00:00And help me out and, you know, make me understand this.
00:04Why would women Yama take the lesser of the super max deal where if he took
00:09the 30%, he would get to super max and he would get more.
00:13Obviously, I think it would be over $300 million.
00:16Instead he ended up taking the two 52 and it ends up saving really the Spurs
00:20money.
00:21Is he being a team friendly guy here trying to help build the roster and
00:26keep the roster intact?
00:27Or am I just being delusional on that?
00:30Here Jalen Brunson, Jalen Brunson.
00:36He did it first when Jalen Brunson took the $113 million lesson.
00:41Here's, let me explain it to people, how it works.
00:43What Brunson did and what Wembe is just doing is they're just signing their
00:47extension one year early.
00:50If they waited another year, they get more money.
00:53So what that does is that frees up flexibility for San Antonio to keep that
00:59young core together because they got to think about Castle, right?
01:04You know, what do you do when Dylan Harper, you just re-sign Champagny, you have Fox,
01:09you have Carter Bryant, the second year guy, right?
01:12You just drafted Tyrus Reid, the big man out of UConn.
01:16It allows them to kind of keep this together.
01:20What Jalen Brunson did, folks, is he broke the mold.
01:24And this is why the Knicks won the championship because he took less money in regards to
01:30signing his extension early to try and position his team for long-term success.
01:35Wembe is doing the same thing and you must give a guy credit.
01:41Now, there's one other caveat, folks, that you have to remember about Texas.
01:48No state income taxes.
01:52So he's going to maybe save San Antonio money, but he's not getting hit like he was in California
01:58or in New York.
02:00He's going to save money that way as well.
02:03And then the endorsements, you know, Wembe's, you know, people talk about him being the best
02:08player in the world right now.
02:09He's going to make up all that money and more and endorsements the same way Brunson's making
02:15it all up in New York City.
02:17I had a conversation last week with Kevin Walsh and I happen to know JJ Reddick very well.
02:24And he kind of got on my rear end a little bit for something I brought up last week.
02:28And I'm going to bring it up to you and you tell me if I'm crazy, coach.
02:32So I said one of the reasons that LeBron got pushed out of Los Angeles was because of Rob
02:40Palenka.
02:41You know, after they gave Reeves that contract and that extension, it didn't seem that there
02:45was a real welcome mat back there for LeBron and for Maverick Carter and those guys.
02:51And the word was, is that LeBron and those guys wanted two years at 50 million annually
02:57and he wanted a victory parade out the door.
03:00And Rob Palenka reportedly said, who do you think you are, Kobe Bryant?
03:05And that was one of the reasons that pushed him out the door.
03:08Coach, is that just hyperbole?
03:10Or are we looking at something there where Rob Palenka, again, he was never really embraced
03:15as a Laker, in my opinion.
03:17Maybe you thought he was, but, you know, I don't see him as Shaq, Kobe, or those kind
03:22of players that rolled in there.
03:23Do you?
03:24Well, here's the funny thing.
03:26Don't get our guy K-double fired about LeBron.
03:30That conversation could go left really, really quick.
03:34But let's put it this way.
03:35He was never considered like, he was considered a guy like Allie Guy.
03:40And you got to remember, the Lakers were no one, a terrible franchise, until LeBron went
03:46there.
03:47I don't care bubble or not, a chip is a chip.
03:50It's hard to get.
03:51And he's got to be respected for that.
03:53But because of the years he's been there, because of the fact that the Lakers really
03:58haven't been overly competitive the last couple of years in regards to being at the top of
04:02the Western Conference, he is kind of getting a mark against him.
04:05Big Seals, it didn't start with the Austin Reeds extension.
04:08It started with the trainer, Luka Doncic.
04:10And the Lakers looked and said, we have to find our superstar for the future at the end
04:17of LeBron's career.
04:18I'm going to say this.
04:19There is immense, and I mean immense pressure on Luka.
04:26All right?
04:27You go down the line from Jerry West to Wilt, to Kareem, you know, to Magic, to Worthy,
04:35to Shaq, to Kobe, to LeBron.
04:39You better bring a ring to LA, or they'll talk about you way worse than LeBron.
