00:00 The Barbados Bay Fish Facility in Tobago has been recommissioned at Studley Park.
00:05 This happened on Tuesday.
00:07 The facility underwent comprehensive upgrades and repairs to ensure that the environment was fit for fish handling and vending.
00:14 It was a facility that was sitting here and it's been closed as far back as I can remember.
00:20 I remember passing this facility and it was built years and years ago.
00:24 And because they did not listen to what the fisher folk asked, it was closed up.
00:31 The sinks, for example, that have been placed in there are industry grade and are at the top level.
00:40 The counters that are there are industry grade and are at the safest level that we expect from you.
00:49 The drains, the lighting, everything that is in this facility right now as we speak meets the necessary HACCP standards.
01:00 Dr. Faith B. Israel spoke on behalf of Assemblyman Megan Morrison who represents the area of Mount St. George Goodwood.
01:07 Dr. B. Israel believes that the facility can assist with wealth creation on the island.
01:14 The second thing I want to highlight by this facility is the fact that it really does open up a lot of opportunities economically.
01:21 I know for a fact because I have actually seen it myself that fisher folk are actually some of the wealthiest people on this island.
01:32 asylum.
