The body of a woman was discovered floating in waters off Tobago, shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, officers responded to reports from members of the public who made the grim discovery. The body was subsequently retrieved from the sea.

00:00Around 3 p.m. today, police received a call that a body was seen floating in the ocean in the
00:07vicinity of Blenheim off the Wynwood Road. Police responded and the body washed ashore. It was observed that it was
00:17a female of African descent.
00:20Up to news time, investigators in Tobago were seeking the public's assistance in identifying the woman. No identification documents were
00:29found and details surrounding the circumstances of her death remain unclear.
00:34We are yet to identify the body. However, you know, the Homicide Bureau crime scene officers are currently processing and
00:45as more information come to hand, we will inform you in due time.
00:49Officer Kirk said signs of foul play were observed, prompting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

01:03Well, yes, we have seen marks of violence, but again, you know, it could be a result of many things.
01:10The body appeared to be in the water for a couple of days.
01:13So, you know, as I say, as more information comes to hand, I don't want to prematurely pronounce on anything,
01:22you know, except that, you know, as the facts come to hand, then we'll be in a better position to
01:28inform the public.
