00:00I'm Rob Taylor. A federal lawsuit over alleged inmate abuse at the Westmoreland County Prison has been settled.
00:07Let's get the latest from NewsRadio K2K's Tamira Rush in the newsroom.
00:10Rob, Westmoreland County will pay $20,000 to resolve a civil rights lawsuit filed by 52-year-old Keith Lilick.
00:17He claimed a jail guard assaulted him while he was being held at the county prison in 2023,
00:22leaving him with injuries to his face, head, and body.
00:25Attorneys representing the guards denied the allegations and argued there was no evidence to support the claims.
00:31The case was settled just before jury selection was set to begin in federal court.
00:36The settlement comes as Lilick awaits trial in August on separate charges accusing him of luring and sexually assaulting an
00:4411-year-old girl.

00:48Pittsburgh police are investigating after a man was found dead inside a garage.
00:52They found the man dead with traumatic injuries in the 5,000 block of Comrie Way in Bloomfield around 7
00:57o'clock Sunday night.
00:59Police say they're investigating the death as suspicious.
01:01The man is yet to be publicly identified.
01:04Residents in Clareton still under that boil water advisory this morning.
01:08Pan American Water says it's because of a power outage at a station that caused the loss of pressure,
01:12and that could have potentially contaminated the water.
01:15People are asked to boil the tap water for at least one minute or use bottled water until test results
01:20on the tap water are complete.
01:23Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison on violating federal identity theft laws.
01:2932-year-old William Knight, prosecutor said, participated in a rental car scheme,
01:32where Knight would purchase IDs and credit card numbers off the dark web and then rent vehicles from a rental
01:38car company.
01:38Many of the vehicles were rented to those involved in drug trafficking or other illegal conduct.
01:43The scheme occurred between October 2022 and February of 2023.
01:47Knight was sentenced on Wednesday.
01:49An employee of a rental car company was also involved in the scheme.
01:53State police trooper was injured while trying to arrest a man suspected of driving erratically on Route 28.
01:58Now, this happened Saturday night around 730.
02:01That state trooper pulled over a man driving a silver SUV on Route 28 in Harrison Township.
02:05When the officer had the driver, identified as 44-year-old Stephen Guthrie of Butler, exit the vehicle,
02:11police say Guthrie resisted arrest and then had to be physically restrained and handcuffed.
02:16And during that incident, the state trooper sustained minor injuries to his hand and below his eye.
02:20Police say Guthrie also threatened the officer while in custody.
02:24Guthrie's facing charges including felony aggravated assault and other misdemeanor counts.
