00:00One of the truly great moments yesterday watching the Knicks win the
00:03championship with Jalen Brunson and what he did.
00:06I started saying Isaiah Thomas and I was like, look, you know,
00:11you got a bunch of really good basketball players.
00:14And I know Joe Dumars was on that Pistons team.
00:17Dan Dockett's from Outkick joins us now here.
00:20And Dan, you know what?
00:20You see some of the comparisons a little bit there in what we saw there a
00:24little bit with potentially what Jalen Brunson did by leading that
00:28championship.
00:30Yeah, I said yesterday on Twitter, you know,
00:33three things hit me with Brunson.
00:35One, he should be the face of the NBA.
00:38I mean, he dominated that series and he's in New York and he won a
00:42championship.
00:45Two, he's the most clutch guy.
00:46I put him in there with Michael Jordan.
00:48I know, you know, all the people here in Indiana talk about Larry Bird and
00:52all that, but Michael Jordan to me is the most clutch guy and Brunson's right
00:56there with him.
00:57Now he's got to do it a little more to get to that level, but he's in,
00:59but to your point about Isaiah, you know,
01:03there's no way Legler or Richard Jefferson will understand this.
01:08Very few people do, but being a layup shooter,
01:12people think a layup is easy.
01:14It's, it's not easy.
01:15And I didn't realize it until I became a coach and started studying this kind of
01:19stuff.
01:19But being a layup shooter is really difficult,
01:23particularly now with the size and the length.
01:25And he,
01:26I always said Isaiah Thomas, best layup shooter I ever saw in my life.
01:30He can flip it up.
01:31He can spin it.
01:32He can go this way.
01:33He can turn it over.
01:35He can float it.
01:36He, there was a layup yesterday that very few,
01:39if any NBA players could make intentionally.
01:42And he was going to his left.
01:44He put his shoulder down.
01:45He went really hard and he had to get it up quick.
01:48And you almost fired at the backboard with touch and it spun.
01:51It was pretty amazing.
01:53It's a little bit in the woods for people,
01:54but Isaiah and Kyrie Irving was about second until now.
02:00It's astounding what Brunson is able to do.
02:03And he said something after Dan that told me exactly why he talked about all
02:08those days in the gym and all of us that played at a certain level and that
02:14level could be high school, but all of us that love basketball,
02:19everybody did the same thing, whether it's Michael Jordan,
02:21the greatest ever, whether it's me who was a mediocre college player or
02:25Brunson or y'all spent a lot of time with the ball in a basket dreaming.
02:30I got to shoot this over.
02:31I used to shoot it over guys at Gary Roosevelt high school and Gary
02:34Deanna when I was a kid, I'm going to make this over.
02:37And when Brunson said that it hit me, it's not a person,
02:41not with a personal trainer or not doing dribble drills through their legs
02:46with their penis around their back.
02:49It's ball stuff, man.
02:51And you could tell Brunson did that.
02:54And that was pretty cool to see.
02:55It was really, really good.
02:56So, yeah, that and the fact that he led a team that isn't going to have
02:59any Hall of Famers to a title like Isaiah did other than Joe Dumar is pretty good.
03:05So, yeah.
