning this thing around offensively,
07:26if he can start to keep it going, then I think the Mets will be fine.
07:31I mean, Bo Bichette's really the major story for me.
07:33He's got to start to hit to the back of his baseball card.
07:35He's got to start to look like the player that the Mets knew they were getting here,
07:39especially as they inch towards it being closer to us seeing Francisco Lindor return to this lineup.
07:44So when he does come back, it doesn't feel as though there's as much pressure on him to produce
07:49if other guys are already hitting.
07:51So that's the encouraging thing to me, mostly in this series against the Braves.
07:54No, I agree.
07:55And, you know, to stay on the topic of Bo, I thought it was fitting.
07:58I was asking Mets fans around me, one player in a short form video,
08:02that would be dropping on my platform, of one player that they would be content with the Mets parting with.
08:07And a player that was brought up frequently in the beginning of that conversation was Bo Bichette, believe it or
08:11not.
08:12And how fitting that that was, what, a half hour prior to Bo heading not one but two home runs,
08:16six RBIs in that same game with the Grand Slam.
08:19I mean, a tremendous game for Bo.
08:21And we're finally starting to see that level of consistency with him over the past week and a half to
08:26two weeks now.
08:26That's been awfully encouraging because, again, you're throwing $42 million gross at a player for a reason.
08:31And Bo is showing you now, finally, better late than never, that, yeah, I am that guy.
08:35Let me go out and prove to you that I am that guy.
08:37So Bo is doing his part now.
08:39That's awesome.
08:40Ewing and Benj, I mean, literally, back in the San Diego series finale, I was there.
08:43Carson Benj, historic five-for-five game, one hit away of the cycle.
08:47And now, not even a week later, A.J. Ewing essentially doing the same thing.
08:50Like, there's so many similarities with these players that we've known about.
08:54And going back to the beginning of the year, Dex, where I reaffirm how Benj carries himself not too high,
08:59not too low.
09:00Ewing's in that exact same category.
09:02Like, the poise of these young players has been so enticing to see.
09:04It's been obviously something that has been infectious to other parts of this Mets' life with their ability to constantly
09:10put the ball in play.
09:11This series finale was my big takeaway.
09:13It wasn't just an 8-1 victory.
09:14They got on a Bryce Elder, who's been one of the better starters in all of the National League.
09:18I mean, he had to start with just over a 2-year array.
09:21They skyrocketed.
09:22They got six runs across 10 hits.
09:24They basically inflated his array by a full run.
09:26And that's huge, especially not only do that against Elder, but a Braves team that we could have fully expected
09:32getting slaughtered at home at Citi Field.
09:34You know, losing two out of three or getting swept and not at all being surprised by it.
09:38So, for the Mets to play up a bit to this competition, especially this kind of rival, is encouraging.
09:42And between the offense that was certainly standing out, Juan Soto has been playing like a man possessed.
09:47Had a little bit of a slow start for a couple weeks ago, like three for 30.
09:51And then he really picked it up now over the past week and a half, which has been awesome.
09:55He's looked great.
09:56And then you also look at, you know, even though he didn't do too much of the series, Francisco Alvarez
10:00returned that level, that impact that that has on your lineup one through nine.
10:04Brett Beatty, himself a very productive series that we saw.
10:07Marcus Simien has been watching the ball out here.
10:09So, there's been a lot of encouraging signs offensively.
10:12And then pitching-wise, Dex, that's been another standout because Freddie Peralta, I understand, is not going deep the way
10:18that maybe some Mets fans would like to see.
10:20It's part of his game, though.
10:21And he gave you five rock-solid innings, bouncing back from his worst start as a New York Met about
10:26a week ago.
10:27He's about that as much.
10:28I mean, still walking everyone the mother a little bit, which wasn't great in the opening game of the series.
10:33He was not too happy with Mendoza being pulled when he was.
10:36But it was a justified pull.
10:37You know, for as much as I have given flack to Mendoza as Mets manager this year, I've been very
10:42open and blunt about that.
10:43That was a decision that I did not fault Mending the slightest.
10:45I thought it very much made sense in that moment.
10:47And I'm glad that they did it.
10:49Devin Williams has shown his mental fortitude continued, getting that clutch save in the game-one victory after Brooks really
10:56didn't have his sharpest stuff.
10:57The Mets offense wasn't there in game two, which was unfortunate with a lineup that was head-scratching Dex.
11:03I don't know if you recall, but the Mets just had a lot of guys in there that, you know,
11:07like the Eric Wagamans, the Mark Vientos, et cetera, because you wanted that righty-lefty matchup so bad.
11:12But it's like just because you want a righty-lefty matchup doesn't mean that these guys are justified at being
11:16here, especially if you have guys in your roster that can say hit lefty-lefty decently at least.
11:21And, you know, Vientos swinging and missing the Mets offense to not prevail is what is.
11:26Taking two out of three against the Braves is never something to complain about.
11:29But pitching, the Mets bullpen, absolutely nails.
11:33The offense did what they needed to do.
11:35They had to score the Braves 16-9 or so throughout this series matchup.
11:39And now we know that they have a bit of a daunting task upcoming.
11:42I'm not trying to buy into what I believe still very well can be full school.
11:46But Sean and I did have himself a good outing.
11:48And I would give a tip of the cap to Sean going six strong innings.
11:51The first time since the 2024 season that he's done that for the New York Mets, okay, of quality, mind
11:56you.
11:56So it's a shame the Mets did not have the runs that they were looking for, obviously.
12:00But it was great to see Sean obviously do what he needed to do to get the job done for
12:05this Mets team.
12:06If you had to give me one player in particular out of this entire series that you were most encouraged
12:13by
12:13and one player that you were most discouraged by, who would those individuals be?
12:21I think the easy answer would be A.J. Ewing in terms of encouragement.
12:25But I actually was so glad you brought up pitching and brought up Sean Minaya.
12:28I'm going to say Sean Minaya.
12:31Now, it's small sample size, but you haven't seen that from him.
12:34I've been a little bit worried.
12:36I talked about this on last week's episode.
12:37What are the Mets going to do with either him or David Peterson, right, and how they use them?
12:43So seeing Minaya in the middle game of the series, they don't get the win.
12:47But seeing him give that length is huge, especially when we just talked about Freddie Peralta,
12:51who today had a nice bounce-back performance.
12:53I understand he only gives you five innings, and he did throw 90 pitches in those five innings,
12:5755 of them for strikes.
12:58But, look, you're going to need some length out of his pen.
13:03Minaya's velocity has been upticking.
13:06We've seen that with him, and that is slightly encouraging
13:09because we were not believing that he could get it done throwing 91, 90 miles per hour.
13:13We know that's not going to get it done today, Wardy.
13:15We've talked about this.
13:17We could have kept Jose Quintana if we're really worried about this.
13:20You know, like, come on.
13:21We could have done that again, right?
13:23So to see him give innings, because the thing is with him now, you're starting to think,
13:28okay, is he a guy that can get to the lineup twice?
13:31And then, dare I say, even start a third time.
13:33He has not looked like that since 2024.
13:36He has not looked like that.
13:37Now, I understand the health and all that, so it's an encouraging sign.
13:40Now, if you think that he can help stabilize the Mets rotation a little bit more,
13:45this is dope.
13:46I got to see more, so I'm slightly encouraged, ever so slightly encouraged.
13:51Discouraged this weekend?
14:00I mean, I've been discouraged with this guy throughout.
14:02It's probably Vientos in the coming back.
14:06I don't know how long his days are with this Mets team.
14:11You know, and maybe it's a little bit of discouragement because we know what the situation
14:15is with the Mets at first base.
14:17We understand with Jorge Polanco and him trying to rehab from his injury and trying to get
14:23back, the Mets need more production out of that spot.
14:26Vientos just hasn't.
14:27God, Jared Young.
14:28Jared Young, right?
14:30But see, that's the problem.
14:31I said this last week.
14:34Like, we can't rely on Jared Young.
14:38Like, that's the problem.
14:40What do you mean we can't rely on the KBO legend Jared Young?
14:43What is this?
14:46Nobody's trying to see that is what I'm saying.
14:49Nobody's trying to see that.
14:50And so I don't want to even put it all on Mark Vientos.
14:54Maybe that's unfair.
14:55But what I will say is the options that are being run out as first laid out options, not
15:02great right now for the Mets, right?
15:03You can't be encouraged about that at all.
15:06You can't be encouraged about that at all.
15:07I think I just want to go back some for a second.
15:10I think second on my encouragement list, probably after Sean Minaya, would have to be just how
15:13still the bullpen has been great.
15:16How you, I mean, I don't remember a time I felt really this good about a Mets bullpen
15:22leading up to the closer.
15:23Now, you still might have some shaky feelings about Devin Williams, and I still do, but
15:28because we know when he's on, he's on, though.
15:30That's the thing.
15:31It's like when he hunkers down, it's kind of like Edwin.
15:34It's like, we're game at night, but if he's locked, we're good, you know?
15:38Yeah.
15:38If you see Devin Williams take the mound and he puts the first two guys down on like eight
15:43pitches, you're like, oh, oh, we're good.
15:47We're in here.
15:48If, you know, it takes him 13 pitches and one of you walks, one of the batters, you're
15:53like, ah, anything can happen.
15:55Anything can happen here.
15:56But I do think the bullpen and all the arms they've had and how good the guys have pitched
16:00this year.
16:01I mean, Razavon's been good.
16:03AJ Minster's been great since coming back.
16:06You know, all the arms that they're able to throw out there is just really, it's this
16:10weird calm, I think, if you're a Mets fan, because you haven't had that and it's sort
16:14of the build up.
16:14Now you probably like a little bit more calm at the back end of the extreme back end of
16:19the pen, but, you know, hopefully this could be a strength for this Mets team, especially
16:24if they can get their offense going.
16:26If they can have their pitchers have leads before they hand it over to the bullpen, then
16:30maybe you can start feeling good.
16:32Because I think that's going to matter to them winning some more games.
16:34But yeah, that's my, and my encouragement would be Sean Minaya.
16:37My, the thing I'm not as encouraged about from this weekend series is the Mets options at
16:42first base.
16:42It's not, uh, not exactly what forms is there.
16:45What about you?
16:46The, uh, before I answer that, I'll just piggyback on the bullpen.
16:50Yeah, it has been nice.
16:51Even though I understand the Mets haven't had the most daunting schedule yet this season.
16:55It has been encouraging to see like the outings were AJ mentor, Brooks Raley, Devin Williams,
17:00and Luke Weaver all in there and being productive.
17:02Like, that's great.
17:03Cause that's what your hope was heading into the season.
17:05Hawaska Brazaban has been really carrying the weight in a lot of ways.
17:08He had a massive series for the Mets yet again.
17:10And like Braz has been this kind of rubber arm for them where they throw them in any
17:13scenario, whether he's going to spot start and maybe not have the best outing, or he's
17:17going to come in, you know, even if it's inherited runners and he's doing it better than what
17:20he was previously doing, which has also been nice to see.
17:23So yeah, the bullpen has been awesome.
17:24My biggest encouragement of the series, I'm going to go with Bo Bichette.
17:29I'm very happy that Bo is finding his swing again and is being that guy the Mets need
17:33him to be.
17:34If the Mets go anywhere this year, they're going to need everyone to obviously carry
17:38their own weight.
17:38And you need Bo to perform somewhat of the player that you were invested in initially.
17:43So if you get that kind of production out of Bo where he's, you know, pretty much a
17:47dynamic player more often than not on a daily basis, it, you will start to see, see the
17:52Mets find some steady consistency because at push comes to shove, they're not going to
17:56have too long of a gap where that's no longer the case.
17:59If he just finally is performing the way he's supposed to, basically, he doesn't need
18:03to be getting four hits every single night, nor does he need two home runs every night.
18:06But can you have more valiant quality at bats, which he's showing in real time he's now
18:11doing?
18:11That's great.
18:12So that's my biggest takeaway in the positive end.
18:15My most discouraging takeaway of the Mets in this series will probably have to be out of
18:20everyone and everything I think I'm going to have to go with here.
18:24Yeah, it's, it's tough to not look at Yentos, but I don't want to nitpick him because he
18:28had such a small role in this series.
18:30I think I want to go with someone who actually, um, I love, but I just want to see him
18:37hunker
18:37down a little bit more.
18:38The past month he's been up, down, up, down, up, down.
18:40Really?
18:41It's felt like, and that's actually my guy, Brooks Raley.
18:43Um, love, really love him to death.
18:45He's like, you got, you know how I feel about him.
18:47He's like all reliable to me.
18:48It's like one in doubt really out, but he didn't have a good out in the first game of
18:51the series.
18:52And he's also someone that has fluctuated what we've been getting.
18:56He's been bailed out a lot that we saw over the past month.
18:58I won't forget when Luke Weaver famously bailed him out on the subway series.
19:02And Weaver hasn't allowed a run since, you know, from Carson bench pulling a Castillo in
19:06the outfield to like bases loaded, no outs and comes Weaver and he's just dotting corners.
19:11So really he's had some help on his side, but I think the fact that I'm picking someone
19:15like Brooks really is my most discouraging pick when I could have picked maybe a bat,
19:19but I didn't step up much.
19:20That's okay.
19:21I think that's a good takeaway is that I really don't have a lot of negatives because it's
19:26extra.
19:26I don't know if, if the people watching this have been following up until today now, but
19:31we have been not overly optimistic to this point in the season.
19:34So yeah, not complaining one moment.
19:37No, the fact you're talking about Brooks really, who did have a rough outing on Friday, on Friday
19:42night in this, it, yeah, it's with that's, that's fine at this point.
19:48Listen, it's hard to have too many negatives when the Mets have been as terrible as they've
19:53been.
19:53And they took two out of three from arguably the best team in baseball right now.
19:57And now has handed that team their second consecutive series loss.
20:01So I'm not saying, Hey, look, the Mets are coming back to take the NL East.
20:05I'm not saying that, but you got to build somewhere and there's still, you know, they're back at
20:09the point.
20:09We're talking about seven games under 500, you know, their schedule is tough.
20:13I'm sure, which I'm sure we're going to get to.
20:15And, you know, can they now try to chip away and get closer to 500?
20:18That's the thing for me.
20:19Can they, can they do that?
20:20Wardy, that's going to be the major question with the New York Mets.
20:25Yeah.
20:25It won a major, I think one of many major questions for the New York Mets, but can they find
20:30this
20:30consistency?
20:31Can they play above this 500 ball right now that they've been doing the past number of
20:35weeks?
20:35These are all important things.
20:36And speaking of what they've been doing over the past number of weeks, let's talk about
20:40the week upcoming for the Smets team.
20:42Because as we know, they have a big road trip beginning this Monday.
20:46They're going in Cincy.
20:47They're facing a starter this week by the name of Chase Burns.
20:49He's kind of good.
20:50They also then are going to Philly and I will be there.
20:54Thursday might be the most bananas day imaginable.
20:57We'll see.
20:57You got the parade that I was trying to attend the first half of the day.
21:00I'm supposed to be reporting on field in the evening for Mets Phillies this Thursday.
21:04So we'll see what happens.
21:06But you got the Phillies gauntlet beginning Thursday, heading into Father's Day weekend.
21:10It's also my son's, Shay's birthday weekend.
21:13So it's going to be a very fun time.
21:15I got to ask you with this road trip upcoming, what is your road trip prediction decks?
21:21Let's maybe dial a little bit back from the hope of like, I don't know, seven and two.
21:25You said last time.
21:26Yeah, I did.
21:27I'm glad you brought that up.
21:29I don't know if I should be making predictions anymore because the last time I made a prediction,
21:33it didn't go out in the way that I would like it to.
21:36Well, did you have a Knicks finals prediction?
21:38I did.
21:39And I said Knicks in six.
21:40Okay.
21:41You know what?
21:42That's pretty close.
21:44Let's ride that wave.
21:45I said Knicks in six.
21:46Let's bring that good juju to the Mets now.
21:48All right.
21:48I'll try to do that.
21:50Look, here's the thing.
21:52Before I predict, what I will say is this.
21:56If you want to look at the Mets and you want to start looking at the standings and the wildcard
22:00standings, right?
22:00The Mets are five and a half back of the Padres for that final wildcard spot.
22:06One of the teams, the team that's right ahead of them right now is the Cincinnati Reds.
22:09Let's start with them first.
22:11And that's the team you play next year.
22:12You are a game and a half behind them.
22:15I think it's imperative if you take two out of three against them.
22:17If you want to move up, you got to start jumping ahead of some of these teams.
22:20If you get a sweep against Cincinnati, they haven't been playing well.
22:24They have some tough pitching matchups for the Mets on this road trip.
22:28As you said, starting in the opener in Cincinnati, the Reds have been 2-8 in their last 10 games.
22:34Can you jump on them, right?
22:36The Mets have won six out of their last 10 games.
22:38Can you really keep the good vibes going?
22:40If the Mets handle their business, and dare I say if they sweep the Reds, now going to Philadelphia where
22:45you may see them on Thursday, then you could be feeling good.
22:48But I think realistically, I try not to be too optimistic.
22:52You go 2-3 against the Reds.
22:54You go 2-3 against the Phillies here, right?
22:59We're talking about a 4-2 trip.
23:01That's what you want, okay?
23:03That's what you'd like.
23:06Listen, if the Mets can just tread water and stay 3-3 here, that's fine.
23:09But they've got to start getting the game.
23:11They've got to start getting the game because that takes two games off.
23:13You go up a 4-2 week, now you're five games under .500.
23:16If you could somehow start next week after Father's Day, you're five games under .500, you feel good.
23:22But I'm going to say – I'm going to go for the 4-2 trip.
23:27I'm going to say – this is crazy.
23:29I think the Mets are going to get a sweep in Cincy.
23:32Mets sweep in Cincy.
23:34Talk to me nice.
23:36I am.
23:37Sweep in Cincy.
23:39I think they lose two out of three to the Phillies, but they get to sweep in Cincy.
23:44Okay.
23:44And they leapfrog them.
23:46So maybe we'll have some good vibes coming out of that.
23:47That would be actually very fitting that it's like one really bad series, one really good one,
23:52just not to the extent of 3-3.
23:54I'm going to double up, and we're going to go 4-2 as well.
23:584-2 as well.
23:59I'm thinking 4-2 because I'm happy with how the offense is starting to show up,
24:03and they're going to two of the better band boxes in all baseball.
24:06Yes.
24:06First is Cincy, which is arguably the best.
24:08That is in Coors.
24:09And then Citizens Bank has always been a band box for anyone, especially the Mets.
24:13They're not unfamiliar there.
24:15So I think we're going to see a very entertaining week offensively.
24:19And this is all in the buildup, as we know, because what's June 20th, you might ask?
24:24Well, that is the target date for Francisco Lindor to return to the New York Mets.
24:28So maybe by the time we're talking next, Lindor is about ready to return to this Mets team.
24:34Game is set for the following week.
24:35We'll just have to wait and see.
24:36But Dex, I'm with you 4-2.
24:39And Mets fans, let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
24:41What is your road prediction for Mets team currently sitting 32-39, not looking great,
24:47not the worst they've been in this year, but also pretty much the same that they've been in for the
24:51past calendar month.
24:52So who would have thought?
24:54Let us know all your thoughts in the comments down below.
24:56Before we wrap it up, Dex, any final closing remarks regarding this amazing Mets team?
25:02Look, I'll say this.
25:03The time is now with this Mets team.
25:05The schedule isn't easy, but in order to get where you want to be, you did not feast in the
25:10early part of your schedule when it was against lesser competition.
25:13Now you're going to have to beat some good teams.
25:15You know, Cincinnati is going to be a test.
25:17No disrespect to them.
25:18They are also four games.
25:19They're four games under 500 right now, but they've been struggling a little bit later.
25:23Lately, if you want to, you've got to jump on the Cincinnati team.
25:27If somehow you can beat a Philadelphia team, you're going to have to beat good teams if you want to
25:31get back in this race.
25:32And the bats are going to have to start to heat up.
25:34You're right.
25:34They're going to the band boxes.
25:36I think that can bode well for this Mets offense and give them some more confidence that we have been
25:40seeing.
25:41But the time is now.
25:42This week, and I would say the following week, are going to be very, very important weeks to me in
25:48the Mets season.
25:48Basically, what I'm saying is how they close out the month of June is going to tell us a lot
25:52about whether this team is going to be serious or not.
25:54Or by the time we're around the All-Star break, are Rorty and I talking about buy or sell a
26:00little bit more?
26:01We're not hoping to do that, but it might be.
26:04These next two weeks are very critical for the Mets.
26:07Oh, undoubtedly.
26:08And we've been saying this for a little bit now, but now we're actually in the thick of it.
26:11Okay, we're two weeks away from July.
26:12We all keep saying, oh, it's too early for trade-in-line talk.
26:15No, we're actually right where we need to be now.
26:17So, locking everybody for better or for worse.
26:19We have a lot more to talk about regarding this New York Mets team.
26:22So, that is the ever-so-great Dexter Henry.
26:25I am Tyler Ward, and we are signing out here for the latest podcast covering all things Mets here on
26:30the New York Post Sports YouTube channel.

26:35Peace.
26:36Peace.
26:38Peace.
26:38Peace.
26:39Peace.
26:39Peace.
26:40Peace.
26:41Peace.
