00:10O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing your praise.
00:17O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
00:26Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
00:32is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
00:39Let us praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.
00:49I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
00:59I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
01:09God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the
01:19Father.
01:20Through him all things were made.
01:23For us men, and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of
01:31the Virgin Mary, and became man.
01:35For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
01:39He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
01:46He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
01:52He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
01:59I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father,
02:06who with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
02:14I believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
02:18I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins,
02:23and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
02:30Amen.
02:33The Lord be with you, and also with you.
02:39Let us pray.
02:42Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:45Christ, have mercy upon us.
02:48Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:53Our Father in heaven, holy is your name.
02:58Your kingdom come.
03:00Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
03:05Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:16Do not allow us to fall into temptation, but deliver us from every evil.
03:23Amen.
03:27O Lord, have mercy upon us, and grant us your salvation.
03:35Bless your ministers with righteousness, and make your chosen people joyful.
03:44O Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance.
03:51Give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other that fights for it, but only you, O
03:59God.
04:01O God, make clean our hearts within us.
04:06Do not take your Holy Spirit from us.
04:15The first book of kings, chapter 14.
04:19At that time, Jeroboam's son, Abijah, became sick.
04:25Jeroboam told his wife, disguise yourself, so that people cannot recognise you are Jeroboam's wife.
04:33Then go to Shiloh.
04:35Ahijah, the prophet, who told me I would rule over the nation, lives there.
04:40Take ten loaves of bread, some small cakes, and a container of honey, and visit him.
04:46He will tell you what will happen to the boy.
04:52Jeroboam's wife did, as she was told.
04:54She went to Shiloh and visited Ahijah.
04:58Now Ahijah could not see, for he had lost his eyesight in his old age.
05:05But the Lord had told Ahijah,
05:09Look, Jeroboam's wife is coming to find out from you what will happen to her son, for he is sick.
05:17Tell her so and so.
05:20When she comes, she will be in disguise.
05:26When Ahijah heard the sound of her footsteps as she came through the door, he said,
05:31Come in, wife of Jeroboam.
05:33Why do you pretend to be someone else?
05:37I have been commissioned to give you bad news.
05:41Go and help, Jeroboam.
05:43This is what the Lord God of Israel says.
05:48I raised you up from amongst the people, and made you ruler of my people Israel.
05:53I tore the kingdom away from the Davidic dynasty, and gave it to you.
05:59But you are not like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me wholeheartedly, by doing only what
06:07I approve.
06:09You have sinned more than any who have come before you.
06:13You went and angered me by making other gods formed out of metal.
06:18You have completely disregarded me.
06:22So I am ready to bring disaster on the dynasty of Jeroboam.
06:26I will cut off every last male belonging to Jeroboam in Israel, including even the weak and incapacitated.
06:37I will burn up the dynasty of Jeroboam, just as one burns manure until it is completely consumed.
06:46Dogs will eat the members of your family who die in the city, and the birds of the sky will
06:52eat the ones who die in the country.
06:55Indeed, the Lord has announced it.
06:59As for you, get up and go home.
07:02When you set foot in the city, the boy will die.
07:07All Israel will mourn him and bury him.
07:11He is the only one in Jeroboam's family who will receive a decent burial.
07:17For he is the only one in whom the Lord God of Israel found anything good.
07:25The Lord will raise up a king over Israel, who will cut off Jeroboam's dynasty.
07:31It is ready to happen.
07:34The Lord will attack Israel, making it like a reed that sways in the water.
07:40He will remove Israel from the good land he gave their ancestors,
07:44and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River.
07:48Because they have angered the Lord by making Asherah poles.
07:53He will hand Israel over to their enemies because of the sins which Jeroboam committed,
08:00and which he made Israel commit.
08:05So Jeroboam's wife got up and went back to Tirzah.
08:09And as she crossed the threshold of the house, the boy died.
08:15All Israel buried him and mourned for him,
08:19just as the Lord had predicted through his servant, the prophet Ahijah.
08:25The rest of Jeroboam's reign, including the details of his battles and rules,
08:31are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Israel.
08:38Jeroboam ruled for 22 years.
08:41Then he passed away, and his son Nadab replaced him as king.
08:48This is the word of the Lord.
08:50Thanks be to God.
08:57O give thanks to the Lord for his patience,
09:03and his mercy and joy for ever.
09:08Let him give thanks to the Lord and redeem,
09:13and deliver through the wrath of the enemy,
09:17and gather them out of the land,
09:22from east and from the west,
09:25from the north and from the south.
09:30May I just take the wilderness out of the way,
09:36and find your cities in dwelling.
09:39How the free and dirty,
09:44where stormy fated in vain.
09:49So they cried unto the Lord in their trouble,
09:55and he believed in them from their distress.
10:01He led them forth by the law and way,
10:06and he believed in them from their distress.
10:11And he believed in them from their distress.
10:14And he believed in them from their distress.
10:15For the brave will therefore praise the Lord for his goodness,
10:20and he fled upon what that he doeth for them children of men.
10:26For his sadness, why, and the empty tomb,
10:31and filled the hungry, so in goodness.
10:35For his sadness, why, and the mercy, so in goodness.
