09:10interested to see how the new york knicks come out with this long layoff here rested and ready is that

09:20to be that's the the kicker right donnie because it's a very unique situation and i think it's going
09:26to be fascinating to see how this plays out again you've got a knicks team that hasn't lost since
09:31april and then you've got you know they but they haven't played since the 25th of may and every
09:37team that they've played it feels like along the way is coming out of some sort of seven game war
09:41in the previous series so you know they are they are certainly the fresher team the legs will be there
09:48the rust is a legit factor it certainly was in game one against cleveland but at the same time they

09:55have a 22 point comeback there in the fourth quarter with seven minutes to go we know what they're
10:01capable of but i do think this is a different animal here with the spurs they're on the road
10:06and the knicks didn't exactly have a great record all year round on teams over 500 so i think we're
10:12going to learn a lot here tonight between these two teams should be fun how about round number one
10:18knicks fans have to go to fire mike brown mid-series we're down 2-1 to the hawks this guy

10:23and now he could be the greatest knick coach in the history of the world if they can complete this
10:28victory coming up over the san antonio spurs and grab that elusive fourth game to get those rings

11:31think the coaching matchup is fascinating here i mean it's not like mitch got all this experience in
11:36the world and let's face it the knicks have been going through coaches left and right trying to
11:41find a guy that could push all the right buttons mike brown has pushed all the right buttons to this
11:47particular point some people watch jalen brunson like man what are those bloodlines here why is he
11:52so good well his dad was a great college basketball player and a very good nba player here's him talking
11:57about what it meant to watch his dad in the playoffs what does it mean to you and your family

12:03you and your dad 27 years apart are going to be the first players to ever play in the nba
12:08finals for
12:09the same team and did you attend any of those games or remember definitely don't remember um
12:19it's pretty surreal i'm not gonna lie it's um something i haven't really thought about um
12:25but i feel like once the season's over uh once the career's over it'll be times to
12:32think about the stuff that we're able to go through together but um it's definitely it's
12:37definitely a cool feeling by the way i tell you what's interesting there joe i was in college in
12:411999 uh senior year over the summer and i remember that series vividly between the new york knicks and
12:47the san antonio spurs if you remember it was a strike certain season i think it was a 50 game
12:51or so
12:51regular season knicks and the spurs in the final again didn't end up the next way but you thought like
12:56hey knicks are on the comeback trail and they'll be back in the finals and do damage and it's been
13:00quite a minute since that's been the case but it is interesting to see like hey you know what dad
13:04used to be in the playoffs and the finals do you remember not really that's how long ago brunson is
13:09in the nba flourishing as a superstar i was like i don't even remember when my dad played for the
13:13knicks and when we were in the finals can we please stop asking brunson every press conference
13:22to reminisce and look back and he gives the same answer every time i'm not thinking about that i'm
13:31thinking about the next game they'll come a time where i'll put everything in perspective and like
13:36yeah it's this why do we keep asking him like what does it feel like what is it like he's

13:41thinking about that you got nothing asked to ask jalen brunson donnie but what do you hey you know it's
13:49you're this and you're that you're the knicks you could be the greatest nick like can we please

16:33kicking off tonight kev how about that can't wait should be fantastic i feel like this is a
16:40heavily anticipated nba finals that we have on our hands you know we've had some great finals but
16:46sometimes the buzz going into it wasn't there let's be honest not everybody said nice things
16:52about oklahoma city versus indiana despite the fact that it was a really fun seven game series but
16:58nick spurs certainly has a level of juice that i think everybody's excited for
17:02let's have some fun with this because the nba is always like hey everybody you better take that
17:07nba cup seriously and what it means the knicks are like ain't hanging that banner let me tell you
17:12something kevin the knicks win the championship fresh off of we won this cup and we didn't hang
17:18the banner it's almost equivalent to like the masters tournament like hey i'm actually winning
17:21this par three on a wednesday i'm gonna put two in the drink just so i don't win it because

17:25stigma means you win this you can't win the masters does that have any daring effect on how the nba
17:30cup is because the knicks win is anybody ever going to hang that banner until the end of the
17:36season when you can put a footnote on your actual championship banner no again uh this matchup has
17:42done nothing but confirm that the nba cup is to be taken serious and any other opinion is quite
17:48frankly laughable well you said that you want regular i remember i think it was last season
17:54if the rockets lose to the warriors they better cancel the nba's regular season it's a two seed

19:04though we've gotten game sevens we got a lot of blowouts along the line here are we expecting
19:10a good series are we expecting much of the same where when a team wins they win by double digits
19:17what do you think we're getting here yeah i mean three points or less is a pretty high bar i

19:23um there has certainly been blowouts along the way that's basketball um i as someone who's on the knicks
19:32tonight plus five and a half there is a part of me that's like that's a waste of time you

19:40just be on the knicks money line or even as you know we've seen before the alt line right minus

19:47and a half the other direction which i may still end up you know uh playing here but i think

19:54series let's just say it goes six regardless of who wins you're probably going to get at least two
20:02games decided by 14 or more at least two games by you know single digits and then we see where

20:11rest lands but i also think like there were the spurs and thunderhead games that were decided by 15
20:18that we have superstars playing until the you know final two minutes of the fourth quarter so um yeah
20:25i'm not from a betting perspective it's interesting but from a watchability perspective i i've not had any
20:30issues here watching the nba postseason how about this kevin ben fox tweets out here one better at
20:36dk sports wagered 49 000 let's call it 50 grand or so on the new york knicks to win the

20:4119 to 1 a few weeks ago that bet would win 931 000 they take a look at the series

20:48let's call it a minus 190 favorite here on the san antonio spurs obviously 19 to 1 is absolutely
20:53spectacular you're coming into the finals but honestly what do we feel about the new york knicks in this
20:58series and roughly can they do some damage which means hang that batter they're favored
21:04they're the dogs they're not favored to do so yeah i think the home court advantage
21:09position san antonio is the favorites in this series but i still think the numbers
21:13are a bit too big and i've bet the nicks in a few different ways for this series and there's
21:19a couple
21:19of things that really stand out but the one that i'm curious where you guys land i think the nicks
21:25are better and i don't think that's disrespectful to san antonio the nicks obviously didn't have a
21:30better regular season but the new york mix very clearly turned the page in this postseason and i
21:39think one of the reasons it's it doesn't feel like some oh they're winning so they must have changed
21:46what they're doing i feel like we all noticed a real change in the nicks approach right bringing
21:51carl anthony towns into the offense the way that they did which made life easier on brunson it
21:58engaged mccall bridges and og ananobi more into the offense and therefore all these guys seem more
22:03engaged on the defensive side of the basketball the nicks have won 11 straight games do i think
22:08the nicks are the greatest team in the history of the sport which is kind of what they've played
22:11like for a month here no do i think the nicks though have a roster where it's reasonable to believe
22:17they're an elite basketball team absolutely 100 so they're playing the best basketball i actually
22:24think they're the better team and we've talked about this for the nicks in every round since round
22:29one they're not coming off a seven game war every other opponent they've gotten to play has been and i
22:35think that does set up quite nicely for new york and also kevin just looking at the series and how
22:41it
22:41plays out i do think the nicks get the advantage of playing a san antonio spurs team that maybe isn't
22:45ready to win yet sure they could win and they're favored to win a championship i get that but it's
22:50not as if like hey we finally got there lebron's in his prime or hey we finally got there the
22:54golden
22:54state warriors what are we supposed to do this is a legitimate chance for the nicks to steal game
22:58number one and home court advantage kevin yeah i actually think again not disrespectfully
23:04nicks minus two and a half on the series spread is a worthwhile wager it's at seven to one or

23:10better in some spots like the nicks could end this in five and it wouldn't stun me in the slightest

25:15now in san antonio in games uh versus portland 49 points i believe in the first half 45 points to
25:23minnesota in the first half 44 to oklahoma city are you seeing a trend here i don't think we're
25:29getting a high scoring game in the first half here the total is 112 and a half donnie i like

25:36under i think both teams are going to feel each other out i don't see tempo being there i don't

25:42the shots falling i see less points early more points in the second half but the sports folks
25:48trying to keep up with the county marketplace tonight investing in what game number one nicks
25:54versus the spurs joe i look at san antonio who is the favorite they're actually trading at a 63 percent
25:59chance there should be the chance of 63 percent but the contract is 64 cents that san antonio will win
