00:10O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing your praise.
00:17O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
00:26Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
00:32is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
00:40Let us praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.
00:49I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
00:59I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
01:09God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the
01:19Father.
01:20Through him all things were made.
01:23For us men, and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of
01:31the Virgin Mary, and became man.
01:35For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
01:39He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
01:46He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
01:52He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
01:59I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father,
02:06who with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
02:14I believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
02:18I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins,
02:23and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
02:30Amen.
02:33The Lord be with you, and also with you.
02:39Let us pray.
02:42Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:45Christ, have mercy upon us.
02:48Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:53Our Father in heaven, holy is your name.
02:58Your kingdom come.
03:00Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
03:05Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:16Do not allow us to fall into temptation, but deliver us from every evil.
03:23Amen.
03:27O Lord, have mercy upon us, and grant us your salvation.
03:35Bless your ministers with righteousness, and make your chosen people joyful.
03:44O Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance.
03:51Give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other that fights for it, but only you, O
03:59God.
04:01O God, make clean our hearts within us.
04:06Do not take your Holy Spirit from us.
04:21There was no war between Syria and Israel for three years.
04:27In the third year of the reign of king Jehoshaphat of Judah, he came down to visit the king of
04:34Israel.
04:36The king of Israel said to his servants,
04:39Surely you recognize that Ramoth-Gilead belongs to us, though we are hesitant to reclaim it from the king of
04:47Syria.
04:50Then he said to Jehoshaphat,
04:54Will you go with me to attack Ramoth-Gilead?
04:59Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel,
05:01I will support you, my army and horses are at your disposal.
05:07But then Jehoshaphat added,
05:10But first, seek an oracle from the Lord.
05:13So the king of Israel assembled about four hundred prophets,
05:17and asked them,
05:19Should I attack Ramoth-Gilead or not?
05:21And they said,
05:22Attack!
05:23The sovereign one will hand it over to the king.
05:27But Jehoshaphat asked him,
05:29Is there not a prophet of the Lord still here,
05:32that we may ask him?
05:36The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat,
05:39There is still one man through whom we can seek the Lord's will.
05:45But I despise him because he does not prophesy prosperity for me,
05:49but disaster.
05:52His name is Micaiah, son of Imla.
05:57Jehoshaphat said,
05:58The king should not say such things.
06:02The king of Israel summoned an official and said,
06:05Quickly, bring Micaiah, son of Imla.
06:10Now the kings of Israel and Judah were sitting on their respective thrones,
06:15dressed in their robes,
06:16at the threshing floor at the entrance to the gate of Samaria.
06:21And all the prophets were prophesying before them.
06:26Zedekiah, son of Kenaniah,
06:29made iron horns and said,
06:31This is what the Lord says,
06:33With these you will gore Syria until they are destroyed.
06:37All the other prophets were saying the same,
06:40saying,
06:41Attack Ramoth-Gilead, you will succeed.
06:43The Lord will hand it over to the king.
06:47Now the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him,
06:51Look, the prophets are in complete agreement that the king will succeed.
06:56Your words must agree with theirs.
06:58You must predict success.
07:01But Micaiah said,
07:03As certainly as the Lord lives,
07:05I will say what the Lord tells me to say.
07:12When he came before the king,
07:14the king asked him,
07:15Micaiah,
07:16should we attack Ramoth-Gilead or not?
07:21He answered him,
07:22Attack,
07:23you will succeed.
07:24The Lord will hand it over to the king.
07:29The king said to him,
07:31How many times must I make you solemnly promise
07:34in the name of the Lord to tell me only the truth?
07:39Micaiah said,
07:41I saw Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep
07:44that have no shepherd.
07:47That have no shepherd.
07:47Then the Lord said,
07:48They have no master,
07:50they should go home in peace.
07:54The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,
07:58Didn't I tell you,
07:59he does not prophesy prosperity for me,
08:02but disaster.
08:06Micaiah said,
08:07That be the case,
08:08but listen to the word of the Lord.
08:12I saw the Lord sitting on his throne
08:14with all the heavenly assembly standing to the right and to the left.
08:21The Lord said,
08:22Who will deceive Ahab
08:24that he will attack Ramoth-Gilead and die there?
08:28One said this and another that.
08:31Then a spirit stepped forward and stood before the Lord.
08:35He said,
08:36I will deceive him.
08:38And the Lord asked him,
08:40How?
08:41He replied,
08:42I will go out and I will be a lying spirit
08:45in the mouths of all his prophets.
08:48The Lord said,
08:49Go, deceive and overpower him.
08:52Go out and do as you have proposed.
08:55So now look,
08:56the Lord has placed a lying spirit
08:58in the mouths of the prophets of Nils,
09:01but the Lord has decreed disaster for you.
09:06Zedekiah son of Keniah approached,
09:09hit Micaiah on the jaw and said,
09:12Which way did the Lord's spirit go
09:14when he went from me to speak to you?
09:19Micaiah replied,
09:20Look,
09:21you will see in the day
09:22when you go into an inner room to hide.
09:27Then the king of Israel said,
09:30Take Micaiah and return him to Ammon,
09:32the city official.
09:34And Joash,
09:35the king's son,
09:37say,
09:37This is what the king says.
09:39Put this man in prison.
09:42Give him only a little bread and water
09:44until I safely return.
09:49Micaiah said,
09:51If you do safely return,
09:53then the Lord has not spoken through me.
09:56And he added,
09:58Take note,
09:59all you people.
10:02The king of Israel and king Jehoshaphat of Judah
10:05attacked Ram of Gilead.
10:08The king of Israel said,
10:09I will disguise myself and enter the battle,
10:13but you should wear your royal robes.
10:16So the king of Israel disguised himself
10:19and then entered into the battle.
10:22Now the king of Syria had ordered his chariot commanders,
10:26Do not fight common soldiers or high ranking officers.
10:30Fight only the king of Israel.
10:33But when the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat,
10:36they said to him,
10:37He must be the king of Israel.
10:41And so they turned and attacked him.
10:43But Jehoshaphat cried out,
10:46When the chariot commanders realised
10:48he was not the king of Israel,
10:51they turned away from him.
10:55It happened that an archer shot an arrow at random
10:59and it struck the king of Israel
11:02between the plates of his armour.
11:05The king ordered his chariot ear,
11:08Turn around and take me from the battle line
11:11for I am wounded.
11:14And while the battle raged through the day,
11:16the king stood,
11:17propped up in his chariot opposite the Syrians.
11:22He died in the evening,
11:24the blood from the wound running down
11:26into the bottom of the chariot.
11:29As the sun was setting,
11:31a cry went through the camp,
11:33Each one should return to his city
11:35and to his homeland.
11:40And so the king died
11:41and was taken to Samaria,
11:43where they buried him.
11:46They washed off the chariot
11:47at the pool of Samaria,
11:49which is where the prostitutes bathed.
11:52Dogs licked his blood,
11:54just as the Lord said would happen.
11:58The rest of the events of Ahab's reign,
12:01including a record of his accomplishments
12:03and how he built a luxurious palace
12:06and various cities,
12:08are recorded in the scroll
12:10called the Annals of the Kings of Israel.
12:13Ahab passed away.
12:15His son Ahaziah replaced him as king.
12:20This is the word of the Lord.
12:23Thanks be to God.
12:29My word is a lantern unto my face,
12:36and a light unto my heart.
12:41I am sworn and am steadfastly purposed
12:47to keep my right and straddle.
12:52I am troubled,
12:55no more of that.
12:58Quicken thee, O Lord,
13:01I'm calling to thy blood.
13:05Let the tree will offer it
13:08out of my mouth with me alone,
13:13and treat me like God.
13:18My soul is always in my hand.
13:25Yes, do I not forget my Lord.
13:29The ungodly have made us never,
13:36but yet I strow and not
13:39from my heart on my heart.
13:43My disciple is, I claim,
13:47does my heritage forever,
13:50and why they are the very joy of my heart.
13:59I have applied my heart to fulfill my service.
14:07and why they are the very joy of my heart.
14:17I have applied my heart to fulfill my heart.
14:29I have applied my heart to fulfill my heart.
14:34and why they are the very joy of my heart.
14:39I have applied my heart to fulfill my heart.
14:44I will keep the love of my heart,
14:48so my God will establish me according to the land
14:54that I may live.
14:57And why they are the very joy of my heart.

22:43I tell you the solemn truth, the one who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs in
22:49some other way, is a thief than the robber.
22:52The one who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
22:56The doorkeeper opens the door for him, and the sheep hear his voice.
23:01He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
23:06When he has brought out all his sheep, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they
23:12recognize his voice.
23:14They will never follow a stranger, but run away from him, because they do not recognize the stranger's voice.
23:24I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
23:29The hired hand, who is not a shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and abandons
23:36the sheep and runs away.
23:38So the wolf attacks the sheep and scatters them.
23:42Because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep, he runs away.
23:51I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me.
23:56Just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father, I lay down my life for the sheep.
24:04I have other sheep that do not come from this sheepfold, and I must bring them too.
24:11They will listen to my voice, so that there will be one flock and one shepherd.
24:17This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, so that I may take it back
24:23again.
24:25No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down with my own free will.
24:31I have the authority to lay it down, and I have the authority to take it back again.
24:39This commandment I received from my Father.
24:45Another sharp division took place among the Jewish people because of these words.
24:51Many of them said,
24:52He is possessed by a demon and has lost his mind.
24:56Why do you listen to him?
25:00Others said,
25:02These are not the words of someone possessed by a demon.
25:05For a demon cannot cause the blind to see, can it?
25:11This is the word of the Lord.
25:14Thanks be to God.
25:21Collect for Peace
25:24O God, who is the author of peace and lover of concord,
25:29in knowledge of whom stands our eternal life,
25:32whose service is perfect freedom,
25:35defend us, your humble servants,
25:38in all assaults of our enemies,
25:40that we, surely trusting in your defence,
25:44may not fear the power of any adversaries.
25:47Through the might of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
25:51Amen.
25:56Collect for our safe preservation
25:59O Lord, our Heavenly Father,
26:01almighty and everlasting God,
26:03who has safely brought us to the beginning of this day,
26:07defend us in the same with your mighty power
26:10and grant that this day we fall into no sin,
26:15neither run into any kind of danger,
26:18but that all our doings may be ordered
26:21by your governance
26:23to do always that which is righteous in your sight.
26:28Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
26:31Amen.
26:35Lord, let me accept calmly
26:37all that this day might bring me
26:40and let me devote myself completely
26:43to your sacred will.
26:46Direct me and help me each hour of this day.
26:50Control my thoughts and feelings
26:52in all my deeds and words.
26:55When unpredictable circumstances arise,
26:58do not let me forget
27:00that everything comes from you.
27:04Lord Jesus, Son of God,
27:06it is better not to live
27:08than to live without you.
27:10I thank you, God,
27:12for the gift of this new day
27:13and for all the good deeds
27:16you will help me do today.
27:20Holy Spirit,
27:21help me to dedicate this day
27:23to my Lord and Saviour.
27:25teach me to be just
27:27toward my brother and sister,
27:30never to provoke wrath
27:32or cause sorrow.
27:34Control my will
27:36and teach me to pray,
27:38to believe,
27:39to hope,
27:40to suffer,
27:41to forgive
27:42and to love.
27:44Amen.
27:49We pray for the work
27:50of your faithful servants
27:52throughout the world, Lord.
27:55Lord, in your mercy,
27:57hear our prayer.
28:01May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
28:04the love of God
28:06and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
28:08be with us all today
28:10and forevermore.
28:13Amen.
