00:00The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says body-worn cameras will play a key role in strengthening transparency, professionalism and
00:09accountability within the police service.
00:11In a statement issued today, the TTPS said,
00:14The technology provides an objective record of interactions between police officers and members of the public, helping to support investigations,
00:24court proceedings and protect officers from false allegations.
00:28The service stressed that it is not opposed to the use of body-worn cameras and remains committed to implementing
00:36the technology as an essential component of modern policing.
00:41Police officials say work is already underway to procure and deploy the cameras, with considerations being given to procurement regulations,
00:50officer training, data management, privacy safeguards and legislative requirements.
00:55As part of the process, the TTPS has invited qualified firms to submit expressions of interest to supply and commission
01:04body-worn camera systems.
01:06The deadline for submissions is July 22, 2026, after which eligible firms will be invited to participate in the formal
01:15bidding process.
01:16The initiative forms part of the TTPS's wider transformation agenda, aimed at creating a more transparent, accountable and technology-driven
01:27police service.
