07:17They repay me evil for good and hateful love.
07:22Appoint an evil man to testify against him.

08:47so he has experienced no blessings.
08:51He has made cursing a way of life,
08:53so curses poured into his stomach like water
08:56and seeped into his bones like oil.
09:00May a curse attach itself to him
09:03like a garment one puts on
09:05or a belt one wears continually.
09:09May the Lord repay my accusers in this way,
09:13those who say evil things about me.
09:17O sovereign Lord, intervene on my behalf
09:20for the sake of your reputation.
09:22Because your loyal love is good, deliver me.
09:25For I am oppressed and needy

10:53Hear Yahweh's word, you children of Israel,

11:08There is cursing, lying,
11:11murdering, stealing, adultery.
11:13They break boundaries,
11:15and bloodshed causes bloodshed.

12:47Prostitution, wine, and new wine,
12:50take away my understanding.
12:53My people consult with their wooden idols,
12:56and answer to a stick of wood.
12:59Indeed, the spirit of prostitution has led them astray,
13:02and they have been unfaithful to their God.
13:06They sacrifice on the tops of mountains,
13:09burn incense on the hills,
13:12under oaks and poplars and terrapins,
13:15because its shade is good.
13:18Therefore, your daughters play the prostitutes,
13:20and your brides commit adultery.
13:24I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute,
13:28nor your brides when they commit adultery,
13:31because the men consult with prostitutes,
13:34and they sacrifice with shrine prostitutes,
13:37so the people without understanding will come to ruin.
13:42Though you, Israel, play the prostitute,
13:44yet don't let Judah offend,
13:47and don't come to Gilgal,
13:49neither go up to Beth-Avon,
13:51nor swear,
13:52as Yahweh lives.
13:54For Israel has behaved
13:56extremely stubbornly,
13:59like a stubborn heifer.
14:01Then how will Yahweh feed them
14:04like a lamb in a meadow?
14:06Ephraim is joined to idols.

14:13They play the prostitute continually.

16:18Since many have undertaken to set in order
16:21a narrative concerning those matters

16:34It seemed good to me also,
16:36having traced the order of things

17:07They were both righteous
17:09in the sight of the Lord,
17:11following all the commandments
17:13and ordinances of the Lord,

17:17But they did not have a child,
17:20because Elizabeth was barren,
17:23and they were both now very old.
17:27Now while Zechariah was serving
17:29as priest before God,
17:31when his division was on duty,
17:33he was chosen by lot,
17:35according to the custom of the priesthood,
17:37to enter the holy place of the Lord
17:40and burn incense.
17:45Now the whole crowd of people
17:46were praying outside
17:47at the hour of the incense offering.
17:51An angel of the Lord
17:52standing to the right
17:54of the altar of incense
17:55appeared to him.
18:00Zechariah,
18:00visibly shaken
18:01when he saw the angel,
18:03was seized with fear.
18:05But the angel said to him,
18:07Do not be afraid, Zechariah,
18:10for your prayer has been heard.
18:12Your wife, Elizabeth,
18:14will bear you a son,
18:16and you will name him John.
18:20Joy and gladness will come to you,
18:22and many will rejoice at his birth,

19:07How can I be sure of this?

19:11and my wife is old as well.

19:19I am Gabriel,
19:21and I stand in the presence of God.
19:24I was sent to speak to you
19:26and bring you this good news.
19:31Now because you did not believe
19:33my words,
19:34which will be fulfilled
19:36in their time,
19:37you will be silent
19:39and unable to speak
19:41until the day
19:42that these things take place.

19:48were waiting for Zechariah
19:50and they began to wonder
19:51why he was delayed
19:52in the holy place.
19:55When he came out,
19:56he was unable
19:57to speak to them.
19:59And so they realized
20:01that he had seen a vision
20:02in the holy place
20:04because he was making signs
20:06to them
20:07but remained unable to speak.
20:12When his time of service
20:14was over,
20:15he went home.
20:17After some time,
20:18his wife Elizabeth
20:19became pregnant
20:20and for five months
20:22she kept herself
20:23in seclusion.
20:26She said,
20:27This is what the Lord
20:29has done for me
20:30at the time
20:31when he has been gracious
20:32to me,
20:33to take away
20:34my disgrace
20:35among people.
20:38This is the word
