00:00Candles illuminated the streets of Goodwood as relatives, residents and members of the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team gathered in
00:08hope and remembrance one month after Angelo Tobias Plaza was reported missing.
00:14His grandmother, Nisa Tobias, says the family plans to hold a candlelight vigil on the 11th of every month for
00:22the next year.
00:23For members of the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team, returning to the child's home was an emotional reminder of a
00:32case that has touched the entire country.
00:35It's kind of a little sad because, as I mentioned to one or two of our members and at least
00:40villagers, and when we go back to the house, you know, that was reported maybe Angelo was missing, you feel
00:46kind of, you know, a little slow down.
00:48We were going up very good and then you kind of, you know, you feel, you know, kind of a
00:54little emotion when you reach the house.
00:57It's kind of sad, but at the end of the day, the family can at least have some justice for
01:02baby Angelo.
01:03Adube says the family's presence at the vigil was a powerful show of unity.
01:09That was very important to show that we have the support and the family turnout as well, so that, you
01:15know, they give the support to the community, they give back to the community and as well they give back
01:19to the country to show that, you know, the outside are still seeking justice for Angelo.
01:25He says the case is also a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect the nation's children.
01:32A message echoed throughout the evening as candles were lit and prayers offered.
01:38Police officers also returned to the area during the vigil.
01:42We have to protect the young ones, fail to protect the young ones.
01:45Them are the future. We don't know what our future makes them, but we have to, at all costs, try
01:49to protect the young children of this nation and all nations at large because, as I said, they are the
01:55future of tomorrow.
01:56We all were small at one day and we were protected by our elders, parents and communities and we are
02:02asking everyone to do the same, protect the young one.
02:05Even with the passage of time, volunteers say they refuse to let Angelo's story fade from public attention.
02:13Well, we always have hope. We always have hope. You know, hope is something that we will never give up
02:18until we see the reality.
02:20You know, but presently we are still hope that, you know, he may alive some way and he may return
02:28at one day, right?
02:29Or at least this only get closure.
02:32Angelo's stepfather, Shannon Miller, has been charged with the murder and is expected to reappear before the Scarborough Magistrates Court
02:40in November.
