A grim discovery was made along the coastline in Tobago on Friday morning, after the body of a missing man washed ashore in the Blenheim area.

The deceased has been identified as Daniel McLean of Bacolet, Tobago, who was reported missing on Thursday. More from Elizabeth Williams.

00:00Reports indicate that his body was discovered around 10 a.m., prompting authorities to respond to the scene.
00:07McLean had reportedly been missing since Thursday afternoon after leaving home to pick coconuts intended for sale.
00:15Concern grew after he failed to return, leading relatives and residents to make checks for him.
00:22About 10 a.m. this morning, while we were searching for Angelo in the McNab trees area, we were alerted
00:30by the police team and the search officers that there was a missing gentleman from Mount St. George down by
00:37the cemetery.
00:38And it appeared he went to cut coconuts. And when he didn't return home, his relatives went to search for
00:47him and they found his clothes and the coconuts on the ground.
00:50The hunter's search and rescue team were alerted to the body of Daniel McLean floating in the sea.
00:57He was an employee of Dane Phillips Plumbing and Enterprise Limited in Bacolet.
01:03So we were up in Mount St. George with all the officials. CID was doing a check down there.
01:09When we were alerted again now to a sighting of a body in the sea of Blemman floating.
01:17When we got here, because of the incoming high tide, the body was being tossed around and being taken out
01:25to sea to the police and hunter's search and rescue team to retrieve the body from the sea.
01:32And we did that at around 11.43 a.m.
01:36Friend and co-worker Dexter Miller spoke with TV6 News.
01:40This is really a tough time.
01:45Realizing to be a setter, there's a series of events that keep occurring where death is concerned.
01:51We're just asking people to be a bit more conscious of what's going on with them and around them.
01:56You know, be a bit more careful as to how we go about our daily traverses.
02:00Area representative of Mount St. George Goodwood, Megan Morrison, spoke to the media.
02:06It's a sad situation. It's the second incident in my district in a matter of a week.
02:15So, and this is the second body actually washing up in this Blemman area.
02:21I don't know if there's a current that pulls all bodies to this area or what, but it's a sad
02:27situation.
02:28Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.
