00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 69
05:00Deliver me, O God, for the water has reached my neck.
05:04I sink into the deep mire where there is no solid groan.
05:09I am in deep water, and the current overpowers me.
05:14I am exhausted from shouting for help.
05:17My throat is sore, and my eyes grow tired of looking for my God.
05:22Those who hate me without cause are more numerous than the hairs of my head.
05:28Those who want to destroy me, my enemies for no reason, outnumber me.
05:34They make me repay what I did not steal.
05:38O God, you are aware of my foolish sins.
05:42My guilt is not hidden from you.
05:45Let none who rely on you be disgraced because of me.
05:51O sovereign Lord of heaven's armies,
05:55let none who seek you be ashamed because of me, O God of Israel.
06:01For I suffer humiliation for your sake, and am thoroughly disgraced.
06:06My own brothers treat me like a stranger.
06:09They act as if I were a foreigner.
06:13Certainly zeal for your house consumes me.
06:17I endure the insults of those who insult you.
06:21I weep and refrain from eating food, which causes others to insult me.
06:28I wear sackcloth, and they ridicule me.
06:32Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me.
06:37Drunkards mock me in their songs.
06:41O Lord, may you hear my prayer and be favorably disposed to me.
06:46O God, because of your great loyal love, answer me with your deliverance.
06:53Rescue me from the mud.
06:54Do not let me sink.
06:56Deliver me from those who hate me from the deep water.
07:01Do not let the current overpower me.
07:03Do not let the deep swallow me up.
07:06Do not let the pit devour me.
07:10Answer me, O Lord, for your loyal love is good,
07:13because of your great compassion turn toward me.
07:18Do not ignore your servant, for I am in trouble.
07:22Answer me right away.
07:24Come near and redeem me.
07:26Because of my enemies, rescue me.
07:31You know how I am insulted, humiliated and disgraced.
07:36You can see all my enemies.
07:39Their insults are painful and make me lose heart.
07:43I look for sympathy but receive none, for comforters but find none.
07:50They put bitter poison in my food, and to quench my thirst they give me vinegar to drink.
07:57May their dining table become a trap before them.
08:01May it be a snare for that group of friends.
08:05May their eyes be blinded, make them shake violently.
08:10Pour out judgment on them.
08:13May your raging anger overtake them.
08:15May their camp become desolate, their tents uninhabited.
08:21For they harass the one whom you discipline.
08:24They spread the news about the suffering of those whom you punish.
08:29Hold them accountable for their sins.
08:31Do not vindicate them.
08:33May their names be deleted from the scroll of the living.
08:37Do not let their names be listed with the godly.
08:41I am oppressed and suffering.
08:44O God, deliver and protect me.
08:47I will sing praises to God's name.
08:49I will magnify him as I give thanks.
08:53That will please the Lord more than an ox or a bull with horns and hooves.
08:59The oppressed look on.
09:01Let them rejoice.
09:02You who seek God, may you be encouraged.
09:05For the Lord listens to the needy.
09:08He does not despise his captive people.
09:12Let the heavens and the earth praise him,
09:14along with the seas and everything that swims in them.
09:18For God will deliver Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah,
09:22and his people will live again in them and possess Zion.
09:28The descendants of all his servants will inherit it,
09:32and those who are loyal to him will live in it.
09:36Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
09:41as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
09:45world without end.
09:47Amen.
09:51Psalm 70
09:53O God, please be willing to rescue me.
09:57O Lord, hurry and help me.
10:01May those who are trying to take my life be embarrassed and ashamed.
10:05May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed.
10:10May those who say,
10:12Aha! Aha!
10:13Be driven back and disgraced.
10:16May all those who seek you be happy and rejoice in you.
10:21May those who love to experience your deliverance say continually,
10:26May God be praised.
10:29I am oppressed and needy.
10:32O God, hurry to me,
10:33for you are my helper and my deliverer.
10:36O Lord, do not delay.
10:41Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
10:45as it was in the beginning,
10:47is now and ever shall be,
10:50world without end.
10:52Amen.
10:58The Prophet Daniel, Chapter 1
11:02In the third year of the reign of King Jehoiakim of Judah,
11:05King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon advanced against Jerusalem
11:09and laid it under siege.
11:13Now the Lord delivered King Jehoiakim of Judah into his power,
11:16along with some of the vessels of the temple of God.
11:20And he brought them to the land of Babylon in the temple of his God
11:23and put the vessels in the treasury of his God.
11:28The king commanded Ashpenaz,
11:30who was in charge of his court officials,
11:33to choose some of the Israelites
11:35who were of royal and noble descent,
11:38young men in whom there was no physical defect
11:41and who were handsome,
11:42well-versed in wisdom,
11:44educated and having a keen insight,
11:47who would be capable of entering the king's royal service
11:50to teach them the literature and language of Babylon.
11:55So the king assigned them a daily ration from his royal delicacies
12:00and from the wine he himself drank.
12:03They were to be trained for three years.
12:07At the end of that time,
12:08they were to enter the king's service.
12:12As it turned out,
12:13among these men were some from Judah,
12:17Daniel,
12:18Hananiah,
12:19Mishael,
12:20and Azariah.
12:22But Daniel made up his mind
12:24that he would not defile himself
12:25with the royal delicacies or the royal wine,
12:29and therefore asked the overseer of the court officials
12:32for permission not to defile himself.
12:36Then God made the overseer of the court officials
12:39sympathetic to Daniel,
12:41but he replied to Daniel,
12:44I fear my master, the king.
12:46He is the one who has decided your food and drink.
12:50What would happen
12:51if he saw that you looked malnourished
12:54in comparison to the other young men your age?
12:57If that happened,
12:59you would endanger my life with the king.
13:04Daniel then spoke to the warden
13:06whom the overseer of the court officials had appointed
13:09over Daniel,
13:11Hananiah,
13:11Mishael,
13:12and Azariah.
13:14Please,
13:15test your servants for ten days,
13:17providing us with vegetables to eat
13:20and water to drink.
13:21Then compare our appearance
13:23with that of the young men
13:25who are eating the royal delicacies,
13:27and deal with us in the light of what you see.
13:31So the warden agreed to their proposal
13:33and tested them for ten days.
13:38At the end of the ten days,
13:40their appearance was better
13:41and their bodies healthier
13:42than all the young men
13:43who had been eating the royal delicacies.
13:47So the warden removed the delicacies
13:49and the wine from their diet
13:50and gave them a diet of vegetables instead.
13:56And as for these four young men,
13:59God endeared them with knowledge and skill
14:01in all sorts of literature and wisdom,
14:05and Daniel was given insights
14:06into all kinds of visions and dreams.
14:12When the time appointed for the king arrived,
14:15the overseer of the royal officials
14:17brought them into Nebuchadnezzar's presence.
14:21When the king spoke with them,
14:23he did not find among the entire group
14:25anyone like Daniel,
14:26Hananiah,
14:27Mishael,
14:28or Azariah.
14:29And so they entered the king's service.
14:33In every matter of wisdom and insight,
14:36the king asked them.
14:37He found them to be ten times better
14:40than any of the magicians and astrologers
14:42that were in his entire camp.
14:46This is the word of the Lord.
14:49Thanks be to God.
15:02Mary said,
15:04My soul exalts the Lord,
15:06and my spirit has begun to rejoice
15:09in God my Saviour,
15:11because he has looked
15:12upon the humble state of his servant.
15:16For from now on
15:18all generations will call me blessed,
15:21because he who is mighty
15:22has done great things for me,
15:25and holy is his name.
15:27From generation to generation
15:30he is merciful to those
15:32who fear him.
15:34He has demonstrated power
15:36with his arm.
15:37He has scattered those
15:39whose pride wells up
15:40from the sheer arrogance
15:41of their hearts.
15:43He has brought down
15:45the mighty from their thrones,
15:46and has lifted up
15:48those of lowly position.
15:50He has filled the hungry
15:52with good things,
15:53and has sent the rich
15:54away empty.
15:56He has helped his servant Israel
15:59remembering his mercy
16:01as he promised
16:02to our ancestors,
16:04to Abraham,
16:05and to his descendants
16:07forever.
16:09Glory be to the Father,
16:11and to the Son,
16:12and to the Holy Spirit,
16:13as it was in the beginning,
16:16is now,
16:17and ever shall be,
16:19world without end.
16:21Amen.
16:27The Gospel According to St. Mark
16:30Chapters 11 and 12
16:34When they had returned again
16:35to Jerusalem,
16:36Jesus was walking
16:38in the temple courts,
16:39and the chief priests
16:40and the experts in the law
16:42and the elders
16:42came up to him
16:44and said,
16:45By what authority
16:46do you do these things?
16:48Who gave you permission
16:49to do these things?
16:52Jesus said to them,
16:54I will ask you
16:55one question.
16:56Answer me,
16:57and I will tell you
16:58by what authority
16:59I do these things.
17:02John's baptism.
17:03Now,
17:04was it from heaven,
17:05or was it from people?
17:07What is your answer?
17:10They discussed it
17:12with one another,
17:13saying,
17:14If we say from heaven,
17:15he will say,
17:16Then,
17:16why did you not believe him?
17:18But if we say from people,
17:20for they feared the crowd,
17:22for John was considered
17:24to be truly a prophet.
17:27So they answered Jesus,
17:29We don't know.
17:33Then Jesus said to them,
17:35Neither will I tell you
17:36by what authority
17:37I am doing these things.
17:40And he taught them
17:42in the form of a parable.
17:44A man had a vine garden
17:46planted and put a wall
17:47around it,
17:48making a place
17:49for crushing out the wine.
17:51He put up a tower
17:52and let it out
17:53to field workers
17:54before leaving
17:55for another country.
17:57When the time came,
17:59he sent a servant
18:00to get from the workman
18:02some of the fruit
18:03of the garden.
18:05They took him,
18:06gave him blows
18:07and sent him away
18:08with nothing.
18:10Again he sent to them
18:11another servant
18:12and they gave him
18:13wounds to the head
18:14being very cruel to him.
18:17Then he sent another
18:19and they put him
18:20to death
18:21and a number of others
18:22whipping some
18:23and putting others
18:24to death.
18:28He still had one,
18:29a dearly beloved son
18:31and he sent him
18:32last to them
18:33saying,
18:34They will have respect
18:36for my son.
18:38But the workman
18:39said to themselves,
18:40This is the heir.
18:43One day he will be
18:44the owner of the property.
18:46Come,
18:47let us put him
18:48to death
18:49and the heritage
18:50will then be ours.
18:52So they took him
18:54and put him to death,
18:55pushing his body
18:55out of the garden.
18:58What then
18:59will the master
19:00of the garden do?
19:01He will come
19:02and put the workman
19:03to death
19:03and will give the garden
19:05into the hands
19:06of others.
19:08Have you not seen
19:10this which is
19:11in the scriptures?
19:12The stone
19:13which the builders
19:13put on one side.
19:15The stone
19:16was made the chief stone
19:17of the building.
19:19This was the Lord's doing
19:20and it is a wonder
19:21in our eyes.
19:25Then they made
19:25attempts to take him
19:26but they were in fear
19:28of the people
19:28because they saw
19:29that the story
19:30was against them
19:31and they went away
19:33from him.
19:34This is the word
19:36of the Lord.
19:37Thanks be to God.
19:50Now according
19:51to your word,
19:53Sovereign Lord,
19:54permit your servant
19:55to depart in peace.
19:57For my eyes
19:58have seen
19:59your salvation
20:00that you have prepared
20:02in the presence
20:02of all peoples,
20:05a light
20:05for revelation
20:06to the Gentiles
20:07and for glory
20:09to your people Israel.
20:13Glory be to the Father
20:14and to the Son
20:15and to the Holy Spirit
20:17as it was
20:18in the beginning
20:19is now
20:19and ever shall be
20:21world without end.
20:23Amen.
20:28I believe in God

20:31maker of heaven
20:33and earth
20:34and in Jesus Christ
