00:00Yeah, the crowd is a part of the story.
00:04I think it's a part of what makes it such a legendary moment.
00:08The camera shaking is just one of the coolest things we've seen.
00:13It made Celebrity Row all feel worth it.
00:19Again, the comeback was incredible, but to your point, Coach,
00:23the fact that the fans stayed with the Knicks during the run
00:29is because the Knicks have shown them over the last two years
00:33you should stick with us during any deficit.
00:36And what's so odd about that element of this Knicks team,
00:41they did it last postseason too.
00:44It's not even a Mike Brown thing.
00:46I'm not saying Mike Brown doesn't get credit.
00:47Mike Brown's going to get plenty of credit, I think, on this show
00:50and for the rest of his life.
00:55Barring a disaster, Mike Brown's going to coach the Knicks for like a decade.
00:58So Mike Brown's fine, but it's not a Mike Brown thing.
01:01Like they completed 20-point comebacks under Tibbs somewhat regularly as well.
01:07It's incredibly impressive the heart and fight that this team shows.
01:14And there were a lot of big shots made.
01:18And I know that the Spurs offensive struggles, a lot of people blame San Antonio.
01:22And again, of course.
01:24But to give up 41 in the first quarter, 35 in the second quarter,
01:30and 30 in the second half is just one of the most –
01:37you will not see a single-game defensive turnaround like that ever in your life.
01:42It's almost impossible, Coach.
01:44Yeah, and listen, I'm going to say this.
01:48It takes two to tango.
01:50It does.
01:51And part of the reason why the Knicks were able to come back those two games
01:55against Boston, against San Antonio,
01:57is the three-point shot is the almighty equalizer,
02:03and it's the almighty destroyer, depending on which way you look at it.
02:0914 for 26 for San Antonio in the first half.
02:12They were hitting everything.
02:14Kevin, you know this.
02:16You watch as much basketball as I am.
02:19That's not sustainable.
02:22It was early shots.
02:24It was quick shots.
02:25It was, you know, it was so many things that San Antonio did wrong.
02:30And to me, their inexperience and their youth has been put on full display.
02:37You talk about having a team believe that they can come back.
02:43This may be too much for me, but I speak to the maturity of that roster,
02:48particularly those three Nova guys.
02:51Four-year guys.
02:53Pat is 28, 29.
02:56OG's a veteran.
02:57These guys have been up the climb, you know, had the comebacks, but remember 16-point lead
03:05versus Indiana, they've blown it just as well.
03:08They've learned from their mistakes.
03:10San Antonio is getting like baptism by fire.
03:14Like it's happening in front of their eyes.
03:16And every time you're like, okay, they figured out game one, they messed up.
03:21Okay, they figured out game two, dumb decisions game four.
03:26But then people forget the, uh, the game one against Minnesota.
03:29They did the same thing.
03:31They make mistakes.
03:33And sometimes you don't have to beat a better team.
03:37You got to be a team that's close enough.
03:40They can out execute the better team.
03:42And that's what the Knicks have been doing in this series.
03:45Here's another thing that has gone wrong for the Spurs.
03:48And quite frankly, I don't care if people disagree.
03:50And I know the Spurs would attempt to disagree with this.
03:53They entered this series with a complete lack of respect for the Knicks.
03:57And maybe now that's turned around, but it certainly didn't turn around in time.
04:04They were under the impression.
04:06People said this, okay?
04:08Let's not all, the NBA finals were the Western Conference finals.
04:12Okay?
04:13They thought that.
04:14So when they beat the Thunder, they thought they won the title.
04:19And when they lost game one, I was like, I don't even need to be good.
04:22I just got to be normal.
04:24It's like, what?
04:26World are you living in?
04:27What are you talking about?
04:29They blow it.
04:30Game two, right?
04:32And Kass was like, ah, we just gave the game away.
04:34It's like, oh, you know what?
04:36You're right, Steph.
04:37You're right.
04:38None of this has anything to do with the Knicks.
04:41Coach, you'll appreciate the comparison.
04:45John Calipari and the Platoon Squad Kentucky team, still the best college team I've ever seen,
04:51didn't win a national championship.
04:53The kids thinking they're invincible is acceptable.
04:57It's not acceptable when the coach thinks it.
05:00John Calipari thought they were invincible.
05:04He thought their opponents didn't matter.
05:06He made that clear in post-game press conferences after getting pushed by Notre Dame in the tournament.
05:12Mitch Johnson, it turns out, thought just like Wemby and just like Stephon Castle that the Knicks were an irrelevant
05:21party in this finals.
05:23Because otherwise, at some point, he would have turned this thing around and actually did a bit of coaching.
05:31But instead, he thought, you know what?
05:33I'll just throw Wemby in the game.
05:34That'll fix it.
05:35That's not coaching.
05:36How did Wemby play 44 minutes in a game you were up a gazillion and have no gas down the
05:43stretch?
05:43So, it is a team who entered in with not false confidence, but unearned confidence.
05:53And it has cost them time and again in this series.
