00:00Should Sean Minaya still be in the rotation?
00:02No, he shouldn't still be in this rotation.
00:04That's a problem that I have, right?
00:06Because we saw Mets skipper Carlos Mendoza postgame last night
00:09at the time I was talking right now saying how he will be in the next turn
00:12in the order for the rotation.
00:13And on one hand, you say to yourself, you understand it
00:16because the Mets are so depleted right now.
00:18You already sent down Kodai Senga.
00:20All your veterans aren't performing.
00:21They can't rely on too many kids at the same time.
00:24But in that same breath, Sean Minaya is 3-8 or so this season.
00:27He hasn't went to the sixth inning once.
00:30He's allowed two home runs in three of his five outings or so,
00:33which has not looked good at all.
00:35So when you look at what he's providing,
00:37this is a guy that needs surgery at the end of the year
00:39with that loose body in his elbow.
00:41I think it's time to put him on the injured list now.
00:43I really don't see how much more the Mets are going to benefit
00:46by having almost a lock for a guy that's going to be giving them meatballs,
00:49batting practice over three to tops five innings every fifth, sixth day.
00:54And that's why this six-man rotation, I really do wonder at the Mets
00:58after maybe one more blunder and Minaya finally say to themselves,
01:01okay, now's the time that we're going to take him out.
01:03It should have happened probably two starts prior at minimum,
01:06but I feel that they're going to go down that route
01:08unless Sean finally proves himself the next time out there.
01:11I got a stat here for you.
01:12It says that early, in the first three innings, he has a 3.0 ERA,
01:17but then through four through six, he has a 10.34 ERA.
01:22So why, if you're Carlos Mendoza,
01:24why are you even still entertaining Sean Minaya being a starter in this rotation?
01:30I think it goes in direct, Tam, with what I just said.
01:32They don't really have any options left.
01:33That's the problem.
01:34You already called up McClain.
01:36You already called up Ton.
01:37You already called up Spro.
01:38All the guys that we talked in studio about previously before they got here,
01:41they're all doing their thing for the most part.
01:43But outside of that, the Mets don't really have another immediate solution
01:46in the farm right now.
01:48And when you look at not just Minaya's struggles,
01:50when you look at Kodai Senga's struggles,
01:52when you look at David Peterson, when you look at Clay Holmes,
01:54the commonalities every single veteran starter in this rotation
01:58has not been good for pretty much a month and a half now.
02:01And that's a major problem when you now have right around two weeks to spare to play,
02:05and you're just two games ahead now of the Giants in the wild card.
