00:00Critical member of the Browns, I think critical,
00:03spoke with the media yesterday.
00:05I received a text from my friend Dave, and he said,
00:07are you going to talk about Paul D. Podesta?
00:09No, that's not the guy coming back.
00:12Instead, it's Quinchon Judkins.
00:14Better option, yes.
00:15I think it is a better option.
00:17I think that's a good thing.
00:19Quinchon coming back, and of course, we know he was seriously bashed up last year.
00:24He broke his fibula, and his ankle was all messed up,
00:28and he had surgery, and he was on a four- to five-month timeline,
00:32and he's back and appears to be good to go.
00:36He spoke with the media, talked about where his confidence level is after a surgery.
00:42Here's what he had to say.
00:43I would say confident.
00:45I know the work that I put in, so I'm prepared to just go out there
00:48and just put it on the field.
00:49Okay, that's what you want, Andy, right?
00:52Confidence in your work, confidence in your surgeons,
00:56confidence in your ability to impact the football team.
01:00He finished up with this thought about what the team's looking like,
01:05Browns-wise, with Todd Munkin running the show on the offensive side of the ball.
01:09Dano, cut three.
01:11As far as me, I just control the things I can control.
01:14You know, I just take it day by day.
01:16I try not to think about, you know, the future and different things,
01:19but I think what we have here is really special.
01:21What Andrew Barry has done and what Coach Munkin, he installs in us every day,
01:25I think is an attest to who we'll be as this football team.
01:28Okay.
01:28All right.
01:29I like it.
01:29One thing I think that we will see about Quinchon Judkins and Todd Munkin,
01:36I think they'll be a perfect mesh for each other.
01:39I think Quinchon will love playing in a Munkin offense,
01:43and Munkin has shown he knows what to do with a good running back.
01:48The last two years, he had Derrick Henry in Baltimore,
01:51and Derrick Henry ran for over 1,900 yards and just under 1,600 yards
01:56in his two years with Todd Munkin.
01:58First year in Baltimore, he had the Gus bus, Gus Edwards.
02:01Oh, yeah.
02:01And Gus had a big year with Todd Munkin, and this might be something we see here.
02:09In that first year in Baltimore, Todd Munkin had three running backs
02:14who had pretty good years, Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, and Keaton Mitchell,
02:19who was a young speedster type, you know, think maybe Dylan Sampson type guy.
02:24And I wonder if Todd's going to play Quinchon like Derrick Henry
02:30or if he's going to play Quinchon like Gus Edwards
02:35and go with three running backs more so than just one.
02:38But even when Derrick Henry got to Baltimore, he still used Justice Hill a lot.
02:46And other guys would get their snaps as well.
02:51Do you really think he's using three running backs?
02:53Well, he did in Baltimore.
02:56He did in Baltimore even though he had Derrick Henry.
02:58I'm assuming that you think the third is going to be Rocket Sanders, right?
03:01You love him.
03:02Well, he could be.
03:03You love him.
03:03Just admit it.
03:05No, I like big, strong running backs who can run guys over.
03:09Quinchon can do that.
03:11We'll see if he keeps going.
03:14But I think it's quite possible that he has guys that he can use.
03:20And I think he could go deep and use two or three guys here
03:24and not just rely on Quinchon, especially coming off the injury as he is.
03:28But I think –
03:29If I'm Quinchon, I just want to get back on the field and get hit first time.
03:33I think we hear that from players all the time.
03:36It's just they just want to go out there and get hit once
03:39and feel like, okay, I'm good, let's go.
03:42They need to test it.
03:45And I think his confidence level will even get better
03:49as he goes on through the season once he gets more comfortable post-surgery.
03:53When Todd was here as offensive coordinator under Freddie Kitchens,
03:56Nick Chubb had almost 1,500 yards.
03:59So the running game is a big part of what Todd Munkin wants to do,
04:03and I think Quinchon Judkins is a big part of that.
04:05He got injured in the 16th game last year, game 16,
04:09against Buffalo.
04:11And had he been able to stay healthy and finish that game
04:15and play one more, he might have hit 1,000 yards on the season.
04:18He went in the 8th, high 8th?
04:20Yeah, high 8th, and he averaged by 3.6 a carry.
04:23So you'd want to see that go up this year and behind an offensive line
04:27that will be, if nothing else, any healthier, you would assume,
04:31than last year's offensive line.
04:33It's quite possible.
04:34But I think Quinchon is with the right kind of coach to come up
04:40and have a really big year.
04:41If he's healthy and good to go, and he certainly seems like he is.
04:45But in three of the last four years where Todd Munkin was an offensive coordinator
04:52in the NFL, he had a running back gain at least 1,494 yards.
04:59Yeah, I'm excited.
05:00That was Nick.
05:01Although I'm not ruling Dylan Sampson out to be able to be that guy too.
05:05I don't think he'll be that kind of guy just because he's not the big bruising
05:10type of running back.
05:11Nick Chubb could pound the ball.
05:13Derrick Henry can pound the ball.
05:15I see Dylan Sampson being like Keaton Mitchell for him, Justice Hill for him,
05:22two guys that he had in Baltimore and used really well.
05:25Mitchell blew out his knee, and he's still coming back.
05:28He's now with the Chargers.
05:30But I can see Munkin incorporating several running backs.
05:34Why do you think he wanted to add a fullback?
05:38Because he had one in Baltimore and used him well?
05:42Yeah, it's been a while.
05:43I'm trying to remember the last fullback we had.
05:46Michael Burton, they brought him in from Denver.
05:48I don't know if they'll stick with it.
05:49I mean, it's easy to cut a fullback and then suddenly take one.
05:53I mean, if you feel like you've got enough extra offensive linemen,
05:56you could always throw one of those guys in as a fullback.
06:00You could always take a defensive lineman too.
06:01And that's been done before.
06:02Patrick Ricard was the fullback in Baltimore that he had,
06:04and you might remember he was a defensive lineman.
06:09I think he played nose tackle, and they converted him into a fullback.
06:13Well, Kevin loved doing that too.
06:14Kevin loved taking linemen and making them in a fullback.
06:16Dude was six.
06:17Ricard is 6'3", 300.
06:19And he's now –
06:21How about DeJuan Jones?
06:21He went with John Harbaugh to the Giants.
06:25I'll take Jones as a fullback.
06:27Wouldn't you?
06:28I'd like to run behind him.
06:32The last thing I would do to poor DeJuan Jones in his legs and knees
06:37would be make him a fullback.
06:38Could you imagine having – like, if you're Quinchon
06:41and you've got a fullback that steps in front of you that weighs 374 pounds.
06:46Okay, Andy, come on back now.
06:48Could you imagine that?
06:49You're going to tell me he couldn't bust open a hole.
06:52Dan, while you were busy in there.
06:54He could probably hit two or three defensive linemen.
06:56Andy went fullback.
06:58Okay, so other than long snapper, he went fullback.
07:02I mean, Todd Monken wants a fullback.
07:03Yeah, he's got one, Michael Burton.
07:05You missed this.
07:06He wants DeJuan Jones to move to fullback.
07:09375 pounds.
07:10You're going to tell me it wouldn't work one or two plays a game?
07:12You think he's explosive enough?
07:14He's got to make two steps and just blow someone off the line.
07:18Right, but, like, you know, you can't make two steps going pound, pound, block.
07:24Like, it's got to be faster than that.
07:25And have a defensive lineman hit your – you know, go at your knees from a running –
07:30I'm not against this.
07:31If he's explosive enough, Andy, I'd be tempted to go fridge with him.
07:34He just needs a little bit of zip.
07:35That's it.
07:35Not a whole lot.
07:36I'd be tempted to go refrigerator parry.
07:37He just needs a zip.
07:38He can go the other direction.
07:39Well, at the goal line, that might be a different story.
07:41This is – yeah.
07:42This is –
07:42You think Judkins is overrated?
07:44No.
07:44I don't.
07:45I think he had a really solid rookie year.
07:47I would have liked to have seen him run behind a healthier offensive line.
07:51That was obviously part of the issue last year.
07:53He can get the job.
07:54And we'll see where he goes.
07:55He's big.
07:55He's strong.
07:56He's fast.
07:57Think fans like him?
07:59I think fans – I won't say they're like Chris,
08:02but I think fans are this way on Quinchon.
08:05Hey, that was a nice debut.
08:07Can you do it again but maybe do a little better?
08:12I think fans like him.
08:14I wonder how his jersey sales are.
08:16That would let you know, wouldn't it?
08:18It's all about the jersey sales.
08:20I hate to say it's all about money, Jeff.
08:22It's all –
08:22It's about money, but –
08:23It doesn't matter.
08:26We'll see.
08:27We'll see how explosive Quinchon can be.
08:30That's the only factor.
08:31You know, like Derrick Henry's a big, big guy,
08:34but he's still pretty explosive.
08:37And when Nick Chubb was pretty explosive,
08:40and I wonder if Quinchon will be that kind of a running back or not.
08:44And it's tough to judge, I think, Andy,
08:47based on last year and the offensive line
08:50and the quarterback situation and everything else.
08:53You know, I thought teams were keying on Quinchon
08:56because they didn't think the Browns quarterback could beat him.
08:59And he still had a decent year.
09:02We'll see about the yards per carry.
09:04Jeff, can the Browns score more than 16 points a game this year?
09:06Andy, they sure as hell better.
09:07I'm sorry.
09:12I'm sorry.
09:12I need something to make me believe they can do that.
09:15That might be the most blunt thing you've ever said.
09:17It was just perfect.
09:19Well, I loved when Siciliano was with us at 11 o'clock
09:26and Andrew said, Denzel Boston, KC Concepcion,
09:31they look like the real deal.
09:35Now, we got to see it, okay?
09:38As Todd Munkin would say, you know, we don't have pads on.
09:41Yeah, that's...
09:42Wait a minute.
09:43I'm sorry.
09:43That wasn't Todd.
09:44We don't have pads on.
09:46We can't say it.
09:47Whatever Todd would sound like.
09:49Dan, you could do Todd better than I could there.
09:51I could try.
09:52My throat kind of hurts right now.
09:54Well, don't bother.
09:55Don't bother.
09:55Can I rain check it?
09:56Yeah, don't bother.
09:57Our social media matches are powered by
09:59Shiba Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
10:02Liam chimes in.
10:03Andy, he wasn't rostered as a fullback,
10:05but they did use Nick Harris last year.
10:07Oh, that's right.
10:08Yeah, he's right.
10:09Good call.
10:10Good call.
10:12Appreciate it, Liam.
10:14I just...
10:18I'm never in a hurry for football season to get here
10:21because it means summer's coming to an end.
10:24Okay?
10:24Just in big picture.
10:26But I can't wait until training camp starts.
10:28And I can't wait until we see this offense on the field.
10:32I want to see what Munkin can do with it.
10:34And I want to see Chudkins come back.
10:37I want to see Dylan Sampson.
10:39I want to see Concepcion.
10:41Can't wait to see Denzel Boston.
10:44I want to see Cedric Tillman in a different offense.
10:48Maybe with a different quarterback.
10:51I mean, this could get fun.
10:54I hope it gets good.
10:57Again, I said hope.
10:59I hope it gets good.
