00:00Good morning. Well, heat, humidity, sunshine and even some rain, it's all in the forecast over the next few days.
00:07But it is actually quite a chilly start in places this Sunday morning.
00:10The temperatures are rapidly rising though in that strong August sunshine, so a fine day to come for many parts
00:15of the UK.
00:16Plenty of hazy sunshine by this afternoon, just a buildup of high wispy cloud for some areas.
00:22Any showers across the northeast of Scotland will be turning lighter and more infrequent compared to on Saturday.
00:27But out towards the west, the cloud will thicken just sufficiently enough perhaps to bring one or two spots of
00:32rain across parts of Northern Ireland and the Irish Sea as we go towards the second half of the afternoon.
00:38But a warmer day to come for many parts of England and Wales, the mid-20 Celsius by mid-afternoon
00:43quite widely.
00:44And temperatures perhaps approaching the 30 degree mark just to the west of London, so a rather hot day to
00:49come here.
00:49Eastern coastal counties of England though will just pick up a bit more of an easterly breeze, so perhaps not
00:54quite as warm here.
00:55So through Sunday evening, the cloud continues to thicken across more northern and western parts of the UK, just bringing
01:01a bit of dampness and a bit of light rain at times here.
01:04But don't expect anything particularly heavy or persistent at this point.
01:08Holding on to some clearer skies across the north of Scotland, so here it will actually turn fairly cool.
01:13But for England and Wales, the heat and humidity will actually build really, so we're not going to see temperatures
01:19fall much below 17 or 18 degrees Celsius in some of our towns and cities.
01:23So certainly a more uncomfortable night for sleeping compared to on Saturday night.
01:28So a damp start to the day for some northern areas on Monday and some slightly heavier and more prolonged
01:34spells of rain developing across Scotland as this area of rain pushes northwards.
01:38It will stall probably across more northern parts of Scotland into the afternoon, bringing a disappointingly cool picture here.
01:44Outbreaks of rain or showers across parts of Northern Ireland and Southern Scotland as well, possibly turning locally heavy here,
01:50but also some brighter interludes.
01:51Most of England and Wales, though, will see a much hotter day compared to on Sunday, with plenty of hazy
01:57sunshine, temperatures widely into the high 20s, low 30s, and temperatures may well be pushing the mid-30s in the
02:04south-east of the UK.
02:07One or two isolated heavy showers or thunderstorms are possible later in the day, especially for western England, Wales and
02:13the Midlands, but these will be very hit and miss.
02:15Many places will stay entirely dry and not see these at all.
02:19So a much hotter day, as they say, to come compared to on Sunday, and this graphic really emphasises that.
02:25So temperatures jumping up possibly by 5 to 8 degrees across some eastern parts of England, but quite a really
02:31marked contrast between the north and the south on Monday.
02:35Temperatures potentially up to 20 degrees difference between central Scotland and the south-east of England, so a cooler day
02:42to come in Scotland.
02:43So a lot going on over the next few days, the potential for some welcome rain in places, but largely
02:49in the north and the west.
