00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:02Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore, I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:10voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:11Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
04:41is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:46Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 147
05:00Praise the Lord, for it is good to sing praises to our God.
05:06Yes, praise is pleasant and appropriate.
05:10The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem, and gathers the exiles of Israel.
05:15He heals the brokenhearted, and bandages their wounds.
05:21He counts the number of the stars.
05:23He names all of them.
05:26The Lord is great and has awesome power.
05:29There is no limit to his wisdom.
05:33The Lord lifts up the oppressed, but knocks the wicked to the ground.
05:40Offer to the Lord a song of thanks.
05:43Sing praises to our God, to the accompaniment of a harp.
05:48He covers the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides.
05:56He gives food to the animals, and to the young ravens when they chirp.
06:02He is not enamored with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior's strong legs.
06:10The Lord takes delight in his faithful followers, and in those who wait for his loyal love.
06:18Extol the Lord, O Jerusalem, praise your God, O Zion.
06:23For he makes the bars of your gates strong.
06:27He blesses your children within you.
06:30He brings peace to your territory.
06:33He abundantly provides for you the best grain.
06:38He sends his command through the earth.
06:40Swiftly his order reaches its destination.
06:45He sends the snow that is white like wool.
06:48He spreads the frost that is white like ashes.
06:53He throws his hailstones like crumbs.
06:56Who can withstand the cold wind he sends?
07:00He then orders it all to melt.
07:03He breathes on it, and the water flows.
07:07He proclaims his word to Jacob.
07:10His statutes and regulations to Israel.
07:14He has not done so with any other nation.
07:17They are not aware of his regulations.
07:20Praise the Lord.
07:23Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
07:27As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
07:31World without end.
07:33Amen.
07:45Praise the Lord.
07:46Praise the Lord from the sky.
07:48Praise him in the heavens.
07:51Praise him, all his angels.
07:53Praise him, all his heavenly assembly.
07:57Praise him, O sun and moon.
08:00Praise him, all you shiny stars.
08:04Praise him, O highest heaven, and you waters above the sky.
08:09Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he gave the command, and they came into existence.
08:16He established them, so that they would endure.
08:20He issued a decree that will not be revoked.
08:25Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea creatures, and all you ocean depths.
08:30O fire and hail, snow and clouds.
08:33O stormy wind, O stormy wind, that carries out his orders.
08:36You mountains, and all you hills.
08:39You fruit trees, and all you cedars.
08:41You animals, and all you cattle.
08:44You creeping things, and birds, you creeping things, and birds, you kings of the earth, and all you nations.
08:51You princes, and all you leaders on the earth.
08:55You young men, and young women.
08:57You elderly, along with your children.
08:59Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted.
09:06His majesty extends over earth and sky.
09:11He has made his people victorious, and given all his loyal followers reason to praise.
09:18The Israelites, the people who are close to him.
09:23Praise the Lord.
09:25Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
09:30As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
09:34World without end.
09:36Amen.
09:40Psalm 149
09:43Praise the Lord.
09:44Sing to the Lord a new song.
09:47Praise him in the assembly of the godly.
09:50Let Israel rejoice in their Creator.
09:53Let the people of Zion delight in their King.
09:57Let them praise his name with dancing.
10:00Let them sing praises to him, to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp.
10:07For the Lord takes delight in his people.
10:10He exalts the oppressed by delivering them.
10:14Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication.
10:17Let them shout for joy upon their beds.
10:21May the praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hands,
10:27in order to take revenge on the nations, and punish foreigners.
10:32They bind their kings in chains, and their nobles in iron shackles,
10:38and execute the judgment to which the enemies have been sentenced.
10:43All his loyal followers will be vindicated.
10:47Praise the Lord.
10:49Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
10:54as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
10:59World without end.
11:00Amen.
11:04Psalm 150
11:07Praise the Lord.
11:09Praise God in his sanctuary.
11:11Praise him in the sky, which testifies to his strength.
11:16Praise him for his mighty acts.
11:18Praise him for his surpassing greatness.
11:22Praise him with the blast of the horn.
11:25Praise him with the lyre and the harp.
11:27Praise him with the tambourine and with dancing.
11:32Praise him with stringed instruments and a flute.
11:36Praise him with loud cymbals.
11:39Praise him with clanging cymbals.
11:42Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
11:46Praise the Lord.
11:48Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
11:53as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
11:58World without end.
12:00Amen.
12:08The Second Book of Kings, Chapter 10
12:14Jehu assembled all the people and said to them,
12:17Ahab worshipped Baal a little.
12:20Jehu will worship him with great devotion.
12:23So now bring to me all the prophets of Baal,
12:26as well as all his servants and priests.
12:29None must be absent,
12:31for I am going to offer a great sacrifice to Baal.
12:36Any who fail to appear will lose their lives.
12:40But Jehu was tricking them,
12:42so that he could destroy the servants of Baal.
12:46Then Jehu ordered,
12:48Make arrangements for a celebration to Baal.
12:51So they announced it.
12:53Jehu sent invitations throughout Israel,
12:56and all the servants of Baal came.
13:00Not one was absent.
13:02They arrived at the temple of Baal,
13:05and filled it from end to end.
13:09Jehu ordered the one who was in charge of the wardrobe,
13:12Bring out robes for all the servants of Baal.
13:15And so he brought out robes for them.
13:18Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rechab
13:21went to the temple of Baal.
13:24Jehu said to the servants of Baal,
13:26Make sure there are no servants of the Lord here with you.
13:30There must be only servants of Baal.
13:33And they went inside to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings.
13:39Now Jehu had stationed 80 men outside.
13:43He had told them,
13:44If any of the men inside get away,
13:46you will pay with your lives.
13:50And when he had finished offering the burnt sacrifice,
13:54Jehu ordered the royal guard and officers,
13:57Come in, strike them down.
13:59Do not let anyone escape.
14:02And so the royal guard and the officers
14:04struck them down with the sword,
14:05and left their bodies lying there.
14:09Then they entered these inner sanctuary
14:11of the temple of Baal.
14:13They hauled out the sacred pillar of the temple of Baal
14:16and burnt it.
14:17They demolished the sacred pillar of Baal
14:20and the temple of Baal.
14:22And it is used as a latrine to this very day.
14:27And so Jehu eradicated Baal worship from Israel.
14:32This is the word of the Lord.
14:34Thanks be to God.
14:50Mary said,
14:52My soul exalts the Lord,
14:55and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
14:59because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
15:05For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
15:09because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
15:13and holy is his name.
15:16From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
15:22He has demonstrated power with his arm.
15:26He has scattered those whose pride wells up
15:29from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
15:32He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
15:35and has lifted up those of lowly position.
15:39He has filled the hungry with good things,
15:42and has sent the rich away empty.
15:45He has helped his servant Israel,
15:48remembering his mercy as he promised to our ancestors,
15:53to Abraham, and to his descendants forever.
15:58Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
16:02as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
16:07world without end.
16:09Amen.
16:18The Epistle to the Hebrews, Chapter 6
16:22Now this Melchizedek, King of Salem, Priest of the Most High God,
16:28met Abraham, as he was returning from defeating the kings,
16:32and blessed him.
16:34To him also Abraham apportioned a tithe of everything.
16:39His name first means King of Righteousness,
16:42then King of Salem, that is, King of Peace.
16:46Without father, without mother, without genealogy,
16:50he has neither beginning of days nor end of life.
16:54But he's like the Son of God,
16:56and he remains a priest for all time.
17:00But see how great he must be,
17:03if Abraham the patriarch gave him a tithe of his plunder.
17:09Those of the sons of Levi who received the priestly office
17:13have authorisation according to the law to collect a tithe from the people,
17:17that is, from their fellow countrymen,
17:20although they too are descendants of Abraham.
17:25But Melchizedek, who does not share their ancestry,
17:28collected a tithe from Abraham,
17:30and blessed the one who possessed the promise.
17:35Now without dispute,
17:37the inferior is blessed by the superior,
17:39and in one case tithes are received by mortal men,
17:43while in the other by him who is affirmed to be alive.
17:49It could be said that Levi himself,
17:51who received tithes,
17:53paid a tithe through his father Abraham,
17:56for he was still in his ancestors' loins,
17:59when Melchizedek met him.
18:03So if perfection had in fact been possible
18:07through the Levitical priesthood,
18:09for on that basis the people received the law,
18:13what further need would there have been
18:14for another priest to arise,
18:16said to be of the order of Melchizedek,
18:19and not in Aaron's order.
18:22For when the priesthood changes,
18:24a change in the law must come as well.
18:27Yet the one of these things spoken about
18:31belongs to a different tribe,
18:33and no one from that tribe
18:34has ever officiated at the altar.
18:38It is clear that our Lord is descended from Judah,
18:41and yet Moses said nothing about priests
18:44in connection with that tribe.
18:47This is even clearer
18:48if another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek,
18:52who was to become a priest
18:54not by legal regulation or physical descent,
18:58but by the power of an indestructible life.
19:03For this is the testimony about him.
19:06You are a priest forever
19:07in the order of Melchizedek.
19:11On the one hand,
19:13a former command is set aside
19:14because it is weak and useless,
19:16for the law made nothing perfect.
19:19On the other hand,
19:21a better hope is introduced
19:22through which we can draw near to God.
19:26Since this was not done
19:28without a sworn affirmation,
19:30for others have become priests
19:32without a sworn affirmation.
19:34But Jesus did so
19:36with a sworn affirmation
19:38by the one who said,
19:40The Lord has sworn
19:41and will not change his mind.
19:43You are a priest forever.
19:47Accordingly,
19:47Jesus has become the guarantee
19:49of a better covenant.
19:51The others who became priests
19:53were numerous
19:54because death prevented them
19:56from continuing in office.
19:58But he holds his priesthood permanently
20:01since he lives forever.
20:05Therefore,
20:06he is able to save completely
20:07those who come to God
20:09through him
20:10because he always lives
20:12ready to intercede for them.
20:14It is indeed fitting
20:16for us to have such a high priest,
20:18holy, innocent,
20:20undefiled,
20:21separate from sinners
20:22and exalted above the heavens.
20:25He has no need to do
20:26every day what these priests do,
20:29offering sacrifices
20:30first for their own sins
20:32and then for the sins
20:33of the people,
20:34since he did this
20:36in offering himself
20:37once and for all.
20:41The law appoints as high priests
20:43men subject to weakness.
20:45But the word of solemn affirmation
20:47that came after the law
20:49appoints a son
20:51who is made perfect forever.
20:54This is the word of the Lord.
20:57Thanks be to God.
21:11Now, according to your word,
21:13Sovereign Lord,
21:14permit your servant
21:16to depart in peace.
21:17For my eyes have seen
21:19your salvation
21:20that you have prepared
21:22in the presence of all peoples.
21:25a light for revelation
21:27to the Gentiles
21:28and for glory
21:30to your people Israel.
21:33Glory be to the Father
21:35and to the Son
21:36and to the Holy Spirit,
21:38as it was in the beginning,
21:39is now and ever shall be,
21:42world without end.
21:44Amen.
21:49I believe in God
21:51the Father Almighty,
21:52maker of heaven and earth,
21:54and in Jesus Christ,
21:56his only Son,
21:57our Lord,
21:58who was conceived
22:00by the Holy Spirit,
22:01born of the Virgin Mary,
22:03suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
22:07was crucified,
22:09dead,
22:09and buried.
22:10He descended into hell.
22:12On the third day
22:14he rose again
22:14from the dead.
22:16He ascended into heaven
22:18and is sitting
22:19at the right hand
22:20of God the Father Almighty.
22:23From there he shall come
22:24to judge the living
22:25and the dead.
22:28I believe in the Holy Spirit,
22:30the Holy Catholic Church,
22:32the communion of saints,
22:34the forgiveness of sins,
22:36the resurrection of the body,
22:38and the life everlasting.
22:41Amen.
22:46The Lord be with you
22:49and with your spirit.
22:53Let us pray.
22:57Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:00Christ, have mercy upon us.
23:05Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:11Our Father,
23:12who is in heaven,
23:15holy is your name.
23:17May your kingdom come.
23:19May your will be done
23:21on earth as it is in heaven.
23:24Give us this day
23:26our daily bread.
23:27Forgive us our trespasses,
23:29as we forgive those
23:30who trespass against us.
23:33Lead us not into temptation,
23:36but deliver us from evil.
23:39For yours is the kingdom,
23:41the power and the glory,
23:44for ever and ever.
23:46Amen.
23:51O Lord, show your mercy upon us
23:54and grant us your salvation.
24:00protect and guide those in authority over us.
24:05And mercifully hear us
24:07when we call upon you.
24:11Endue your ministers with righteousness
24:14and make your chosen people joyful.
24:19O Lord, save your people
24:23and bless your inheritance.
24:27Give peace in our time, O Lord,
24:31because there is none other
24:33who fights for us
24:34but only you, O God.
24:37O God, make clean our hearts within us
24:42and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
24:53Let us pray.
24:56Almighty and everlasting God,
24:58who has given us your servants grace
25:01by the confession of a true faith
25:03to acknowledge the glory
25:05of the eternal Trinity
25:07in the power of your divine majesty
25:10to worship the unity.
25:13We beseech you
25:14that you keep us steadfast
25:15in this faith
25:16and evermore defend us
25:19from all adversities
25:20who lives and reigns
25:22one God, world without end.
25:25Amen.
25:34O God, from whom all holy desires
25:38all good counsels
25:39and all just works proceed
25:41give to your servants
25:43that peace
25:44which the world cannot give
25:46that our hearts
25:48may be set to obey
25:50your commandments
25:50and also that by you
25:53we being defended
25:55from the fear of our enemies
25:57may pass our time
25:59in rest and quietness
26:01through the merits
26:03of Jesus Christ
26:04our Saviour.
26:05Amen.
26:10Lighten our darkness
26:12we beseech you, O Lord
26:13and by your great mercy
26:16defend us all
26:17from perils
26:18and dangers
26:19of this night
26:21for the love
26:22of your only Son
26:23our Saviour
26:24Jesus Christ.
26:25Amen.
26:29Almighty God
26:30who has given us grace
26:32at this time
26:33with one accord
26:34to make our common
26:36supplications to you
26:37and promises
26:39that when two or three
26:40are gathered together
26:41in your name
26:42you will grant
26:43their requests.
26:46Fulfill now, O Lord
26:48the desires and petitions
26:50of your servants
26:51as may be most beneficial
26:53for them
26:55granting us
26:56in this world
26:57knowledge of your truth
26:59and in the world
27:00to come
27:01life everlasting.
27:04Amen.
27:07May the grace
27:08of our Lord Jesus Christ
27:09and the love of God
27:10and the fellowship
27:12of the Holy Spirit
27:13be with us all
27:15evermore.
27:16Amen.
